2321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) is scam on: January 03, 2015, 12:02:25 PM
May be try looking at Bitcoin chart when it first started.

The dollar has lost 99.99% against bitcoin in the last 6 years.... Paycoin has lost over 60% against the dollar in the last 2 days.
Bitcoin has a much better store of value than paycoin because its disinflationary , not highly inflationary.... It would be safer investing in the Argentinian peso than paycoin.

Bitcoin declined from 1200 to 300. lol. Just because it has gained value against $ doesn't mean it's not risky. I could buy a soda for $1 in 2009 and I can do the same in 2014. Can't say that about bitcoin.

I'm not taking sides but you can't compare one that's 4 years old and one that's just 2 days old. It isn't fair to the one that started late. Give it 4 years and then we can judge.
2322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) is scam on: January 03, 2015, 11:55:18 AM
Currency is something that you use to purchase something whereas commodity is an asset that you hold until it gains value.

If I want stability in a currency I use fiat for the time being... paycoin is way more volatile than Bitcoin and losing value far quicker than bitcoin. 2 days vs 1 year.

lol.

May be try looking at Bitcoin chart when it first started.
2323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) is scam on: January 03, 2015, 11:46:33 AM

What's wrong with that?

Well for start, Paycoin was started and is controlled by a dishonest fraud..... but hypothetically lets assume that this wasn't the case.... paycoin is trying to fill the role that other fiat currencies already fulfill (USD, Euro, ect) so isn't even competing directly with Bitcoin but those currencies. This is fine in itself as the free market should allow this to happen, but personally, I see no reason to use paycoin above fiat myself . I can already use my Amex and get cash back sir. I can already trick amazon by using my friends amazon associate account to get up to 10% off like paysave does and violate the TOS.

It's not because it's not good but we have only handful of people who use BTC as currency. Majority use it as commodity.

Almost everyone uses Bitcoin as a currency or a speculative asset with between 2-5million users .
Paycoin is being used almost exclusively as a speculative asset with a few thousand users.

Its isn't even comparable.

Right, you have no reason until you can get something out of it. If they throw 10% discount every time you use XPY then lot of people would jump on that opportunity.

Currency is something that you use to purchase something whereas commodity is an asset that you hold until it gains value. How many people purchase something with BTC? only handful. There is a reason price is declining and it wouldn't if we had buyers and the way price is declining I'm not even sure if we'll ever get more buyers. It looks too risky at this point even as an investment. Risk to reward ratio is too much for lot of new investors.

I don't get why they are doing it this way lol. Kind of suspicious imo, why on earth are you going to layout a series of questions over 30 days and why only a singular question per day unless of course they are sorting through the questions to find ones that are "safe" or that they are simply stalling for time.

not sure. May be they're trying answer each question with as much details as possible.

and it takes exactly one day to answer exactly one question with as much detail as possible?  because all questions need a days worth of research and writing, but not one needs more?  not one needs less?

come on man, I have talked to numerous devs for numerous platforms.  they get asked the same questions over and over and the non-scammy devs always have their responses ready to go.

it is not hard to predict that somebody will ask, "hey, why did you tell me you would give me a 10% discount at Walmart, Amazon, and Target when that was obviously bullshit?"

I am guessing the answer to that one will be just like the one before, "well..... er.... we thought that..... but now we realized that...... so....... SORRY.  but don't worry, we are planning on making it up."  (last part written with a wink, wink, nod, nod)

lol, you're right but they probably have lot of other things on their hand given the circumstances and they aren't trying to spend all day online answering questions.

Paycoin is trying to do that Bitcoin never achieved.

Well you are certainly right about this as these 2 currencies are fundamentally different.

Paycoin                                                                                                                       Bitcoin

1) Started as a way to extend a fractional reserve mining ponzi                                          1) Started by cypherpunk as an attempt to remove corruption from banks and states
2) 93+% premine controlled by GAW                                                                                2) PoW allows anyone to equally compete for the distribution from day one
3) GAW and partners(?) will control the best inflation that print out at 350%                        3) PoW allows a tech arms race to determine who controls the mining
4) Centralized and principally controlled by one company                                                    4) Decentralized and controlled by full nodes
5) Highly inflationary                                                                                                        5) Disinflationary
6) Very little development support or innovation                                                                 6) Thousands of the best developers working on the code for many years

What's wrong with that?

We all are proof of BTC value decline. It's not because it's not good but we have only handful of people who use BTC as currency. Majority use it as commodity.

