1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEM: What is it, and why is it skyrocketing? on: June 28, 2016, 03:30:55 PM
ELI5?
NEM (XEM) $0.012323 (+65.37% Shocked). http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nem/

The 24 hour change now reads at +96.5%
If something seems too good to be true, it probably isn't.  Tongue
1422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the deal with the sudden ETH drop? on: June 28, 2016, 03:29:24 PM
so for you 0.002 drop is "dropping rapidly" lol, isn't it just 10%, to me it look like a market activity, it is dumping after buying cheap when the dao made the price crash to a very low level, i don't remember if it was 0.0014 or lower

An 8% drop does look out of place when Bitcoin has moved in the opposite direction (+2%).
More than profit booking, I think the drop has something to do with the softfork being debated.
1423  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: June 28, 2016, 03:24:11 PM
I agree with most of you and I think Italy could be a really good candidate to reach the final. If they win versus Germany we can see another France - Italy final like many before.

Italy managed to toy with Spain. Spain didn't look like a champion side.
It will be tough to repeat this against Germany, but I do expect Italy to go through to the finals.
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No ICO no premine ethereum clone. on: June 28, 2016, 03:22:10 PM
Hello, I'm a programmer. I saw the source code of ethereum and it is so easy to clone. I want to clone it. Zero premine. No ICO. Purely mining. Would anybody be interested to mine it? I can do this for fun.

This has been a risk from Day 1 and was highlighted in the Ethereum ICO as well.

1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the deal with the sudden ETH drop? on: June 28, 2016, 03:18:36 PM
And lots of alt coins drops when btc rises. I wonder where eth will be in a few weeks...

We know that this is not the case with ETH. Both BTC and ETH had a bull run some time back.
Plus bitcoin isn't rising rapidly now.
1426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: June 26, 2016, 05:52:35 AM
Portugal did not deserve to go on..simply as that

In my opinion Croatia played better than Portugal on this match and the previous, but on football luck is important, and Portugal had luck on lats minute and scored.

When there is a goal so late in the match, Croatia is bound to be disappointed.
The match was quite boring for most part.
I guess Portugal just got lucky.
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Brexit and altcoins on: June 26, 2016, 05:47:03 AM
Brexit might impact the majors like Bitcoin and Ether, nothing more.
There is some kind of shadow benefit that alts derive, as most of them are quoted in satoshis.
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hatred in Crypto on: June 26, 2016, 05:39:14 AM
It is more or less a zero-sum game.
One cryptocurrency gains at the expense of any other.
That is why you have this win at all costs mentality
1429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: June 25, 2016, 06:00:20 AM
Here we go, Euro 2016 is continue again today.
First match, Switzerland vs Poland. The odds for both teams is really good though, but i prefer pick Poland for this match.
I prefer Switzerland , what if we bet? Smiley

Poland have done extremely well in Euro 2016. Switzerland have only 1 of their last 10 encounters with Poland. I think Poland will have the edge in this match.
1430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding Ethereum by Coindesk - $500 on: June 25, 2016, 05:56:08 AM
When somebody tries to sell ebooks for $500, it is bound to be pirated.
The key is to keep the price low and obtain volumes. I am sure this would have worked in this case as well.
1431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IDEAL: no ICOs, no proof-of-work, no proof-of-stake, no governance, and no forks on: June 25, 2016, 05:48:45 AM
The best initial distribution of an alt is to take the snapshot of bitcoin blockchain at a particular point of time and enable holders of these bitcoins to receive this altcoins, in proportion to their bitcoin holdings.
No ICO is good, but what is the initial distribution proposed?
1432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: June 22, 2016, 04:14:35 PM
Hungary will probably park the bus tonight and hope for a draw, Portugal in other hand needs a win, I guess Under wouldn't be a bad bet, I don't want to fall into another trap by betting Portugal, even though odds for their win are not very high anyway
Same thing happen to me last time I bet on Portugal to score but nothing.
They fell flat. Not expecting them to do anything tonight either sorry to say but it is true. With Ronaldo going on a tear in the match or not.

I would actually pick Hungary in this win. Portugal desperately need to win, and this desperation might actually help Hungary.
It is sad about Ronaldo going out in this fashion, but that is life.
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chesscoin ICO .... Stay away! on: June 22, 2016, 04:12:16 PM
maybe have site that welcomes bots? Make it for the programmers and let them compete vs eachother. (maybe get lots of stailmates and just take rake)

Stalemates are not the result when computers play against each other. The stronger engine usually wins.
In any case, bitcoin can be used to fuel any platform. You don't need an alt.
I suspect it will turn out just the way  letsplayagame predicted.
1434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People re buying Eth and Dao.. on: June 22, 2016, 04:07:52 PM
Why do people like to be tortured so much... it's pretty odd.

Have you ever heard about dead cat bounce ?

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/deadcatbounce.asp

This dead cat bounce seems to be sucking money out of Bitcoin.
Ether is up substantially while Bitcoin is down a few percentage points.
1435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The failure of Ethereum is complete - it is now a mere permissioned spreadsheet. on: June 22, 2016, 04:05:56 PM
3. Arbitrary hardforks to protect profits:

Forgive me, but has the fork in this instance been confirmed?
I thought it was just one of the options being bandied about.

1437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if ETH survives? on: June 18, 2016, 09:45:30 AM
It dropped to low 13's and is now risen back up to $15.28, I don't think we should expect an ether dump.

It is now further dropping again and is now at 13's.
Was it dead cat bounces that we witnessed earlier in the day?
It does look pretty bad for ether.
1438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Conclusions after Eth fiasco on: June 17, 2016, 03:25:41 PM
It's dead that is what..

No one is going to trust it now that it's been hacked that bad !

People will still make a distinction between DAO and ETH, won't they?
Ether seems to have already recovered quite a bit.
1439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Conclusions after Eth fiasco on: June 17, 2016, 03:11:37 PM
Broad diversification is key to success in investing.
Saving money in 2 coins or stocks can wipe half of your capital if one of the two goes south.
Put your dough in 5-10 coins, if one of them collapses you only lose 10-20% of your capital and can quick recover your losses. Read what professional investors do, they recommend investments spread over 10-20 ventures. Above 20 is difficult to keep track of. But 5 is a bare minimum, everyone can keep track of 5 coins and be insured against large unexpected hits.

In crypto broad diversification is picking coins with original code that are not Bitcoin clones. You diversify the software and the devs, programming languages.

To add to that, I would say that the majority of your portfolio should be in bitcoin. Alts can be used to give you that extra profit, but you shouldn't bet your house on alts.
1440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did DAO post its own downfall 4 days ago? on: June 17, 2016, 03:09:01 PM
It's been a known problem publically since June 9th. If I can find the link I'll edit this post.

Additionally (I could be wrong on this) the DAO requires two weeks of voting to correct such flaws.

Two weeks is a recipe for disaster.
It will give somebody trying to exploit flaws enough time to prepare and execute his plans flawlessly.
