2101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When This Scam Will stop?? on: December 29, 2020, 11:27:13 AM
but the truth is that Copper Membership did prevented a lot of scams.

It is more like Bitcoin price growth prevented a lot of scam. With the price of 129280sat, Copper Member now cost around 34-35 USD, which is kinda costly for those who seek for easy money. Those people spend less than 10$ for a domain registration, use templates for webpage and 10-20$ for a whitepaper rewrite (greedy one try to create whitepaper by themselves, but they are easily caught for plagiarism). Spending same budget on just a forum account is a lot for that kind of people. But those who can afford to spend that kind of money, Copper Membership wont help.

Agreed. Those who used to scam using Copper Membership accounts earlier were mostly low-level scammers, who usually have a very small budget. You are right in stating that the membership has become more unaffordable to them. But it won't have any impact on the innovative scammers with larger budget. These people usually purchase Bitcointalk memberships (Sr.Member or higher), and use these accounts for their scams. Sometimes the DT members flag these accounts, if they notice that the account has suddenly become active after an extended period of dormancy. But most of the time, they go unnoticed.

Thanks for your Suggestions. I think you are right. You should focus more on the thing on which you are more proficient. Be influenced by friends, I occasionally bet on another game, and lost. So I want to gain enough knowledge about other sports as well.

Do you consider gambling as a passive source of revenue, or as a hobby? I am an occasional gambler and I regard gambling as a hobby, which helps to get around the boredom of the "work from home" stuff. So losing a few bucks once in a while doesn't impact me much. Most of the time, I make bets in favor of the teams I support. Sometimes I may win the bet, but the chances are that I will be unlucky most of the times.
2103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which virtual currency is suitable for long-term investment? on: December 29, 2020, 11:07:26 AM
Apart from Bitcoin, very few of the altcoins are suitable for long term investment. Check the exchange rate of these altcoins versus Bitcoin and you can see that they have lost most of their value during the last 2-3 years. Only a few have moved in the other direction.

Stablecoins are also available now. QC is a stable currency anchored to the RMB 1:1. Everyone says it is the king of stable coins. ZB now supports USDT/QC spot trading and 10 times leverage trading. After all, it is a stable currency, and the income is still very stable.

I don't know why noobs always have to post their stablecoin BS, in the discussions about investment. Is it that hard to understand the basic definition of stablecoin?
2104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: December 29, 2020, 10:57:59 AM
The Mariners will be looking to go three points clear atop while Chennaiyin hunt for their third win of the season.Chennaiyin have a six point gap to close towards the top of the table when they take on ATK Mohun Bagan.

LOL... do you really believe that Chennaiyin has a chance against ATK Mohun Bagan? The latter have lost only one out of their 7 matches, and has been in top form this season. For me, the outcome is very predictable. Only the winning margin is in question here. There has been a slight improvement in Chennaiyin's performance this season, but that is not enough to defeat ATK Mohun Bagan.
2105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Time For Alt Coins.. on: December 29, 2020, 10:46:13 AM
Still, get ready to buy alts, the bull will probably start after BTC falls and crabs a little while its dominance goes down between to 40-55% (maybe even lower).
Now if you buy altcoins it doesn't matter, the altcoin target is 10x of today's value, this target you can see when the altcoin price hits its highest price and the bitcoin price at that time has touched $100000. The dominance of bitcoin will go down if the bull market has entered the middle of the season.

LOL.. so you decided this target by yourself? Altcoin can't get a spike of 10x overnight. There should be solid reasons if the exchange rates are rising that much. I would rather expect the altcoin exchange rates to go down in 2021, and the Bitcoin dominance to increase to 80%-85% levels. Many of the altcoins are overpriced at current levels, considering the fact that few of them have real life usage.
2106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 29, 2020, 10:36:20 AM
I think both Agarwal and Shaw are over hyped. They both were paired by the Indian management to open the batting but both have failed miserably and I do not think they will get another chance after this series.

Both Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw failed to get runs in Australia. And I was quite surprised when Agarwal was picked ahead of KL Rahul, despite his poor performance in the second test. Anyway, Rohit Sharma will be in the squad for the third test, so in all probability Mayank will be dropped. And regarding Prithvi Shaw, I don't think that he'll get another chance in this series.
2107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When This Scam Will stop?? on: December 29, 2020, 10:25:15 AM
Introducing copper memberships was actually just the forum owners capitalizing on the forum traffic, especially from newbies who could not earn merit to rank up. While the cost wasn't really much, it may have given some dough to the forum. I was frankly surprised by this because one would hope that forum owners would be OGs with enough Bitcoin. That does not seem to be the case.

