2261  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I asked Chat GPT what topics can help me earn merits on: May 02, 2023, 02:54:33 PM
I am sorry! If you think my reply on o_e_l_e_o on his reply was to defame him. The fact is you all got merits which were airdrop. We didn't and that is why I created this topic. I never knew it would hurt anyone. My intention was to help those like me find some help as to what topics might help them get Merits. Again I am very sorry if I have hurt anyone.

You are looking at things from a completely wrong angle when it comes to airdropped merits. It is true that some (and I am among them) reached their current ranks before the merits system, but many of us justified airdropped merits by "earning" several thousand merits since then, which means that looking back, many of us would have reached our ranks if the merit system had existed before 2018.

I understand that Chat GPT is a hot topic and everyone is talking about it and wants to use it for something, but that tool will not help you to be a member who will "earn" a lot of merits. In addition, what you received as a suggestion are not exactly topics that anyone can manage - you need to have the right knowledge to participate in discussions regarding mining, blockchain, wallet security, trading...
2262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 12-word seed vs 24-word seed? This seems pretty interesting on: May 02, 2023, 02:16:01 PM
Spammy, trash "news" site posts clickbait!? I'm shocked! Tongue
Well, I would say that Cointelegraph is not the best website out there, nor the most reliable one but I wouldn't call it spammy trash news website. What's your source of crypto news? I know it won't be one as it shouldn't be but usually, what website(s) do you visit? Your opinion on this task matters because you are a highly valued, knowledgeable member

I also don't have a good opinion of that news source because they used to pay people to spam links on this forum, and I've honestly avoided them ever since. There are certainly many better sources out there, although everyone probably has their favorite when it comes to cryptocurrency news. One of the better sources that deals with slightly more serious topics (although that's just my subjective assessment) -> BM
2263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 02, 2023, 01:23:51 PM
It is quite clear to me that people who lose money in one way or another are trying to outsmart the system (like this mother and son), but it is not clear to me that the punishment should be even 7 years in prison for such an act, and even less that the punishment can be replaced by a monetary one which is just a little more than $300 per person in this case.

For me, a fairer punishment would be to ban the mother and son from gambling, because they were found to be real addicts who have a serious problem. Such people should be helped to get rid of addiction, because punishment will not solve anything.
2264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Month of May. Bitcoin price guess on: May 02, 2023, 10:08:57 AM
I believe that the closer we are to the halving, that the demand will increase because everyone will want to buy while it is "cheap" in order to sell when the big bull run starts. Therefore, it is realistic to expect that the current positions could be maintained, and the increased demand could push the price of BTC upwards.

To me, any price in the range between $30k and $33k would seem like a good success for this month as an indicator of the positive trend that has prevailed since the beginning of this year. However, we should not be surprised if the opposite happens, because some bad news can always appear and have a negative effect on the market.
2265  Other / Meta / Re: How possible is selfmeriting ? on: May 02, 2023, 09:19:07 AM
Has anyone suggested to theymos to remove the merit text on yourself when viewing a post.
~snip~

It is possible that this question was asked at the beginning when the merit system was added to the forum, but considering that this option cannot be abused, it does not make much sense for it to be on the admin's priority list. There are probably some other things that confuse some members of the forum, but we hope that it will all be much better one day when we have a new forum.

Exactly  but one funny thing is that you can't  merit yourself if you haven't worked hard to earn any merit,
Hence we must work to earn this merit and I was just curious seeing this option  and I never dared to merit myself and that was why I had to throw the question  to the house.

The expression "work" in the context of the forum is not something we want to read because it implies that someone is here only to earn something, and not for what the forum exists for, discussions and exchange of opinions. Some "work" a lot, and yet the results are missing, so the key is still in something else, and everyone has to discover that for themselves.
2266  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hacker moved coins from my wallet on: May 02, 2023, 09:02:11 AM
OP, electrum recently posted a new version of the product; if you are talking about two or three months, then your version was not fresh. I'm always paranoid about updates and try to keep everything fresh.
~snip~

I advise caution with the latest versions, because as I already wrote in the Electrum board, they messed something up with the Android version, and some users report that the combination of Electrum+Ledger does not work for them. In addition, they turn a very simple wallet into something too complicated, especially for new users.

Yeah lessons learned with some price but now I need to see what would be the best way to setup my system and my way of working around these things. I now really wished that I would have come down to my senses for once and would have used my hardware wallet but being casual along the way you just start to follow things like you have been doing and only come down to sense once the harm has been done.

