Oh ffs :*(
I just got home to find that ~1000DRK is missing from one of my mac wallets with very strong passcode.
I lost ~6BTC by what I thought was a trojan recently too (windows PC).
I'm starting to freak out that my wifi has been compromised. This is just fucking shit. I've invested right up to the limit of what I can afford in Darkcoin and the last thing I need right now is to lose investments.
Fuck this. Fuck this. Fuck this.
EDIT: Removed tipping address through paranoia and revised lost amount down as realised that one of the wallets is in tact still.
Sorry to hear that, man. I hope that your experience will be a learning opportunity for you and other Darkcoiners that may not have the most secure set-ups on their computers.. EDIT: I'm not saying that YOU didn't have a secure set-up, BTW!

Where is that "...cleaner more robust system where pools have zero power to cheat or not comply without forking...not dependent on enforcement...." - ? That just cant be done because if its not enforced, by definition they're free to not comply! The best thing ever is the spork itself! If they dont comply and screw the network, we can roll back safely no harm done to anyone, and back to the drawing board. This is a first in the crypto world and works like magic.
Call me biased, but I see DRK's reward solution quite elegant if not brilliant.
Initially (RC2/3) the protocol would ensure 100% compliance through a voting mechanism. The implementation had issues and it led to sporadic forks - and it was difficult to fix these issues due to the time required and the market pressure during the pump period of May/June. Then, as a workaround, the power went to the pools and the enforcement switch which, as a workaround, is not the ideal way. Hopefully one day we'll get it as it was meant to be and it will not cause sporadic forks either. You are 100% right. Would ensure 100% compliance if the network gained consensus, which it didnt. If it had, the exact same issue would, and did, happen in RC4. IIRC, the the spork was invented, and that problem seizes to exist. Because of some pool's foul play, Evan was "forced" to innovate and created yet another solution, the spork. A non enforcing mechanism that politely lets pool ops to have their time to update, and when the vast majority of the network is in compliance, flip the switch, and whoever is out, forks out. Its the opposite, no power went to the pools. Free will and choice went to the pools. It was indeed a workaround that instantly became a fabulous feature. Like in all coding history. Long live the spork!

The Spreadcoin dev is reviewing the Darkcoin code and just posted this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=715435.msg9839488#msg9839488Mr.spread,what's status of masternode and darksend developmnet?
It is far from ready yet but I think I found a potential vulnerability in DarkCoin which allows miners (actually pools) to not pay part of the block reward to masternodes. DarkCoin wallet checks the following things for each new block: 1) There is a payment to master node. 2) There is a payment with the same amount as a payment to master node should be (30%). But there is no check that this is the same payment. This means that if you generate a block you can pay 0.0000001 DRK to masternode and pay 30% and (70% - 0.0000001 DRK) to yourself as separate coinbase outputs. Such blocks should be accepted by DarkCoin network but I haven't tested it on testnet so I can't be 100% sure. I don't want any vulnerabilities out the wild so thought I'd check here. This is what happens when "Enforcement" is off, right? Or is this a separate issue and potential vulnerability? Patched: https://github.com/darkcoin/darkcoin/commit/ee8174a2c690b995003449a046b036d87ae25b5d (sorry, trimmed space after every line) Compiling 10.17.24 now, feel free to update from source Excellent work once again, Mr. Duffield, bug spotted, bug squashed in short order... Don't forget to thank Mr. Spread for discovering the bug! Thank you Mr. Spread for discovering the bug! Fixed.
