minera, is about the best one to use for all most any miner .

just showing options. it he has no pi or is only running windows. or wants to see it on a windows/linux PC without using a browser. Smiley .
1542  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.4.2: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer S1-S5, solo stratum on: April 22, 2016, 04:00:18 PM
Code:
bfgminer --scrypt -S all -o stratum+tcp://pool1:port -u worker -p password -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=835

Code:
-S noauto
may be off so it's not needed

 try this
Code:
/#xnsub
after port like this
Code:
stratum+tcp://pool1:port/#xnsub

most script pools run more sable with that command/argument if the pool your using doesn't support it it won't hash or bfg might give some kind error, just remove that command/argument.

Unexpect extra commandline argument is :

a command error in the command line , or  some thing is there that's doesn't belong .

Make sure its one space between each command that is spaced . space it to far BFG thinks it's a bad argument
which can be to big a space between each commandline argument that needs a space, wrong command or BFG doesn't use that argument or it's off .

the way to check the space is put your cursor in between each argument on the left of that argument that has a space hit your del key what that  should do if its spaced right is make it one big word between that argument and the next one, hit the space bar it should put it back to the right space it was. some times it can be two spaces out if it's two spaces out it spaced it to the right space and moves it one space . Smiley.

Ive found that's the best way to check that problem and all most all ways is the problem if you get that error in BFG .

Sorry i don't talk to much in tech terms i try to keep things as simple as possibly for every one and I'm not talking down to you or trying to if i come across that way.

put the probe inside one becare full how you do it but they work well , some one else on the forums linked it to me.

to over clock it watch the hard ware errors and rejects if they go up to fast and no shares then it's pretty much at it limits try to keep the hard errors below 5 % total after id say 2 to 3 hours it should stay about there even when the hard ware errors  increase over time, they are kind of not errors as far as your miner is bad it's not as long as they stay low . but the best hwe % to shot for is 1 % or less ive done it.

you can mod those things to it's called volt modding I think you would have to look it up.

you can over clock that miner up to 850 or a little bit higher but watch the hard ware errors and rejects if they go up to fast or your rejects over ride yours shares clock it down till the error rejects level out and your shares should exceed the rejects a lot . and run some kind heat detector so you don't burn it up. a fish tank temp thing should do it or a grill temperature thing should do it.I forget what temperature to watch, to try and keep them at .

it's been a long while sense i owned one of the one blade ones .

wish i could give more info on those little guys there tough miners etc .

rpi you only really need one but two is good if that's what you want to do , once there both plugged into the same usb port/hub or rpi  one setting should pic them both up and adjust both to that setting.

Hope this helps !!! .
1545  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What was your worst Cryptocurrency investment ? on: April 21, 2016, 06:43:00 AM
a Alcheminer 256 I  bought with a bad controller i have it working half ass now with a PI but need a better guide on how to then what i found so i can run it just off a PI with all the Blades so far all the blades seems ok .  just need either the controller fixed or a new one or a more refined guide on how to off a PI, I 'm not that great writing code but do understand it and how to read how to's Smiley .so i keep looking and hope some one posts a nice one one day .

@ QuintLeo

I wish i had bought a A 2 now over the Alcheminer 256  at least the A2 I could have bought all the parts worked for the same price i paid for the 256  greed got the best of me on that deal i was greedily i wanted the extra speed . so i basically screwed my self and that was the worst thing I bought so far or did unless i get it working right one day .
1546  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.4.2: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, Antminer S1-S5, solo stratum on: April 21, 2016, 06:22:25 AM
which one is it

this one
 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gridseed-G-Blade-USB-ASIC-Scrypt-Miner-LTC-Doge-5-2-6MH-S-/141966230738?hash=item210dd8c4d2:g:xMYAAOSwIUNXFpGO

or this one

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GridSeed-23-25MH-S-SCRYPT-ASIC-MINER-300-450W-/182092905047?hash=item2a65953a57:g:mY8AAOSw9uFW8p0X

if the bottom it should run nicly and cool at 800 around 25 to 27 MH total speed about what it would it do at 825 but with less heat less power usages and less hardware errors or seems to for me , at 825  i think it will do 30 MH total or has for me but the hard errors went up  etc i can run it there but don't like what i saw .

