221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 06, 2018, 10:40:30 PM
I have my BCH on a Trezor, should I move them before 15 Nov to claim both forks?

trezor works with electron cash

when you are in electron cash with your trezor select this server (bch.electrumx.cash) which runs an SV node or another one from the list on electrons website https://electroncash.org/nov2018.html .  You can check which server runs what node software in the banner when you connect (console tab)

Ok thanks, good to know!
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 06, 2018, 10:25:09 PM
Are you going to apply to be part of the foundation?

I made plenty of offers to help in the deep past. All were ignored.

Throw this in with how crappily these elections are being run - far too rushed, not PoI voting, 500 XEM fee, and plenty of evidence of new signups being paid - and the foundation's looking distinctly tinpot.

Pretty much everything people have been moaning about forever has just been confirmed.

You should run for a Council spot, NEM needs independent opinions at the top.

This is great news!
224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 06, 2018, 11:44:38 AM

Any examples from real life where this has been the case? Or even in cryptoverse, which coin has suddenly got adoption and still alive because the distro has finished? Does your theory have any base or just a hunch?

NXT/Ardor, back in 2013 100% of the coins were distributed to 73 early adopters in the second ever ICO right from the start (Mastercoin was the first ICO a few months earlier), then the dev (BCnxt, aka CfB of Iota fame) basically handed the project over to the community which empowered large holders to get active and 'do things' to keep the project alive, including spreading adoption.

NXT started with 73 people, 100% of coins distributed, dev concentrated on actual dev work, everything else was left to the community. It was the most beautiful disorganized clusterfuck to observe, and it most definitely was decentralised, and it was 100% the community who made it work because the distribution was completed very early, and the dev did a perfect Satoshi 2.0 and got out of the way.

If Tony finishes the distro and gets out of the way he creates a void, and motivated holders will fill it, that's decentralization in practice, relinquish control to the community.

edit: if Tony completed the distro and went into the shadows to work on code, maybe a big holder like Max from Lisk would see a 'space' for him to fill and he would get motivated to 'do something' for BB out of self interest, at the moment everything is top-down from Tony, no room for anyone else, 22% still in centralised hands causing worries.

227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 06, 2018, 02:19:39 AM
But we should also consider that BTC is still the best implementation of a cryptocurrency.  And if there was something that's gonna outlive every coin in the space, it's still gonna be BTC imho.

The rest haven't really been tested at the same scale that BTC has.

The lasting legacy of Bitcoin will be the total market cap of the cryptosphere, this pool of wealth is only 10 years old, and unlike any other in human history, it is free of conventional control, growing over time, and can morph itself into other forms almost immediately with minimal costs. Bitcoin and all other current crypto tokens might not exist in 10 years, but the pool of wealth will, it will continue morphing into new tokens by new tech as long as humans exist.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 06, 2018, 01:59:48 AM
The distro is finished, tony concentrates on dev work ... byteball becomes a shit load more decentralized, adoption is driven by motivated community members (the ones who left and/or became disillusioned when distro rules changed) working with funded foundation.

And that will slow the adoption down even more because instead of getting some bytes for free, users need to go get the bytes from exchange. Right now, they can use many features without having to sign up to any exchange. That's why smart voucher system is great, they can get started with the help of the referrer and get started. They could even attest their identity without any bytes, so they could buy bytes cheaper with credit card. Requiring new users to go to exchanges is not a great plan for adoption. Crypto-fanatics are ok with exchanges, but one day, your parents and relatives won't even know that cryptocurrency had that kind of shitty user experience https://twitter.com/FedericoTenga/status/1058316647289798656

Adoption will increase rapidly when the distro is finished, or byteball will fail ... those are the two possible outcomes.

Tony dribbling out small amounts from the undistributed 22% for years isn't spreading adoption if the vast majority of recipients don't become active users, and most are just mindlessly collecting tiny freebies, and not buying more coins and most won't become regular users.

Adoption will spread when current users who have big holdings and have a vested interest in seeing the project succeed get motivated to start working on adoption, BUT, those guys need certainty from the distro being finished, and no more changes that lower confidence.

Real adoption comes organically from people spreading something they believe in, and changing the original distro plan killed a lot of community belief and enthusiasm.

NEM core developer perspective here on the foundation.

I find this un-fucking-believable.

They were supplied with a Catapult roadmap six months ago and have done nothing with it and Jaguar suspects most didn't comprehend it. I really hope these elections get rid of the dead wood and install people who realise there's a world beyond their meetings because that's a flat out piss take.

