dmwardjr ot toptek or anyone else,

After getting the wrong fan ( 3,9 A ), I connect fan directly to PSU ( over MOLEX ). Fan is starting OK, but S5, doesn't start to hash and I get red light back on S5. It was turned off completly from power for a week.

Is it burned ?

See picture below.

Everthing seem normal, except red light and no hashing.

Solutions ? Do I buy recommended fan from toptek ?

Did you hard ware  reset it or  re flash the firmware to try and fix it , if not make sure to only use the firmware off bitmains site . but hard ware reset it first . turning it off with out a reset may not do it .

If you look at the front of it nere the red light is a hole  thats says reset , stick a small pin or nail in the there till it beeps a few times while it turns red then turn if off unplug it wait 30 mins then plug it back in . what that does it reset the miner to defaults . it may all so change the miners IP . if that doesn't work on the back of the controller is a black button that does a hard ware reset to but it's harder to reset that way but works to you have to play with it some that way or it seemed to reset that way for me once or 2s .

AS dog said plug the stock fan back in .

@J4bberwock,

will you create a new post specifically for your new toys? So far I could see, I'm betting all my coins on your project than SF100...

I would love to have a custom made board like this one ... I 'm watching this one a lot .

It's not like this is a new company touting impossible specs. They've been around for more than a year (formerly known as gridseed) and have delivered all miners without any significant issues AFAIK.

Gridseed had quite a few issues with their units, in fact. The original orbs were widely reported to have VERY bad QC and poor design, the "80" blades were BADLY underengineered and tended to eat their power voltage converter circuitry a LOT - but they DID deliver reliably, just that the stuff they delivered had VERY BAD board-level engineering. Their GC3355 CHIPS however seemed to work well.

From what I've seen about the SF100 so far, that appears to NOT have changed.

any new products sold in the US are suppose to come with a year warranty by law

There is NO such law to my knowlage at the federal level. There is a RECOMMENDATION out of the FTC that does not in fact have force of law on that subject.
If you're looking at something else, link it.

Selling used gear as new, however, is an open-and-shut case of fraud under US consumer protection laws - if it can be proved that the item WAS in fact used when it was sold as new. There are some outs though - like cars that are test-driven can still be sold as new as long as they get the full factory warentee, and electronic gear that goes through burn-in testing by the manufacturer is still counted as new.

I've not seen Zoomhash doing that to date, but my sample size of gear bought from them is fairly small.

your right i was thinking of the  implied warranty all most all states have . I will try to find out what Steal series meant mybad . they told me the US warranty in the US is for one year on new products  by law and the EU warranty extends longer . I guess I miss understand just what they meant . but I went and looked after you said NO such law your right .was going by what steal series told me they replaced it after i sent it in they had make sure it was defective which is normal and fair .

I saw some thing thu  about that

Don't test-driven drien car have a limit on the miles it driven before that's not true or it is used.  but yea it if sold as new and is used you can prove it then it's fraud. key word prove it .

that may hold up diff  didn't really pay much attention to it about cars it may fall under a diff complaint if they try to claim it as a burn-in testing etc and the dealer can't say that's on the manufacturer any more either . but its a real pain in the but to get thu it all . might not be worth the hassle . and your state would handle that i think it said .

I've never seen Zoomhash do it either and anything i bought off them was new it was sold as new or used if it's sold that way . but Ive only bought little stuff from them to .
2324  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer R1 on: August 14, 2015, 04:14:13 AM
Looks like we are finally seeing our first miner in a device, I assume this uses one of the new S7 chips in it instead of just throwing it on a usb stick. This could be really cool to check out!

The 2w is for the router only part, don't expect that to be the power draw while mining expect a at least one chip or two in there.

would you pay 7k for that ?.

I think they mean it would be around 7k if you got a block with it.  So it's talking about possible reward, not cost I think.

Again I could be wrong but I'm thinking they are talking about it winning at "lotto" or solo mine with little device.

I know it just how it's worded to sell . it makes you think two things . I do hope so , but it does look cool.the real price might be a the price of one U3 but the catch you have to buy 20 .

10 days for mining 1 KW mining for 7k + that is a dollar sigh now that means two things to me it cost 7k to buy or in 10 days you can make 7k . either way both are wrong or what fool will pay 7 k for some thing that won't do that in 10 days if it means that . lmao .
2326  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: August 14, 2015, 02:36:50 AM
when we can buy again these miner?
Nobody knows really but I think zoomhash has a couple instock at the crazy price of 2000$, so if you really want one and want to lose money you could get one from them, I would wait it out,  they seem to be having issues.

