1381  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's Topic Details: highlight deleted and edited posts (forum wide) on: July 30, 2020, 07:43:56 AM
There are two types of edit. One is a change to the text because the poster made a typo, or posted the wrong info. The other edit is an addition to a post, and this is something I do. Your post may be the last in a thread, and you may want to add additional information without creating a series of posts by a single member. It would be interesting to be able to find these posts. Maybe we could tag them to make them easier to list. Tags such as [UPDATE] or [ADDITION] could be used.

Another advantage of this is that such threads would not be bumped, but an alert would allow interested readers to find them.

I'm waiting for someone to discover a covid infected Bitcoin.

Save the whales! Smiley

We need more of them to make Bitcoin more valuable ( but not until I have picked up a bit more Bitcoin ).

One good method is to add your site to your signature, and make productive posts to contribute to the forum. You can increase your thread views by using descriptive narrative, rather than trying to turn your post into a web page that people will skip.  I didn't read the bulk of your post for example.
1385  Other / Politics & Society / Lockdown restrictions increased to reduce the spread of immunity. on: July 30, 2020, 07:07:59 AM
The UK has announced an increase in the lockdown restrictions. This is obviously intended to reduce the spread of immunity, and this follows billions of pounds of taxpayers money being given to the Pharma companies for vaccines. Several reports have stated that vaccines that are getting close to natural immunity are possible, but these seem to be based on synthetic viruses. Why not just go for the free immunity that nature gives us. I understand that it has become difficult to test covid products as so many people have natural immunity, and there aren't many people who are infected at the moment. They are getting round this by requiring self isolation for people with symptoms rather than the virus infection. The number of associated symptoms are being increased as well.

It all seems like a government panic as people are starting to realise that covid-19 is not the problem that they pretended it was/is.
1386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is bitcoin a currency or but also a money on: July 29, 2020, 04:34:49 PM
When considering payments, there are three classes. currency, money and mediums of exchange. Some things can be in all 3 classes, and some are in just one.

Currency is the legal tender of a country, and it may have no monetary value.

Money is an item of value that is generally accepted as a medium of exchange.

A medium of exchange is any item the two people agree to accept in settlement of a debt.

So a medium of exchange can be a cow, but that would not be money or currency today. Although I believe some African countries used cows as money in the past.

A nation's fiat currency is both a currency and a medium of exchange, but I would argue that it is not money, as it has no intrinsic value.

A gold Britannia is money, currency and a medium of exchange. It is legal tender in the UK, and it has a face value of £100, but it is 1 ounce of pure gold, so it has an intrinsic monetary value that is much higher. Obviously it can ( and is ) used as a medium of exchange.
1387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Don't buy facemasks for the coronavirus! on: July 29, 2020, 04:03:32 PM
In fact it is probably more than 50%. I understand that the memory "T" cells that many of us created in the 2002/3 SARS epidemic give us protection from this virus. This could explain why so few people are having problems with the virus, despite its agility in spreading.
1388  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long can the gov keep up the economic lie: downplaying the pandemic? on: July 29, 2020, 03:54:26 PM
Come on - they aren't downplaying it. They are ramping up a fairly minor Corona virus to distract people from an economic reset.

Deaths are down, and they were never really high - just check the all causes mortality totals.

The vaccine they create will be designed to damage your immune system, and not to protect you from the virus.

Corona viruses will be around for a few more decades, and the sensible amongst us will have developed natural immunity. In fact many of us developed the memory T cells back in 2002/3.

There will be a "K" shaped recovery - the rich will get richer, and the poor will get poorer.
1389  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Lockdown easing - I'm back in the cafe on: July 29, 2020, 03:44:42 PM
I like mouldy cheese, and I know how to spell "mouldy"

Mature Stilton is great. It's a long time since I poured port into a round though.

I'm back in Asda for an experiment. That is another cafe with restricted WiFi, and no power sockets. Things are starting to open up slowly.

I've got a new theory about the virus as well. I believe it is a military creation, but it slipped out by accident. It isn't very serious, and it is very contagious. That is bad for the vaxers, as it spreads immunity, and then people don't need vaccinations. This seems to have created a panic in the Pharma world, but all those untested useless vaccines will probably do them more harm than good.

