2241  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Courier Network (For real) on: April 19, 2011, 12:40:56 AM
It would behoove the service's operators to have a few pilots ready to take control of bots that find themselves unable to negotiate a given circumstance.

Latest News: Drug carrying drone crashes into Brooklyn Bridge, spreading $1.5millionUSD of Cocaine on the road. Several motorists were seen to stop their vehicles and began snuffing the white powder before being taken by the previaling wind(the poweder) and later the police(the motorists). The developer of the drone believes that it was the use of a float instead of a precision decimal that caused the crash.
2242  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New Bitcoin Trading Exchange available on the i2p Network on: April 19, 2011, 12:37:15 AM
On closer inspection, these are loafers. In other words, I hand't read the op's explantion correctly, that it doesn't actually trade in real USD.

OP mentions he's looking for an anonymous exchange, well look no further.

http://whiterockcottage.com/open/index.php?q=article/anonymous-money-needs-anonymous-exchange

It's something we need, and all it takes is someone willing to give it a go.
2243  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New Bitcoin Trading Exchange available on the i2p Network on: April 18, 2011, 11:51:47 PM
I'll be all over this if you can trade USD to other accounts.

I don't know how you'd go about doing this but yeah, I second Atlases sentiment.
2244  Other / Off-topic / Re: Atlas Shrugged Part 1 Opens Today on: April 18, 2011, 10:47:53 PM
The book was ok, as a story meh. The characters in the book are too 1dimensional. All the men that Ms. Taggart admires are all copies of each other. All the bad people are the same etc.

However, this wasn't meant to be a great novel, but Rands Magnum Opus for her philosophy.

There should be someone along here any minute to tell you  about a turd finally dropping from the ass.

With regards Rand herself, from what I've read she was so uncompromising that by the end of her life she had almost no friends. She stuck to her philosophy but it cost her.
2245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Share, Future, Bond contract text on: April 18, 2011, 02:57:24 PM
For the stock exchange we need to have a typical contract to use for each certificate. Of course there will be plenty of non-standard ones but we needs something to start off with, and the examples below need to be filled out.

Any additions or removals or changes are welcome.

Share Certificate
Terms
The organisation that this share is for is X company

It defines that the holder/owner of this certificate owns one share of X company.

This entitles the owner to one vote per share in any resolutions that require shareholder passing, such that a majority of 51% of all shares or more is required to pass a resolution.

This entitles the share owner to a dividend, a payment of a portion of X company's profits, divided equally among all shares, paid at the end of each quarter.

All profits earned by X company will be paid to shareholders as dividends.
And that each quarter the companies accounts must be signed off by an outside accountant, that has the approval of the shareholders.
Signed, X company CEO Mr Blah.
Signed, X company Secretary Mr Blo.
Signed, X company Treasurer, Mr Doe.

Future Contract

The organisation that this contract is for is X person.

It defines that the owner/ holder of this contract shall receive X amount(1 kg, 1 bushel etc.) of X goods/commodities/processed materials on X date, not including cost of delivery.

Signed Mr X, producer of X goods.

Bond
The organisation that this contract is for is X corp.

It defines that the holder of this bond will receive X amount of bitcoins by X date, deposited to their account on the stock market.

Signed X corp CEO.

Also a question, who was able to withdraw more out of the system than normal and how?

I know the bitcoin wallet balance was 4BTC when I made the system available, now there is something like 3.2, it should still be 4btc (unless I had a practive order there that I'd forgotten about).

I'll be checking the records (all transactions have been well recorded.) to find out just what happended but it would make debugging easier.

Thanks to everyone for trying it out, and thanks for pointing out any bugs.
2247  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitDNS Bounty (3500 BTC) on: April 18, 2011, 01:49:00 PM
Announced doesn't mean working, he's trying to get it started, which is fine but there are still some problems with it.

Once we have a working prototype then great, once all (most) parties are satisfied then go for it.
2248  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Stock Exchange ready for testing([now with more twitter]. on: April 18, 2011, 01:34:01 PM
Bringing the server down to fix some issues that have been brought up, thanks for testing, this is exactly what we needed.
It will be back up again in less than 24 hours and with more features/bug fixes.
2249  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Stock Exchange ready for testing([now with more twitter]. on: April 18, 2011, 04:41:38 AM
Fixed that, give it a try again.

