2221  Other / Meta / Re: REEE: [NSFW] - phisical violence in DT - "not safe for work" content on: September 13, 2019, 06:36:36 AM
Is there a chance we could reduce all these inter-member bitching threads. I actually gave Tecshare some merits for a few "real world" posts in some other threads. I thought that his comments were constructive and useful, and hopefully he will switch to such posts as Bitcoin moves higher in value. All these bitching threads must be putting off some potential new members of Bitcoin Talk, and that can't be good for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is maturing into a really useful wealth preservation asset, hopefully Bitcoin Talk can mature with it.
2222  Other / Politics & Society / Re: John Bolton fired by President Trump - BREAKING on: September 11, 2019, 02:30:55 PM
There are a few people looking for jobs at the moment. Theresa May, and Bercow for example. Angela Merkel could help him with immigration. Juan Guaidó  could help him to take control of countries with un-American politics.
2223  Other / Politics & Society / Re: world Strongest leader? on: September 11, 2019, 08:51:14 AM
All of those "leaders" are subject to control and influence by the real world elite. The strongest are in the ruling dynasties of the Rothschilds, The Vatican, and the British Crown.
2224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is a non-correlated asset on: September 11, 2019, 08:46:57 AM
One of the greatest advantages of Bitcoin is that it is a non-correlated asset. This means that price movements are not related to an underlying share or currency value. I believe that all investment portfolios should contain non-correlated assets to preserve wealth in times of economic uncertainty.
2225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What are Merits to you? on: September 11, 2019, 07:20:47 AM
If you spell "merits" backwards you get " Stir 'em", and the merits system appeared to turn into a system to stir up posters. However, recently it seems to have been replaced by the trust system. Smiley
2226  Other / Meta / Re: Topics that should be discussed on "Off-topic" board. on: September 10, 2019, 01:58:48 PM
I started the Jet Cash coffee lounge thread in the ivory tower for senior members to discuss a whole range of topics. It gets sporadic interest, but a couple of the discussions were interesting. I hoped it would be similar to the range of discussions that one used to get in cafe society in the 60s, but I guess that is long gone now that we are in the mobile text era.
2227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Again a topic about wallet sync on: September 10, 2019, 07:21:06 AM
I can keep my node synchronised over public WiFi without much difficulty. That's on a Windows 10 machine with an HDD. As others have said, it is much faster if I use a Linux machine with an SSD. I can handle the current situation, and I appreciate the extra security that comes from it. I may well switch to keeping a pruned node in the future though.
2228  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can Trump liberate Hong Kong from China?. on: September 10, 2019, 06:42:22 AM
I think Trump should liberate the US from Washington (its masters), and stop interfering in the affairs of other countries.
2229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I buy BTC as 14 years old with PP/CC on: September 10, 2019, 06:00:27 AM
Aren't there prepayment cards that can be used to make payments via the credit card networks. Whilst not strictly credit cards, I understand that they can be used to start to rebuild a bad credit history.
2230  Other / Meta / Re: Topics that should be discussed on "Off-topic" board. on: September 10, 2019, 05:41:10 AM
I think a social interaction "room" is a useful addition to any large and busy forum. It helps to build relationships, and reading non-Bitcoin related posts is a useful way to assess the character of members in my opinion, Post analysis is more useful to me than the current trust system, if one is trying gauge the honesty and responsibility of a member. Topics such as favourite music, and breakfast preferences are standard fillers to build post counts, and can be ignored fairly easily.

I have started a few posts there, and I am considering one related to a vintage rotavator that I am considering restoring. I may sell this, and I would like to receive Bitcoin for it. I would like to see if there is any interest amongst crypto users for such equipment, and, if so, which coins they would use. I believe that it is also useful to indicate that Bitcoin has a general appeal, and is not just a financial tool for bankers and computer geeks.
2231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Relation To Bitcoin Cash on: September 09, 2019, 07:34:32 AM
As they used to say, Bitcoin Cash was born on the wrong side of the bed sheets, so it will never inherit the family castle.
2232  Other / Off-topic / Re: forum administrator, look like fucking hitler. on: September 09, 2019, 07:30:56 AM

I think you don't know what Hitler did.  Sad

Maybe he thinks Hitler was an anti-spamite.
2233  Other / Meta / Re: My musings about the trust network on: September 09, 2019, 07:26:50 AM
>..<

I gave you a couple of merits because I agree with the general concept in your post. The example of anti-vaxers is relevant. In my opinion, people who promotes forced vaccination are untrustworthy, their opinion indicates that they are not capable of researching such an important topic that affects the welfare of their children, and they just accept the controlled and biased media reports. Because of this , I would treat their judgements with suspicion. They may well be honest ( but misguided ) people, and could be trusted in a trade.

