221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: March 21, 2024, 12:51:59 AM
@fillippone. I disagree. Losing your dominance will only let your competitors defeat you. If Grayscale does not lower their fees, these outflows will continue and give mayor Larry and grandma Cathie the advantage. However, it appears that Grayscale has lower fees on their roadmap. This presently might stop the outflows.

The market where Grayscale did not have big competitors against their investment products has clearly ended.

Grayscale CEO Michael Sonnenshein said the company expects to reduce fees on its GBTC Bitcoin ETF in the months ahead. The move likely comes as GBTC continues to witness outflows while other competitors such as BlackRock and Fidelity grab massive market share from Grayscale.

“I’ll happily confirm that, over time, as this market matures, the fees on GBTC will come down,” Sonnenshein told CNBC in an interview on March 18. He added that fees tend to be higher during the initial stages and gradually come down as the market matures and demand for the products rises.

222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: March 20, 2024, 04:32:37 AM
We can bet beginning today. If Dune is not nominated for all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay on the oscar awards for 2025, you will win $50. However, if Dune 2 wins best director, best adapted screenplay and best best picture give me 20x odds on my $50. Is asking for 20x odds too much? You can argue for this, however, it is also presently very early to know if Dune 2 will be in the oscar awards. This might be a $50 donation for you hehehe.
An interesting proposal but I think in the end it would end uo like your previous bet- no one winning. Its almost certain that Dune Part 2 will get nominated in those categories you mentioned, while I think its unlikely it wins the Best Picture one. Even though I liked Dune 2, it will be a weak year if that is the best movie of 2024.

@Rikafip. In the cinema, in english, without subtitles.
If they don't show subtitles in your cinema, that means you are from English speaking country?

Also, if you have HBO Max or HBO Go, Dune 2 might be available on April 15.
Or if you don't mind downloading from trackers. Wink Anyway, looking forward to April 15th to watch it once again.

It appears that I have not made the proposal very clear. If Dune 2 is not nominated for all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay, I lose the bet. Also, if Dune 2 does not win on all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay, I also lose the bet. However, if this movie wins on these 3 categories mentioned, I win 20x of the bet. This is a donation for the other bettor if he accepts hehe.
223  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tornado cash founders charged with money laundering/sanctions violations on: March 20, 2024, 03:46:02 AM
Privacy is not a crime. However, it appears that if a person uses a mixer or a something similar to Tornado Cash, the government can call it moneylaundering even if you only want to hide your cryptocoins in a personal private wallet. I wish the Dutch prosecutors will lose in this trial.

The trial will begin on March 26.

Alexey Pertsev, the Tornado Cash developer who has become a symbol of state overreach on crypto crime, laundered more than $1.2 billion in dirty money, according to an indictment by Dutch prosecutors obtained by DL News.

Pertsev, who is scheduled to stand trial in the Dutch city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch beginning March 26, “made a habit of committing money laundering,” according to the three-page document, which was written in Dutch and was revealed Tuesday.

Pertsev has denied he violated money laundering laws ever since he was arrested in August 2022.

“Prosecutors are suspecting Pertsev of money laundering and they have described it in a general way, but they don’t specify which exact acts he has committed to take part in the criminal offence,” Keith Cheng, Pertsev’s lawyer, told DL News Tuesday

@ChiBitCTy. Agreed. Also, the Chargers have a new general manager and head coach. It will not be very surprising if this is the beginning for a formation of a team that they want to bring to the playoff in 5 years and challenge for a superbowl. If this speculation is correct, the general manager will certainly need to trade and draft younger players for Jim Harbaugh to position around Justin Herbert. This might also be a longterm roadmap for the Chargers, I reckon.
I think they might be relying on Harbaughs knowledge of the upcoming college players and be looking to get some gems out of the draft and be looking forward to the next few years not having to pay high salaries. Everyone at the skill positions minus Herbert will be on rookie deals, they'll be able to do alot in free agency next year if their draft picks don't hit this year.

You are very much correct! Also on why some people are shaking their heads on the removal of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Keenan will be 32 years old and Williams is always injured. Ekeler was also injured during the beginning of the season and was he injured again during the season? The Chargers' new general manager clearly shows that the team does not want to pay them high salaries while they are in IR list. The teams that traded for them will certainly have problems.

@zasad@. If CZ helped or did not help Sam Bankman Fried create FTX, this does not change the argument that CZ does not have political connections in America.

On FTX, CZ was an early investor in the exchange, however, on 2021 Sam bought back the shares and this ended their relationship. This was also when Binance was being asked many questions from different regulators around the world including the SEC.

Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange by volume, was an early investor in crypto exchange FTX, which 29-year-old Sam Bankman-Fried founded in 2019. This week, the investment relationship suddenly ended. In an extensive interview with Decrypt, Bankman-Fried discussed why.

