2321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why You Should Not Attend The Miami Bitcoin Conference on: January 02, 2015, 05:18:18 PM
I know an even better reason I immediately spotted in the article of why you shouldn't attend that conference

Quote
The current price for a ticket is $150 and you can buy it from http://btcmiami.com/

I could probably host a conference on skype with several well known Bitcointalk forum members here for free and record it and you'd all probably learn more than going to that fucking thing for that much money.
2322  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Scotland Is Looking to Imprison People for Offensive Tweets on: January 02, 2015, 05:14:22 PM
It isn't anything new no, but we haven't seen a lot of legislation against it yet, they're trying to make moves so they can do blanket surveillance on us.

She has also been reported to the police for “hate crimes” against overweight people after making rude remarks about the overweight.

Wait, so overweight people are a 'race' now and need protection? This is getting beyond stupid, look, if people are writing shit about you, don't read it, it's that simple, if they're harassing you directly and not leaving you alone, THEN you can do something about it, it's almost frightening that people out there don't understand what free speech actually means, it would be frightening, if it weren't the fact that people like this would be too stupid and incompetent to get these laws passed an enforced in the first place.

I'm not one of those assholes who will deliberately go out of their way to make fun of people who are fat and whatnot, but if they're in denial and complain about not being able to walk up the stairs and various health problems that revolve around being fat I'm going to say it to their faces.
2324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did pools scare Satoshi away? on: January 02, 2015, 12:43:02 PM
As people have already said, it was probably Gavin's involvement with the CIA that was the final straw, he warned people many times about other things, openly so, but the CIA thing is clearly what made him most wary, he's clearly someone who knows just how heavily protective governments are of their monopoly over currency.
2325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Anti-Virus Program to use? For Bitcoin security? on: January 02, 2015, 11:40:53 AM
I hear people often mention malwarebytes which seems like a reasonable piece of software, a lot less spyware like than most and they have a free version.

2326  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where can I buy a computer with no TX card in 2014?????? on: January 02, 2015, 11:38:57 AM
You could maybe try places that do custom laptops and specifically ask for no wi-fi though there aren't many around there are specialists that will do that sort of thing, I totally understand why you'd be wary of wi-fi connections to a laptop especially if you want to keep it all completely offline.
2327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Middle East could destroy Bitcoin (if it wanted to) on: January 02, 2015, 10:51:53 AM
It's extremely funny when people make trash talk posts and comments like this, it's the equivalent of someone picking a fight with you claiming how they could beat the shit out of you if they wanted to and you should watch out but of course, it never happens because they're full of shit. Don't bother making crappy posts like this if you haven't even got a real plan to do it you pussy, I don't really need to add much else to this thread because people have already pointed out how poorly you've thought about this.

It's like saying America or China could easily shut down Bitcoin, what are they going to do? Arrest us all? Shut down the internet? There would be a global wide revolution within a week if they tried something like that and they know it, this is just posturing and nothing more. What I personally would really like to see is an organised 51% attack to demonstrate whether this sort of thing is really possible on the cryptocurrency networks, but yet again the people constantly ranting about this sort of thing never fail to cause me disappointment.

Using oil to attack Bitcoin would not only cripple their own infrastructure which is already in terrible condition in most middle eastern countries because of all the bombing it would also simply raise the Bitcoin price to ridiculous levels causing all of us to profit. Oh and that's not even taking into account the political ramifications of pissing away the countries oil on something so pointless when the current middle eastern powers have very few friends as it is.
2328  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there any examples of unsuccessful college dropouts? on: January 02, 2015, 09:56:50 AM
Yep, pretty much, what the successful ones do demonstrate though is how wrong the stereotype could be, you can also have cases of college dropouts who while didn't become hugely successful did actually end up doing shit with their lives because they had a skillset that was in demand and so on. Probably comes from the economics I study but I honestly believe that skillsets are much more important than a degree, you can't advance civilisation with a piece of paper.

I will say though I think I read somewhere that a higher percentage of CEO's etc. were school/college dropouts which kind of blows away the idea that it's an absolute must you need to go to college/school to be successful.
2329  Other / Meta / Re: Why is my new account blocked again? I did not do anything! on: January 01, 2015, 06:17:02 PM
I've received various irritating PM's from total strangers before which range from vaguely hostile ( Usually from people whom I managed to touch a nerve from being right about something ) to aggressive begging to annoying advertising spam, none of which I am interested in and would count as harassment in some cases. So acting indignant at being banned for something like this is just a piss take, nice to see mods are taking action on real issues and not just acting as someones' personal stormtroopers.

If you've learned your lesson then fine, but if you're creating accounts just so you can continue your bullshit you can fuck off.
2330  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Collapse Headed for U.S. in 2015??? on: January 01, 2015, 04:56:28 PM
The reason stock prices are so high and everything looks good right now is purely because of hyperinflation which is the amount of money that the central banks are pumping into the economy, they're keeping things going over Christmas and new years and then eventually all of it is going to collapse in on itself with the politicians and bankers playing completely innocent about it and not understanding what's going on.