You have a new OS and that's a good start, and from now on be much more thorough in every step and check everything at least three times, and if necessary five times for larger amounts. Although no HW is perfect and cannot protect you from everything, it will still provide you with a fairly high level of security if you use it correctly.

What else should an established crypto casino add?

Of course, every potential player first looks at the selection of games or deposit bonuses, and for most online casinos that is certainly something that attracts new players, but I would like to point out one more very important thing, which is customer support. In the event that some unpleasant situation happens (and there are quite a few in the Scam accusation board), every casino should react as quickly as possible and clear things up before the impression is created that someone has really been scammed.

I think that reputation is very important in this business, and every player will be able to appreciate the quick resolution of possible problems and will remain loyal to that casino and recommend it to others.
2268  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal [Legendary] - 4 years passed on: May 01, 2023, 03:00:40 PM
Why don't you continue this in your other topic?

Maybe due to the fact that the old topic contains some very inconvenient information for the OP, which not only concerns plagiarism, but also accusations of an alt farm and the possibility that the OP got a permanent ban because one of his alt accounts was permabanned. This is a link from 2018 that I posted in the topic you mention, and apparently the OP was banned not because of plagiarism, but because of the reasons I mentioned before.
2269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vigilante hacker burns about $300k worth of BTC linked to Russian intelligence on: May 01, 2023, 02:29:14 PM
Right.  I read this thread multiple times and still do not get it.  Why not send all the money to Ukraine then.  Why burn it.  Something seems off.  If they have a grudge against Russia it gets more weird.  Russia would be happy to know part of the money did not land in the pockets of Ukraine.

Maybe the hacker was unaware at the time of the hacking that there was a BTC address for donations or the hacking happened before the attack on Ukraine regardless of the fact that March 2022 is mentioned. The part of the article called "Pure intentions" may explain to some extent why the hacker burned those coins, but according to what @o_e_l_e_o found, less than 10 BTC was hacked, not hundreds of BTC as the author states at the end of the article.

“Our hypothesis is that the OP_RETURN sender did this to make the discovery of the transactions, and the accusations associated with them, more likely.”
2270  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Hacker moved coins from my wallet on: May 01, 2023, 11:02:19 AM
As for Malwarebytes, I am bit surprised that it didn't alerted something running in background whenever I opened Electrum. I am bit paranoid about scripts running in background or autostartup so I had softwares to check those as well and delete/remove those things as well.

I assume you have the Premium version? Even then, you cannot be sure that it will detect every malicious software or attempt to compromise your operating system. When you look at the fact that hackers break into highly sophisticated systems and steal information, it should not be surprising that they bypass some trivial protections compared to such systems.

About hardware wallet, I still have a Ledger Nano which I have used in the past to hold big balances but right now I don't use it. So yeah I have the policy of big balances to hardware wallets but there are cases where I need to move coins fast I tend to loose up a little and move into wallets that I have in my easily accessible devices.

It's a shame that you stopped using the device that would have most likely protected you from what happened to you, but people learn best from their own mistakes. Surely you know that you can have multiple wallets on HW and protect each of them individually with a passphrase, so you can separate something that you keep long-term from what you will use in some way as a hot wallet.
2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Vigilante hacker burns about $300k worth of BTC linked to Russian intelligence on: May 01, 2023, 10:32:08 AM
The title of the article is :
Quote
Vigilante hacker burns hundreds of BTC held in wallets used by Russian intelligence

Although the value of those burned coins is estimated at only $300 000, and that does not fit into the story considering that at that time 1 BTC was worth an average of about $40 000. Does that mean he destroyed a little more than 7 BTC?

I don't see the logic in destroying something that can be useful to someone else, especially in the context that it is claimed that he sent part of the BTC as a donation to Ukraine.

New icons with notifications

Yesterday I noticed a yellow star in front of the notification about the received merit, but that icon appeared only in one notification, so I assume that it appears once every 24 hours, considering that it is the only notification I have turned on.
2273  Economy / Economics / Re: My predictions for next decades world economics on: April 30, 2023, 02:37:13 PM
I'm pretty sure I've read something very similar before and that the OP is an alt account of someone who very likely got permabanned.

World war 3 start about 2024-2025 safest locations during the the world war 3 Will be USA UK and some part of Europe Baltics Nation Will be safer then scandinavian Nations.

