if i remember correctly on the setup menu for the miner software you have to enable scrypt.

you might have to click on manual and not guided to see this

it's under guided , manual only has two setting logs and Append JSON conf
and below that a place to put  miner settings,

I bought a miner from eBay and I am struggling to get it to work on the Raspberry Pi 2. It appears under CPUMiner, but the hash is always 0. Any other configuration doesn't get detected.

Has anyone tried this miner before? It's from lketc.com and the specs are:

Brand :   YuDianHuiXin
Model :   Litecoin Miner 8G
Type :   USB Block Erupter
Processing Speed (GH/s) :   144K/S-280K/S
Power Use (W) :   5
Compatible Currency :   Litecoin
Brand :   Unbranded
MPN :   Does not apply
UPC/EAN/ISBN :   Does not apply

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.
Ask the seller what setting to use they seem really nice if you bought it off the Russian guy his store or name is called  mastersss

or

You can try this : under Local Miner Settings

also turn on:

Quote
Miner superuser (root) it does :
Enable superuser mode (If your devices cannot get recognised please try enabling this option. The miner process will start with superuser/root rights, useful for some kind of devices.)

Make sure the pool you use is a script pool or it won't hash you will get tons of rejects mining with a miner on the wrong algorithm .

Best I can offer, i did think about buying some broads off that guy on eBay and build a 500 MH farm but at this point that would be a waste he came a long to late.
Ive never used a USB Block Erupter.

1603  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: How to Install BFG Miner on your new Raspberry Pi - A Step by Step Guide on: April 07, 2016, 09:37:29 PM
hi, I have a pi-2 and the newest bfgminer, + the pi is recognizing my usb hub, but its not
recognizing the avalon-2 sticks.

any suggestions?

i've tried many + still trying. Smiley

thank you

make sure if you compiled your own BFG  it has  --enable-avalon the readme says it is on by default but it might be wise to compile it on any way

in the bfg folder do a version check it tells, if the --enable-avalon driver is on .

Code:
sudo ./bfgminer --version or bfgminer --version or sudo bfgminer --version or sudo /bfgminer --version

if it is, do a hub check

Code:
sudo ldconfig
lsusb

lsusb should list all the hubs plugged in to that pi .

if all that checks out try in the BFG folder

Code:
cd to your bfgminer

sudo apt-get remove libblkmaker-0.1-dev
sudo apt-get purge libblkmaker-0.1-dev
sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-gnutls-dev libjansson-dev uthash-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libevent-dev libgcrypt20-dev

sudo ./autogen.sh -rpath-link
sudo chmod +x ./configure
sudo ./configure CFLAGS="-O2" --enable-avalon --enable-broad-udevrules
make
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig
then try the miner .

beyond that

check power to hub , does the pi really support it, Ive had a few hubs not work with RPI and BFG but do with other PI type PC'c even after i did a hub check .

Yes that thanks! Do you have profitability panel enabled? Try to disable it (from settings page).

That was it thanks!

Now I remember the profitability panel stopped working a few months ago.
Thought it was a nice feature. Do you know why it is not working now?

Yes I know, unfortunately Cryptsy https://www.cryptsy.com/ closed down as you probably know and I was getting market data from there so that was the issue.

Now I changed at my side the way to calculate profit (I get data from blockr.io now, hope it doesn't close...) but I made a mistake I just fixed (I think).

Can you try to re-enable the profitability panel?

Unfortunately the new way hasn't a lot of coins so I've chosen to display only BTC, LTC and MEC (If I remember well).

This one isn't to bad if it's helps any

seems pretty stable.

for any one interested shipping will be close to 100 bucks , i just bought one off some one else with free shipping his shipping cost was 70 in the US by US mail and it took two weeks to get by ground US mail, US ground is very slow for heavy packages . ups will be closer to a 100 or more in The US , just a tip.  but these are worth it if they are flashed with the right firmware etc ...

Sorry Man been looking can't find one any were . nice psu thu and temping to buy .

even the used one is temping and hope some one dev a board for it.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Power-Supply-750W-80-PLUS-PLATINUM-D750E-S1-For-R720XD-R820-/322062453060?hash=item4afc6b0944:g:egcAAOSwGOxXAbKt

Maybe optms verison of this one will  http://holybitcoin.com/product/hp-1200-watt-common-slot-psu-bundle/

when he releases his version, I wouldn't count on it thu will be nice if it does but that being a hp and the one you linked is dell unless one is the other but oem then  it might work.