I've been predicting a crash for the first quarter of 2015 for awhile now just because of how high things all are right now and also everything is starting to look at the exact level it was at the 2008 - 2009 crash, the idea that you can have such a massive crash and then have everything go this high again as if it's 'normal' is ridiculous. The good news is for us at least, the more people who are in denial about this the more money there is to be made.
2331  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-01-01] CD: Missing Mt Gox Bitcoins Likely an Inside Job, on: January 01, 2015, 01:07:16 PM
The news is popping up all over the place, I reckon that Mark Karpeles has likely created a scapegoat using his insider knowledge of the system, shame the Japanese police haven't gone and asked anyone on the bitcointalk forum to go and take a look at his servers. Oh and no, I don't believe the fucker is innocent one bit, of course there needs to be a proper investigation but I'm convinced either he got someone else to do his dirty work or manipualated data to make it look like it was someone else.

There was always something very wrong with the way MT.GOX operated.
2332  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-12-31] - Fraud causes disappearance of 99% of Mt. Gox bitcoins on: January 01, 2015, 12:49:38 PM
Aha, so he finally found a scapegoat, that's why he was looking so calm and smug on camera.
2333  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why do all tv cartoon characters have glow in the dark eyes? on: December 31, 2014, 02:52:59 PM
It depends, usually it's for effect or other times it's because you won't have anything to look at if it's pitch black, this is why all cartoons tend to have 'darkness' as dark blue or have very contrasted light if they're in dungeons and stuff like that.

If you forced me to pick I would pick pizza but I don't mind either one at all.
2335  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sony Pictures Pulls “The Interview” From Theaters on: December 30, 2014, 03:44:50 PM

lol Cheesy I'm not saying all Americans are like that but you have a lot of them standing up on television and acting like that, not to mention the morons that vote them in and yes, I know about your politics Tongue It is funny getting you guys riled up about it though, maybe you should be doing more to actively kick those assholes out of government if you don't want people thinking that way about America.

There is nothing more I would rather do in my whole life.  Unfortunately, it is pretty much impossible to do that, with the way we have our elections, it is basically, who has the most money wins.  It is simply a popularity contest, and it looks like it will be run that way for quite sometime.

If you call my whole country a bunch of racist sexist morons, how do you not expect me to get riled up?  I may not like everything about my country, but I am very glad to live here and very proud, and I will of course get defensive if you talk bad about it.

I wouldn't get defensive if you said the same about the UK, because there are a lot of pricks here, that said, I get where you're coming from, I think our system is almost worse in a way for the 'democracy' we have because our elections happen every 5 years! Oh and of course we have no legal options of booting out a party we're particularly displeased with.

2337  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sony Pictures Pulls “The Interview” From Theaters on: December 30, 2014, 03:18:19 PM

Yeah yeah, I'm sure that's what you'll all say in public.

Wow, its time to leave the 20th century man, very few people are homophobic nowadays.  As I type this I am just about to go to lunch with a gay friend of mine.  Just because you read somewhere from a blog that all Americans are pigs and racist and sexist and can't tolerate anything different from them doesn't make it true.  Grow up.

lol Cheesy I'm not saying all Americans are like that but you have a lot of them standing up on television and acting like that, not to mention the morons that vote them in and yes, I know about your politics Tongue It is funny getting you guys riled up about it though, maybe you should be doing more to actively kick those assholes out of government if you don't want people thinking that way about America.
2338  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sony Pictures Pulls “The Interview” From Theaters on: December 30, 2014, 01:47:47 PM
Starting to see a pattern here in what people like and dislike, I take it you guys complaining about the man-love jokes are Americans? Tongue

I am an American yes, I see what you are trying to say, but I don't think any of us are making that point at all.  I am assuming you think we don't like watching gay jokes, as we are uncomfortable with our sexuality.

That has nothing to do with it for me, or from what I read about anyone else.  It was simply overdone, In comedies, what is funny at first isn't funny after the 50th time anymore.  Just my opinion.

Yeah yeah, I'm sure that's what you'll all say in public.
2339  Other / Off-topic / Re: did neil armstrong really went to moon? on: December 30, 2014, 10:41:51 AM
That's maybe what you numpties think is stupid, I personally view someone who ignores scientific, historical and mathematical fact as somebody who is stupid, because to be able to ignore all of that and be proud if it you really do have to be stupid.

Nobody here ignores scientific, historic or math facts, and yet you call us stupid.
A person is entitled to their beliefs. What may seem stupid for one person, might not be for another person.

Definition of a stupid person, IIRC, is someone with low IQ. Yet in this world, trying to survive, would you call a (stereotypical) rural farmer stupid? Someone who can survive on their own, someone who can create fire?
Actually someone who has the same access to knowledge/information as me but ignores facts (just like Lethn said).
I'd put stupid and ignorant into the same basket if you ask me.

There is a difference in: having different beliefs and having a wrong beliefs.
What would you consider a person who's only interests are: (typical example of the new generation) Facebook, Instagram, Retrica, eat, get drunk, sleep --> repeat.. if not stupid, then smart?  Cheesy

I've seen people on this forum ingore scientific or historical fact on a regular basis, even outright deny it, a lot of them end up on my ignore list because there's no point in even associating with people like that since they don't pay any attention to logic. Let me put it this way, it's the equivalent of if there was some kind of heavy object hurtling towards you about to hit you and then you claiming that because you say so it isn't going to harm you in any way, more often than not they will likely claim God will protect them and of course if someone went and stopped the object from hitting them in the face rather than thanking the person they'll go and claim it as a confirmation of their belief.

People in particular who ignore the laws of physics in particular are going to end up proving Darwinism to everyone around them one day.
