PI ? Raspberry Pi ? I have one ZERO and I dont use it for now (used only for Openelec). Can I dig EGC on it or els ?
I dumb in linux so I need tutorial with pictures

You certainly can stake your EGC on your Pi! You will need to install an OS, some linux flavor, and then build either the EGC daemon or EGC Qt. Only the daemon is needed but, if you want a graphical interface, you will want to compile the Qt wallet.

Make sure you have the dependencies:
Code:
sudo apt-get install qt5-default qt5-qmake qtbase5-dev-tools qttools5-dev-tools \
    build-essential libboost-dev libboost-system-dev \
    libboost-filesystem-dev libboost-program-options-dev libboost-thread-dev \
    libssl-dev libdb++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libqrencode-dev

The source code can be found here: https://github.com/EverGreenCoinDev/EverGreenCoin so you can,
Code:
git clone https://github.com/EverGreenCoinDev/EverGreenCoin.git
from a shell to clone the source.

Then to build the EGC Qt:
Code:
cd EverGreenCoin
qmake
make

Then to launch the EGC Qt:
Code:
./EverGreenCoin-Qt &

OR, to build only the EGC daemon:
Code:
cd EverGreenCoin
cd src
make -f makefile.unix

Then to launch the EGC daemon:
Code:
./evergreencoind

Sorry, I do not have a Pi myself so I can't make you pictures. Smiley If you run into a problem, please post details of it.

I had a rather lengthy conversation with David, the owner of SciFi Domains. He has recently lost a loved one in his family and would feel more conbfortable moving the anticipated website ETA to 2 weeks, as opposed to 1 week. Please be reminded that SciFi Domains was contracted at a very considerable discount and some of the work is being done after hours. David and his staff are doing a top-notch job developing the new EverGreenCoin website. It truly will be a portal for all things 'evergreen', and 'main-street easy', at that. The quality of which that is well worth any needed wait.

Of course, and I feel I can say this for the entire EverGreenCoin community, our condolences to David and his family during their time of loss.

Have a nice weekend, EverGreenCoin community!

2017 looks like another interesting year for EGC.

Is the tree planting planned as a crowd funding thing like it was mentioned last week?

Yes, the tree planting will most likely have to seek funding in this manner. That is not to say we are not exploring other funding options. We plan to talk of these options next community meeting, sept. 24th 17:00 gmt.

2017 will certainly be an exciting year for EGC. I look forward to it and the end of 2016 eagerly and motivated.
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EGC] EverGreenCoin | Environmental Green Causes | Full 7% PoS | Foundation on: September 17, 2016, 05:33:33 PM
This is just a draft, not final. Q3 2017 will have "- Solar mining farm" added in reference to our plan to PoW mine, possibly for rent payable with EGC, other coins using solar powered GPUs and ASICs.

EDIT: updated the image.
EDIT 2: changed some wording.

Unfortunatly I couldnt finish work in time for this hangout.

Any interesting news?

Yes, I think it might be wise for us to move the community hangout to Saturdays in the future.

No real 'earth shattering new' news. Just an update to current developments. While it was 2 hours long, most discussions were reiteration of past ones and laughing at our language barriers. There was some good feedback and ideas about the roadmap that Marc and I will progress with over the weekend.

I do not feel there is an outline of meeting notes needed. Most of what 'new' that was discussed is only minor changes and such. All of which have been documented in the slack, but again, minor.

I hope moving the EGC community hangout to Saturday in the future helps you and others to be able to attend!

All are welcome!

No rare crysx sighting Wink but we did have 10 attendees at one point.

Many thanks for all the feedback and input of those who attended!

So sorry, I could not post a link to the hangout because BCT was down from all these DDoS attacks.

I was able to get links out on social media however, and we did have quite a few participants, 6 in total.

To summarize:
  • EGC Android wallet (EGC Foundation) -  because of the downfalls of staking on an Android device, which will usually be a cell phone, i.e. constant battery drain, high chance of being lost or stolen, we discussed the possibility of proceeding with an Android wallet that only stores, does not stake, EverGreenCoin. This is at suggestion after a month and a half of failed promises from Android devs and negotiations with them that failed. The present budget for the development of an EGC Android wallet is not sufficiently funded to hire an Android dev for as long as it seems the task demands.

Now the good news, EGC has the budget presently to pay for the non-staking Android wallet and the Android dev is well known and trusted. With this option also comes with it the expenses for another block explorer, this one an ABE, and the associated VPS to run it. This cost is also within the present budget. I suggest EGC goes forward with a non-staking Android wallet to make that option available for person-to-person EGC commerce and business-to-consumer EGC commerce should the merchant decide to run an Android or has an already Android Point Of Sales terminal. Owners of Android devices like phones would be advised to stake the bulk of their EGC on a computer or a web service like poswallet.com until the option of a staking EGC Android wallet became viable. Budget wise, it is best for EGC to take the now feasible step in the right direction and proceed with an Android wallet that does not stake EGC. The community did agree with this plan.

