I still think 599 is a great target price

This article really calls them out on the way they have priced this http://cryptomining-blog.com/5284-sfards-sf100-asics-coming-soon-but-too-expensive/

That's Great target price but they won't sell them for that we Polly will never see one for that if it ever sells .

greedy bastard sorry could not resist saying it i had to > warn me I don't care but I just had to .
2362  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PCI-e replacement cables for modular EVGA PSU series? on: August 04, 2015, 10:51:00 PM
cablez sells quality made to order on this site.  not sure if he will be low enough for your tastes.

he uses 16 gauge wire.

I would like to see the evga link at 6$ a cable as I have a lot of evga psu's

this is a link for full sets

http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=10&family=Power+Supplies&chipset=+Power+Supply+Cable+Set+(Individually+Sleeved)
Thanks for dropping Cablez's name.

Yep, that is the set i calculated the 6$/cable from, which i find fairly pricy since that's 3-4 time the cost of the materials. There's also the issue where there's some cables i don't need.

These switches are pretty sexy. https://i.imgur.com/HmYgX.jpg

Unless i missed his more current method of selling his products (i checked the link in his sig); I see Cablez's thread has been dead for 5~ months. If i don't find a better alternative i think i will ask him for a quote, i am however wondering if it would be worth the shipping to Canada.

he made me 4 seasonic cables

I have been using them since July 2014 24/7/365

I run 2 s-3's at freq 206 about 420gh 2 cables for each s-3 and a 1000 watt platinum seasonic. can't complain 13 months with about 1 day of down time due to internet/power outages.

tip there is a seller on ebay that sells nothing but seasonic cables 5 bucks each not custom made of really good quality, no idea were he gets them and seems to have a end less supply . when i bought some ss psu a while back they didn't come with enough PCI cabels so i went looking . haven't bought any off him for a while but what i got was very good .
2363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PCI-e replacement cables for modular EVGA PSU series? on: August 04, 2015, 10:38:46 PM
So over time of dealing with shitty pci-e connector from Zeus Thunder x3/GAW Rebrand, i've burnt quite a few psu to 6pin/6+8 pcie cables, the psu themselves were not damaged, even tho a single pin was melted overall on one of my PSU.

I've now changed the wires and PSU type completely in the ASICs, but now i'm left with PSUs lacking proper PCIE cables. EVGA sell sets at 6$/cable which i find a bit too pricy.

TLDR;
Is there a good source of quality modular psu to pci-e 6pin cable at a affordable rate? EVGA sell at 6$/per and i find it a bit too pricy to my taste.

More specially i'd be interested in;
-PCI-e (VGA) evga/quality equivalent PSU to PCI-E 2x6pin or 1x6pin+1x6+2pin cables (ending with 2 pcie connectors)
-Perif (Perif) evga/quality equivalent PSU to PCI-E 6pin cables
-Perif (Sata) evga/quality equivalent PSU to PCI-E 6pin cables

I'm interested in comparing the availability of these versus buying the materials/tools to make them myself. I would be grateful for any input/suggestion on the matter. Smiley

Those cable are real bad i made my own for all zeus miner no hot wires now . no worry of fires etc ..

check out this guy, hes on the forums, doesn't  like me but i still recommend his cables and they should work with those Evga Psu , they do mine but make sure don't take my word i would make sure , i bought a few to try once i was very impressed with how  well they were made etc .

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461.0  but the shipping might kill it for you but those cables are nice.

hes right here in the forums Smiley .
2364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: August 03, 2015, 11:50:21 PM
What you mean price is 2000 dollars per unit at 54 MHz?

http://zoomhash.com/collections/bitcoin-asics/products/sf100-btc-ltc-dual-miner-ships-within-5-days-only-5-in-stock

It does both SHa256 and Script they think because it can do both it is worth 1299 to 2k . and the Sad part is they will get it !!!!!. but that is how it all works .

Maybe if it did 110 MH and 1.7 TH  maybe then but then they would want more just because it would do 110 mH and the A2 still sells for 1399 or less for the 110 MH One.

i bet they base it off other miner prices not the coins.

oyea what it cost to DEV it witch is not what they claim that's another excuse to make it higher . other wise prove me wrong on the cost to dev and make it .That like telling us  the US is broke when we had our shut down last year if we weren't lied to we lost 21 billion during that shut down and so were not broke.

same here . !!! Just a excuse to be greedy.

MY question is

HAS ANYONE GOT One of these yet ? .

Just sent a PM i live in the US . that's nice price imo .
2366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bit Crane Mining Equipment from new egg it's temping . on: August 03, 2015, 08:47:22 PM
Seriously overpriced and inefficient. Ignore the things.

I remember looking at them when I first noticed them on NewEgg - and didn't even have to crunch the numbers, they're SO inefficient. They MIGHT be profitable if you have VERY cheap (5 cent or less / KWH) electric 'till the halving next year, but you'lll NEVER ROI the things unless your electric is free or bloody near to free.

