2221  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cops stealing $50k on: October 07, 2014, 03:58:23 AM
This is why anytime you have any interaction with the police you always record it.

There are no good cops.

Cops need to send a no-nonsense message across to criminals, which is why they act rough most of the times.
As long as they don't cross the line, I don't mind a rough-and-tough cop.

So, I just picked up some coins @ 329, tell me why I made a huge mistake...

"319 currently" because you are going to lose purchasing power.

Lose purchasing power to what level?  Grin
2223  Economy / Speculation / Re: why the bitcoin price is going down ? on: October 05, 2014, 02:16:46 AM
Everyone is selling right now because they think the price go lower.. (maybe will happen) so they wont lose a lot of money

Ding, ding, ding we have a winner, but why do they think the price is going to go down? Because bitcoin's value was blown way out of proportion by speculators and the mt gox fraud, now it will go down to the a market cap that is some where near what is need to facilitate trades, which is like 20 bucks.

What is needed to facilitate trades is not a small / high market cap, but stability.  Smiley
2224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why didn't you just listen to igorr, falling, Sevvero? Would have MADE money. on: October 05, 2014, 02:15:25 AM
If you are that smart ... give us some more info about the future of BTC... where will it go to and when?
Already told you it will go down sub 300, just wait.

The possibility doesn't seem remote now.  Smiley
2225  Economy / Speculation / Re: $322.04 Just hit on Bstamp Sat 21:08 GMT 04/10/14 on: October 05, 2014, 02:13:29 AM
Don't additional coins get dumped by miners every Monday morning?
Wonder where that will lead to...
2226  Economy / Speculation / Re: If everyone who reads this thread spends ~$500 on buying more BTC... on: October 05, 2014, 02:06:33 AM
i think if every bct user is buying 1 btc right now, im pretty sure its gonna make a difference.

but too many bear zealots here  Angry

Might not be enough bitcoins to go around, if every user tried to buy 1 bitcoin.  Grin
2227  Economy / Speculation / Re: Euromillions €100 million jackpot on: October 03, 2014, 04:53:04 AM
It would be interesting to see if the mere depositing of millions of dollars at the exchange triggered a mysterious unexplained rally Wink

One for the conspiracy crowd there!

If thought about this as well. I would just get lawyers to have a meeting with the exchange operators all at the same time around the world, bring in a suit case full of cash, and make sure nobody touches anything while the lawyer and the operator put in market buys at the same time. Otherwise they would front run like crazy knowing you are about to buy it all up.

If that happens, just make an announcement that you cancelled your plans.
And watch the price drop again like crazy.  Grin
2228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Merchant adoption, currency talk & the payment system are distractions on: October 03, 2014, 04:39:41 AM
Speculators are the distraction. Bitcoin was supposed to be a petty-cash system for the Internet. That's happening.

The price of Bitcoin has leveled out, and the difficulty is now leveling out. Merchant adoption is up. Bitcoin is getting used for its intended purpose. It's starting to behave like a useful tool rather than a get-rich-quick scheme.

Once the price starts showing an inkling of moving up again, the speculators will rush in again. I am not selling any of my bitcoins, until the next halving of the block reward. So whether btc goes to $1 or $10,000 in the next 2 years, it does not matter to me.

2229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Is Dying, And why it is different this time. on: October 03, 2014, 04:20:49 AM

Just dropping in for a coffee......

What a total load of crap crypto turned out to be. Biggest waste of 8 months of my life EVER!!!
So anyway, I'm totally over it now! All my crapto thoughts are now banished to a galaxy far, far, away.....

Luckily, I am a TIMELORD!

Then you can live the same dream we all have of going back in time to 2009 and buying $10 worth of bitcoins, then travelling forward to November 2013 and selling them for $10 million.  Grin

Or hope to make millions in 2017.  Wink
2230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Adoption Has Reached a New All Time High on: October 03, 2014, 03:53:51 AM
IMO, this is a metric worth measuring. More important than price I think.

