221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on December 27th on: December 23, 2014, 01:34:34 AM
If they lowered the price to $425 WITH shipping included, I'm sure that they could sell a good lot.

Peers into crystal ball Hmmm, I see $450 USD and $60 shipping per unit minimum 2 per order.
222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on December 27th on: December 22, 2014, 11:19:23 PM
it doesn't have a lid?

Specs ok but don't like the open design. I wish the price were lower also.  Undecided

It does have a lid, just for show. Otherwise the pictures would be identical to S3 Tongue

You might want to read what Bitmain says before posting.  No top or bottom.

You might consider taking your own advice.  BM responded and said there is a bottom, but not a top.  An "open top design." ;-)

...because it's sexy
223  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on December 27th on: December 22, 2014, 08:35:22 PM
Would be nice if Bitmain re-introduced the option to ship via / with EMS - I am sure it will be a lot cheaper than UPS (and obviously DHL). I know they are not as fast as the other behemoths, but we'd be selecting them in that knowledge.

I just went to their site and it was listed as an option with UPS and DHL for S3 orders. Should be the same with s5s
224  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on December 27th on: December 22, 2014, 08:33:52 PM
If they charge for 2 at around 120 for shipping then you will break even at the current price around May. My guess is that the topless case is for heat disipation since the chips release heat at the top.
225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 07, 2014, 05:29:31 AM
Looking to trade or buy S3 coupons. Need 19 of em. I have the following coupons I can trade : (1 coupon for 1 coupon). Ill need to buy the rest from you.

(1)AntMiner C1 Coupon 50 USD off
(3) AntMiner S4 Coupon 400 USD off

These are good until 12-15-14

I need to buy (19) S3 coupons. They sell for $1 a piece on Ebay so if anyone has a lot of 20, I can buy them for $20 in btc. Nobody on Ebay has 20, thats why I am asking here.

Does anyone know if bitmain will accept 20 coupons for 20 S3+?

Vegas

I've got 8 and will give those to you for free. I need your bitmain id to send them.

When you all sell your used mining equipment what has been the most reliable place to sell it?

ebay.de and Estonian local sales websites such as osta.ee

thanks, Tupsu

Spoondoolies sp20 is not a better deal than the S4's. No way. Sp20 you can only overclock by 10% and they do not come with a PSU that will cost you $200 at least. S4 is the best deal out there right now. S4's can run on 240 volts and I just had mine overclocked to 2400 gh each on a single plain old power cord pulling about 14 amps. No one can beat Bitmain these days. Less cost, more hashing power, excellent fast customer support.

Great joke !  Grin

I have 37 Antminer S3(+)  Only 10 of them work with 500GH/s - So I already have expensive power supplies
I have 2 Antminer S4 (S4 is a pure gamble and my 2pc are pure shit , temp sensors failure, impossible to use a lower volts and  frequency without  much x)
I have 6 Antminer C1 - working well (only Two dead pump, endless RMA protsess with syscooling)
5x used Neptune (no problems yet)
1x SP20
2x SP20E (there were problems with the software, which became a quick solution from Spondooliestech)

SP20 are not for overclocking, I bought 15 pieces more for downclocking .
and sell off many sets of  Antminer S3 , which have  thanks bitmains large shipping costs still a good sales value in EU.

More S1 upgrade kits please!!

you could feasibly use the C1 as a pair of upgrade kits, but its not ideal. Not sure why bitmain isnt selling upgrade kits for ~0.3BTC/kit

How many people would be interested in another S1 upgrade kit batch?

I would love to see some again!

Those were a lot of fun. I'd be interested as well.

Bitmain,

Still NOT buying any S3's while cost+shipping cannot ever be recouped.

ig

Today I received the refund asked April 28.
Full refund +10%
........
Email to Arn was sent regarding the Distance sell low , and European low regarding unfair contracts terms , and also that during the purchase and registration process no
information was requested and no verification submitted in regard to a business to business purchase
In the beginning of December Arm will take knc to court for my case but I received the refund  so  I`ll close the case tomorrow with Arn

AHA! Grats on the full refund. I said in the past that KnC can't get along with the b2b bullshit! I did! I did!

Settle down folks.  Thorvald said he was after a refund on a Neptune Batch One. As far as I know Neptune Batch Zero and Batch One were always entitled to a refund based on KNC T&Cs.  His problem was a delay in payment.

The Titan terms of sale were very different.

There was no "non-refundable" statement for the Titan batch 1...

You have to take all their terms and conditions and question them. If Arn said their business-2-business unverified model was bogus, then they will most likely have issues with a no refund clause. Arn exists to protect consumers from operations like KfC. Kudos to thorvald for finding the right avenue for justice and sharing it with us.

One of mine is acting up (an S3) and I've set it to reboot every 2 hours:

* 0,2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20,22  *   *   *     /sbin/shutdown -reboot

Might be simpler as:

0 */2 * * * /sbin/shutdown -reboot

Thanks for the suggestion. Implemented. I freely admit to knowing just enough about crontab to be dangerous.

If you implemented this verbatim you might want to confirm that your Antminer actually has an "/sbin/shtudown" command, I know mine don't, only poweroff and reboot

I've had an ssh session open to the S3 for not quite 24 hours now which tells me it's not actually rebooting, but for some unknown and I don't care reason it appears to have solved the problem and the S3 has continued to hash uninterrupted.