I know it temping but not temping enough, i may buy  one of the PI type controllers , it looks about the same as a PI2 for far less and works better from it says . i may buy one just to play with .
2367  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bit Crane Mining Equipment from new egg it's temping . on: August 03, 2015, 08:43:53 PM
I think an s3 is a better deal no?

although this is probably majorly quieter.

Yes a S3 would be better it looks temping to play with, i didn't post the PI  type controller they offered as well at 19.99 . it looked to be same as a  PI2 but it wasn't but better . that I may buy to buy to see what it can do .
2368  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ETHICAL PROBLEM WITH BITMAIN on: August 03, 2015, 08:28:09 PM
Although my opinion varies on their sales and marketing.  Their warranty and repair of non warrantied equipment is top notch.  Albeit from their lack of replacement parts on hand which tends to be nill, my experience was Bitmain US in Denver.

can you tell me how so >  warranty and repair of non warrantied equipment is top notch .  i just tried once again to buy two hash boards even offered to send in my boards for repair got a really rude reply back on that one,  I don't care if there new or used as long as they work i don't need a warranty either but they want more then what it costs for a used/second hand  S5  . mine is out of warranty, that's top notch ? .

Ive been treated way better in warranty by them. i may have it sold on ebay any way , i was just hoping to save to a few bucks and keep it, i planed to buy a used/second hand one if it sold sense they increased the warranty to 30 days .. and it makes better sense to buy it used/second hand S5 at least then i know it's ok . and Works , some times buying used is best just depends who you buy from .

This was just my experience with them.  Like I said  they fail when it comes to spare parts for miners.  You can't hope for them to repair everything after warranty is over.  This is just the way the industry is.

cool but my point is I'm wiling to pay for out of warranty Service.  In the past in the US all places like MSI ASUS etc usually have a set fee for that kind of service and don't do this , I live in the US . I thought the  Us has a law to cover this or did, the law for out of warranty service says they  can only charge so much and not the price of a new or used one if they offer repair servcie or parts. sense they told me or gave me a price it falls under that law , even went as far as told me to send in the hash boards. but it's cool , I 'm letting it go. it was just how they handled it all hard nosed and for no reason . like knocking off a 100 to 120  bucks would hurt them or the shipping .  in the past when i bought stuff from them in the US from Denver they were very nice and treated me kindly like i mattered . I gave some really kind words to them for that .
2369  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cloudthink Basic Check on: August 03, 2015, 07:19:33 PM
It's been a while since I have been around, I am still running Spoondoolies SP30's from the buy that Roadstress setup a while ago. I drop in occasionally but this is the first hardware I thought I would have a look at in a long while but I like to have a quick check of what is going on.

Basic company check:
UK Registered Company registered 2015.03.26
Director: John Richard Colman

Wink Interesting since when has California been a part of England

Tax break which they might not get a way with for long moving not forming my bad  the main head base to the the UK were in the UK they get a tax break and pay less taxes some kind of UK benefit then they would in the US etc  but still holding onto the US part for US help\benefits ( in other words legal stealing ) but i read some place that may become illegal soon no help etc , considered tax evasion, if one senator gets the law past , which I thought was.. this was all thought up around this time or later last year because of the health care law and shut down we had .

SO i would be be very careful with this if that's what there up to there playing it both ways, wonder were they will run, if this is what there up to and plan to ripe off a lot big time once they get there miners out there . but the GOV is nothing to play with but well see.

Here is the controller by the details it will run anything and Win 10 works on it i looked . Smiley . at 19.99 that may just be temping enough to buy sense it sells for 59 bucks or more that model, on AMZON OR EBAY without  the Bit Crane name they just re branded it, I'm sure .

I would like confirmation, did the latest S5 firmware fix the chip not going idle when the S5 lose internet connection? The fan would power down but not the chips.

Wondering if i should order those bimetal thermal thing or not.

It did but for some it had other side affects like hashing cut in half. or speed dropping to 900 GH .

2373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Minera v0.6.1] Your next mining dashboard - Networked/CPUminer/CGminer/BFGminer on: August 02, 2015, 02:52:36 PM
I'm really loving minera.  I'm happily donating.  I much prefer it to Minepeon although that has served me well in the past.

Can anybody help me with a noob(ish) guide to updating to the latest bfgminer?  5.2 I think.  Cheers.

Minera has  5.1 at least that's what i saw .

This will work with any PI ,cubie etc it does not have to have the minera image to do it but if you want minera as your main miner, i would use it and i do .

