2361  Economy / Speculation / Re: why i'm not selling my coins on: March 23, 2017, 10:34:34 AM
The real question should be 'Why didn't you sold at $1200 and rebuy now at $1000 or even below coming days?'

Selling is risky and highly unnecessary. I for example bought all my bitcoins at $300 and never sold any. I don't have to sell because the value of my investment is increasing dramatically.

Never trust the people whom advise you to sell. They hang out on a bitcoin-dedicated forum, go figure... They are after your coins. I have friends who don't believe in bitcoin, they are not on bitcointalk.

You talk from a strong position. You were from the almost early adopters, so you dont care even if the price falls at $500 because you still are in profit. For the majority of BTC users who bought their coins from $1000+ they had to sell at $1200 and rebuy back. I was one of them. I sold all at $1200 and now I am in 33BTC worth of fiat If I buy right now.

that doesn't make any sense!
even if you bought at $10 you would mind if price falls. profit is not just x2-x1 > 0 it is the time you let your money sleep and not touch it.

and all that aside if you really know what bitcoin is, meaning not just believe what you read on the internet, then you wouldn't care about what people say and what tiny fluctuation bitcoin may have when you are looking at the bigger picture.

what you said is true for those who are day trading. yeah if you want to buy today in order to sell tomorrow or in a week then you mind the small changes.

what if i were to tell you people were saying the same thing you are saying right now when price was $220?
2362  Economy / Speculation / Re: Pessimist's Exponent on: March 23, 2017, 10:26:14 AM
There are other ways to interpret this - if it breaks the support line - than we'll have a big correction. On a log chart this is a straight line - so many chartist will treat it as a trend line and support.

The history of other exponential fragments supports this. It is pretty silly to reject most of bitcoin history as 'outliers' - outliers are the exceptions, they cannot be the biggest part of the data.

this is exactly what is wrong with this kind of analysis and why i never liked it and most people call it psedu science anyways Cheesy

everyone interprets them differently and when they come true everyone says it was a perfect speculation and when they don't come true everyone tries to come up with excuses and additional scenarios to make them work and again when those additional scenarios don't work they come up with more and change the lines again.

it is a broken chain based on a false base.

market doesn't move based on lines on a chart so that if one of them was broken, it goes further down just because an imaginary line was broken.
2363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is getting out? on: March 23, 2017, 10:21:18 AM
Who else is cashing in before the fork wipes out Bitcoin?  I don't have much but will quit while I'm ahead.   Wink

haha, you were ahead when price was $1250+ and if you have waited this far along it means you either were asleep or you are one of those weak hands that sell his coins to the whales each time there is some FUD in the market Wink
in that case i thank you for your contribution in selling us your coins cheap .
2364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs Litecoin (The Ultimate Question) on: March 21, 2017, 11:29:50 AM
LTC was popular in 2013, maybe a bit in 2014. After that, it's importance died, being one of the first bitcoin clones can't help for so long. There's no room for public cryptocurrencies that aim to become payment system in the game right now, not even bitcoin reached mainstream adoption after 8 years.

you are pushing for your ethereum with this comment and you don't know what you are talking about.
bitcoin reaching mainstream has more stops and slow downs than just being a "payment system". in short it is because the world is not ready and half of it won't allow a decentralized system to become big.

and as for litecoin, you should check the price, the volume and the development of this coin. after all this years which is nearly 8 years too, litecoin is still big and it can not be said about any other coin. and all that aside did you know Chinese are super interested in this coin for some weird reason.
the major Chinese exchanges only has bitcoin and litecoin and nothing else.
2365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ***Lisk, a bull market you don't want to miss.*** on: March 21, 2017, 11:23:38 AM
i am glad i bought Lisk after i saw this topic the other day, thanks.
i admit i was a bit skeptical at first but reading some of the comments and seeing the charts for myself changed my mind Smiley