I've just topped up your merit so that you can post in serious discussion. Smiley
1391  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Covid will take your money on: July 29, 2020, 02:25:16 PM
I still use cash, and I am aware of the publicity given to its ability to spread infection. I think this is a positive benefit, as it is helping people to build immunity. The worst thing you can do is to deprive your immune system of exercise - that causes it to become bored, and it starts to create allergies. The UK is switching to washable bank notes, and I sometimes wonder if they are aware of the impact clean bank notes have on the maintenance of a healthy immune system.

In England cash consists of three categories - low value coins, bank notes, and gold and silver coins, and all are legal tender. Gold coins are an important part of tax free wealth protection, and the reduction of inheritance tax, so I can't see the government being allowed to withdraw them. Everyday cash is an important tool for micro businesses and peer to peer dales, and I know the government is keen to tax this, but it may not be practical. They are starting to allow people on low incomes to make a general declaration, and not have to submit tax returns. Obviously this reduces the work load on the revenue department.
1392  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Smoked fillet of cod glowing like a night light. on: July 29, 2020, 02:02:03 PM
I hoped to take a photo last night, but I could only see a few weal streaky of blue, so obviously I didn't dream it. I moved out into the country into an area with no lighting, and added some heavy curtains to the windows. This increased the blue a little bit, but not enough to make it worth taking a photo. The next stage is to put a description on a web page, and write to the supermarket.

I need to decide on a domain name for it, and for nostalgic reasons, I might revive my old Oil Drum site. We used to sit around a burning oil drum and discuss how to change the world whilst we were waiting for a field auction to start.
1393  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Things are looking good on: July 28, 2020, 08:04:40 PM
Well here in England immunity is spreading at an increased rate, and all cases deaths are at a 5 year low, and ICU admissions are down. The government is panicking, as it looks as if the money they are spending to develop useless vaccines is being perceived by some as wasted. No doubt they will introduce stricter restrictions to enable them to impose social tracking, and forced vaccinations on us.

I gather more people are dying from cholera in the Yemen, than the world total of real deaths from the virus. Sorting out the cholera problem would cost a lot less than the money they are binning in a quest for a vaccine.

It could well be 2016. It was taken at a friend's vintage fair, and the last one was 3 years ago. In fact he is now a vegetable in a care home, and that is one of the reasons I don;t have the popular view of the British Health service and care homes.

The engine you posted is certainly a Marshall, but it isn't the Empress I'm afraid, and I don't recognise the guys driving it.
1395  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Things are looking good on: July 28, 2020, 01:31:25 PM
Stop destroying small businesses
End fractional reserve banking
Raise interest rate.
Cut the pharmaceuticals bill by 90%
Reclaim national assets that were transferred to the dynasties.
Use natural resources for the benefit of the people and the country

I've got a lot more to add to the list such as cutting government over manning and profluigate spending.

Who cares anyway - I've got enough green cheese in my fridge as it is.

I found this picture of me at a vintage fair. The beard comes and goes, and I get the odd haircut. Smiley

Sending men to the moon is so last century.

Elon Musk is going to save energy by bringing the moon to the earth. I think he is just trying to raise money for an abstract project.

The Chinese are going to build a bridge so that they can mine the minerals there.

Boris Johnson wants to put a face mask on the man in the moon in case he has the covid virus, but Bill Gates is going to vaccinate him so that he has to buy pharmaceuticals.

Ban Ki-moon is going to host a climate change summit so that Jack can build a beanstalk as a natural way to get to the moon.

Jet Cash is going to cut down on coffee and eating blue ray cod - some say it affects the brain.
1399  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Smoked fillet of cod glowing like a night light. on: July 28, 2020, 10:58:38 AM
I've got a pretty strong digestive system, and I've only been poisoned twice in my life. Once by a hamburger from Burger King, and once by a crab sandwich in the City of London when I was working for the stock exchange. I've got a nice piece of steak, so I'm going to cook that as an alternative. I'm really interested in the blue light though, and I want to find out more about it.
1400  Other / Serious discussion / Smoked fillet of cod glowing like a night light. on: July 28, 2020, 09:24:01 AM
Yesterday I bought a piece of smoked cod fillet. I didn't feel hungry, so I thought I would save it for today, and I placed it on top of the cooler. I forgot to put it inside, and went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I noticed a blue light - it was the cod, and the whole piece was emitting the light. I have never seen this before, and I checked on Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioluminescence

I notice this phrase - "Aposematism is a widely used function of bioluminescence, providing a warning that the creature concerned is unpalatable."
I don't think I am going to eat it, and I will take a photo tonight and ask the supermarket to comment. My scientific knowledge is a bit limited and focused, so I would be interested in some comments from the more learned members here.
