The price is all over the place at the moment.  A mix of disappointment about BTC38 and looking forward to Max Keiser!

Didn't it just get delayed ?
Yeah, but it was expected that it would go on today, whereas now we have a to wait.  It'll end up on more exchanges, it's just a matter of time.

I'm amazed by the amount of obviously coordinated FUD and shitstorm campaigns.
Gotta love such cheap coins :0

I have suggested a few small changes.  Sorry if I am being picky, but I assume that is what you are after.  I am not very happy with the "in a similar fashion to" part.  It doesn't sound right, but then I can't think of an improvement either.

Quote
Bitcoin is the first decentralized monetary system, which is hosted on the web by regular people.

Quote
Bitcoin removes the need to use third parties, like banks or credit card companies, in monetary transactions. That means not only cheaper and faster payments, but also more financial freedom as governments or banks can’t freeze the funds of citizens for political or other reasons.

Quote
The amount number of bitcoins has been limited from the beginning so that there can never be more than 21 million bitcoins
Quote
Bitcoin has indeed been possibly the greatest best investment of the year because it’s value has gone up thousands of percents

Quote
Thus it encourages cutting unnecessary consumption and saving money, instead of taking large amounts of debt, because in deflation the value of saved money is growing unlike in inflation.

How about: Deflation constantly increases the value of money, thus discouraging unnecessary consumption and the taking on of debt, whilst encouraging saving.

Quote
Although it’s worth mentioning that mining has become more and more computationally intensive because of the huge growth in miners and improvements in their hardware.
I would remove "although" at the start unless you have a contra point to end the sentence.

Quote
Many people believe that bitcoin is about to disrupt the monetary system in a similar fashion that to how email changed the way we can communicate. It’s a technological masterpiece and a demonstration of how smart technology can solve even problems that once looked appeared impossible to solve.

Quote
You shouldn’t simply believe this video though, because that wouldn’t be smart. Read more about bitcoin in Wikipedia and other sources and study the system carefully yourself. Many people that have started out skeptical have been surprised on by how brilliant the bitcoin system is.

Quote
Bitcoin is more than just a superb way of transferring money and storing value

Check out the NeoBee thread in securities.  Cyprus will have a bitcoin bank in the next few months, if it is sucessfull then expect lots more soon.
2345  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How are you preparing for an Economic Collapse/Great Depression 2.0? on: December 14, 2013, 11:40:35 AM
That moringa thing, could you realistically grow it on a 30 feet boat? Been wondering about self-sustainability out to sea, got everything except food (theoretically) covered.
I've heard that there are plenty of fish in the sea...
Certainly, but I'm a lousy fisherman and I don't wanna have to gut fish every day.
I can't imagine any event(s) that would force me to go to the ocean.  Unless it was to get to the other side.
Waterworld!  More seriously, I agree, some water filtration might be required but I live in Northern Europe, a rain collection device would be more than enough.
If things got so bad that people take to the sea, I would probably question if it is worth trying to go on.

Hi

To respond to some of these claims:

Quote
I pushed for an audit of the blockchain (http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/368/auditing-block-chain), and what we've found (http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/568/quark-faqs-compiling-fact-sheet) is incredibly disheartening.

The fact is the distribution of Quark similar to Litecoin, Namecoin and Peercoin:

http://forum.qrk.cc/thread/681/top-100-wallet-concentration

Quote
A few people mined 95% of all quarks in a very short period of time.

Quark was announced on Bitcointalk where probably tens of thousands of users had the opportunity to mine from the very first block.

There was no "pre-mine".

This is not true for a lot of other alt-coins.

The period of mining is similar to Infinitecoin, Extremecoin and numerous other altcoins.

Quote
The code had not been touched in 5 months. No infrastructure. No nothing.

Untrue. Regular checkpoints were added and bug fixes were done.

https://github.com/MaxGuevara/quark/commits/master/src

In terms of infrastructure. Seed nodes were provided, Quark was sucessfully submitted to coinpayments.net, etc.

Quote
Kolin Evans was never a "Quark Developer" (as he claimed to be in the Bill Still interview). That was a lie - Quark "enthusiast" would have been a more appropriate title.

Kolin is a Quark enthusiast.

Quote
Max, originator, has no interest in Quark leadership or development - would rather relegate such to the community to decide on a consensus basis.

I still stand by Quark belonging to its community.

Regards
Max

I wish that Max was the mouth of Quark as well as the developer.  A nice, cool, calm answer to all the points made.  You didn't put anyone down, no holier than thou BS.  Good work.
2347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 13, 2013, 12:08:54 PM
Lol, no. It's just so annoying that they didn't bought anything yet. The whole world is waiting on those yellow fuckers and they keep disappointing us.
I'm very angry atm.

And no, i didn't put more in it than i can afford  Grin

Why exactly would we be 'waiting' for them, and how can *they* disappoint you? Maybe you anticipated it, or maybe you hoped it. Thats all.

