Yes, soon to be resolved.  Well, I need to have windows for work but I'll work something out.

I thought it was a Mac... you said ±1k from Mac ??

You freaking me out bro.

No, lost 6BTC from Windows PC and DRK from Mac.

Cant you trace the payment trail?

What good does it do once the funds are darksended? Sure, you get the initial throw away addy, but after done 8 rounds, it's as good as gone.

I hear you, but if the hacker was smart, they generated a fresh address to send the funds to and then would darksend them 8 rounds before sending them to either an exchange to sell or their own personal wallet.

Cheers, hadn't thought about doing it that way round.

Having said that, I've got vmplayer installed with a few linux distros for testing purposes so probably not a huge leap in imagination required!

I shit you not.  Bitcoin stealer.exe!!!

EDIT:  It was in temp internet files in IE.  I had literally never used Internet Explorer on this PC until last week when I had to because something I was using in Sharepoint for work wouldn't work in Chrome.

Malwarebytes is good
+1
I use different passwords for each wallet.
Before copying wallet on PC I use AWDcleaner + Malwarebytes before I do anything what is combined with the drk wallets. So far so good.
Eduffield we need 2FA quite quick to avoid this kind of problems.

What about protect wallet with our FingerPrint... (we'll need a captor on the PC but I think we can find cheap)...

Using a virtual machine is not that safer due to Host OS - Guest OS communication.
Better setup a dual boot

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Can you elaborate?  I'd think running a VM and NATing through would be reasonably safe?

Sorry maybe I sounded a bit arrogant - it wasnt my intention - but as far as I know there are still plenty of guest-to-host code execution exploit.
You are in some way exposing your host, I'd rather avoid it unless there is an ultimate hardening guide for your virtual machine.

^ On the other hand there is a distro (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qubes_OS) which achieves security through different layers of virtualization, I don't know maybe I am not that well informed Cheesy

Oh ffs :*(

I just got home to find that ~1000DRK is missing from one of my mac wallets with very strong passcode.

I lost ~6BTC by what I thought was a trojan recently too (windows PC).

I'm starting to freak out that my wifi has been compromised.  This is just fucking shit.  I've invested right up to the limit of what I can afford in Darkcoin and the last thing I need right now is to lose investments.

Fuck this.  Fuck this.  Fuck this.

EDIT:  Removed tipping address through paranoia and revised lost amount down as realised that one of the wallets is in tact still.

Sorry to hear that, man. I hope that your experience will be a learning opportunity for you and other Darkcoiners that may not have the most secure set-ups on their computers..

EDIT: I'm not saying that YOU didn't have a secure set-up, BTW!  Wink

Guys, help me out! I'm writing an article for DarkBlogs which will be a list of current Darkcoin apps by OS, for newcomers to see when they visit my page:

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/information-gathering-list-of-darkcoin-apps.3257/

Please contribute when you get a chance! Thanks.

Thanks mate.  Although I obviously didn't have a secure set up.

I'm just piecing things together but I think I just fell prey to a fairly simple trojan/keylogger.  The only reason I didn't lose the contents of all of my wallets is the fact that I had unique passphrases for all but the two that shared the same passphrase.  My AV says that it quarantined the file but that wasn't until after my BTC were stolen.

I'm not going to go into details on here but I'll be relocating my masternode wallets to an alternative and more appropriate location than a windows PC and insisting on using a unique passphrase for each one.

I'm licking my wounds but I'll be back.  I have an expensive few months coming up so I doubt I'll be able to spend any FIAT on darkcoin for a while but I'm going to see if I can earn as many bounties as possible and sell some "spare possessions" to see if I can make up for the loss.

Getting with the spirit of updated Masternode guides (video or otherwise), and seeing as it seems that Chaeplin is not coming back in the near future (or ever), I have updated my Masternode guide (post 3), by deleting the Uptime Robot monitoring information and including new websites, and monitoring apps which have been created since I created the guide.

Cheers!