I've actually sold items in one of those stores (brick and mortar) before. Knowing how hard it is to get even a product listed, I can guarantee that these guys are not even on any of these chain's radar. To think they are, especially as a payment system, is the most retarded thing I've ever heard anyone here believing

Money speaks. I have not seen anything "official" from any of those retailers regarding the involvement of XPY myself but I don't think it's something that's impossible if you got the money and strategy. I'm not sure why they would just throw that info randomly if they haven't been talking to those retailers. It would hurt their business more than anything. As far as I know, Josh wouldn't create fake news like that just to gain profit from p&d. It's on their paybase site loud and clear. Anyone can report it to those retailers and there will be lawsuit. I'm pretty sure Gaw is well aware of it.

I think two of these things would happen:

Gaw would shut down because of lawsuits and fraud.

OR

XPY will rise like there is no tomorrow.

From business point of view second option makes more sense if I want to build trust and attract more customers. I wouldn't fraud anyone if I was him just for quick profit when I already have a successful business.

It’s come time for our company to respond to the criticisms of some in the industry with straight-forward, transparent information about GAW Miners’ operations. This thread will establish the foundation of truth - answers to questions our critics have leveled. For the next 30 business days (M-F), We will post a single question taken from the community and answer it as plainly and openly as possible.

We will keep this page here, and will continue to post a question and answer each day.

Some facts before we begin

PayBase is a cryptocurrency payment processing business owned by Business Technology for Cryptocurrency, LLC (BTC). BTC is also the parent company of GAW Miners (GM), a Bitcoin and Litecoin mining business.

GM was built to bring integrity and professionalism to the cryptocurrency industry - an industry, that to this day, suffers from one fraudulent blow to the next. PayBase was built to bring cryptocurrency mainstream, and to do so as a properly licensed and compliant MSB (Money Service Business).

PayCoin is a coin built on the Proof of Stake model. Paycoin investment took the form of a private pre-mine open to early investors and a public pre-mine available to GAW customers. Following the private and public pre-mines of Paycoin, a short period of PoW was offered to the crypto community to participate in accumulating the coin. The private pre-mine served the purpose of collecting monies necessary to support development of the coin and the makers makers creating services to surround the coin.

The public pre-mine served as a reward for GAW customers’ loyalty and for their support of GM during its growth. The Proof of Work phase served to allow some degree of fairness and access to the coin to the crypto community at large, a community which GAW sees itself as upstanding member of. After all three phases were complete, Paycoin became and is, today, a Proof of Stake coin.

(First day of Transparency)

Q: There has been a lot of controversy online, regarding the alleged promise of Paycoins being purchased back by Paycoin/GAW at $20USD per coin. Many people feel this was a promise made to the Paycoin customers that never materialized. As of this morning, Paycoin is trading at $6 per coin, far from the $20 floor that some feel was promised. Can you please definitively state what promises were made, if any, and if there is still a plan to honor a $20USD price for the coin?

When we made this commitment, we had funds set aside to purchase Paycoins at the $20 value. Our goal was to use the CAF or Coin Adoption Fund to help stabilize the value of Paycoin.

When PayBase launched, we purchased the overwhelming amount of Paycoins being cashed out within PayBase with these funds. Many coins were sold for more than the $20 target we set. A large portion of those funds were quickly used by the large volume of sell orders - sell orders that bypassed our sell limits because users created multiple accounts from which to sell their coins at this price.

This was something we incorrectly calculated and a lesson that we'll carry forward with us.

Outside of the significant drain supporting the marketplace had on our reserves, we have since learned that the CFTC (Commodity Futures Trading Commission) has specifically stated that they can hold a company liable for manipulating pricing. For these reasons (and the ones above), the “hard floor” strategy cannot succeed and we have no plans to re-implement it.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/cftc-commissioner-says-agency-has-authority-over-bitcoin-price-manipulation-1416265016

We are committed to turning the price of Paycoin around through the development of payment processing and other services to support the value proposition that Paycoin represents.

(Second Day of Transparency)

Q: How will you increase the value of Paycoin?

We want to be clear, we are every bit as committed to Paycoin as ever regardless of the current state of affairs. And we will use every ounce of our talent and creativity to bring all the features Paybase has announced. Development of these features take time.

We have come incredible features lined up for PayBase, you can expect to things no other platform has and that the industry has never seen and these features will be exclusive to Paycoin.

The majority of the Primary features of PayBase should be available in the coming quarter. Please refer to the timeline we posted on the project a couple of months ago.

(Third Day of Transparency)

Q: Why has it taken them this long to develop a platform that appears to have little functionality and no merchant support?

We have adhered to timeline we published before this project started. In fact, we are ahead of schedule. We expect to deliver early on our promised features.

PAYCOIN PLATFORM SELL FOR BTC: 19th Dec 2014 - 19th Jan 2015 (completed)
PAYBASE MERCHANT INTEGRATION: 19th Dec 2014 - 15th Jan 2015 (due in two weeks)
PAYCOIN PLATFORM DEBIT CARD SIGN UP: 20th Dec 2014 - 19th Jan 2015 (in progress)
PAYBASE SELL FOR FIAT: 15th Jan 2015 - 20th Mar 2015 (in process)

I've never seen a coin crash this fast and this hard. Not even a decent dead cat bounce. This speaks volumes.

