2181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNN Money article, comments are hilarious on: January 15, 2015, 11:48:52 PM
It's like trying to educate creationists on how the universe works, extremely tiring, tedious and they're likely to just ignore you anyway Sad Oh and this has been posted before. Also, I've become convinced that these people who are making these comments about Bitcoin are deliberately trying to spread bullshit, hell, now I think about it, it could even be the news networks' staff themselves, it's certainly not impossible, there are definitely people on gaming forums for example that are out to silence any criticism and pick fights with critics at a moments notice, you see it all the time.
2182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin friendly banks? on: January 15, 2015, 11:23:35 PM
There's actually a list somewhere of Bitcoin friendly and unfriendly banks, one thing you would need to do I think is give them a warning about any high amount of money being transferred to and from your accounts so they know about you. It should be noted though that you do not actually ever own the currency in your account they own it and they can do pretty much whatever they like with it.

I did have a chat with an agent at Euro Pacific Bank and they seemed alright with Bitcoin, plus Peter Schiff is accepting Bitcoin for euro pacific metals if you ever want to buy some gold and silver, I plan on opening account with those guys.
2183  Economy / Economics / Re: Were the Keynesians wrong? on: January 15, 2015, 11:15:24 PM
Yeah, making a hypothetical statement doesn't mean it's correct, we've heard this argument a thousand times, you're also forgetting the fact that inflation is simply going to force people to work for longer and for less pay because everything becomes so expensive. Also, if deflationary currencies are so horrible and bad, why were they used for so long? Why is it that inflationary currencies have only recently come into existence and been used widely?

Hmmm doesn't seem to me like you're really going to bother answering the question but what the hell I'll ask anyway.
2184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome new Early Adopters on: January 15, 2015, 11:05:18 PM
IMO, by standard definitions, anyone who is "in" before Bitcoin has nibbled itself a solid 2% of any given market is an early adopter.

That's the thing, I don't think a lot of Bitcoin users really realise just how much of an early adopter they are, barely anyone knows about about Bitcoin nevermind has a real understanding of economics, that said, it is fairly amusing seeing people accuse me of having a hoard of Bitcoin stashed away and being incredibly rich when I hardly have anything right now. That said, that could all easily change this year because things are going to be epic.
2185  Economy / Economics / Re: Were the Keynesians wrong? on: January 15, 2015, 10:55:39 PM
Spending and inflation/deflation aren't really related to each other, the only reason spending would increase because of inflation would be if people are being forced to spend because their wealth is being destroyed which is what inflation actually does, especially hyperiflation and that is exactly what is happening to paper currency.

Whenever I get any paper money of my own I can tell you I immediately dump mine for Bitcoin just because I know every second I hold the stuff it's getting devalued and if I want to have some kind of long term purchasing power I need to get rid of it. The only time I use paper is in order to pay someone else who only takes that or for bills etc. that need to be paid.
2186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hacked? Cryptography broken? Banned US and EU? or everybody just crazy? on: January 15, 2015, 10:51:17 PM
China thinks David cameron and NY are going to ban Bitcoin shortly.

There's some noise about UK banning all crypto, ALL crypto, not just coins. "It's only for terrists" etc.

I don't think it's cryptocurrencies specifically just encryption, which is going to be difficult because of course all sorts of technology falls under that category, as I've said before I think it's David Cameron tryig to appeal to his social conservative base, unfortunately I'm probably going to have to take a closer look at what the politicians are planning on this.
2187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pope on Charlie Hebdo: There are limits to free expression on: January 15, 2015, 06:42:25 PM
You either support freedom of expression or don't, as far as I'm concerned there is no middle ground, I don't think they should have arrested that 'comedian' either ( note my sarcastic finger quotes ) because if they're going to do that then why don't they go and arrest the Christians that go around ranting about homosexuals all the time or attack scientists just for writing about scientific evidence?

I was wondering whether this new pope everybody liked was too good to be true, even Jon Stewart was making this point about france having a rally about freedom of expression and speech then suddenly deciding it was okay to arrest the guy for making a comment on facebook.

I'm not the kind of person who likes to arrest stupid people, I prefer to give them a megaphone so everyone knows just how stupid they are  Grin

I don't think you even need to spend that much really, you can downgrade things like the motherboard because really you just need that to slot in everything unless you're looking for something special and yes, I realise having looked at it a bit more that SSD's do stuff but I think until they become more affordable they aren't a must have just yet.