It is crazy how much they jacked the price a 40 percent margin on a reseller is rediclous.  I think were better off waiting on future batch and we will have a chance at roi then.

I predict resellers start at high mark, and run them their self  until sold.   Most likely keeping a high margin till next batch is close to shipping.    It is sad but we can hope next batch soon.
Oh most definitely they are doing that and until the next batch is there they can drop it down to a 10% percent mark up and make a ton still and have had some free machines to mine off for a couple of months.

I don't believe it's legal to do that in the USA (selling used equipment as new). I would hope zoomhash would know better. If anyone receives a unit from zoomhash that obviously looks used they should explore their legal options. I bet you could end up getting the miner for free after damages Smiley

In the US It is but you have to prove it by filing complaints they will step in and look at it . but it is a from of fraud . and any new products sold in the US are suppose to come with a year warranty by law .  not 90 days . but bitmain gets a way with that one by selling over the internet as far as i know they do no kind of in store sells or have no  brick and mortar stores in the US that's how they get way with it unlike steal series etc. I mean you just can't go to your local bestbuy and buy a (ANtS5) if we could it has to have a year warranty and be new if it is sold as new . i think used stuff can be any were from 30 to 90 days .

I found that out once with a steal series gaming mouse, I had to return for warranty.

There is a mark up law to but doing it over the internet  bypasses that one to .

I never push it because i know i won't get any were with it so i leave it a lone . beside even if i could it might hurt miners in the US any way why would i want to hurt us over a warranty etc the whole world would have to stand up to them .to fix it .

I feel this way about them all because of a recent ripe off i feel bitmain tried to do to me and played pretty hard nosed about it for no reason . for a while there i thought they were really cool .

EU has a longer warranty steal series told me but i have no idea how it works there .

WTF is the

Antrouter R1 ? .

https://www.antpool.com/user/antRouter.htm

I was looking for info, too--just saw that tab on antpool.  There's nothing listed in the store of at BITMAIN.  It's a hashing wireless router, looks like.

you would think prices would come down if they really want it all main stream .

I mean if they want it to get like PC one in every home jacking up prices won't do it . by this and this it seems we will be seeing more and more of this stuff from them . to me it looks like they want bitmain to be a house hold name well price jacking won't get you there .

Q:If I dug bitcoin, how much is the profit?
A:The profit AntRouter can make is a whole "block", which includes all 25-26 bitcoins output from it.

how long will that take ?.
wonder how they fix this with no noise no heat . that will also be interesting to see and is able to mine a block .

...

I hope that this topic is in the right part of the forum, it's technical and relates to a big risk re Bitcoin.

I have been reading that the new Windows 10 OS has a LOT of privacy-destroying "features", including a rudimentary keystroke logger.  I read that that using it will expose passwords and other sensitive info to Microsoft.

But, what I have read was not at technical blogs or websites!  I did see this item at Reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3grgxn/att_windows_10_serious_threat_to_bitcoin_privacy/

This of course would make use of online wallets risky, but probably hardware wallets (Trezor and Ledger) less so if they were ALREADY setup before Win 10.

I invite comments re Windows 10 and its likely BAD effects on privacy.  Maybe having a computer tech install Win 7, say, after I get my next computer?

(I am not ready for Linux.........)

you can just turn it all off  Smiley .  I do .

I don't use UAC i have major issue with using it. to me it's junk . if i can't use edge the i can't use it, i never use the store .

may all be a moot point don't know what will be asking price and shipping price of the big one.

Yeah, it could become a rather pricey experiment to conduct (big $$$$).

From what I read, ~$3300 each, and they require more power than most houshold rooms (USA) can safely relay.  A garage or shop with a 220V circuit may be able to do the job.       --scryptr

right now it is 2750  usd on bitmaintech's chinese website

the usa seller wants 3299 plus 75 to ship  so It would be 3374 from him.  I get some very small discounts if I use paypal so it drops to 3314.  Which is too much.

But bitmaintech at 2750 + ? to ship could be  under 3000.  Still too much but closer to what I want to pay.

I ran some ROI math at 2.7K I personally cant justify it as much as I want to.   It is better then resellers.  Quite honestly I'm getting tired of resellers adds one extra layer of paying more.  I would rather get direct.   SFards seems to have made resellers happy which is not a good way to go for hobby miners.

But I agree would love to own one just need to get it at a lower cost.