Magic fixes all IT issues at some point. shutdown isn't on S3+ machines.

This should be in your crontab entry:

Code:

0 */2 * * * /sbin/reboot

That is, of course, if the magic stops working and you actually want a command to execute.

Anyone have any experience with BitMain's Umisoo hosting? I see the option under the shipping tab and am curious if anyone has gone that direction with their purchase.

I got a few S4s hosted there. The process is confusing. Your miner gets shipped there and you have to wait for an e-mail to tell you that you have to pay the invoice for 1st month's hosting. Then wait for another e-mail to tell you to configure pools etc. The whole process took nearly a week, so I lost about 4-5 days compared to if I shipped the miners to my own colo.

User interface is clunky, you can't even see which pool is dead/alive, accept/rejects, nothing. I was kind of expecting they would give access to the actual miner's web interface, but that's not the case. I was using their own AntPool and then it stopped working, switched to backup pool and I still don't know why. My miners work at 80-90% rated speed, but that might be an S4-specific issue.

In other words, quite crappy. And pricing is not that great either, 0.13 USD per kW/h at the moment.

Thank you for the update on the place. That power expense is really terrible. I would certainly be better off here at 0.10 USD for energy. I guess these types of situations are good for non-technical people that want to mine, but like you, I like direct access to the miners to make changes as I see fit. Do you have to keep them there for a certain period of time or is it just a month-2-month contract situation?

anyone got 1 coupon they can donate? my bitmain user name is the same as here.

You need S3+, S4 or C1 coupons? I'll send you some since I don't plan on using many.

ever since KnC turned up with BullShit promises, well thought-out lies & paid off shills the whole company has been a complete turd run by cunts and supported by our hard earned funds!

In fairness to the expletive above - solar is an awesome investment if you can get it priced right (and delivered)

I recall another poster discussing solar companies in the same way we discuss ASIC companies - full of deception, lies & false promises but he/she did eventually get what they were looking for.

I looked into solar here in South Texas where the sun shines almost all the time and my power bills are fucking insane. Mining + cooling is nuts. Yeah, scammish bullshit was all I got. It'd cost $50,000 to only save me $200-300 a month. They work their way into the subsidies and price it in such a way that you'd ROI in 10-15 years. Screw that. I looked at the parts they were going to use and labor and saw they were just ripping me off. Told them to f' off. I'll do it myself with some electrician help when they become more efficient. I need a system that can generate 5-10,000 watts in the summer.

BITMAIN Promotion plan for S3+, S4 and C1
$50 coupon for S3+, $400 coupon for S4 and $50 coupon for C1 are issued to customers who ever bought miners from BITMAIN or our official distributors Smiley

I have (12) S4 $400 coupons, and (4) S3+ $50 coupons and (4) C1 $50 coupons. Expire the 30th.

50 cents on the dollar seems fair to me. PM me if you are interested.

Dan

That's not fair. You got them for free. In fact, almost everyone here has them for free and many people will gladly give them away for free. Good luck selling at that price.

I thought the same thing.  They are going for 99 cents buy-it-now on eBay.  Too bad they are only good for 2 weeks.  I'll give away mine.  I have coupons for all 3 models.  What makes me mad is I'm the dumbass who bought an S4 at full price the day before the coupons were given out.  I pleaded with Bitmain to give me a break, but they said no.

That's a case of "penny-wise and pound-foolish." I wouldn't be hard on yourself. BitMain should have done the right thing. Now that $50 they saved has cost them probably 10x that in bad press.

If you guys are even remotely excited about this Solar crap then and are thinking of giving these jackasses more money then you truly deserve to get your asses burned. 1983 pages of proof must not be enough, so please, keep believing.
238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: November 18, 2014, 07:58:17 PM
new coupons are making me think about it  - on the fence about buying new gear to replace the S1s. A lot to think about for sure, but I really don't want to part with any more btc Smiley

EDIT: shipping kills the deal for me. Let me know if you need coupons.

If you're interested in skipping the shipping, and going with co-location, I work with a mine with a large number of S3s that are hosted, so they can be lit up immediately after payment, and as it's based out of Washington, USA the power is really stinking cheap!

I say this, because I have 14.4 TH hosted there, and have had an awesome experience with their hosting, and my house is quiet (although cooler now that winter is here), and it's way more hashrate than I could ever power off my regular home line (and even including hosting, it's still way cheaper than my PUD's price per kWh). Industrial power, a secure facility, redundant Internet, and they aren't running in my bedroom. I like it a lot. Can you tell?

2 cents in Wenatchee, right? I used to live in Redmond and I heard you all get cheap current from the dam.
239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 18, 2014, 05:29:14 AM
I will remove the negative trust I gave to kncminer because I got my coins back and it's the right thing to do.  I would however advise anyone planning on dealing with KNCminer in the future to proceed with extreme caution.

The negative trust should be left in place, it's there for the original issue, not tangible based on how they respond more than half a year later. The negative trust helps people proceed with caution. IMO.

Excellent point.  I was looking for validation.  Negative trust restored.

Also think about all the nonsense you had to go through getting the refund. In any other scenario would you have put up with that? What would your review had been if this were on eBay or Amazon? Keeping it negative is the right choice.
