221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 19, 2013, 10:36:14 PM
THIS:  I personally will NOT accept delivery past december 31.. and will ask for my 210btc's back at Jan 01, 2014 0001H

So what will you do when instead they give you USD back at the BTC exchange rate (settled in USD) during the time of the purchase?

This issue has been beat to death.... if paid directly to HF wallet for batch 1 customers.. refunds are in btc.  I  would not have ordered from them if this was not the case.. i learned all too well from the june2012 BFL order.. (or maybe i didn't learn so well Smiley )

And if BTC drops to $20 at the time of your refund, will you still only accept BTC?  It seems that no one ver considers this possibility.  Wink

Yes, I would be totally fine with that.  I paid with BTC and I got my BTC back.  It would have been the same as just keeping my btc which is what I should have done instead of buying my FailFast miner.

Yeah, me too. I'd be fine with that. I'm a buy and hold investor. I rarely sell my BTC, and if BTC plummeted right now I wouldn't be panic selling.
222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 19, 2013, 08:10:01 PM
Are they still shipping out in the next couple of days? I haven't heard anything from them at all. That Dec 31st deadline is getting to be awfully close.
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: New bull trap has been set... on: December 19, 2013, 07:24:49 PM
Today has been like taking candy from a baby and I'm not even a trader. I'm just watching the graphs and catching solid returns on the upticks. Each time making $40-50 per BTC per trade.

If you can't see a pattern to todays trading then you really should stop trying to trade. Don't ask me to elaborate because I've made $1k today and I'm not even a trader, so in that respect I would be giving you my trade secrets. Not that it's a secret, just have a look at the price.

You got lucky. Tomorrow you will probably lose $1k.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 19, 2013, 05:34:36 PM
This does it.
It looked like the range between 510 and 570 was a good range to sell at in preparation for a second dip. That hasn't come yet.
I could buy back in at a loss now, but looking back at my previous trades, every time I did that, if I just took a step back and waited, I could have bought back at a minor profit instead.
I've placed my bids now accordingly, and am going to take a break from this bloody trading (literally) until they are filled. You'll hear from me when I am ready to dive back into the fray.

This was my feeling too.
225  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is China Going Up Right Now? on: December 19, 2013, 04:30:59 PM
It's actually pretty surprising. If you read the news, almost all the bitcoin news is bad, and much if it is just plain wrong. There are articles about how bitcoin has been crashing just published in the last couple hours but in the last day or so bitcoin has been going up! I guess those articles were writted 2-3 days ago.
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fear will replace greed. on: December 18, 2013, 11:31:34 PM
Wasn't this kind of the case with everyone who bought at above $200 back in April?

Just hodl and wait for the next bubble when Bitcoin will go to $5,000 or more.

I agree that bitcoin probably will go down in the short term. But it will eventually go back up. Especially if the Winklevoss ETF gets approved.
227  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 18, 2013, 10:08:24 PM
Why are  you saying they aren't shipping in time? Last official word was shipping this saturday (21st). For americans, shipments to the USA from canada using UPS next day should generally arrive next day.

when did they say this?
228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 18, 2013, 09:42:07 PM
Since it looks like HashFast isn't going to ship in time, we all have an important decision to make.

Do we accept the machines late and run them anyways and hope to break even?

Or do we ask for our money back and get 10.04 BTC or so guaranteed. I guess it really depends on when the MPP chips are received, which is something they haven't talked at all about yet.
229  Economy / Speculation / What is going to happen when China wakes up today? on: December 18, 2013, 05:57:32 PM
I know the news is already old, but I predict another dip when the sun comes up in China tomorrow morning.

I'm actually surprised we didn't see a drop below $400, and I don't think that $300 is necessarily out of the question right now.

I sold a bunch last night and I'm going to wait to see what happens before I buy back in.

230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: December 18, 2013, 05:19:17 PM
They (should) include a RPi.

Hi MrTeal,

The Baby Jet comes with a Raspberry Pi running cgminer on Raspbian Linux.

More info here:

https://hashfast.com/the-baby-jet-controller/

Quote

The Baby Jet ships with a built in Raspberry Pi model B. This acts as the controller for the one or two GN chips in the Baby Jet. The controller talks to the chips over its internal serial port. The Raspberry Pi will ship with an SD Card pre-loaded with the standard Debian/Linux derivative Raspbian OS, complete with CGMiner pre-installed. You can SSH into it to configure it, and install whatever other software you need. The Raspberry Pi’s Ethernet port and 2 USB ports are available on the back panel of the Baby Jet for you to connect to.

The Sierra needs something a little more powerful than the Pi.  Any old 1U server, desktop, or laptop is fine.  Even a newer Android tablet should work!

Thanks for confirming that for us - or for me as I apparently I was the only one who didn't know this.
One quick question though, does the rasp  pi image come with a fancy web gui as well ? Not that It's needed, but I'm just curious to know.
This is a heads up: If they run the OS from the build-in SD card it's likely gonna fail sooner or later (filesystem damages) and will have to be re-imaged, as happened to the bitfury machines. So be prepared to swap any failing SD cards.