“We recently repurchased shares from Binance to buy them out of our cap table,” Bankman-Fried said. “I think it just makes sense given the role that our businesses are playing in the space. It can also give us more flexibility going forward.”

On Tuesday, FTX announced a $900 million raise from 60 high-profile investors including Sequoia, Paradigm, Softbank, Paul Tudor Jones, and NFL quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen. It was the largest ever funding round for a crypto exchange, valuing FTX at a cool $18 billion.

I predicted FTX to be the Binance killer, however, it appears that CZ killed FTX hehehehe.

Don't tell me that you watched Dune 2 via some bad cam rip??

By the way, I just came back home from the cinema, watched the Dune. It was a good movie but honestly I liked the first one a little bit more. Unfortunately I don't think that it has the quality to win Best Picture but then again,  much worse movies won it so why not Dune 2.
wow I was about to go to watch it at cinema but if you didn't like it better than the first movie, I think I'm not going to watch it this time. I didn't like the first Dune at all, I found it very boring and worse than the "original" movie from David Lynch, released in 1984. Many people say Dune II is way better, but it doesn't seem to be unanimous finally. If I don't find it better than the first one, it will be my bet against bbc.reporter next year maybe lol  Grin

We can bet beginning today. If Dune is not nominated for all of best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay on the oscar awards for 2025, you will win $50. @FinneysTrueVision. Is this fight for Pacman a comeback fight or is this only an exhibition? He is 45 years old already, will he fight again if he wins against Conor Benn? This will be headshaking, however, I will certainly watch these fights hehee.

On Anthony Joshua, presently it appears much of the fans of boxing are speculating a fight between him and Tyson Fury. But would it not be much better if he should challenge Oleksandr Usyk again? I reckon this new Joshua might knockout Usyk. Ben Davison appears to have made Anthony Joshua discover something from himself.

I reckon on 2025 he might be the first CEO to create a startup in prison and his angel investors are the gangs and the guards.

It would be a bit hasty to forget Madoff, who was doing business in prison.

Quote
Bernie Madoff is Now the King of Prison Hot Chocolate
Ten years ago, Bernie Madoff was dealing with Swiss banks. Now he’s dealing in Swiss Miss, selling hot chocolate he’s stockpiled from the prison commissary.

https://www.vice.com/en/article/mgke38/bernie-madoff-is-now-a-prison-hot-chocolate-kingpin

Hehehehe selling hot chocolate that he stockpiled from the prison commissary. I give respect to this man and I reckon if he was given more years in prison, he might have monopolized the hot chocolate market in prison heheh. Also, I was only joking on Sam creating the first startup on prison. However, Sam might also have stockpiled SOL that he can sell to the people on prison.

In any case, news update, federal prosecutors have said that Sam should be sentenced for 40 to 50 years. He will be sentenced on March 28.

Federal prosecutors said disgraced former FTX chief Sam Bankman-Fried, convicted in November in a multibillion-dollar fraud case, should spend 40 to 50 years in prison, the New York Times reported.

Bankman-Fried, who faces a maximum of 110 years, is to be sentenced on March 28.

“Justice requires that he receive a prison sentence commensurate with the extraordinary dimensions of his crimes,” the prosecutors said in a filing to Judge Lewis A. Kaplan.

Imagine if pic related actually happen. Can the Bengals make it work though, contract-wise, can they fit all three of them?

If Jefforson stays to play in Minnesota with those bums they have at quarterback, he's going to get murdered on one of those hospital balls. Not worth it.

What is this picture? Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow in the Vikings or Justin Jefferson traded to the Bengals hehehe.

I reckon they can make it work if they trade some players like Tee Higgins and if they can trick Chase to accept a low upgrade to his rookie contract hehe. However, if he wants to win a superbowl with the Bengals, he should accept.

When I was just hanging out last night, somewhere around 10pm, the last thing I expected to come across my phone was a Fantasy Pros new update saying that the Chicago Bears have traded for Keenan Allen.  While Keenan is getting in his latter years (NFL player wise) he's one hell of a player, and getting him for only a 4th round pick is great value.

I am all for bringing in Caleb Williams, but either way, bringing him in or keeping Fields, the Bears are loaded at receiving options, with WR1-DJ Moore, WR2-Keenan Allen, TE1-Cole Kmet, TE2-Gerald Everett ..loving it.

The new coach appears to be starting to make important changes on the Chargers. Who is rumored to replace Keenan Allen?

To be clear, the real replacement for Allen on the depth chart would be Malik Nabers, who the Chargers will presumably pick in the first round. Nabers will come in as the WR1 on the depth chart and will (hopefully) keep this passing offense from drowning.