if it's the top one you can run it at 825 to 835 with out any issue or should be able i only owned one of the top ones sold it off when i was able to buy the 25 MH one kind of why is I said  it's the 25 MH one or G-blade black  25 MH they do run better at 80O or seem to with BFG controlling them  . uping the speed to me was senseless for maybe three more MH at max hash and deal with other stuff you won't get at 800 .

it should run sable at 800 with total of 25 to 27 MH with very few hard errrors and rejects and use about 450 to 500 watts at the wall or less it depends on the PSU with those . per blade sense there is 5 full blades 10 total boards two boards per full blade per miner each hash board should run at 2.7 mh or so with out issue . BFG will show each board as numbers 0 thu 9 .

hope that helps

as for the one blade ones i don't really know to much about them i had one for month or so one time sold it once i was able to buy the faster one.
1547  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: April 21, 2016, 05:41:03 AM
Ok,I had been mining BTC since June 2011,I used the BTC to buy PC parts at Newegg,I cashed out some from time to time for cash,I bought gold for my games,etc.....

Now that mining BTC at home will not earn a decent amount because of the corporate miners driving the diff up sky high,I need to find another way to earn BTC.

I do not buy BTC from exchanges,I have no bank account(fees are too high),buying from localbitcoins is too expensive (overpriced BTC).

My feeling is that BTC was for us the people to mine & use,not to be taken over by buissness's to get rich, that's the only reason they do it  Roll Eyes

I still believe in the concept of BTC,no banks, small fees, able to be used by anybody (no single entity in control),anywhere (as long as you have internet access),anytime.

But it isn't lookin good, pretty soon ONLY the corp miners will be mining ALL the BTC,you think that is good?? I don't & there is nothing we can do about it................ Sad

I always thought BTC were meant for us all so when some one tries to tell im not entitled to them for this or that reason like dog did in that other post i back off or try to because that will only led to me being kicked off the forums Ive been kick off forums because of some comments that were uncalled for etc not here yet . which i  hope never happens these forums are actually pretty cool to me .

I do have bank account i have to have one but don't like buying BTC either would rather mine my own for fun and I can do it and in my own home . what's so wrong with that nothing . yea Ive bought a few things  i normally couldn't have bought other wise due to mining.
1548  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Dual-purpose DPS800/DPS1200 breakout board on: April 21, 2016, 05:15:44 AM
Also illegal. Course sometimes the plug is wired in by an amateur electrician slash professional jackass. House I was in a couple years ago had the dryer plug wired with one hot leg hooked to case ground.

But yeah, inside the PSU the case should be ground or isolated.

we do that now with the dryer plug and our external gen if the power goes out i had a plug made by a friend who works with a heating company a while back so we can power our house if the power goes out just plug it into the dryer plug when the power does just make sure to turn the main breaker off first and hot water heater breaker or the drain will shut down the gen or even mess it up or it may not even power up. we have our house powered during a power out age with out spending 10 k for a GEN for the cost of a plug and 1 k for good gas gen from home depot with water heat and air tv internet etc just no heated water . we keep gas on hand encase.

and yea our state doesn't like that idea but we don't like having power off for days either sometimes so f  them . how i feel were careful doing it .
1549  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cant get into s5 on: April 21, 2016, 04:06:58 AM
Thats what i was afraid of if i do a factory reset. Then i wont be able to access it at all and may not mine at all. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem. Thanks

after a factory resete  use this

http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/index2.php?utm_expid=62919999-37.9-pL9-aBTpGQQqARa3mUoA.2&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com

to find the IP of the miner because  reset sets it to DHCP which will auto the IP address of that the miner and it will stop mining on your pool because it's on defaults which is set to bitmains pools or setting,  it should say some thing like Texas instruments when you run it for the S5 right click that and copy the IP from the list then go to your browner and right click on the HTTP bar then paste that it should set you in the s5/miners GUI after the reset. or do a search to see what the IP of the miner is now it sounds like you can't access it because your not putting in the right IP ? .

The other problem you might be having is two miners are on the same or sharing the same IP which some times might seem like they are both mining but Polly are not Sad. that's why do a factory reset it gives that miner it's own IP address then use some kind of  IP scanner to find that miners IP.

or take all your other miners off line  and only run that one on your network then try to access it with that IP.

Then if that works i would set  to it to it's own static IP under the network tab and do that on each miner it helps if there on DHCP change them all to there own static ip  no guessing or mess up.  just remember what miner used what IP and don't share them again or your back were you were if that's the problem. i would Use IP's over 200 something like this

192.168.1.200
192.168.1.201

on bitmian site there is a IP searcher i don't care much for it never seems to work right for me so i use the one linked above.