  • New EGC website (EGC Foundation) - the community was provided a glimpse of the new site via some mockups provided by David and shared by me at today's community meeting. The EGC marketplace that will be linked to the forum profiles (of businesses or individuals) being discussed much. EGC merchants, marketplace or otherwise, will also be advertised on the first page of the new site. The community was delivered a 2 week ETA.

  • Solar Staker/Miner (EGC Renewables) - after much debate about many mini-computers such as Pine64 and Pi devices, it was agreed that the C.H.I.P. remains the best solution for the solar staker/miner. This is because many devices would need additional equipment purchased for wi-fi and power management/monitoring. The C.H.I.P. fits the project perfectly, not only in price. However; because of a delay in shipping of the C.H.I.P. by its manufacture development on the C.H.I.P. itself has been slowed. My own order was pushed back to the middle of next month, not the originally anticipated delivery of this week. The community agreed proceeding with C.H.I.P in-spite of their growing pains is the best option for the project at this time.

Discussion was also held about the various ways to design the EGC solar miner/staker and its components. It was agreed we are going down the best path of making functional prototypes at this time.

  • Montana State Hemp Festival (EGC Cannabis) - Bow is onsite and helping set-up for the festival. He is without Internet connectivity but was able to touch base with me this morning. Pictures will be forth-coming over the next few days.

Many thanks to those that attended!

To the above outline, I would like to add:

  • EGC Trademark (EGC Foundation) - the EverGreenCoin trademark application is on file with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). All fees have been paid and recorded. The paperwork was demonstrated to the community.

Also, it has been requested of me to move the next EGC Google Hangout Community Meeting time ahead. We will be shooting for 17:00 GMT (1 PM EST) next Friday. We are doing our best to balance the timezone differences among all those that wish to attend. I hope this 3 hour move earlier is not found as anyone's hindrance on attending.

@ ~17:00 GMT the next community meeting will be held via google hangouts. Hope to see you there!

Just to keep things going with work that's happening in the background. I've been doing a bit of solar testing as it's been sunny today and my couple of test panels have arrived.

The panel is supposedly a 2.5W panel and it's driving a 4.8V light bulb. The meter readings suggest I'm getting about 1.2W from the panel in this position. Which for late afternoon isn't too bad. I'm planning on repeating this test over the coming days in different light conditions to see how it compares. I'm also going to look at what's needed to connect it to the chip to get best results for trying to power that (It's likely to need both panels and I may need to look at bigger panels to give enough voltage).

For reference there's a Pi3 in it's case sitting on a similar panel (I bought two matching ones but I'm testing with one for now), and to the left is a CHIP and 5000mAh battery.

Great to see progress of the EGC Solar Miner/Staker from EGCRenewables. As stated in the community meeting and in the notes documented from it, I eagerly await my shipments from the manufacturer of the CHIP to make functional prototypes.

Keep up the great work!

why poloniex not add evergreen untill now?
why to add? No real news for some time. Eta of the eta of the website...

An ETA of the website has been announced, 2 weeks from this past Friday. Sorry if you missed that announcment but, please read up on all the news before making accusations based on that news or suggesting you have any insight into polo's evaluation process, for that matter. Thanks in advance!

Glad I could clear up the ETA confusion!
Will be great to see some practical results in just 2 weeks. All I'm saying it isn't good to know that everything is in progress, i.e. on paper. The price reflects that perfectly.
And sure I can try and guess what polo thinks of it.
I'm holding some EGC (not really have any choice right now). Good luck with the planning and making.

A revised roadmap is in the works, it will be out this week for certain. That should give you a clearer picture of what is going on. Polo specifically will not appear on our roadmap of course, as only things under our control are.

If you wish to gain an even clearer picture, you're welcome to attend any of the google hangouts or gotomeetings.if you would like an invite to the slack channel, please PM me an email address I can send the invite. Also you could join our IRC at #EverGreenCoin.

Thanks for holding.

Better ask Poloniex about it imo.

ill make sure to mention that in my youtube video on cryptocurrency exchanges tonight. ill make sure to tweet it out to them and put it in thier troll box

Thanks, Joe!

BBang, it is not up to anyone in this thread when or if EverGreenCoin is added to Polo. It is completely up to Polo. You can help us coerce them by submitting a coin request form and tweeting at Polo. Thanks in advance!

I've added the coin request - but don't have twitter. Looks like the seem more interested in delisting coins at the minute. Hopefully that will leave them space for more coins like EGC in the future.

Thank you for taking some time out of your weekend and submitting the coin request form for EverGreenCoin at polo. I had hoped to hear some news from polo shortly after the delistings, thinking they might be 'cleaning house' in preparation for some additions. I have not received any communication from polo, as of now. I assume their evaluation is on-going or has yet to start.

Again, thanks!