The Third World War implies weapons of mass destruction - nuclear weapons, and if we agree on that, then the US or the UK and even most of Europe will not be the safest place in the world. The entire northern hemisphere is the zone of highest risk.

I have a lot more to say about everything but i just mentioned main points.

Please post your future points in another board such as Politics&Society or Off topic, because this has little or nothing to do with the economy.

Merit If you like it Smiley LET me know ur opinion about this prediction.

I don't like it and I will never give a single merit to someone who explicitly asks for it Angry
2274  Economy / Gambling / Re: Looking for the best tipsters in the world on: April 30, 2023, 01:54:15 PM
I really don't understand why people think tipsters can make someone profit. If they were so good at predicting then they were not going to sell the information in exchange of a fees. They could just simply bet of different casino / sportsbooks and make a lot of money.

There are various contests in which tipsters compete publicly and as I already wrote some of them are really good and have a high percentage of wins - but this is not about fixed matches, but about sports events in which the outcome can be predicted based on the strength of the teams and their current form. But these are smaller odds of around 1.50 on average and if you want to earn something, you have to invest a little more money, which not everyone can do, so such offers are not very attractive.
2275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Someone at FIFA/UEFA should do something about the referees on: April 30, 2023, 10:39:42 AM
I researched a little more and I believe that the values are very close, in other sites the values change a little more or less, but the average is the same.
The argentinian matches were "curious" in the last world cup, I also agree with you but this is almost impossible to prove, I find it very difficult to know who is honest and serious in FIFA after they discovered all those scandals.

According to everything we have seen, Qatar won the hosting of the world championship only because they distributed money to everyone who decided on it, and did not ask for the price - the same as Russia did before them. Of course, you can't prove regardless of all the dubious decisions and the non-use of VAR in the same, although this is perhaps the best proof that even with such technology, the game can be directed in the direction that was previously agreed upon.

I don't know if you are following, but there is probably a big scandal happening about the Spanish championship involving Barcelona, it is worth reading and get even more angry:

Big clubs, a lot of money and a lot of influence on everything that can be influenced, and the fact that they did it for 17 years without anyone from the Spanish authorities doing anything shows the level of corruption even in top football. However, Barcelona is too powerful for something serious to happen to it, and the man at the head of UEFA is certainly not the one who will clean the house of European football.

2277  Economy / Gambling / Re: Looking for the best tipsters in the world on: April 29, 2023, 02:53:56 PM
The world is big, nothing is impossible!
Looking for the best tipsters in the world(Fixed match)
but I need to verify it...

Of course, nothing is impossible - I know a site where there are many tipsters who have over 70%, even 80% wins, but mostly the odds are around 1.5. You won't find what you're looking for (fixed matches) so easily, because if such matches exist (and they do exist), big money is made there, and no one shares them online or sells them for a few hundred dollars.

From my experience with such things, no one will let you verify such things for free, you always have to pay in advance, and in case the bet is successful, they usually ask you to pay another part of the won prize.
2278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is your stand as a Bitcoin holder. on: April 29, 2023, 10:54:42 AM
Someone obviously likes to play with sea creatures, but it's nothing new that we haven't seen before - because most of the holders are at the bottom of the food chain anyway, which means shrimp&crabs🦀🦐

It may sound strange, but it doesn't matter to me how much BTC someone owns, but whether they understand what they own and whether they use it in the right way.

Hello! I Looking for the best tipsters in the world
winrate 80%+, better is 90%+(Asian Bet or Bet365), you know what I said
~snip~

To save you time, you are looking for the impossible and you will never find it because such tipsters do not exist. If by any chance they existed and in addition shared their tips with others, most bookmakers would fail very quickly, or they would be forced to block them. You have countless tipsters online who offer their "premium services", although the question is why they sell information that is supposedly very valuable for relatively small amounts?

I know why and how, and you will find out too if you try their services Wink
2280  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcrypto.cr |No KYC Casino & Sportsbook| 200% welcome bonus + 100% reload bonus on: April 29, 2023, 10:19:45 AM
Thanks we don't have KYC in our system we are never going to ask for it

I have nothing against you not having KYC, but under which licenses will you operate and how will you protect yourself and prevent someone from doing bad things through your casino? Somehow it all seems too good to be true, but everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves, just as everyone deserves the right to express their doubts.
