Copyright Infringement Disputes? Blockchain Can Provide Solutions

Fox uses an existing Youtube video in an episode of Family Guy, then complains about copyright infringement and takes down the video.

This is just one of the many cases where large media organizations have unfairly used the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Could blockchain provide a foolproof and fair way of dealing with copyright infringement disputes?

1482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Bitcoin be surpassed by Ethereum??? on: May 22, 2016, 06:05:28 AM
Momentum =/= surpassing another currency lol.

Litecoin was a big thing, worth more than ETH is worth now, and was the biggest contender for Bitcoin's position as the main crypto 2 years ago. Now, it's valued at a small fraction of what it used to be.

Was litecoin ever valued at $1Bn?
I don't think so...

Litecoin hit 1B. Regardless if your are a Bitcoin or Ethereum supporter, there should be some agreement that Litecoin is a worthless turd from the old days.

Aah... It did hit $1Bn sometime during the 2013 Dec bull run, when everything crypto related was going through the roof.

This will be fun, as long as they don't go mental and start adding tons of coins this is good news, ETH is on the rise so why should they be losing out on all the fees Smiley

If they are adding LTC and ETH, they can go ahead and add a lot more.
Once you join the party, you can go all the way.  Smiley
1485  Economy / Speculation / Re: 420 on: May 20, 2016, 04:46:08 PM
I see remarks about merchants selling BTC.  I am only one merchant, and not a large one at that either, but I can assure you that every satang I ever earned via the company is still in BTC, and never sold any of it.

If I can afford to run the business and have to wait for BTC to do us all proud, then I'll do that.  It just means that on some sales I have to wear that risk (BTC being a minor payment method to compared to credit/debit cards at the moment), though I am of the mind that says accumulate any BTC that is over and above my need to keep my non BTC suppliers/manufacturers with bread on their respective tables.

The price drop has nothing to do with merchants selling BTC.
On a side note, you would be contributing more if you could get some of your suppliers to accept BTC. That is the way adoption increases.  Smiley
1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the next $1 Billion Blockchain? on: May 20, 2016, 04:37:48 PM
I don't see an option for none of the above. It may take a while for the next $1b blockchain. It might not even happen.

Before ethereum came about, people doubted if any cryptocurrency could be worth that much.
Ethereum proved them all wrong.  Smiley
1487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: May 20, 2016, 04:34:11 PM
Well Ether seems to be continuing to pump since yesterday.  Is this just on the basis of the OKCoin/Coinbase news?  The DAO has slowed down and likely will stay slow until the usual mad rush that occurs at the end of an ICO but right now it can't be responsible.

There has been a real bull run now. Everything can't be rationally explained.
I have learnt to just enjoy the ride while it lasts.  Smiley
1488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin go back to bellow $400? on: May 16, 2016, 09:44:54 AM
Bitcoins will go below 400$ after the Halving.

haha, you wish.
those days are over my friend. there is a good buy support in bitcoin that doesn't let the price go down. especially after the halving with all the hype and the decreased supply the price will only rise.

Sub $400 prices aren't really that far away. When whales want to create a massive amount of panic by dumping the price down, others will panic sell and cause the price to tank even further. It's easy to assume the price will go up because of the block halving, but a lot people don't keep in mind that the block halving may already be calculated in the current price for more than 75%.

I don't see any present or incoming reason why would whales sell their bitcoins. Some whales might have a personal financial problem from time to time and sell his/her bitcoins but that wouldn't affect much the price of bitcoin. Considering that most whales in bitcoins are already rich in real life, it's really unlikely that they would sell their bitcoins because of 'financial problems'.

But still you are right, if the biggest whales are somehow a group or friends and since bitcoins price is just 50$ above 400$, they can control the price of bitcoins. If and only if they have a big percentage of bitcoins in their wallets.

Whales might sell coins to profit, through a dump and pick up strategy.
Drive the price down and when everybody starts selling, pick up some cheap coins.

And so it begins......

Fortune Magazine: Leaderless, Blockchain-Based Venture Capital Fund Raises $100 Million, And Counting :

http://fortune.com/2016/05/15/leaderless-blockchain-vc-fund/

DAO getting huge attention from top business and financial magazine, this is something big that cannot be ignored.

Attention is okay, unnecessary hype is not.
The bigger the hype, the bigger will be the crash.
1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: May 16, 2016, 09:36:53 AM
there is no reason to buy etheruem, because mining them is more profitable, if you have a big farm, better to mine you can get more ethereum for half the money, but with a small rig better to buy because you cna accumulate faster, if you think a new pump is coming

Do we have any cloud mining sites which have popped up?
Looks like they could generate quick profits.
1491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My computer have just been hacked for BITCOIN ransom! on: May 15, 2016, 03:12:46 PM
Have heard that kind of hacking software before, which encrypted all files on my computer, and when my brother have been using the computer (or course carelessly), it is hacked and they demand a 1.2BTC ransom... These are just one more bad news of BTC, and even make my family members have even worse image on bitcoin... And we decided not to pay the coins to the hacker as all important files have been backed up.

Whay do you think?

You are lucky you got your important files backed up.
You will have to educate your brother about safely using a computer.
1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone buy this DAO crap? on: May 15, 2016, 11:06:48 AM
This is going to be one, if not the biggest scam in cryptoland so far!!
Unbelievable how stupid people can be!

Stupid + Greedy.
The fear of missing out on an ETH like rally is driving all the investments.
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: May 15, 2016, 11:02:33 AM
This DAO thing is a total pyramid that is going to cause all kinds of crap to go flying in cryptocurrencies when it it blows up.

Sneaky Gavin Wood is quietly leaving out the side door before someone screams FIRE and the whole CONfidence game implodes.

It might be all crypto, but ETH would be worst affected by it?
DigixDAO is down 18% in the last 24 hours.
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: 450$ Breakout on: May 15, 2016, 11:00:24 AM
A month later, the $450 break out which the OP talked about hasn't materialized.
I am not disappointed though.
Slow and steady is the way to go.
1495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Unable to break $500 on: May 13, 2016, 03:01:14 PM
It might be due to the accumulation that happened due to the expectation on halving. Not because of the Craig or some people's accumulation of huge volume. When you consider the entire user community, everyone were holding for a rise which reduces the circulation. This seems to be the reason for delay to touch $500.

I know this third time it will happen.. We've seen it happening it happening almost 2 times and again and again the bears won. Now the bulls are taking it steadily and it will rise to over 500 again.

Yes, this slow and steady increase gives much more confidence.
We will take time to get to $500, but we will get there.
1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be the next $1 Billion Blockchain? on: May 13, 2016, 02:59:20 PM
I hope Monero gets close some time in the future.  Smiley
But I suspect that the next billion $ alt will come out of nowhere, just like ETH.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Leaderless Organization Raised $50 Million (Ethereum) on: May 13, 2016, 02:57:32 PM
I would love to establish my own trustless leaderless organization.
Ladies/gentlemen, if you can assist me in this, please contact me using the pm.
Thank you.

Wouldn't everybody love to do it?
Gather some money and disappear.

1499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: May 11, 2016, 01:14:51 AM
Sunderland vs Everton, i'm sure this match will be over 2.5 goals and both teams to score. Sunderland want win this to escape from degradation, i think both teams will score on this match.

Sunderland have had a couple of low scoring matches against Arsenal and Stoke, so I wouldn't be really confident of them scoring big in this match.
1500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin leveraging stopping the rally? on: May 11, 2016, 01:08:45 AM
Leverage doesn't stop market movements, it amplifies it.
There is no harm if people with higher risk tolerance try to improve their gains through leverage.