I guess this metric would be easier to manipulate than the price, once it becomes widely tracked.
2231  Economy / Speculation / Re: what if companies start to make their own coin ? on: October 03, 2014, 03:51:54 AM
The reality is most of the sites are already using virtual currencies..! not reddit already use Reddit gold, apple just launched there Apple Pay.. Google wallet.. etc etc. I do realize what you are saying but its gonna be pointless for them to do so because I don't think its gonna add any value to the brand unless they launch a decentralized sys and that's not possible with any of them.

The whole point of pseudonymity will be lost using these currencies. I just hate it when I have to sign in with my microsoft/google/facebook/yahoo account for some unrelated services. For this reason, I will not these other virtual currencies. I am sure that there are a lot of people who think like me
2232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crazy world. Bitcoin down, Doge Up on: October 02, 2014, 06:33:32 AM
When DOGE is going down, people think that its a badly-designed joke meme coin that had its fun, but soon will be completely dead.

When DOGE is going up, people start thinking that it actually has a shot to eclipse Bitcoin and completely take over the financial world someday.   Roll Eyes

Personally I don't think it will completely die (you can thank Coblee for resurrecting it from the dead with LTC AuxPOW, God only knows why he bothered).  But I don't think it will get far beyond a niche group of enthusiasts either.  The same can be said for hundreds of other alts, they'll still be around too.

Some of the other alts will survive, but I don't think any of them can come close to Bitcoin.
First mover advantage is huge in the cryptocurrency space. Smiley
2233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Balls of steel on: October 02, 2014, 06:31:21 AM
I am very happy because Bitcoin didn't go under $400 as falllling "predicted"  Tongue

very soon

Someone necroed my thread. Great song and band btw.

I think the original post remains true. Balls of steel still required holders.

I am still accumulating as many coins as I can. Feel free to join me! Smiley

Holders require balls of steel.  Grin
This roller coaster will ensure that only true believers end up holding bitcoins, when all this volatility ends.
2234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is stabilizing? on: October 02, 2014, 06:28:58 AM
After the last flash crash, the price fall 19% in a month. Now, for some reason the price is stabilizing at 475-480 USD.

Would you tell this is the price we're going to keep the rest of 2014 or there will be some changes?

Still a little bit wobbly until now. Bitcoin is not yet stabilizing.

It seems to be stabilizing at $100 below last month's level now.  Grin

I guess we have to wait for some of the early companies to IPO. Smiley
2238  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the World Really Abandon the Dollar As A Reserve Currency? on: September 28, 2014, 02:14:24 AM
...A change will have to be made, the only speculation is to what.

Agreed, also the USA debt levels are way out of control. "What?" and "when?" are both unknown, but clearly huge changes are ahead.
The "Next Great Depression" has been avoided for a long time, how much longer to we have before it hits?  Shocked

The "Next Great Depression" will be a global one. Economies are interlinked to a great extent. Governments will work in tandem and try to avoid it.
2239  Economy / Services / Re: [NEW!] MoneyPot Signature Campaign - [CLOSED] Earn BTC For Just Posting! on: September 28, 2014, 02:12:46 AM
We decided that the campaign will continue! For the month of October, we will only be accepting Full Members and Senior Members. Spots are extremely limited. It will open up sometime on October the 1st.

Congratulations!!
When I saw you shift to the PocketDice campaign earlier, I had my doubts about whether the campaign will continue....
Have the payment terms been decided for the October campaign? Smiley
2240  Economy / Economics / Re: Alibaba IPO To Blame For Bitcoin Crash on: September 28, 2014, 02:06:51 AM
This is a pretty far fetched theory
Most Ali baba investors are large money manager and fin institutions that haven't exactly yet locked down btc as an investment

Possibly, wealthy investors are selling bitcoins and transferring their funds to money managers.  Grin