As far as scams are concerned, this forum is still the best place to get decent bitcoiners interested in your project, if you are a decent project. For scam projects, the whole crypto industry has become an easy spray and pray venture. You keep churning out scams and wsbsites snd TG groups and keep raking in the moolah. Unfortunately, there is nothing to stop you if you are good at it.

The assumption is that if you are spending some of your money to purchase a Copper Membership, then you will be careful with your posts. If a Copper Member indulges in a scam and a DT member flags him, then the effort and money spent on building that profile is lost. Now this doesn't work 100% of the time, but the truth is that Copper Membership did prevented a lot of scams.

Khawaja,Hales & Ferguson makes a good start for Sydney Thunder and put 219 in first innings.
Melbourne now need 220 runs to chase. They need a solid start in order to win this match.

The first match was also quite exciting. Melbourne Renegades made 168/6 (thanks to Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch) and Sydney Sixers need another 26 runs in 15 balls for a win. Sixers started well with Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards putting up a 50 plus opening stand, but then they lost quick wickets. Jordan Silk is still out there with unbeaten 31, along with Jason Holder.

2109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Altcoins Follow BTC Rally? on: December 28, 2020, 01:16:09 PM
Other altcoins have experienced less surprising increases than Bitcoin. It's not that obvious to see altcoins growing slowly.

How many of the altcoins are having real life usage? Also, the current rally was triggered by integration of Bitcoin by PayPal and Square. The altcoins are having no role in this spike, and it surprises me that some of the alts have managed to go up by 100%-200% during the last few months. But in the coming months, I expect the altcoin market share to decrease steeply. They will be unable to maintain current levels, at which they are clearly overpriced.
2110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of 2018 BTC aftermath on: December 28, 2020, 01:06:19 PM
I have checked the trade volumes for XRP, as given in the Coinmarketcap website. The vast majority of the trade seems to be between XRP and USDT, followed by XRP vs fiat currencies (especially USD and KRW). XRP vs BTC trade represents only a small fraction of the total volumes. And this means that those who are dumping XRP are mostly converting their tokens to either USDT or USD.
2111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: December 28, 2020, 12:45:53 PM
There are 8,000 coins on coinmarketcap now. But many of this coins are do not have any practical use at all.

But blockchain can be used for benefit of people, for example to save the environment. Here is information about use blockchain to solve environmental problems https://moss.earth/blog

I guess these number includes the tokens as well. Obviously the vast majority will be either dead or dormant. Thousands of new cryptocurrencies were created during the altcoin bubble of 2017-18, and most of them survived only for a few months. We can expect a re-run of the same, if the current Bitcoin rally gets extended to the altcoins as well in the near future.
2112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This what the paypal CEO said years ago about Bitcoin on: December 28, 2020, 12:27:24 PM
On the contrary, it is very hard for the vast majority of folks to understand the actual motives behind PayPal's decision to integrate bitcoin into their platform. They consider that it is through centralized platforms of the fiat system bitcoin will be widely adopted. This is a common misconception, bitcoin doesn't need PayPal to be efficient and widely used. It can and should be used as an independent payment system without any additional intermediaries. PayPal understands this and is trying to create a system in which it will be necessary to ask permission in order to use bitcoin. What they do is take a decentralized sovereign payment system, integrate it into the platform, and impose all sorts of restrictions. They make it so worthless and inefficient that users will likely avoid using it whatsoever.

PayPal doesn't need Bitcoin, and similarly Bitcoin doesn't need PayPal. But a healthy relationship between the two can be mutually beneficial. For the vast majority of the ordinary people, purchase and storage of Bitcoin is a big headache. PayPal simplify these two aspects and ordinary people are able to purchase Bitcoins with their PayPal balance or credit card for the first time. Restrictions will be there, and that's the reason I believe that the vast majority of the PayPal Bitcoin users will move their coins to personal wallets after sometime.
2113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 28, 2020, 12:12:57 PM
The experts here - what do you think of me and my relationship in India tour of Australia LOL
Can understand your pain. It's always difficult to bet on matches where the teams competing are at equal level. It all comes down to luck basically no matter how much research you are willing to do.

I advise you not to bet on the remaining tests in this series since the situation is quite unpredictable right now. You might end up losing even more money. Just my 2 cents.

To Royse777, I don't know whether I agree with that strategy. If India wins the second test match, it will be more like an outlier. I don't expect the same result for the remaining matches of the series. I would rather prefer you betting for the remaining matches as well, so that you can recover some of the amount that you lost during the second match. The only catch is that you need to be consistent in your bets. Don't change your assumptions mid way.
2114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 28, 2020, 12:02:42 PM
Adelaide Strikers won by 71 runs.Consecutive wins for the Strikers . Thoroughly professional performance from their bowlers here.