But in the sense of bringing in a current NFL player to replace Allen on the depth chart, Gallup may be the most likely candidate because of his ties to Lal. Joe Hortiz has proven this offseason that existing ties to the coaching staff is important and could shoot someone up the priority list.

I will be on my second viewing later with friends. I am pretending that I have not watched it before hehehehe. Gurney is very much alive this is shocking I am very excited heheehe. Duncan might also be alive hehehee.

@zasad@. Did what? Dump FTT on everyone's heads with mouths open to kill FTX? This is a survival tactic. CZ needed to kill FTX before it can kill Binance because Sam was beginning to use his political connections and he was also talking to regulators already.

Pay the US treasury department $4 billion?  This is a very expensive settlement with uncertain conditions. If CZ had political connections in America this would only be a slap on the wrist.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 15, 2024, 05:48:23 AM
Mike Tyson is 57 years old. I watched the videos that are being shared on social media to show that he is still very fast and his punches very strong. However, these videos do not show everything. Show me a video of Mike Tyson doing his quick moves and strong punches for 3 minutes for 1 round and do 10 rounds of this. I reckon in the last minute of the video he will have his tongue hanging to his knees and breathing very much similar to a very tired dog.

In any case, if this is on Netflix, this is not a payperview? Will this be available for all Netflix subscribers? I reckon all sports organizations like the NFL should also do this.

It is funny how people already suggest Jake to order coffin and be ready to die. Like Jake is a total trash in boxing. Will an amateur is able to do such trick? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvU8c8dMmMI/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=a21f456d-6357-444f-a176-27bbc800ba5b

With Mike, I dont think all 10 rounds would be needed to win, all he needs to do is to catch Jake at ropes or got him stuck in corner and unload series of punches. No matter where they hit, head, body or block, they will hurn anyway.

On Mike Tyson, I cannot disagree and I also cannot agree. I reckon that we should watch his fight against Roy Jones Jr again heheh. It appears that he might have the stamina to finish 10 rounds without breathing similar to a tired dog with fur stuck on throat. However, Roy Jones is also very old and he also might not be trying very hard because he might have a high blood pressure attack hehehehee. But in all seriousness if the sportsbooks give very good odds for Mike Tyson it would certainly be a bet for him and wish he will knockout this Disneyland boy Jake Paul.

According to this article Mike Tyson is the underdog.

As of Thursday, March 7, popular betting site Odds Shark listed Tyson as an underdog against Paul for the July 2024 fight. Vegas odds from the site listed Tyson as a +325 underdog and Paul as a -500 favorite. Odds Shark explained the 30-year age gap between the former heavyweight champ and the YouTuber turned boxer playing a major factor in determine the chances of who is likely to win four months from now.

234  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tether Cryptocurrency Becoming ‘Preferred Choice’ Among Money Launderers on: March 15, 2024, 04:49:19 AM
@zasad@. I disagree.  SBF had a settlement with the American government and paid $4 billion and yet he cannot get out of the country because he is a flight risk? If he had proper connections he would remain to be the CEO of Binance. Also, dumping of FTT might be CZ's tactic to kill FTX. If he did not do this, FTX would continue becoming bigger and Sam with his political connections would become more powerful.

If you also want to witness political connections in use, observe Sam Bankman Fried's case. It is being rumored that he will get out of prison within 5 or 6 months.
I don’t believe the rumors and there are a lot of victims in the SBF case, so even if he is released from prison under house arrest, he will still spend many years in the courts.
CZ is as cunning as SBF and he realized what SBF and his team were doing and decided to kill two birds with one stone.

Why did you change the quote from CZ to SBF? I said it was CZ who paid the American government $4 billion to settle his case, however, after settlement it does not appear to be settled hehehe. CZ's passport was confiscated and he has a sentencing to attend. This is a person who clearly does not have any political connections under the American jurisdiction.

In any case, I agree that CZ needed to dump FTT to kill FTX. If he did not do this, Sam would become more powerful and he would have certainly killed Binance using his exchange as competition and his political connections. According to the latest articles it appears that the FTX estate can pay all of the creditors in full which implies that FTX's problems were only liquidity and cashflow problems.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy sell BTC? on: March 15, 2024, 04:17:31 AM
Sooner or later Michael Saylor or MicroStrategy would sell its bitcoin because, in the end, the Company wants a piece of the profit tho I believe both Michael Saylor the company MicroStrategy gonna sell all of it, Maybe they gonna sell like a quarter or even a half of it but not all of it.

It's all for profit, so if they feel it's not enough, they won't sell it all, but if they need money or feel it's profitable enough, there's no reason not to sell it all. I don't rule out the possibility that they will sell out of bitcoin during the next bull season when bitcoin peaks and that will probably be the cause of another bear market. And then, they continue to buy back bitcoin during bear season at lower prices.

Don't be too naive to believe that they will never sell all their bitcoins, they are large organizations and have enough potential to manipulate the market more than we think.