J4bber  boards only work on the PSU there sold for sadly but if you want a try it ill give you one free but it's not even worth it to me to send shipping free sorry but it's your free nothing owed  if you want it for testing pay shipping .

i have one laying a round with some brown PCEi slots, I won't use again.

unless they pulled a fast one on us again !!!

I'm willing to bet it was the earthquake .

I renumber one time a few years back were earthquake or floods in one other place in the world caused prices for months on memory and HD's for PC's to shoot thu the roof till they got back on track .

so that might just be why . we may not see a thing for 2 or 3 month now Sad. or i like to think that's the real reason .

Don't use zadig you want this for bfgminer

https://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/Pages/USBtoUARTBridgeVCPDrivers.aspx

zadig

is for cgminer won't work with bfgminer

.zadig  should just uninstall thu device manger under the usb section in windows or in control panel with add and remove Programs depends on your version of windows it's been renamed over the years but all most the same name.

uninstall zadig first or you might have issue you don't want that might lead to a clean install of windows.

thanks Mich a maintenance release is much needed and sometimes a blessing over a feature release.
1611  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitcoin Mining Software for Windows on: April 02, 2016, 02:59:52 AM
Mine faster not gonna happen unless you have the hash power in fact the new hard ware miners  will get slower as the Difficulty Factor increases so that means you will need faster hardware over time the old ones will get slower and make less.

Software really has nothing to do with how fast they mine unless it is poorly written for the hardware it is written for . tweaking the software makes it run better, use resources better, which in turn might appear to make it faster but not mine faster or faster, you can only go as fast as the hard ware allows.  so that said : there is no such software yet Smiley. you need fast hard ware for the software to do it's job right .

forgot don't be alarmed even if your fast hard ware seems slow, it's never fast enough.

This may be the wrong place to post this but don't feel bad they put it in the right place if it is moved.

hey luke whats this mean it sees the S3 now but stops it

bitmain_detect_one stop bitmain_initialize -1  I  did a search online and came empty or nothing found
There should be a line above that one with a more detailed error?

nope but it's cool it was all blank i looked for one , it's late and  I'm done for now getting tried .
Did you run in text mode to prevent blanking? -T

thanks didn't know about it, I'll  try later on right now i need a break from it, but will get back to it, it seems more want it now.

@ LPape  bfg does both script and SHa256 or bitcoins, that's what makes it cooler then CGminer to me, Cgminer used to do both but we won't go there that's  a sore subject that gonna stop here.

by default sha256 is on in BFG,  when you compile it if you want to use the Script part you have to enable it with --enable-scrypt

my programming skills are not that great either but i figure out what i need to when i have to .

silverfish 28mhs and an a2-terminator  in order to do that as far  as i know you import there drivers into BFG don't ask me how to , no idea other then what i read, once i know more im gonna try one day .

just found two new openwrt antminer s3 bin  on openwrt download page , and of course they won't flash because bitmain locked the bin so it won't but that's not a issue just use telnet to flash it . and i know i  may  brick the controller .that said wtf why not Smiley.

https://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/ar71xx/generic/

openwrt-ar71xx-generic-antminer-s3-squashfs-factory

openwrt-ar71xx-generic-antminer-s3-squashfs-sysupgrade

I flashed a locked TLink router about a month ago and did it from there normal locked firmware to open wrt then messed the router up tying other stuff but the flash worked i had my A4 mining on it for a while till i got brave wanted to try some thing else.

Um yeah I dunno if I'd do that.
You are probably going to have to cross compile bfgminer for openwrt with the bitmain driver enabled. There is a really good how to on the openwrt site. The git for bfgminer has a special makefile for openwrt.

You can also try to use the repo on the front page. Even tho it's not for barier breaker it might work.
'
a while back unless he never did it it was suppose to be enabled . and why not just wondering i trust your thoughts on why you know that or i wouldn't ask Smiley".I know it will polly brick it but i have one of the custom made s3 controller not the one that comes with the upgrade kit or ant 3 in a box .;

you have to find it on your router and you go to a web page that just is a form of cgminer

I got a device to show but not hash

With SSH i assume ? . use screen but the S3 does not have screen on it like the S2/4 c1 s5 i think S7 . it's a bitch to get working right on a S3 i think i had screen on it once after i figured out what openwrt PKG i needed

@aarons6

you can start it that way in all most any windows version 7 and up . but have to use a ssh window is how he did, I'm guessing .

Those setting i got out of the pdf for that chip

and that is my issue to it works but won't hash or see the S1/3  . and the drivers are loaded i checked with the cat command .