I'm stuck with some mined coins but no way in hell am I buying any.   Cheap coins are useless if you can't sell them.

that's what happens when a new born crypto is attacked with accusations. It has happened to every coin out there. Paycoin is trying to do that Bitcoin never achieved. Target, Walmart, Amazon. Those are some huge retailers who don't accept Bitcoin. They're also adding debit card option which will allow you buy Paycoin instantly. Paycoin gets in it'll be a huge achievement for digital currency. Obviously, some of these bitcoin supporters can't pass the fact that Bitcoin is nothing but digital currency. Thinking that world revolves around it would only make it worse for everyone who is invested in crypto or bitcoin.

If they can, keyword being if. If they didn't accept bitcoin then what makes you think they'll accept paycoin. While you say Bitcoin is nothing but digital currency you forget that for the time being XPY is the same exact thing except as of now it's price is tied to bitcoin which is tied to fiat.

that's exactly my point. Everything is connected to each other and separating one coin from the other will make everything else suffer. Many bitcoin users come to altcoin to increase their BTC but they also waste time in calling it scams without realizing that if crypto is gone BTC value will also decline because all the user base that is invested in crypto is also invested in BTC.

Bitcoin came as an innovation and instead of taking something from it and making it better people are glued to it. It's same as people buying Nike just for the sake of owning a brand name.

2335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Wolf of GAW Street on: January 03, 2015, 08:37:30 AM
It seems like only people hating on XPY are Bitcoin supporters. They're forgetting that interest in crypto/bitcoin is limited. Look at Bitcoin it's dying and it'll be dead very soon just like all the digital currency that came before it. If anyone thinks that public hasn't heard about bitcoin they're living in fairly land. In fact majority of population have heard/lost/invested in bitcoin and found out that it was nothing but a HUGE ponzi scheme.

People who have 10 BTC invested in XPY are the same ones who have 50 BTC in their wallet and both are related to each other. If they lose interest in crypto it'll also affect how they look at BTC. It's related to each other.

Honestly, You're making BTC look bad by making it a war between BTC and crypto.
What war? People are criticizing XPY because there is plenty to criticize.

Some are but majority is only criticizing it because if it succeeds it'll change how people look at crypto FOREVER. There is huge interest in XPY. 10,000 weekly orders. Someone mentioned somewhere that he is trying to take over btctalk and lot of bitcoin supporters don't want it to happen because it'll damage bitcoin in huge way. Think about all the traffic btctalk gets and if it goes to hashtalk then btctalk will be dead in few years.

It's not as simple as it looks. Go around the internet and look at comment section under all articles regarding XPY. Who the hell are those people? I have never seen so many people trying so hard to bring one crypto down. Obviously they aren't just some random people who're just trying to share their views. Nobody has that much time to go around and talk shit about a coin they aren't invested in. How many coins out there get that much hate? NONE. All of them are bitcoin supporters and only handful are sharing their views.

Hi fellow altcoiners,

How can we get more money, preferably from fiat, to flow into altcoins in general? This scene has really devolved into a limited money supply continually shrinking and moving from one coin to the next, without much new money ever being introduced.

Are crypto 2.0 coins like Nxt the answer? Or networks of coins like the SuperNET?

It'll never happen. Just look around in the forum and see how many people are trying to destroy it. Bitcoin & crypto will be dead by 2020.  Talk to people outside this industry and ask them what they think about it.  You'll hear one word "Scam" and that's what it'll ever become.
2339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Paycoin failed on: January 03, 2015, 08:05:01 AM
so True. Why AUR, IFC, XMR, MAX, DARK, Nubits, XPY and ECT... fail?

If a coin fails at the beginning it automatically becomes a Scam. People are too quick to judge and forget that BTC was failing hard in the begining when it first started. I don't see any future in crypto or bitcoin. Everytime I talk to someone who has never invested in crypto all I hear is "Scam" and I'm slowly changing my mind as well. Then I come to this forum which supposed to be filled with "digital currency" supporters and I see them shooting at each other coin and calling each other out. It really disgusts me and I"ll be very surprised if crypto becomes something in future than just stock exchange filled with ponzi schemes and people who're trying to bring it down.

If people don't change their attitude towards crypto you can forget about adoption. People have lost millions & billions in crypto and bitcoin. The end is near. In 20 years from now you'll look back at digital currency and regret that you were ever a part of it. Just look around yourself. The community that should do everything to help it are putting their time in destroying it but they can't see that how it's destroying everything that's going on in digital currency world.