On Michael Sailor Moon, I disagree. I speculate that it is not only profit for him. He is certainly doing this for his legacy and also why would he sell bitcoin if this is going to become something similar to gold? Uncle Larry and Aunt Cathie has been buying much of the bitcoin cousin Barry has been dumping.

There was a news article that mentioned Blackrock has presently more bitcoin than Microstrategy. This is only the beginning of this race who creates a legacy. Will it be Michael Sailor Moon or the new mayor of bitcoin Larry Fink.

Just because they sell bitcoins and make a profit doesn't mean they will never buy them back when they drop in price. Like all of us here, we will sell and take profits when bitcoin hits $100k or $200k. But is anyone saying they will never go back to buying bitcoin or will people wait for bitcoin to drop to $50k and then start another accumulation?
If I remember correctly, blackrock is a fund that owns assets worth more than 10 trillion USD, do you think that if they buy, buy and never sold, they could have that huge amount of assets?

Who said they are dumping? I did not say this. I said that this will be a race on how who the king of bitcoin. This will be a race berween Larry Fink vs. Michael Saylor. I reckon they want to create a legacy that will be remembered as being financial geniuses who became a king of this new type of digital currency. They are also beginning to notice each other.

While the crypto asset industry faces fear and uncertainty over regulatory clarity in the United States, trading of Bitcoin is hardly contested by regulators. Speaking to CNBC, Saylor said Bitcoin is the “Most certain thing in an economy full of uncertainty.” Also, he welcomed the spot ETF developments from the financial giants. However, he rejected the argument that the ETFs would threaten his company’s investment strategy.

“You can think of Bitcoin as a beautiful house in a scary neighborhood that you have to pay in cash and takes a year to buy and never rent. Whereas the spot Bitcoin ETF is like the same beatiful house in a nice neighborhood that you can buy tomorrow with no down payment.”

236  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price history, ATHs and bottoms. on: March 15, 2024, 03:36:45 AM
Yeah right now we are on a similar path as those in the past during the halving period. Generally we go up exponentially and this time we've been rallying before the halving which is fairly new, especially since we broke the ATH. Halving will be most likely on April 20 or around that day.

Currenly we got tons of money entering crypto. We had $2B in tether print yesterday, every stock trading session we got +$500M in new flows, we also got Saylor which bought $800M worth of BTC at like $60K. Most likely as MSTR keeps rallying he will keep issuing those convertibles notes and will keep buying them and the price of the stock will rally and he will sell more and buy more bitcoin.

Doesnt look like the train is stopping anytime soon.

Agreed on this train might not stop, however, it appears that the market makers have begun punishing these late buyers and the whales appear to be using them as exit liquidity. On March 5 many traders were liquidated. On March 12 and 14, another liquidation of late buyers. Also preently, another liquidation. These traders will not buy again on this price or they have no more money to buy hehehehehe. The people who were bearish for much of the pump and have quickly become bullish are a warning sign that it might be the situation to become a contrarian. They are very much similar to our favorite uncle Jim Cramer.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 14, 2024, 03:40:46 AM
I almost fell out of my seat when I heard this fight being announced, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense.  Jake Paul doesn't fight legitimate fighters, and I'm of course not saying Tyson isn't legitimate, as he's on of the greatest boxers of all time, but he's what, 60 years old and Paul is like 30..just another money grab in my opinion. I honestly can't take any of these fights seriously.  I think they are rigged.

Mike Tyson is 57 years old. I watched the videos that are being shared on social media to show that he is still very fast and his punches very strong. However, these videos do not show everything. @Rikafip. I cannot disagree on Anatomy of the fall. It is a very good movie and I also would argue that Sandra Hüller gave the best performance among the best actress nominations.

On Dune 2, yes I have watched it already. I need another viewing and a 3rd one with subtitles hehe. I am starting to speculate that it might also have a chance to win best cinematography, editing, sound, production design, best costume design, the best musical score and some of the awards where it will be nominated heheheheh.

News update. Another fud campaign from the American government creared through the treasury department.

I reckon before they inspect carefully every transaction created on bitcoin and the cryptospace, I reckon that they first should be it on the banks within their jurisdiction. The biggest currency used as a medium of exchange for terrorist financing is the American dollar!

Financial institutions have reported $165 million in potential crypto transactions that may be tied to Hamas, according to the bureau of the U.S. Treasury department that combats terrorism financing.

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network analyzed suspicious activity reports filed between January 2020 and October 2023, according to a letter signed by Deputy Treasury Secretary Adewale Adeyemo. The letter, reviewed by CoinDesk, was directed to the leaders of the Senate Banking and House Financial Services Committees and asked for their support in passing legislation that would broaden the Treasury Department's oversight authority over crypto transactions.
