2201  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: August 19, 2014, 09:24:16 AM
it is not flash crash
It is exchange manipulation to trigger stop loss on MT4 trading platform with leverage.

This is the most likely explanation. It has happened before and will happen again. If you trust the exchange enough to keep lowball bids there, you can make lotsa money. Being leveraged long is not very good proposition with these liquidation crashes to 102 and 308...  Cry

I had some tweets with Come-from-Beyond regarding this paper:

Your comment about anonymous mining has already been responded to by smooth who indicated that mining on i2p will work just fine, but the increased latency would likely lead to a higher orphan rate than mining over TCP. So saying that we "can't" build anonymity into mining when we already have is quite bizarre.
I thought that anonymous mining is an all or nothing case, am I missing something?
I mean all nodes should mine the same anonymous way in order to achieve real network anonymity, right?

Bitfreak, glad to see that you are finally releasing your mini-blockchain coin.
I have been watching the other two threads for over a year!
Me too! Kudos!

Could anyone explain to me why there's too much fuss about anon coins and how would ordinary users benefit from this feature?
Say, someone wants to buy 2nd hand ps4 from someone. Why would he be so eager to use cryptos with anon feature and hide his transactions?

If you don't feel that privacy is important, I invite you to publish ALL of your UNEDITED credit card and bank statements, ever, on the Internet.

No?  Now consider someone who actually has wealth.  Suppose you have a billion dollars in spare change (after the last multinational corp you bought) and a daughter in elementary school.  Do you want every Corsican and Byelorussian ex patriate within 500km to be able to determine just how large a ransom to ask for, when they leave her left hand in your mailbox?

Suppose instead that you are a middle-level cadre running a department in a satellite city of Chongqing.  Making arrangements for entrepreneurs to build the New China has provided you with a substantial quantity of yuan that you need to move to Cambridge, for Harvard tuition, a boxster and a nice flat.  BoC is off the table.  Bitcoin leaves a trail similar to the heat trail a satellite sees when watching a nuclear submarine transit the pacific:  A big red arrow pointing directly to your location.

These are not merely "first world problems".

No one is asking you to use monero if it doesn't serve your interests.  But I do claim that it is a crucial protection from totalitarian control of your political and religious activism, and can be used to deny ANYONE who may wish to seize your wealth the information necessary to do so.  The tech to make this easy enough to use so that those who are motivated, but not technically exceptional, can do so, is not present.  But Monero puts it in reach.

We live in a world of increasing risks.  Transactional privacy enables you to manage many important risks in useful ways.  The captive coopted mass of circus-goers will not fret about this, as they butter the bread for their grilled government cheese sandwiches.  Those who have something which they consider their own, something to protect, will understand this.

Governments control the cheese consumers.  But those who control the governments have something to protect.
It is all or nothing for me - I would if everybody else would too.

Either 100% transparency or 100% anonymity - Bitcoin is neither (and it hurts in my case that on the one hand I am stolen without being able to do nothing and on the other hand if I want to play 'fair' -for tax purposes etc- EVERYBODY knows my moves!).

EDIT: Regarding transparency a perfect book is 'Transparent Society' from David Brin, though he ignores cryptography and it's possible implications (not having to go in a 'cams everywhere / watch the watchers' idealscenario..

You have been reported troll  Wink

Probably a dropbox employee, lol.

Why would he give anything back?  Unless he was giving the whole amount back minus the bounty, which would actually make some sense..  re; you offered this reward, i am giving it all back now minus the reward, be more careful in the future, best of luck, thanks for all the chips

Dropbox had nothing to do with it.  There were multiple thieves involved but Klee knows one of the thieves personally.  She is a small, thin woman with dark hair in her thirties.

So why dont he make his moves outside and get this woman as fast as possible so people here can stop making maps on the blockchain.
He is a troll ignore him..

I got in my watch up a scare attempt, a user I don't know with a V mask sent this:

Hey andro
How u doing?

his number is xxxxxx

EDIT: Maybe I know him, I will investigate some more in case it was a false alarm
False alarm.

Rocket was wrong unfortunately, GoDaddy is irrelevant.

We have some other clues though, the hunt will continue. I have my machines to be analysed by forensic experts, I formatted iMac but TimeMachines have everything!

I gather more people who have lost money like this so we will coordinate our efforts..

klee, is there any clear evidence how the hack was done?
Not yet - biggest chance are either from FB or dropbox.

Tonight I will be not available here, tomorrow I will try to write a thorough report on what happened etc

What if it was a stolen credit card that was used to pay for the domain?
That could be a plus for me legally

It was the gmail pwd he stole from me - only he could know this so he used it as proof he was serious

What - was the gmail password also on the compromised dropbox account!?
Or did he hack more than just your dropbox account?

He also sent 217.5096BTC  Shocked

coward hacker + community pressure on coward hacker + not willing to drop it until result = one fucked hacker

Sad the hacker will only see his new child again when he ends up in the cell next to him  Angry Cheesy

Yeah, no sympathy from me. Not that I actually believe the newborn story. It's just a pathetic coward begging not to be hurt, once he realised he wouldn't get away with it and it woudln't go away.

Please nail this a-hole to the cross klee and make this a good news story for the bitcoin community, in the end. We're all here in support.
i wont forget you for the reward...