Although it's good that you've gotten to that point, it means that the client installed without any problems.

The error was caused by a line not being commented out (I had already fixed this, popped up again for some reason).
2250  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Stock Exchange ready for testing([now with more twitter]. on: April 18, 2011, 03:35:53 AM
We have twitter!
All market orders and trades are posted to @bitcoinglobal

Format is this
order:quantity:price:asset_id:timestamp

orders can be buy,sell,trade or cancel
quantity is an intiger
price is also an integer, its the int64 representation of bitcoin, so 1btc will be 100000000 0.1btc is 10000000 and so on.
asset_id is a SHA256 string
timestamp is a unix time format integer

So any buy or sell orders you make will be available, along with their asset_id's

I've updated user_id's and asset_id's to use sha256 as sha512 was too long for twitter (and kinda too long anyway).

I would recommend everyone who has already started to re-run the register command and re-register, and to use git to get the latest commits, there have been some changes in the client.

And another good piece of news, it works on windows!!!
Easy to use instructions are available here

2251  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: UK exchange: Britcoin on: April 17, 2011, 01:16:11 PM
Britcoin is good until you try using it.  It is SO much easer to use mtgox than Britcoin.
Maybe that is just the lack of features, but the general interface (being stuck in the corner of the screen) is annoying to use.

I say take a hint from mtgox:P

Well the source is there, go ahead and use it.

2253  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Towards a standard Bitcoin server installation on: April 17, 2011, 01:14:23 PM
I think some kind of simple double entry accounting system/package would be nice.
2254  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Stock Exchange ready for testing. on: April 17, 2011, 07:18:09 AM
Forgot to actually commit that fix (for register) sorry about that.
2255  Economy / Economics / Re: First Nation to keep Bitcoin as Official Reserves on: April 17, 2011, 04:24:03 AM
Somalia, since they don't actually have a government(well they do, but it's more a city council than a government).

and they have "some of the best telecommunications in Africa" according to wikipedia.  In a few years we'll be throwing away our android phones, and they'll be able to use them for bitcoin business.   Grin

Best telecommunications? Really? Is that a joke?
2256  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Stock Exchange ready for testing. on: April 17, 2011, 04:23:42 AM
Did you guys check the site in chromium/chrome? It looks kinda screwy.

Nope. will do that later.

Edit: jsut checked, looks fine to me.

on my chrome (win 7 atm), the page is all on the left side, as if the page width is locked to 640pixels and aligned-left.

I checked with google chrome, comodo dragon, IE9, FF4. In all its in left side only. No difference

Thanks for checking, I've fixed that(I think, at least in Chrome, FF, IE6), should be centered now.
2257  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BitBid - Bitcoin Auction House on: April 17, 2011, 04:03:23 AM
Why don't you make a new address for each account? don't re-invent the wheel with this random payment scheme

I'm going to do this now. For some reason I was thinking there was a limited number of addresses I could use.

Well they are limited, there is what, only about a few Trillion of them? So don't go using them all up too soon.

Every time I try to run ./blackmarket.py register I get server errors similar to:
Code:
Server error: XXXXXX ASSUMING I SHOULD SHOW THIS AS IT LOOKS LIKE A PUBLIC KEY</div></td>
         </tr>

         <tr>
           <td>rack.request.query_string</td>
           <td class="code"><div></div></td>
         </tr>

         <tr>
           <td>rack.run_once</td>
           <td class="code"><div>false</div></td>
         </tr>

         <tr>
           <td>rack.url_scheme</td>
           <td class="code"><div>http</div></td>
         </tr>

         <tr>
           <td>rack.version</td>
           <td class="code"><div>[1, 0]</div></td>
         </tr>

         <tr>
           <td>sinatra.error</td>
           <td class="code"><div>#&lt;NameError: undefined local variable or method `exists&#39; for #&lt;Sinatra::Application:0x000000032480f8&gt;&gt;</div></td>
         </tr>

      </table>
      <div class="clear"></div>
    </div> <!-- /RACK ENV -->

    <p id="explanation">You're seeing this error because you have
enabled the <code>show_exceptions</code> setting.</p>
  </div> <!-- /WRAP -->
  </body>
</html>

Thanks bluematt, that's working now.

I'll update the look of the website later today.