Foundation council membership needs to be valuable so occupants are motivated and competition for spots is high, are these paid positions?

If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: WINGS ★ Where DAO Unicorns Are Born! ★ Token launched! on: November 05, 2018, 09:03:45 AM
Please tell me at the moment you are negotiating with any project that would take him to forecast on the platform Wings?
i think wings foundation probably is trying to get projects on the platform, i see wings partnership logo on zeex website, maybe we will soon see zeex project on wings platform.
A lot of times was that the wings were the partners of different projects, but they were not on forecasting. But I hope that soon we will be able to see a lot of predictions.

As far as I remember all the projects in which the wings were indicated as partners then we saw on the forecast. Or I'm wrong?

It is hard to find partners during a bear market, survival and ongoing community support should be considered a 'win' in 2018
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: November 05, 2018, 09:01:07 AM
Quite a long time ago, Stratis was not in the top ten in terms of trading volumes on the marketcap.
I saw that the movement began, some serious news came out or something positive?

PoS coins always have less trading, no miners selling to cover costs, less action for traders.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: November 05, 2018, 08:59:15 AM
It is quite possible to see last minute compromise since the goals can be achieved easily without split. Based on different reading of different analysis and covering ups of this upcoming possible hard fork I have my own opinion. Main goal was to get liquidity for BCH and what could be more good to create hype like this. It looks like in case of fork though chances are little but in either situation coins and cash both will be entering in pockets of those arranged this stage. Let's see how it moves in coming days.

I agree, we need to make some noise to let both sides know a compromise is the best solution, in August 2017 that wasn't possible, let's hope it is NOW!

this makes that 22% is still left to distribute. Only difference is that Byteball tries to distribute it fairly, but Bitcoin basically distributes to those already rich guys who have the most computing power.

22% of coin supply distributed as a final new year moon drop, then Tony exits into the background to enjoy his hard-earned 1% and concentrate on dev work, leaving foundation to assist community members in further promotion activities and spreading adoption. That would put byteball back in top50 almost immediately!

And then what?

The distro is finished, tony concentrates on dev work ... byteball becomes a shit load more decentralized, adoption is driven by motivated community members (the ones who left and/or became disillusioned when distro rules changed) working with funded foundation.

239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: November 04, 2018, 11:10:10 PM
The Skywire testnet is online and growing, with a node count of 7500 so far.
http://discovery.skycoin.net:8001/#/

Since I dumped most of my SKY after InvasionGate circa 100K sat...
It's not crazy to buy back in at 40K sat...
They are 100% prioritizing SkyWire next 2-3 months and standing up a live meshnet is a Big Deal.

Crypto is all about picking your scams carefully and at $24 million cap a working meshnet will 10x that.

A month later SKY is UP 25% at $30 million cap... while most ALT indices have crashed another 20%.

You can check test nodes at the link above...
Up from 7500 to 8100, but much of that is probably virtual test nodes...
Though it would not surprise me if there are ballpark 500 "daily users" running actual hardware and getting paid SKY monthly...
That 500 daily users would be > that ANY project on Ethereum including IDEX... so not bad for the #138 coin.

Agree. It's still around 30M market cap and looking like a good buy. First time of heard of sky. Looks extremely promising but a lot of negative comments here.

Lots of undistributed coins makes people nervous, when the distro is finished SKY could easily x100
240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Partnership with JAXX and ZelCore! on: November 04, 2018, 11:07:49 PM

my personal opinion (not shared by many others I suspect) is that a large part of promotion should be done by the holders of the coin. my reasoning is that this gives the developers the ability to concentrate on what they are good at - developing. as a developer myself (not on the bitcore team, but an independent developer) I am prejudiced towards this view, of course - but I think it's worth pointing out that one of the things that the team excels at, which is rapid technical implementation, would not IMO be possible without having enough time to devote to programming. Note that BTX implemented SegWit far faster than other coins; and note that BTX responded to the recent security bug that affects all forks very quickly ( https://www.reddit.com/r/bitcore_btx/comments/9hg08r/bug_in_bitcoin_code_also_opens_smaller/ ).

in other words, i'm in favor of coin holders following a grass-roots approach, to use political jargon. support in marketing from below, rather than being directed from above. this can be hard to coordinate however, even though all holders of the coin have an incentive to do it (i.e. increase in coin price). i think the trick is to do a little bit each day; maybe just contact one web page where you see no mention of BTX; or update one coin ranking site with accurate data. these little things add up, like taxes.

I agree , best option is devs disappear from sight almost completely, just release software updates and leave everything else to users, then BTX becomes a decentralized currency.