Yea LMAO  but it's been going on for years with PC well everything .and it is very annoying how greedy they can get .
2332  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: August 12, 2015, 09:05:32 PM

One cautionary note: I'd swear that Bitmain has disabled support for more than two blades on the more recent S5 firmware. You'll also need to work out the issues associated with the fact that there are THREE hashing boards within each "s5 like" section of the S5+ miner. I have no idea what the S5+ firmware will do if it doesn't come up with all 9 hashing blades, or if some of them are S5 and not S5+ blades. Things could get ugly right quick since the number of chips per hashing board, and string topology is different between the S5 and S5+. While it would be nice to intermix stuff, it might well not be possible at this time (or ever).

Works for me with latest S5 firmware.

That's easy make it , two firmware and update it so other wise good point it might become a nitemare firm ware wise because of the big diff .

The difference between 50% load and 100% load in terms of 80+ testing is 3-4% loss in efficiency.

Varies some, I've seen a few high-end Gold units lose closer to 2% between those points.

Quote

PSU's unlike miners are ASSETS and not LIABILITIES

Miners are not liabilities as long as they can mine at a profit. I'd class them as short-term high depreciation assets, vs, power supplies where a good power supply can be a very long-term asset.

Given that I anticipate the "in process of showing up" generation of miners to have a high probability of being viable for 4+ years, I doubt that power supplies will outlast 3 generations of miner past the "current showing up" generation on a high-probability bases. Miners are catching up to "state of the art" in the current generation, after a few years of each ASIC generation being well behind the current state of the art for semiconductor manufacture.

50% to 80% load on MOST gold power supplies is usually less than a 1% drop in efficiency. Seems like the optimal point from a ALL costs basis is around 70-80% ballpark - which is also a good point to be at from a LONG TERM reliability basis.

Quote

I'm really not sure about downclocking and power usage

In my S5 testing, the efficiency was pretty close to flat vs. clock rate from 300 Mhz to 380ish. The varience seemed to be mostly "measurement tolerance" and a very small contribution from the small efficiency difference in the power supply with varying load level.
I don't see dropping to 275 being a significant efficiency change.

POWER usage on the other hand did change with the clock changes, downclocking WOULD drop the total power used appx. in proportion to the clock rate change.

2TH at 700 watts wouldn't be practical out of an S5 form factor unit, you'd need more chips than you could fit on 3 boards. 1TH at around 350 though I could see happening if Bitmain wanted to do it, 2 strings of 20 chips per board with 3 boards - I'd have to go look up one of my posts in the Gekko BM1384 thread to find the figures I worked out.

my point was i did not expect this this way i did say a while back we might get a S5 + some place but i did not expect it this way . by me saying 700 watts Power use age @2 th, i meant not so much with this chip maybe in a S7 etc in the same style as a s1 s3 s5 if they want to they can do it would take them time but it is poss and remember nothing is impossible.

they dropped a biggie on everyone , not many saw this coming, a few did but not many .

last thought I'l let this go

How much more can they push this die size before going to lets say 22 or even 16 it is very impressive they took it this far .

I'll bet not much more and why we got the S5 + this way to help found the next push.  which imo is a smart move.

For USA customers ,  ITOP Shop  will Ship locally from NY , thanks.

Will that price include shipping?

If Bitmain is selling direct for $2750, I'd rather go there, ship direct and take my chances with customs.  Your price is too high to yet add shipping on top, if their price does end up as stated.

heck he is in New York I could drive from New Jersey. Cut the shipping out.

i could drive to NY it's  maybe a 3 hour drive for me . but i really don't want one even if i could afford it i wouldn't . I was hoping for something  more like the S5 to  use less power and offer more hash . like maybe 700 watts at 2 th.I

Most likely I will order one of these and 1 s-5 from bitmaintech.  this is not exactly what I want to do and right now we are trending up hard in diff so I am not sure waht I am doing.

NO place to put a S5 + one set back for me and price, over time i can get one Sfards and one more S5 . I'm not counting on anything cheap and good for home users any more from bitmain.

which had to happen sooner or later . I hope im wrong but more then likely I'm not .

Any one want any miners? I think not....

It depends only on price.

I am selling 7 PCS of ANY MINER S5, second hand, that have been running for 4 months.

Contact me juneleekr@gmail.com
Sure you chose a wrong thread for WTS post, but PM sent.  Wink

I would agree on depends on price.  I would like to see the S5+ being sold to US.   Kinda stinks they don't have it listed for more then China.

I think it pushes 7T if the specs in another thread were right.

I saw in a post some place it suppose to go on sell on there main site to the US Friday, now i can't find it . bitmains words .

found it

Yup those deltas wont work on the controler, but you can connect them directly to the PSU and have them working 100% rpm which is what you want at the end. And that way if pool goes down or internet goes down your device wont be fried...

