As you all know from recent discussions, we have been fortifying the EverGreenCoin network with many more seednodes. Thanks to Chainworks Industries (CWI) we have gone from 7 seednodes to 20 seednodes online already! Soon we will have 27 online.
I am asking for donations of EGC to help supply these seednodes so that they will be helping to secure PoS, process the blockchain, and more importantly keep PoS difficulty from dropping to extremely low levels. When few wallets are on the network staking, PoS difficulty drops very low. When the difficulty is very low, the network is flooded with PoS blocks from every wallet. We do believe, based on our observations, this can be a source of unintentional forks. Having these seednodes staking themselves and at all times, will increase PoS difficulty. Do not think this countermeasure we are taking will reduce the frequency of your own installments towards your 7% annual, it will not.
If you find your EGC balance to be in a position to donate, please send to EGC address EQxtPQFmBcBycAMxxAFdzksN7LcHsnRP8P any size donation. All donations, of any size, are greatly appreciated. We hope to put several thousand on each of the, what soon will be, 27 seednodes. The EGC Foundation will fill the remaining gap after donations. As you may or may not know, the EGC Foundation only has ~250k (256380.53857451 as of the time of this writing) and we do want to reserve as much as possible of that funding for the solar stakers. If you remember, we intend to provide EGC at the time of sale of the solar stakers at a discount. This discount will be made possible from the EGC Foundation's coins.
For complete disclosure, these donations will become the property of CWI. As I am sure you can imagine, the cost CWI is absorbing for these seednodes is very substantial and significant. It is a tremendous help to EverGreenCoin from a financial perspective. I thank you kindly in advance for any donation. Please know your donation is being used to secure EGC and the EGC network.

... i did what u said i am getting this error i downloaded this file http://evergreencoin.org/729617snap.zipand delete these files n folders Then Delete 4 files : .lock & blk0001.dat & db.log & debug.log Then Delete 2 folders named : database & txleveldb and unzip that files n folders ... Hi shadabhmed, sorry for the slow response, I was away from my desk. I did test the snapshot locally and it did work as expected. The steps you mentioned do sound correct. I am doing some additional testing now to see if I can isolate a problem. Again, sorry for the slow response and for the issue you are experiencing. |

Yes, all the seednodes do appear fine also. I too noticed a lower connection count about 24 hours ago but, only < 10 fewer than the normal on average across the seednodes. Though they do seem to be returning to normal levels now. I have moved a more recent snapshot to our web server, http://evergreencoin.org/729617snap.zip should anyone need it. Snapshotting is much faster than re-syncing over the network. Though you do have to download 1 large (~500 MB) file first. Follow these instrustions, but use the more recent snapshot I have linked as opposed to the one linked in those instructions. I have moved a fresh peers.dat with 38 peers as well to http://evergreencoin.org/peers.dat should that be useful to anyone with a low connection count. Remember, 1) close your wallet. 2) overwrite peers.dat 3) launch your wallet. 4) patience. Sorry to those experiencing any issue. Measures are being actively taken to further strengthen the network and myself and community members are investigating in-depth and monitoring closely. Of course, thanks to those assisting and offering help to others. |

Some community members have expressed interest in staking EverGreenCoin on Android devices that are not mobile phones. Beyond that, many point of sales devices run on Android.
If I can provide Android users options, I would like to. Of course, users would be advised of pros and cons in effort to guide them to selecting the fitting wallet for their device and needs.

No ETA for the Android wallet as of now. I am pleased to say, some recent events have brought the staking Android wallet back on the table. In light of that, it would be great to offer both. A staking wallet for those devices or users less worried about battery consumption and a non-staking wallet for those devices or users that can not afford the battery consumption. At any rate, we will at minimal have one, staking or non, in Q4 as roadmapped. The addition of EverGreenCoin to Poloniex is their decission. Please fill out a coin request form and tweet at them if you would care to help us convince them to add EverGreenCoin. Thank you for your interest! |

Hi EverGreenCoin community, Yesterday I had asked David to field some of the honest questions that have been asked. I understand he does not want to be pulled away from his work and I do understand it is unpleasant to answer questions in less-than-perfect situations. Given the tardiness of the new website, I did explain a response was in the best interest of EverGreenCoin and the community was deserving. The foundation gained its funding through the mining of the community during PoW. One could argue the community helped pay for half of the bill for the new website. If you remember: Of the paid bill of 25 k EGC, 12.5 k EGC was paid from the foundation, 12.5 k EGC by me personally. I advised not ignoring would be best for everyone involved and ask for him to, during his lunch break perhaps, field some of the honest and professionally delivered questions. Since David was unable to field the questions as of yet and I do not want the community to lower its expectations of responsiveness, let me address the ones I am aware of answers to and do so to the best of knowledge based on previous discussions: - As far as the mobile version, David tells me a plugin or module only needs to be installed that will resolve this.
- The exchange and social links of course should be a quick fix. Some of the social links do not yet have relevant targets, for I have not made EGC accounts on all of the social media sites presently displayed. But at this time, we should just disable those. In the future, we can enable when relevant.
- Some of the images in use will certainly not be used. David and his staff only used these for mockups and now remain as placeholders. Owners of any imagery used will be contacted and asked for permission.
- David and I did have many in-depth and very long discussions of my motives behind developing EverGreenCoin. Elaboration of how EverGreenCoin could, and in my mind would, be a successful project did aid us in coming up with a plan of presentation we both feel very confident about. I admit I may have let those conversations go on for longer than needed.
Those are the only questions that have been raised that I am comfortable answering. Of course I can not field questions about his business or his business practices. I have no knowledge of those answers and even if I did, I feel that would be unprofessional of myself. I do thank the community for maintaining professionalism. Even the comments that were delivered more bluntly were, I believe, done while holding their tongue. I have had to answer to much worse and I feel silence will only further aggravate the situation. I hope I have at least shed a little light on some questions asked. |

Looks like the BTC price is in retracement phase - price is back down to 700, glad I managed to pick up a few cheap EGC today. The price didn't catch up with the BTC price yet so looking very tempting - shame I'm out of funds on Bittrex, still had a nice haul today - managed to more than double my EGC holding - so can't complain =)

Perhaps another after 6 months would not be received as spamming. Of course, I am trying to be understanding of the staff's workload and having patience. For those of you that were unable to attend, the stage of the new website is at stage.evergreencoin.org Please do not post links to the stage on social media or other sites, as we do not want search engines indexing it for obvious reasons. Indexing is 'prevented' on the stage but some search engines will still index it if they crawl other links to it. As I expressed in the hangout, I am sorry the site is this far behind schedule and this far from completion. I am doing my best to both motivate and help Sci Fi Domain meet the obligation. Hopefully it is completed and moved to evergreencoin.org's root before indexing from search engines is an issue.

EGC is holding up very nicely against the rise in BTC by the way - most alts have shifted down by a large percentage level - EGC seems to still be trading within its range =)
I have received comments from many people that EGC is the only coin not in the red of their portfolio recently. Certainly I am very glad to see EGC's price hold, but wish no devaluing of other coins nor people's investments in them. I was pleased to see EGC at 4000 sat again yesterday briefly. Hopefully we can continue that tread upward, regardless of what the market as a whole does. Thanks for investing in EGC! |