and i also think this is a perfect timing for a rise, the other big altcoin pumps are over and they have been dropping fast so all the attention can be brought to Lisk potentially.
2366  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rush to sell is real on: March 21, 2017, 11:10:41 AM
It's funny how through the years things haven't changed a single bit. If you browse through 2011 threads, you'll see that at such insanely low prices (compared to todays prices) people were equally in panic at the time the price went down. If you just look at how the price has been developing in the last years, then it's obvious that no matter what level of intense panic, the price always recovers and moves up higher. It's of course not a guarantee that it will continue to recover endlessly, but with Bitcoin's potential growth in mind, we have far more exciting years still ahead of us. Smiley

excellent point.
and as a matter of fact i was doing it a couple of months back. i was bored and decided to flip through the pages in range of 300 in this board, although i don't think all of the early topics are found this way but it was a good experience seeing all those comments with the same theme although in a much smaller scale.
2367  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC Price Change Factor in Trading on: March 21, 2017, 11:04:04 AM
first of all this is a wrong board for this discussion, it should either be in altcoin board or trading discussion.

and about what you said i have say you are investing the investment and you have to accept all the risks coming with the double process.

if you believe in the future of bitcoin and are speculating that bitcoin is going to rise in long term then how bitcoin price is changing short term while you are joining in a pump and dump altcoin should matter to you at all because you go in with x amount of bitcoin and come out with x+ amount of bitcoin and in the long term your initial investment of bitcoin has grown.

also i should add that in altcoins you should try to think more in terms of their value against bitcoin in my opinion instead of their USD value.
2368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of work debate? Threatened 51% attack due to fork debate on: March 21, 2017, 10:58:11 AM
and how do you think miners will react to this talking about POW change and practically killing their investment?
and i am not just talking about mining farms, pools or whatever but i am talking about the whole 100% of the hashrate including all the individuals that have invested in buying an ASIC,... to mine bitcoin?
2369  Economy / Economics / Re: The best time to invest. on: March 20, 2017, 09:28:33 AM
Some day in the future, you will realize that the best time to invest was not today, but some other day in the future, when prices were low. But with the information that you have today, the best time to invest is still today, because you do not know when prices will be low, and you do know that the longer you hold your investment, the more time it has to grow.

doesn't make much sense to be honest!
i think you want to say something that is in your head but you failed to say it properly!

first of all invest in what? you are posting in economic board, it can be bitcoin, altcoin, gold, stocks,....

if you think what you invest in is good, then invest in it right now. don't wait for tomorrow. don't wait for price dip, don't wait too long. get in. but you have to be damn sure about it being a good investment. for bitcoin i say get in right now. there may be some dips and some more fluctuation but at the end of the day it is still bitcoin and will rise. hold your investment for a year and you'll see.
2370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Crash To 31$ on: March 20, 2017, 09:21:20 AM
i no longer follow ethereum price because i got out recently on top after i got my profit.

you should always do that too. although it seems like there was another small rise in ethereum but what you should do is to buy when price is low then set a profit target for yourself. in a pumping coin like ethereum it can be a big percentage but set it to anything that you feel comfortable with an when price reaches there you dump without hesitation an dump hard Smiley

that way you get the profit you were looking for and never ever in your life regret anything anymore.

holding altcoins for too long is never going to end well
2371  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Partners? on: March 20, 2017, 09:13:57 AM
for trading i am using regular exchanges and with fiat (USD) deposit and withdrawals and most of the time i am doing altcoin trading which is through bitcoin!!

but for exchanging to local currency i have got a guy that i found and he gives me good deals with proper price compared to current market rate.
but i doubt you and i live in the same country Wink so introducing him is pointless.
2372  Economy / Speculation / Re: What caused the diving market on: March 20, 2017, 09:07:02 AM
Now there is a new issue about the diving market.that is fork risk! Undecided

you dug out and then bumped an old topic to give a wrong answer!

it is still the same reason for so called "diving" as before. and it is nothing else than FUD. there is no fear of "fork" because fork in this context is the boogeyman that kids are afraid of and they are wetting their beds because of it.
2373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 4 Things I Learned as A Bitcoin Holder on: March 20, 2017, 09:02:38 AM
A great article though and what a very inspiring story from wansfang. Chinese surely is good when it comes to money matter.