Adelaide Strikers are in very good form and right now they are topping the BBL points table with 13 points. They are among the strongest teams in the tournament with players such as Phil Salt, Alex Carey, Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle. Today the turning point came when Rashid Khan added some valuable runs during the final overs, when he scored 29 runs from 13 balls. None of the Perth bowlers could contain the batsmen, with the exception of Mitchell Marsh.
2115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is pointless if the BTC fees increases along with rise in BTC price! on: December 28, 2020, 11:39:01 AM
There are 2 possible ways to transfer your Bitcoin faster than the normal transaction and possible lower transaction fees.

1. Lightning Network - I know that there are some who are using this already but this isn't being implemented in most of the wallets at all. Only few of them are supporting LN addresses.
2. Converting your Bitcoin into other coins - I know that this might give you more hassle but this might help you especially when the Bitcoin transaction fees are at its peak. Some though have conversion fees aside from the transaction fees of it so just do the math at least.

The 2nd one is most likely most of the people are doing right now. BCH, LTC, XRP, and DOGE are the ones with low transaction fees right now but quicker transaction speed.

I agree with the first suggestion, but not with the second one. I have tried the second approach and ended up with more loss when compared to the normal method. Coins such as BCH and LTC have low levels of liquidity and you won't be able to buy and sell them at the same exchange rates. For example, for purchasing them, you may be paying 1% higher than the market rate, and for selling them you may get 1% less than the market rate. Also, their exchange rates are very volatile and can go down by up to 30% in a single day if you are unlucky.
2116  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-18] BTC bull run to last until the second half of 2021? on: December 28, 2020, 11:27:17 AM
Even at current level, the combined cryptocurrency market capitalization is yet to reach the peak levels that were attained during 2017-18. Therefore I still think that there is room for a lot of growth, after taking in to account the increase in adoption and acceptability after 2017-18. My conservative estimate is that the current bull run may go on until $50,000. But there is enough potential to go much beyond that level.
2117  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cash out or HODL - Bitcoin? on: December 28, 2020, 11:17:31 AM
It depends on what you aim to. If you came into BTC and bought it for 6500 and now it's 25k you've already got almost 4x profit. If this amount is enough for you and you don't wanna risk then you are completely able to cash out your funds. What about me I'm a crypto enthusiast and I would prefer staying keep HODLing till BTC reach the moon  Cheesy

If you are already at 300% profit, then why can't you recover the capital amount by selling 1/4th of your coins? You can keep the remaining 3/4th of the holdings for the long term (may be for 3-4 years) and hope that the prices would reach somewhere in the vicinity of $100,000 or even higher. Since you have already got your capital back, there is no risk in holding these coins for the long term.
2118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - February 20 on: December 28, 2020, 10:57:24 AM
Sad truth, losers  can't  push things out what they can do  is to wait  until  the winning  camp  decide  to accept the rematch.

That's right. And this is the reason why I personally think that debating about the rematch between Pacquiao and Floyd is a waste of time. Ever since Pacquiao lost the fight in 2015, his fans have been talking about a rematch. Perhaps they can't accept the fact that their hero got beaten by a clear margin. Floyd's team has made it clear that there would be no rematch and let's better get on with it.
2119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sport betting site offering bets on the Covid-19 pandemic. Worst site now. on: December 28, 2020, 10:44:44 AM
Covid-19 affected the World economy, but the same is used as an opportunity by many to make money. One such activity is the gambling sites offering gambling access associating the pandemic attack. Thats worse, and now the third wave of pandemic have begun around. Gambling sites need to stop such kind of services.

I haven't seen any such bets, but even if some website is offering them, there is nothing illegal. They are not causing any additional infections or deaths. They are allowing us to predict how many new infections will be there in the coming months. And seriously, I don't understand what is wrong with that. When the Johns Hopkins University makes such predictions, they get all the accolades. But when some gambling site is trying to do the same, they get the brickbats.
2120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 28, 2020, 10:34:56 AM
Everyone were expecting a 0-4 whitewash for the Indians. If they could win even one match, it is going to be huge.
Wrong statement. Majority were expecting this while I am a part of the minority who didn't expect this at all. I mentioned that underestimating India on the basis of one horrible innings is pure stupidity.

Many people conveniently forgot the fact that Australia struggled in the 1st innings of the 1st match. India has the capability to draw this series from here on out.

Well.. good for you. Indian bowlers performed well during the first match, and they lost because of poor performance from the batsmen. And this time Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill ensured that there will be no batting collapse similar to what happened during the first match. Now it should be a cakewalk for the Indians. I don't think that Australian lead (which stands currently at 2 runs) will get in to three digits.