I also personally use an ATI CPU which is quite a bit cheaper, FX 8350 Eight core 4.0ghz and it easily runs Battlefield 4 etc. ( when it has a proper graphics card Tongue ), it all just depends on whether your bothered about spending a lot of money I guess.
Well ideally you don't want to go cheap on the mobo, you want it to be durable and with solid components. I once thought the same "its just to fit in shit" but I went cheaper and after 2 years one of my RAM slots was fried.

I suppose, but components can fail all the time, I don't know enough about motherboards though to really say whether it was that or just the RAM failing but I've had just the RAM fail on me before and the motherboard worked fine. Problem is of course with some of this stuff you practically have to be capable of building these components yourself to truly understand that.

My main point is though, that rig seems pretty expensive for the amount of performance it gives Tongue

I fucking knew it! I told you guys! At least they finally figured it out, now we might actually see some action, hope the fucker goes to jail.

2191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dude forces his roomate at gunpoint to sell bitcoins! on: January 15, 2015, 11:44:09 AM
Sounds like most of the guys here would do the same in a heartbeat if they were given such an opportunity.

Fuck off.
2192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dude forces his roomate at gunpoint to sell bitcoins! on: January 15, 2015, 11:41:26 AM
To be serious, this is precisely why we shouldn't be giving money to people who are being extremely aggressive about it they could easily be people like that guy, there are some genuine psychopaths out there.
2193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dude forces his roomate at gunpoint to sell bitcoins! on: January 15, 2015, 10:58:56 AM
Forgive me for my attitude since I'm used to this kind of thing now, but oh great, now everyone is going to think we're all murderous psychopaths beacuse of this asshole Sad
2194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hacked? Cryptography broken? Banned US and EU? or everybody just crazy? on: January 15, 2015, 09:41:11 AM
Yep, it's all mass hysteria, no one really has any proof for the bullshit they're peddling, I suspect some of them are just trying to take advantage of the Bitstamp hacking, the others just don't know any better.
2195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: British PM Suggests Banning Encrypted Communication Mediums on: January 14, 2015, 10:06:39 PM
Dodgy Dave isn't the sharpest tool in the box, would be interested to know how he intends to enforce the ban. More hot air from the toff party methinx...

I vividly remember last election the conservative party was pushing for more 'discipline' in schools, that pissed me off, mandatory schooling is fascist enough as it is without more stupidity added to it.
2196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome new Early Adopters on: January 14, 2015, 09:42:39 AM
For once even I'm going to benefit from a massive price rise even if it's only a little bit.
2197  Economy / Speculation / Re: anybody just bought some. lets get a show of hands on: January 14, 2015, 08:50:07 AM
Moment I get any money I'm buying like crazy, everyone is going to look at these prices and reminisce.
2198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interview with bagholders Thread on: January 13, 2015, 08:43:58 PM
Yep, pretty much on the same page with other "bag holders"... I remember buying stocks (and I hate stocks) late winter 2009 when there was blood on the street, screaming and pain... Never regretted it. I feel about the same way now.
Strong profits. Strong feels. I know them well. Good on ya!

Seems we're quickly approaching the 'blood in the street' level of panic—very reminiscent of the Gox crash a few years back. My only regret is I didn't buy more at those low prices.

The great thing about a currency that most people bitching don't realise it is if you actually use it as a currency you can benefit from both high and low prices at the same time if you know what you're doing, that's the problem with people who just treat it purely as a speculative option. That said, the smart speculators already saw the resistance line at $1000 and bailed becoming millionaires, while the rest of the numpties completely ignored the signs as they usually do.
2199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: British PM Suggests Banning Encrypted Communication Mediums on: January 13, 2015, 08:39:29 PM
This is a dumb policy I hope that the UK doesn't vote him in
Kind of a facepalm
Terrorism always being the default excuse for invading personal privacy

I thought it was protecting the children.
2200  Other / Meta / Re: Getting DDOSED ? on: January 13, 2015, 06:21:27 PM
It could easily have been some kind of attack, happens occasionally, they'll probably post an announement up if it's anything serious.