Don't think short-term with cryptocurrencies, that'll just get you disappointed all the time. I bought QRK for the long run, not just to get a quick profit in a few days.
It's pretty hard not to think short term when we are talking about something created in the last 6 months that has risen 700fold in the last month and has some very major news/events in the next week!
2348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CPU coin mining on: December 13, 2013, 08:36:28 AM
Sameev, do some research for yourself!
You don't need to post a new topic everytime you have a small query.

Faster CPUs mine more quickly, that is about all you need to know.  Mining on 1 computer will not make huge returns, but can be profitable.
2349  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin beyond 21 millon BTC has been mined. on: December 13, 2013, 08:15:53 AM
Either bitcoin will be so heavily traded that the transaction fees will justify people mining, or transaction fees will rise, or people won't mine it and it will fade and die (assuming it is still around to fade and die!)
2350  Economy / Speculation / Re: the latest price run and what next on: December 13, 2013, 08:12:35 AM
Ok I was genuinely surprised to see BTC go over 1K recently.....

my prediction was a floor between $100 - $700 at the end of this year. I know its wide but that's the upper an lower bounds of my log graph.

I thought there had to be crash, and it would be lower than the 500 - 600 level, maybe 250 - 350, or even 170.

It seem we may see a slow slide punctuated by a few sharp drops to 500 or sub 500.....would not be out of the question now.

Equally it could rise to +1K very easily and above.

What I do think is correct though is a order of 10 increase every 12 - 13 months, until saturation

I know the bitcoin world is crazy, but you thought that it could fall from $1200+ to $170?  That is a HUGE fall.  I think an actual ban of Bitcoin in America and China would be required to get the price back to that leel now.
2351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YES!! spots price is going insane!! on: December 13, 2013, 07:13:38 AM
Will there be a giveaway or a faucet in the near future?

I did a LOT of giveaways back when we first launched it in August. There's a faucet in the ANN thread, I'll check it in a bit to see if it's still alive

It is closed: http://kringleator.com/spt/
2352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: spots price is going insane!! on: December 13, 2013, 06:21:28 AM
$500k market cap now. Here it goes
Are you advertising this as a P&D, or do you see a bright future for Spots?

How do you mine using the client?  I selected 2 threads and 99 scantime but it did nothing

2354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hash Dollar: revolutionary cryptocoin? on: December 12, 2013, 03:16:42 PM
Does anybody know anything about hash dollar  Huh
I don't understand how #$/USD parity can be stable.

Go on then, we're all ears.  Tell us about your #$.  If it is pegged to the dollar then I am already not interested.
2355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spots [SPT] | Next coin going on WorkForCrypto.com | Win | Mac | Linux | on: December 12, 2013, 02:15:49 PM
Spots has been removed from Coinmarketcap.com entirely.

So now it's gone from Cryptsy and CMC.

Well it was removed from crysty first the reasions where made clear.
In regards to coinmarketcap.com its right there....
http://coinmarketcap.com ?? #42 atm?
Matter of fact its gone from 45 to 40 since its been added, what makes you think its not there anymore?

My mistake. It's up on Cryptsy AND Coinmarketcap!!

Time to rock and roll. Looking for a 3-5 million market cap. So few coins with Spots. Nice and rare Smiley

I estimate the same market cap to be honest. Great minds think alike Wink

Why should it go up 5-10 fold more? Is there anything unique?  Actual question, as I don't know.
2356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 12, 2013, 11:52:18 AM
was nobody watching what happened when WDC went live?

being added to btc38 does nothing for the volume, especially when BTC is on a downtrend and cant find its feet.

maybe we will see some volume when btc stabilizes, but by then alot of people will have already sold out after the anticlimax of december 13

Didnt WDC Spike to 250% and has now settled at about 180% ?
Exactly, pathetic hardly even worth our time...
2357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CPU mining help on: December 12, 2013, 11:20:22 AM
I could really use some help CPU mining
You might want to elaborate.  Which coin? The easiest way is to type setgenerate true-1 into your wallet, assuming it doesn't have a start mining button.
There are lots of "mining for noobs" guides out there.  I am essentially useless on computers, but have found all the information I need on this forum.
2358  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Problem with a Friend on: December 12, 2013, 11:16:40 AM
Say "Don't be so sexist" would be the easy answer.
What's difficult?  When people say racist things I call them on it.
2359  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will bitcoin's market cap surpass gold's? on: December 12, 2013, 11:14:16 AM
I would be happy to wager against Gold going to $200.
Any basis to back up your opinion? Is it because the dollar is so strong and the DOW has lots of room still to rise?
Or that tapering will help markets, and when rates rise it won't be a problem because America is almost debt free and there are so many buyers for bonds?

2360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2013, 11:11:21 AM
Seems to be quite a bit of selling pressure.  I think we will get back to $950 and hang around there for a while, before the next push!
