10 Teams IPL is about to come in 2022 season.

They should have done this from IPL 2021 onward. I always thought that 8 was too low. In England they have 18, and there is no reason why India shouldn't have the same number of teams, as the player pool is comparatively much larger. Anyway, 10 will do for now. But they need to increase the limit on overseas players to 5 per team, and remove the salary cap.

I think 10 or 12 teams are perfect. No more should be done. Then can have an adverse effect on the audience. We will not be able to support a particular team if our favourite players are spread in different teams. If the team is increased in IPL, some rules will have to be changed.

What we have seen during the IPL 2020 is that the limitation of 4 overseas players in the playing XI has meant that a lot of promising players were unable to find a slot, while among the local players there were a number of undeserving ones who managed to get included (to name a few, Kedar Jadhav of CSK, Sarfaraz Khan of KXIP, Shahbaz Nadeem of SRH.etc). Increasing the limit to 5 would mean that only quality players are included in the XI.

As far as undeserving - nonperforming players are concern, franchise do release such players every year and they are doing the same for next season as well.

Maintaining the quality would be very difficult, if they stick with the limitation of 4 overseas players, and then increase the number of teams to 10. Another issue is that the franchises are allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players, which will make it very tough for the new teams to get quality players.

I don't remember reading or heard anything about franchises raising this issue yet, i might have missed that.

I am not fan of restricting franchise to retaining only 4 players as making a winning combination for the squad takes some times, its kinda weird that one franchise investing time and resources on the player and in next auction another franchise robbing them and fans also gets confused as sometime they are more loyal to their fav players instead of franchise so it would be good idea if they increase the limit to 7-8 players or may be increase franchise overall budget to 20-30% so that they can buy back their existing players (the ones performing good or attracting higher bidders)

Adelaide Strikers are in very good form and right now they are topping the BBL points table with 13 points. They are among the strongest teams in the tournament with players such as Phil Salt, Alex Carey, Rashid Khan and Peter Siddle. Today the turning point came when Rashid Khan added some valuable runs during the final overs, when he scored 29 runs from 13 balls. None of the Perth bowlers could contain the batsmen, with the exception of Mitchell Marsh.

A great match on behalf of the Adelaide Strikers. P. Salt made 51 off 31 balls. Great an innings. The most interesting thing in this match is, all the bowlers in Adelaide took 2 wickets each.

Purchasing all the top players can never be realized, as it will end up triggering a bidding war. It is going to be one franchise against the other seven (soon it will be nine). At the most, a particular team may end up with 1/4th or 1/5th of the top players and I don't think that it should give any lop-sided advantage to that franchise. EPL teams follow the same strategy and it hasn't impacted the competitiveness among various clubs.

The first match was also quite exciting. Melbourne Renegades made 168/6 (thanks to Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch) and Sydney Sixers need another 26 runs in 15 balls for a win. Sixers started well with Josh Philippe and Jack Edwards putting up a 50 plus opening stand, but then they lost quick wickets. Jordan Silk is still out there with unbeaten 31, along with Jason Holder.

@vishnu.Reang in the end Sydney Thunder comfortably won the match, and I felt that Melbourne Stars crumbled under the pressure while chasing such a huge total posted by Sydney Thunder. Also it’s pertinent to note that lots of credit goes to Chris Green for picking 4 wickets, and the fall of those wickets too increased the pressure on Melbourne Stars, which resulted in their defeat.

The BBL is not making much of a hype outside Australia. The Cricket Australia needs to take the blame, as they scheduled the Indian tour overlapping with the BBL schedule. Who is going to watch club cricket, when the national team is playing? Obviously this might have resulted in huge losses for the broadcasters. And if I am not wrong, Channel Seven has already taken Cricket Australia to the court over this.

This is nothing new in BBL because if you able to check previous dates mostly they started in these days just because of this all BBL is one off longest leagues in cricket because they have mostly revenue from media coverage they are not going in big loses but they need to do some better in marketing for this all because now they are going to face some more challenges in future.

The problem is not with the BBL. The issue arises when Cricket Australia schedules the Indian tour in such a way, that it overlaps with the BBL schedule. This means less revenue for the broadcasters, and the unavailability of national players for franchise duty. When the TV channels pay such huge amounts for the media rights, they expect better support and understanding from Cricket Australia.
