2041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Set up Bitcoin node for data analysis on: December 22, 2023, 03:41:35 PM
My Pi 4 was overheating constantly when running a node and I had to get active cooling on it.
The thing burns 6.4W max. That shouldn't be too difficult to dissipate with passive cooling.
2042  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: December 22, 2023, 03:21:00 PM
It looks like there's an official answer now: click PROFILE, click Account Related Settings, and scan the QR-code. It has BTCT in the code.
2043  Economy / Services / Re: Friendship service for BTC. Do you need a friend to speak to, confide in? on: December 22, 2023, 12:15:00 PM
genuine friendship
I don't think this means what you think it does. If you need to pay for it, it's not friendship. It's acting.

I present to you Miss MehMeh, a small, pinky puppy who loves Bitcoin. (If you don't like it, I will re-create it)

Thanks, she loves it! She's been ill at home for the past few days.

Any other changes required or that's it?
That's it, thanks Smiley
Until the 2024 edition of course Smiley
2048  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Remove Proxyban (evil fees) - email to get whitelisted for free on: December 21, 2023, 10:57:18 AM
I vouch for kotlet[Suspicious link removed]. Can you whitelist please?
Lol. Nope, you don't qualify to vouch for others:
2. Get someone to vouch for you
If an established member knows you personally, they can post your username in this topic for whitelisting. Don't PM me, keep it public. I won't accept vouches from for instance a bounty hunter with 1000 Activity and 0 earned Merit.

Sure, let me wear my personalised t-shirt with the "apogio" stamp on it.

I don't even want to know how this is made (since I strongly hate AI), but can you get me one with MehMeh (reference link in case this name doesn't ring a bell) on it? She'll love it Smiley
2050  Other / Meta / Re: Eli5 sub under beginners and help on: December 21, 2023, 10:40:10 AM
I'd tell any 5 year old to ask their parents if they really want to know about Bitcoin.
2051  Other / Meta / Re: How easy is it to sell an account? on: December 21, 2023, 10:37:20 AM
Legendary : $4
I'm more thinking of 21,000,001 Bitcoins. By then my account is worthless anyway. Disclaimer: I saw this "offer" from an old account a long time ago, so the idea isn't mine but I forgot who it was.

I discovered that you don't lose merit when sending merit. I read how smerit works. To test it out I created aleph1 to dump all my smerit in and recovered half of it.
That's totally allowed, but heavily frowned upon. Almost as much frowning as you get when you buy an account.

Bitcointalk is a community. Account sales and meriting your own post are like cheating the community. It's up to you to choose which path you want to walk.
2052  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Contest][ALT] Best portfolio 2023 on: December 21, 2023, 08:29:27 AM
All right, then my script will run at Paris time midnight + 15 minutes just to be safe.
Can you make this +50 minutes, to account for the increased delay between scraping Coingecko?
2053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Set up Bitcoin node for data analysis on: December 20, 2023, 10:00:46 PM
Before doing all this for data analysis, have a look at these topics:
2054  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 20, 2023, 09:22:42 PM
Can we use url shortener to use a referral link in our sig without any mention of mixing in our profile?
That sounds like bypassing the wordfilter:

bypassing the wordfilter will get you banned

Hi Loyce, are you doing any better?
A bit, but I'm not celebrating yet. I've felt like this a few times before in the past 3 months. More tests later this week.
Thanks Smiley
2056  Economy / Reputation / Re: BlackHatCoiner decided to take a leave from bitcointalk on: December 20, 2023, 07:03:19 PM
About three weeks ago, I faced significant challenges in real life and... to put it mildly, I didn't believe I would overcome them. Fortunately and thankfully, I am currently standing strong, and I express gratitude that the issues have been resolved.
Welcome back. Real life can be unimaginably difficult Sad
2057  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: December 20, 2023, 06:53:58 PM
But do you need to add a reference link with some kind of proof? Or is it enough to have a strong feeling?
I prefer to add Reference links with compelling evidence.

Quote
for example "BabyBandit is a idiot and I hate him" without reference link? That's fine for me because everyone have right to their opinion.
It's allowed (as anything is), but I wouldn't call it correct use of the Trust system as it's not very interesting for others. Use User Notes if you want to keep a diary.

Quote
if you gonna accuse someone for being a scammer at least I think you should have solid proof
When I tag someone with negative feedback, I want it to be convincing for others. It wouldn't be very Switzerland of me to start tagging people for "maybe".

Quote
And last how important is a reference link?
I'd say: add it when you can. Check my Sent feedback: the few without Reference link either can't have one, or don't need one.

Quote
Also I  have swiped my Trust list and have added the people I trust and distrusted the people I don't think belong in DT in my trust list. Is that something you think is good or bad?
I wouldn't worry about DT too much: just add users with good judgement.

I had a bad attitude against reputable members

Bitcointalk offers more freedom than any other forum I know. You can choose to be an asshole or you can be a nice person. It's entirely up to you how you want to come across. If you're a snowflake, you might get offended. That's okay.

2059  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 20, 2023, 06:17:15 PM
Where does it say that if you think a deal with a user is high risk but he already has two feedbacks he doesn't need any more?
In my post Tongue
Seriously though, it's up to any potential trade partner to make apply their own judgement of the feedback on an account. I used neutral so it's a warning without harsh consequences. That may change in the future, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ratimov doesn't return.

Quote
I completely disagree with this. Feedback have a date and for me if someone had a successful trade with Ratimov in the past he should not delete what he wrote, simply if he thinks he is high risk now he should add negative feedback as of today.
I'd say: "it depends". User yogg went from +32 / =0 / -0 a year ago to #  +13 / =0 / -43 now. This means the majority of DT removed their positive feedback.
On the other hand, there's this account, where RHavar left positive feedback in 2016, and negative feedback in 2019. This way, it shows a timeline of events and going from trusted to untrusted.

Quote
You are asking others to do what you do not want to do: to enhance the danger of trading risk. You prefer it to be enhanced by deleting old positive feedback instead of adding current negative feedback.
It's more that I don't think the old feedback still applies.

Quote
I guess we agree to disagree on this.
Agreed Smiley I love democracy Smiley

So.... is it wrong or correct for WO's to be so overly bullish on BTC ?
Neither. There is no such thing as being "overly bullish" when it comes to Bitcoin.