Alright, I finally got those gridseed blades miner!

For now I'll dealing with Windows and later the raspberry aspect!

Windows:
A member gave me to the following code:

Code:
bfgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool1:port -u worker -p password -S noauto -S gridseed:all --set-device gridseed:clock=835

I see two setting on -S
If I set -S gridseed:all, would it prevent detect device by leaving -S noauto in?
About clock setting, I read it more stable to set at 800! Correct?

Assume I want to overclock device, is this good?
Apparently bfgminer has a overclock buil in including fan control!
Will be great to know those settings to be added as well!
I understand there may some risk involved!

I read it more stable to set at 800! Correct?

yes : if your using a G -blade black 25 MH miner less hard ware errors etc you get about the same speeds with less stress on the miner and over heating setting it to 800 or mine seems to run better .

as for
Code:
-S noauto
i never use it anymore or it's even needed if that whats turned off open gl or stopped your video card from mining with windows , openGL is off now by default in BFG . .

to see Don't use it if your video card starts mining it's still on . mind don't start up any more sense bfg 5.0 i think it was if I happen to be using windows.

Once you change over to PI type PC's you'll love it  .
1551  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Dual-purpose DPS800/DPS1200 breakout board on: April 20, 2016, 11:52:33 PM
more to protect the bear parts that can touch stuff that can short out
As I understand it, the only parts that have short out potential are the pins on the bottom of the breakout board; nothing on the external of the psu itself should be conducting electricity.  Would be a pretty crummy psu design if you could electrocute yourself by touching the outside of it while it was running.

that's exactly what i mean or referring to the bottom of the bob, other then that nothing else is ever a problem. unless i need something in one place for a while and not be able to move it, there really good for that to.
1552  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: So just how hard is it to get BitMain to fix warrenty repair? on: April 20, 2016, 11:28:14 PM
if stuff was under warranty from them it was never hard to get any thing replaced or fixed by them, for me , it was when it wasn't under warranty the problems started they would give me a price a few days later i go to do it they would not honor it or any prices they gave me in fact would mark it so high i would tell them forget it. There excuse was prices go up . I'm used to prices being honored for 30 days at least not one day. or being told that was the price that day that day etc etc ..but that was also when they had a repair center in the US which was a bitch to keep open with US laws I guess if it's not open any more. it may still be there can't say the last thing i ever bought from them was 1 S5, i felt cheated with the S7 so i never bought one .
1553  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Dual-purpose DPS800/DPS1200 breakout board on: April 20, 2016, 11:13:13 PM
I use the tape i linked more to protect the bear parts that can touch stuff that can short out and possibility damage the miners or BOB i use a wood shelf but also use a metal rack of which i will Polly never post pictures it's all aug looking how i do it, some stuff sets on the basement floor, wires every were but in a order i know etc nothing new or different to show anyone or really impressive.

maybe the law changed i have never been charged sales buying imports maybe import taxes , i know i read some place they were trying to change that what state Arkansas sales tax some thing doesn't seem right but dealing with custom is a pain any way if the seller and or shipper mess up the order on the paper work then you eat it .according to that he bought it in Arkansas but if he bought it form bitmain direct  hows that poss it was a import right  ? . like i said the US was tiring to change that maybe they did for 2016 he being hit for it now i never really understood some of the stuff customs seems to do and try my best to not order out of the US .

it does say

Please provide a description of the items purchased, and any sales tax exemption that you think might be applicable. If the items purchased are not exempt, Arkansas Compensating Use Tax is due on the purchase.

Ive heard some bad story's about packages being marked wrong for custom even below 2500 .  SO GL i hope he fixes it .

Your right each state in the US has it's own sells tax unlike other places in the World.  guess hes luckly it wasn't one of them with a 8 % st

was trying to offer some possibility , i know that feeling of getting those kind of letters and you thought you had it all covered .

Most stories are coded wrong, and can be fixed after with carrier.   If he has to pay that is bad luck or bad error.   I can say I have not ordered to AR though.   But I would contact the company you shipped with as they likely are ones to report this.    Ask what it is coded as and check around board what others had in similar incidents.  As most I think got recoded and paid much less if any.