Obviously this is a subjective opinion, and is based on my general observation of society, and I think it indicates the difficulty that arises from having a dual function trust system.
2234  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BTCDir - Bitcoin Directory on: September 09, 2019, 07:06:47 AM
I like the new layout. It's much cleaner and more businesslike in my opinion. I wish more sites were like this, instead of the flashy hyper-active creations that seem to be popular in this facebook era.
2235  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: The Jet Cash coffee lounge thread. on: September 08, 2019, 10:31:20 AM
The opinionated junior manager that I don't like at McDonald's is off work with chicken pox. He has all his vaccinations to weaken his immune system, so of course he is vulnerable to all these new strains of the old infections. It goes to show that you are much better off if you work with nature, rather than trying to fight it.
2236  Other / Meta / Re: [NSFW] - phisical violence in DT - "not safe for work" content on: September 08, 2019, 09:00:39 AM
I used to think that DT stood for "dementia tremens" until I joined Bitcoin Talk. I'm starting to think that the original meaning was apposite. Smiley
2237  Other / Politics & Society / Re: President Trump signs the 9/11 first responders bill on: September 08, 2019, 08:53:38 AM
One result of the the 9/11 disaster is the law that bans the use of gas cutting torches by the emergency services. It resulted in the development of an oxygen fed petrol cutting torch, and I have seen these in action. They are fantastic, and generate massive heat for the cutting, but keep the metal cool when it is only a few inches away from the flame.
2238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I made a big Mistake on: September 08, 2019, 08:23:08 AM
I think that all people who are serious about Bitcoin should run a full node for a while. It helps you to understand the Bitcoin system, and you have control of your coins. Were I in your position, I would purchase an external drive of at least one or two terrabytes, and copy your current blockchain onto it - this is if you don't want to start the download again. Thus is fairly easy, and you can find the old directory by searching for the directory containing the blocks. Of course it would be easier to start again if you don't mind the download time.

Once you have downloaded the blockchain, you can create a pruned directory, and then move that onto your main computer. Then you can keep the external HDD to backup your wallet and the blockchain in the future. There are several guide threads here on Bitcoin Talk that will help you to move your directories ( you need to copy more than just the blockchain ), and many members who are more experienced and knowledgeable than I am about such actions.
2239  Other / Serious discussion / Re: List of people to blame for the extinction of humanity. on: September 08, 2019, 07:56:47 AM
You first list just includes a few of the people who have sold America into slavery, you haven't included the slave masters. They don't want to destroy humanity, just 80% of it. They are working well with toxic vaccinations, opiate abuse, poisoned food, gender blurring, and don't forget the simple method of creating wars to just kill people with fancy weapons.

If you really want to change things, you have to take the power away from the Anglophone empire, and reduce their wealth. One way to do this is to find out about ways that keep you healthy, and avoid damaging your immune system. Give up those fizzy drinks, McDonalds, smoking and vaping, and eating processed meats for a start. Stop believing the manipulative " news" in the mass media as well. Try to avoid the wealth creating pills and snake oil created by the big Pharma companies.

You are constantly being advised to do your own "due diligence" before speculating in Bitcoin and Alts. Putting food and drugs into your mouth is a far greater risk, but very few people do any "due diligence" to research the often toxic products they eat.
2240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is a safe haven on: September 08, 2019, 07:22:11 AM
Is Bitcoin a safe haven? It certainly has all the characteristics. What one needs to realise is that the harbour masters manipulate the news to ensure that their friends get the best berths. A safe haven is a place to lay up, and gain some protection from extremes of weather. This doesn't mean that you won't be subject to rain and high winds. Protection from political storms are no exception either. Only a fool leaves the protection of a safe haven during the storms, you just ride out the wind and rain, and wait for the sunshine.

Of course the really smart havener will be out searching the beaches, and collecting the bounty that washes up from the shipwrecks that result from rejecting the safe havens. For "havener" please read "HODLer". Smiley
