1261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cashing out.... on: January 28, 2017, 03:39:12 AM
BTW, the drop in price we are seeing now is just Chinese traders selling some of BTC to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Price is not falling, there is no conspiracy behind this minor decline. After day or two we should see upward trend coming back.

Or there could be high frequency traders that can't trade anymore because of the fees, so they are cashing out.

The market seems to have shrugged off the news about fees on Chinese exchanges, like water off a duck's back.
Price has actually increased (albeit not much) post the news.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 28, 2017, 03:35:30 AM
I think that Arsenal have a solid chance to win this clash because Southampton have already played in EFL Cup and they may be focusing on the final of that competition so they wouldn't be fully motivated to win also they have a good amount of players whom will be misding whileArsenal have good situation with the squad so they will probably looking for a win.

Both teams will be missing players - Southampton  will be without Virgil van Dijk, Prowse and Rodriguez. Arsenal will miss Granit Xhaka, who got a red card against Burnley. Arsenal have had a good streak in the FA cup recently, but I think it might be broken now.
1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Expanse soon to release a bonds market on: January 28, 2017, 03:25:04 AM
So this bonds system looks like an interesting development in the crypto space. When released (sometime before the 1st) you can buy a bond for 100 EXP and earn 1% interest per month. Seems as if its functioning as a simulated proof of stake, as you are 'staking' your coins in a smart contract, and the interest is being paid out from the 10 million in reserve.

I am curious about this. What could be the reason for people not to covert their EXP into bonds? That way they would earn interest on their holdings as well as benefit from price movements in EXP. Aren't the bonds freely transferable?
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PASA] PascalCoin Account price speculation on: January 28, 2017, 03:14:05 AM
It is amazing what listing on a major exchange like Poloniex can do to an alt's price. The listing is something which would definitely qualify as Material Non Public Information. I am sure there must have been some insider trading which went on. Unfortunately, everything is legal in the crypto-space.
1265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: January 26, 2017, 04:21:22 PM
It is a rapid rise, but the price has been in this range for a long time.
$15 is not huge in the larger scheme of things.
Not so long ago, we had increases of $100 in a day's time.
1266  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Joinmarket - Coinjoin that people will actually use on: January 26, 2017, 04:12:59 PM
Is Broken Pipe error common while running Joinmarket?

Code:
error: [Errno 32] Broken pipe

I get it a lot, but it doesn't seem to have any impact on the actual functioning of the program.
1267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Accounting question on: January 26, 2017, 04:09:03 PM
Thank you for your reply!  Yes, I have to use fiat (EUR) as my base currency for now.  The two-step transaction makes a lot of sense.  How would you determine the exchange rate?  I guess the BTC-Euro rate at the time of the exchange to alt?  Or at least a best estimate if I miss the order going through.

Yes, the BTC-Euro rate (from any exchange) would have to be used. If you miss the time of the order going through, an estimate would be sufficient.
If you know the time of the transaction, there are exchanges which give you detailed minute by minute graphs of historical bitcoin prices. Of course, if you aren't finicky, you don't need those.
1268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin up 25% today! on: January 26, 2017, 04:06:04 PM
LTC is an interesting one. I don't own any, nor am I planning on acquiring any, but it wouldn't surprise me if it just randomly took off one day.

There is no real reason for it to take off. It used to more or less mirror Bitcoin previously, but has lost most of its value in the last 6 months. If it does take off, you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be a pump and dump.  Smiley
1269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 26, 2017, 03:36:45 PM
Hull City Vs Manchester United

Hull City are 2-0 down after losing the first leg and they will need to attack strongly to have a chance of reaching the League Cup final. United will fare better against teams that come out attack as Hull's defense will be exposed to United's counterattack. Furthermore, United has won 12 of 13 games against Hull in all competitions. My bet is United -1 as there is a good chance United will win big.

It will be tough for Hull City to overcome this deficit. They will miss Ryan Mason, who fractured his skull. Manchester United have an excellent record at Kcom stadium, never having lost a match there.
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGE] Will history repeat again? MOON on: January 25, 2017, 01:24:42 AM
I lived the golden age of Dogecoin and believed it was goin to be the 2nd best forever, but then the coin went down a lot..

Yes, it has been on a steady decline. When it dropped to almost 20 sat earlier this month, there was a rebound to almost 28 sat. But then, the downward spiral has again started.