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

cd /tmp

Try not to reboot the PI till your done if you use the temp folder

sudo git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git

cd /tmp/bfgminer

sudo ./autogen.sh

For autogen if you used the above bfg it comes with everything you need

if you see this

version.h..cmp: version.h: No such file or directory

at the end of sudo ./autogen.sh

that's normal it is a new BFG install or thinks it is .

sudo chmod +x ./configure
sudo ./configure CFLAGS="-O3" --enable-scrypt --enable-broad-udevrules

sudo make
sudo make install

Now test it

sudo ldconfig
lsusb

bfgminer --scrypt -S all -o your Ming pool or url -u user -p PW

This replaces 5.1 with 5.2, the one you just made

cd temp/bfgminer
sudo cp bfgminer /var/www/minera/minera-bin/bfgminer

IF you get the below message using CP just stop BFG either by the UI use stop miner in minera or use the command line which off hand i don't know for BFG .

cp: cannot create regular file `/var/www/minera/minera-bin/bfgminer': Text file busy

or KEEP 5.1 and copy your complied version to the custom folder but it has to be rename BFG some thing or a name you like or it won't work in the custom folder.

cd temp/bfgminer

sudo cp bfgminer /var/www/minera/minera-bin/custom/bfgminer_5_2 or the name you like

sudo reboot

reboot to be safe you don't have to but i would any way and once you reboot the temp folder will be empty.

I tired to update it this way but it wouldn't for me .So i did it the above way. or did but not to 5.2

cd /var/www/minera
./build_miner.sh bfgminer official

GL .

this runs real nicely as well and  i have also found that BFGMINER 5.2 work really good now, if you  run it on a PI at command line or in minera . Smiley .

Talk about signature campaign spam and necro posting ....

If any rig is twice as fast as another, not only that, but uses half the energy to deliver that hash rate compared to the other, then it is as clear as daylight that it has to be, arguably, twice as expensive, if not more.

EDIT: And no, I refuse to feed the troll.

If they were released at the same time... then yes it would be true.  It was mentioned "Very last S3+ (brand new) they were selling for around 200USD" so it's been quite a while since there were brand new S3+.  So I'm assuming were talking about two different points in time.

I could be wrong but I don't think S3+ and S5 were selling at same time.  So variables such as difficulty among other things is a factor.  (Not sure on S3++ it might have been selling at same time as S5).

S3++ was S3 + that i remeber was not Smiley but I don't think bitmain ever sold any S3++ to the gen public you had to catch those on a ebay sells and had to notice it .

Used miner purchases will receive coupons towards new miner purchases

Although this current batch of Antminer S5 listed for sale are used units, Bitmain performs quality control testing on every machine to ensure that it is in proper working order before shipping to consumers.

These machines have only been running for about 40 days in our farm, so there should not be a significant impact on the performance or the total life of the machines.

Bitmain would like to offer coupons to customers who bought S4+ or S5 recently to be used towards the future purchase of our next generation of mining machine.

At this time, we are unable to provide detailed information on the new machines or the size of the coupons, but please expect an official announcement in the near future.

This is the Bitmain we all know !!!

TY for letting us know i was getting worried .I mean that.

48 dollars for a S3 lol .
2379  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.2.0: issues on: July 28, 2015, 04:06:18 AM
I just downloaded BFGminer 5.2.0. I am running it on Windows 8.1 as 64 bit (tried 32 bit too) and am trying to connect to 2 Gridseed blades (4 devices). I have run from a Admin command windows (as well as lesser cmd) and get the following messages:

Do not have user privileges required to open \\.\COM4

It appears 4 times (once for each board) followed by the following error:

Failed to open Device Parameters registry key in lowl-vcom.c _vcom_devinfo_scan_windows__hubport():556: The system cannot find the file specified.

As expected I also get the red status of "NO DEVICED FOUND: Press 'M' and '+' to add" but when I do, I get an empty list (i.e. no devices listed). I was running cgminer but had issues with the Blades all staying mining at the same time so decided to give this a try. I uninstalled the ZAG drivers and installed the STM drivers. My devices shows 4 of these:

Eject STM32 Virtual COM Port

So I think that is right. I have tried different command arguments but am currently running this way:

bfgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://{pool} -u {user} -p {pw} -S all --set-device gridseed:clock=825

I know the pool and user info is good as it works fine (when it does) under cgminer. I did reboot as well as tried it all again. No change. The files are all under c:\bfgminer and I changed the command window directory to there before launching the batch file.

Any thoughts?

Drivers installed or the right ones and  try

bfgminer.exe --scrypt -S gsd:all -o stratum+tcp://{pool} -u {user} -p {pw} --set gsd:clock=800

Link to those drivers its been a while sense i use BFG or CG  in windows

I have a Gblade ive been running for few day it seems to run way cooler using these two fans and is nice and quit by that i mean the room i have miner in with those fans at full speed you can't hear unless you listen hard.

NO stock fans to loud for me, those two fans are plugged into the PSU .

http://www.ebay.com/itm/231150657895?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=380922276988&view=all&tid=595887063025

I sty like this all most all the time , that temp is not the miner temp it is the PI. i can Polly use my fish tank temperature thing to find out the temps inside the miner but I see no need sense those two fan are moving cool or warm air not hot at all .Just make sure the fans you use are pulling air thu it, it won't matter what side they are on back or front the air just has to move thu it not sty inside . or you might burn out a board or two like i did at first , I  was able to replace two boards off ebay.

with BFGminer 5.2

my setting are

--scrypt -S gsd:all --set gsd:clock=800