Sorry for my question, but how can I connect this fan directly to PSU ?

Shadow,

Sorry to hear the 3.9 amp fan you chose did not work.  I bought all of my fans initially for my S4's.  I assumed they would be fine as well for SP20's and S5's.  It appears now I could be mistaken.  I paid more attention to CFM and RPM rather than amps or watts.

I hope your rig is not ruined.

Does anyone here have specifications for the watts and/or amps for fans with the S5?

I'm not sure about the fan someone else recommended that does not have quite the RPM's the BITMAIN fan installed in the S5.  Bitmain's fan could easily go up to 4,000 RPM's.  The one someone recommended was 3700 RPM's maximum.

The only fan I'm aware of at the moment to offer greater than 4000 RPM's with a lower amperage than the Delco 1212 series fans is the following:  http://www.amazon.com/Sanyo-Denki-SAN-Ace-120mm/dp/B00QWB1X3O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1439317263&sr=1-2-fkmr0&keywords=Sanyo+Denki+SunAce+120+9GV1212P1J091

Here are the specs for the fan:

Sanyo Denki SunAce 120 9GV1212P1J091
Voltage: 12V
Power consumption: 6400RPM 36W
Rated current: DutyCycle 100% @ 3A
Air Flow: 6400RPM @ 224CFM
Noise: 6400RPM @ 64 dB-A
Air Pressure: 6400RPM 36.82 MM-H2O
Life Expectancy: 40000 hrs @ 40°C
Connector: 2510-4P

CONNECTING STRAIGHT TO PSU:

First, you may need to get a 4-Pin Molex Male to 6-Pin PCI-E Female Power Adapter Cable if your PSU did not come with this cable included. Some people are using server grade PSU's with custom made breakout boards that more than likely did not include the cable I mentioned previously.  Here is a link to several choices of that cable:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=6+pin+pcie+to+4+pin+molex

Second, you may need to get a 4 pin molex to 4 pin fan connector if your PSU did not come with this cable included.  Here is a link to several choices of that cable:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_34?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=4+pin+molex+to+4+pin+fan+connector&sprefix=4+pin+molex+to+4+pin+fan+connector%2Celectronics%2C167&rh=n%3A541966%2Ck%3A4+pin+molex+to+4+pin+fan+connector

I just find it very odd the fan could hurt the rig.  If anything, it's the fan that could be harmed by not having enough amperage supplied from the rig instead of the reverse.

I honestly belive your S5 only needs to be shut off for a while [Maybe after doing evening a hard reset] then turn it back on to see if it begins to hash.

Let me know how it turns out.

PS - IF someone knows the specs on how much amperage is provided by the rig for the fan(s), please let us know?

Sorry i don't know the actual stats some one told me once but  now i can't recall then but i do remeber don't go over  2 amps if he didn't keep trying to make it work , turning it off, unplug etc  then doing a hardware reset should fix it .

fans have  to be below 2 amps for the S5 these work  just fine on them i use them on my S5's http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y1HLA8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00  I have OC with two of these  fans on one S5 with no temps over 60 c so i know they work well . Sense i don't like OC i usually dont much but i run two S5 once @ 400 for two days. HW error were low enough and no temps ever went over 60 C but most of the time or all of the time i keep my S5 at 350  unless something goes a mess then il OC them just to get back on track . that's if speeds drop for no reason etc  and a reboot won't fix it. if this helps it doesn't have to be a PCEI cable most fan come with the right converter plug or molex and even  G-blade does it just plug it in using one of the Sata plugs from the PSU that has the 4 pin molex on one end all ATX psu come with that unless you buy oem, the fan all most all ways comes with the right converter plug .

with the fans I use he needs two and do it push pull which make better sense then have one and stand them up it does lower temp 3 to 4 degree or more standing them up using a box fan didn't work for me it made the S5 temps go up and work harder .

IN fact atm  all my S5 use one of these each http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y1HLA8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00 as push and one of these as pull http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00  i used to have two http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y1HLA8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00  Phillip made a post to some else about noise so i tried it and it work well for me on 4 S5 , i have 9 miner in my house atm I'm about to my limit i want ever .

last thought these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KFCRATC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 as pull  with one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Y1HLA8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00  but its little bit nosier. When I try to open the 32bit windows version of 5.2, windows deletes the bfgminer.exe. says there is a Trojan in it. Skeeyah.C!plock ...

Is there a clean version available somewhere?