Yes, this is definitely true. I have 5 raspberry pis, most of which I'm actively using all the time and I've had to replace two SD cards in the past couple months so far.

Guys, I don't have any money in BF, I'm just an observer. But I think this needs to be your last straw- I would quit letting Danny make excuses and demand the full explanation.

He clearly can't keep promises, so I wouldn't trust him. Ukyo is either a scammer or a liar who can't keep BTC entrusted to him safe. Either way, he has lost all respect from me and I don't see why anyone should still be sticking up for him.

Start filing your lawsuits against Ukyo or whatever your contingency plan is.

I demanded a full explanation from the start.

Ukyo definitely lied.  First he lied saying that the issue was a technical problem with the wallet, and then he lied again telling us on IRC that the funds were all safe.

I agree that a lawsuit is the best way forward.  The discovery process should bring out some answers at least.

Unfortunately, I'm beginning to think you are right. Sad

Now, is it better to get a lawyer in Texas, since that is where ukyo lives? What kind of lawyer should we be looking for exactly anyways.

Why no tweets in 4 days?? This doesn't look good. I don't see how they can possibly make the deadline. They don't even seem to be working weekends!
233  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: We're developing a card for you to spend BTC like cash, would you use it? on: December 16, 2013, 08:34:53 PM
We'd use it but there isn't any way it is going to happen. Bitinstant announced one a long time ago but the regulations make it impossible.

I suggest you give up.

So it seems safe to say you must report earnings if you had funds from trading on exchanges deposited in your account to the IRS. If you are mining at home can you write off a portion of your electrical bill?

That depends on your situation. Generally speaking, though, you can deduct business expenses that are ordinary and necessary. Buying video cards would be both of these, buying a big screen TV to watch while mining would be neither.

Yes, but there are a lot of rules you need to follow if you are operating a business out of your home. If you are attempting to write off electricity you probable need to have a separate meter on your mining equipment so you can say exactly how much electricity it is using and write off that portion.

Also note that you are writing it off against your mining income. So you need to declare every satoshi you mine and the exchange rate it was at the time you mined it and declare it as income.
Well that first bit is simply not true.  You can make estimates as long as they are reasonable (for instance, 24/7 mining @ 275w per device for 3 devices = $X).

Sure, unless you are audited, then you might have some trouble. Saying that you have a business out of your home is a big red flag for being audited. You need to keep your business and personal expenses very separate.
235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: December 16, 2013, 04:35:17 PM
As someone said earlier, where is the Dec 2014 option?

Seriously, I'm shocked that anyone actually ordered from them again after they were ELEVEN MONTHS late with the last generation of their technology. Normally, I'm very much against blaming the victim, but you have got to be an idiot for ever doing business with BFL. They are absolute scum.
236  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Moving Forward/Resolution Process on: December 16, 2013, 04:27:48 PM
What I want to know that any identity documents I sent to bitfunder and weexchange will be destroyed?
Another question I've been waiting to see answered. Seems to be continually danced around or ignored.
Users need assurance that every personal document is destroyed together with (any) backup copies.
How do you want to make sure they destroyed our documents - this is impossible..

Agree, but at least this would help:
1. Statement that it is destroyed an what method was used
2. Statement that WeEx does not have any other copies than it was destroyed.
3. cosigned statement of 3rd party (witness) that it was done as it was said in 1)

My $0.02

This is a complete waste of time. There are much more serious and important things to worry about. Namely, the millions of dollars owed to investors.

Did Bitfunder/weexchange have a clear policy regarding their handling of identity documents? If not, then you are out of luck. If you are uncomfortable sending them copies of your ID, well, then you should have never have sent them.

I really hope that ukyo doesn't waste a second of his already busy schedule dealing with this.

The interviewer is only up 75%?? What a loser!

I'm a recent adopter and I'm up 10,000%.
238  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: USA capital gains on: December 16, 2013, 06:00:47 AM
If a profit from Bitcoin sales is counted as capital gains, can I discount the capital losses incurred by e.g., stocks?

Yup.

Please do send lawyers after me, I have no liability to missing coins and my time is expensive, I am the one trying to get people their coins back. Like I have said before if you don't want that I am happy to not worry about certain individuals. More than happy to do that considering the attitude some people have towards me on here.

When it is POSSIBLE to release the full information as to what happened, that information will be posted and many on here will quickly become quiet. Has no one given it the thought that by revealing too much information could result in a decreased chance of getting those coins back?

The reason why the coins will be available for withdrawal to your own wallets on Monday is down to the precaution of making sure the remaining funds don't go missing too!

I don't know why people are giving you such a hard time. I realize you are only trying to help and I really appreciate it. I guess people are just frustrated and losing their patience and are looking for someone to complain to, especially singe ukyo hasn't spoken publicly in a while.