1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to Invest 1 bitcoin on: January 24, 2017, 05:17:42 PM
if i had 1 bitcoin and i was new to trading, i would hold on to that 1 bitcoin and start learning trading without money first. then i would invest 0.01BTC at least and start testing what i have learned and then increase it to 1 bitcoin little by little when i gained some confidence.
if you invest 1 bitcoin right now you will be burning it so fast.
but after a while you will know how to make it double in a short time.

You are assuming that the OP has only 1 bitcoin and he wants to invest it fully. The OP probably has tens of bitcoins and wants to invest just 1 BTC in al alt coin. So there is no issue if he takes higher risk.
1273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Accounting question on: January 24, 2017, 05:15:24 PM
You need to decide on a functional currency - Is it going to be fiat or bitcoin? Going by your description, I think it will be fiat.
If that is the case, think of buying alts with bitcoins as a 2 step transaction. You sell bitcoins for fiat and then use this fiat to buy alts.
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looking to Invest 1 bitcoin on: January 24, 2017, 01:58:56 AM
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to all of this and I need some opinions. I realize nobody can predict the future......hear all, trust nothing. If you guys had 1 bitcoin to invest in an alt coin. What would you choose and why?

I'm not afraid of risk.

I was reading about Byteball and it seems interesting. I'm not expert and most of this stuff is over my head.

I would go for zCash as it has the potential. It has been on a steady downward trend for some time now and the price looks attractive. You will get 20-21 zCash for 1 Bitcoin and you can sit on it for a year. It might go up multiple times in that period.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 24, 2017, 01:56:35 AM
You have Brighton vs Cardiff tomorrow. Brighton will be favourites in this match, but expect tough competition from Cardiff.
If you look at history, recent league matches in Brighton between these 2 teams have ended in draws (five out of the last six).
Brighton will look for a win to take them to the top of the Championship table tomorrow.
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has anybody used Tether? on: January 24, 2017, 01:46:13 AM
If you have fiat and wish to convert it to crypto, you can buy tether.
It's good because it's price hardly ever changes - always at $1, so you do not have to worry about your coin losing price value and things like that.

If that is the only reason, why not just hold fiat - your money doesn't lose value at all in the traditional sense.
Its only use is to exchanges - they can say that they don't deal in USD, while offering you all the advantages of USD (by dealing in tether).
1277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Legal side of altcoin/ ico/ crowdsale? on: January 23, 2017, 01:47:15 PM
Hello guys,

I am working on one new crowd sale project and I am concern regarding legal parts of ICO projects.

I have found couple of cases where USA institution is going after ICO projects.

https://www.sec.gov/News/PressRelease/Detail/PressRelease/1370541972520
https://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/2014/33-9592.pdf

What's your opinion on that, guys?

There have been multiple ICOs which have been conducted till now. There are diverse views on the legal aspects, and whether existing securities regulations apply to ICOs. You can find a summary here

1278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: z cash future price on: January 23, 2017, 01:40:11 PM
For anyone interested in Zcash market analysis and price speculation, there is detailed Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/zcashgpumining/posts/1627572630871747
Just to be clear, IMO author is overly optimistic over Zcash, and I don't take his word for granted. He probably believes that Zcash may dethrone Bitcoin someday:

Quote from: GPU Mining
Zcash is by far the most promising participant in the digital assets market.
And with their highly experienced team and tremendous backing we are certain Zcash will become the strongest cryptocurrency.

The author is overly optimistic, but the mad frenzy that surrounded zCash when it was released has died down.
We are seeing the market capitalization of zCash increasing with increasing supply, while the market price of each coin has been steady with a slight downward bias.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: January 23, 2017, 01:32:59 PM
Look like Chelsea will win the Champ this year, with 8 points lead now.

What a close season, with just 6 points differences between 2nd to 6th.
Really hope Man Utd continue their unbeaten run and qualified to Champions League this year.

Btw...Liverpool vs Chelsea in next round, can Liverpool stop Chelsea and make the Champ race more exciting?

Liverpool vs Chelsea will be interesting. It is a week away. If Chelsea can get full points from this game, they will stretch their lead and it will be difficult for Arsenal / Tottenham to catch up. A Liverpool win will make things exciting.  Smiley
1280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: z cash future price on: January 23, 2017, 01:43:02 AM
is there a any chance z cash can cheaper than today price within 2 month due to volume increase
maybe, i think zec will touch price 0.039
and that when i bought :-)

When did you buy it? I don't think it went below 0.04 BTC before.
It has been on a steady downward trend and I think it might break 0.04 BTC in a month's time.