Only one I have had to pay was Bitmain shipped a PSU with a weight lower then actual weight.  I was charged the difference in price of shipping for a more heavy item.. which I found to be fair.

I also am curious on what carrier he used.  Please add more to story OP.

I got a feeling that was FedEx they are none for pulling stuff  like that so he may end up paying it if was them sadly there asses and will lie to you ..that's a lot of cash they won't eat if it can't fixed other wise.

MY 1200 psu's on start up spin up high fan wise have been that way sense i bought them then give it 2 mins you never hear them again. they just run for ever with no other kind of cooling other then what they come with mine were all bought according to the seller oem brand new even looked new with one year warranty and keeping then out in the open is all the cooling they seem to need, like others do.

I bought one of these boards can't wait for it to get here but can no real rush.

cool kind of why i said try it's becoming the standard for RPI 2 and 3 is now or heading into the Ubuntu area but it only works on RPI 2 and 3 or higher unless you want to do it your self which from what i see might a be a real pain to do .

but if your fine with how it is go for it . that was just a tip i discovered one day by mistake I was having issue even with RASPBIAN JESSIE and try to Use Ubuntu server version now don't care much for the desktop version and yes also use windows 10 on my PCs and not ten for PI's don't care much for it  Smiley .the server version is pretty basic there is two version of it one is watered down even more etc .

U 16 is due out tomorrow so I'll  be redoing all my PI types im able to install it on just for the fun of doing it .
1558  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury: "16nm... sales to public start shortly" on: April 20, 2016, 02:32:41 PM
Corporations care NOTHING about anything except profit...patriotism,family,morals,religion,etc mean nothing.Profit IS god to them at ANY cost Roll Eyes

true that look at what Verizon has made this year a lone 39 billion all they want to do is out source to another country so they make more money and destroy  our way living in the US and the sad part they are American to so yea they only care about one thing that is how much they can get,I mine for cash were all greedie to some extent if want some thing that's a form of greed, i won't lie but i also won't destroy the family or do immoral things like they do either , Ive seen what that kind of greed does . i want nice things etc who doesn't .but i don't want it to point it sell out on the mortals and value that make us care . unlike the CEO of Verizon and other big Crops around the world who if they really cared could help those who really need it with food cloth etc .but what they donate most of the time is so they can get more.

Bitcoin IS corp controlled,I have already left BTC mining.I put my GPU's back to work already & am exploring the altcoin world once again  Cool
Ive been GPU mining also and not afraid to admit it i like btc mining but .

1000 gh in BTC miners = $1.24 per day ATM,then minus electricity (the difficulty will continue to rise)..........I'm doing MUCH better with my GPU's  Cheesy

me to what little i do make with my 3 th i have left i invest back into bitcoins ( which btw those miners have done roi ) . some how and kind of make more from it, my power cost is about to go lower in a few months with solar being installed how much lower remains to seen, they told me I'll be using solar about 55 % more over what i use form the power company and that maybe higher. Ill see either way solar is looking good the closer and sooner it is installed.

BTW,the ONLY BTC miner I would even think of buying is the one sidehack makes...if he can ever get chips, that ain't lookin good though  Sad

me to . i haven't bought one miner other then  c1 and A4.1 and Alcheminer 256 which i might resell because the 256 still can be sold for a lot or very high price only bought those because i enjoy messing around with them and all ways wanted one of each and got them at a really nice price.

GPU mining is not to bad right now if the some of older out dated script miners did not cost so much i would buy a few of those 42 coins and few others actually sell good still . i may buy a few more used 290 or even a few 7800 series cheap then use them till they stop .

on Bittrex Eth are selling for 0.01981900 BTC last nite it went up to 0.02 something and is holding pretty good you need like 300 MH worth of cards that's like 12 to 14 cards to make any head way but those cards are dirt cheap even new .

Just wish and hope side does get chips I'm saving coins for it . would rather mine BTC direct .

well see thu .

HM some one at bitmain may have screwed up or did you use FEDEX which is a bad  idea . you may end up paying more then you save using FEDEX from Past buys with them and buying direct from Bitmain. Then they ( FEDEX ) lied to me over the phone about why, told me i wouldn't be charge they took care of it i got charged any way . i had to pay it or they would have messed up my credit . That sounds like one of two things either bitmain marked it wrong if you did pay the import tax or you used FedEx if neither then maybe be the laws changed sense i last bought form them other wise can't say customs is a pain any way.