And I guess I'm on the right track upon reading the first thing that he did that sticking on the long term investment.

That's why I'll keep my bitcoin for the long term investment.
are u sure u will hold ur coins for long now? how come all friends around me are buying altcoins, especially Dash.

There are a 50% chance that you can earn and gain from Altcoins even if sometimes it is risky indeed but there are altcoins that are very trustworthy, just like the Dashcoin they say it is a automatically mutating anonymous cryptocurrency that are created with CryptoNote technology Well they are say that their network code is always up to date with minimal developer cost and close to 0% errors. users no longer depending on developers or they Concentrate less on developers and more on your trades and other projects. well try it if you want, but ask first your friends if they want to teach you about this.

how did you come up with that number, it is not a coin flip to have 50-50 chance of heads or tails. it depends on a lot of factors. such as what coin you get in or how much experience you have in trading.

and about your remark about dash i have to say never believe what you read on the forum. people are always full of it. i am not saying it is right or wrong but unless you check it yourself and use it and get a feeling of whether it is true or not, do not believe it.
2374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking After Paper Wallets on: March 19, 2017, 09:30:54 AM
Yeah I wouldn't trust a laminating shop, I'm still not sure if I trust my printer  Grin
You can get small machines that you can use to laminate yourself for quite cheap which would remove the need to go to a laminating shop.

maybe its just me but the cost is not worth it to buy a laminating equipment just to do a one time lamination and throw the equipment in storage!

...stuck to my fridge with a magnet, not the most secure thing in the world.

someone once said he stored his private keys (on paper) among his medical documents and he said he labeled them as "urine test results". there is no way in hell a thief is going to get into that specially when it is among other medical documents Cheesy
2375  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is going to be good for Bitcoin some day, HODL on: March 19, 2017, 09:13:14 AM
And ETH and DASH and all the other crap would be so lucky if they had to deal with this one day.  This being an issue for Bitcoin is a sign of success.

the funny thing about all these other coins that are claiming to be better than bitcoin is that they can't even handle 1/10 of bitcoin traffic!
i love to see hoe ETH is going to be when it starts having some real transactions take place and the blockchain of it bloats fast, the same for DASH.
people are crying their hearts out because bitcoin blockchain is nearing 100 GB after 8 years and ETH has the same size of blockchain and it has not even been around that long! let it have more transactions and we see how node count of it drop to zero and its network be finally effed!
2376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking After Paper Wallets on: March 19, 2017, 09:00:06 AM
i was considering laminating my paper wallet but that would require me to go out to a "laminating shop" (i don't know what it is called in English) and ask them to do it and that already compromises me even though i can be 99% sure the person doing it won't have slightest idea what it is i have written on paper Smiley

you can encrypt it with a password and then do it though, but i didn't.
i just settled for simple writing down my seed (or it can be private key) on a paper! simple! and it has been 2 years and the paper is still fine.
i should add that is not my only back up, but it is my only physical backup.

ink getting damaged by the sun

don't leave your paper in the garden. Cheesy
2377  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the Winklevoss twins selling off their Bitcoin stash? on: March 18, 2017, 12:26:35 PM
FUD about fork and all that drama caused a panic and led to the drop: shaking out weak hands.

So you are basically claiming that the FUD doesn't count as something nasty. Did I get you correct?

nah, its normal or maybe i am used to it Wink

and if you can figure out that it was in fact FUD then you can easily take advantage of it to make profit.
2378  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My BTC safer in my Electrum wallet than in my Bitstamp account ? on: March 18, 2017, 12:16:12 PM
I beleive that, having been using computers for decades without serious trouble, I will be able to keep a safe back-up of my wallet, on a hard disk. I will get some clarifications on how to use Electrum on the specialised section of this forum. The use of Electrum (and possibly other wallets) is not so easy to understand in detail - I just sent and received money so far, without any attempt to understand more.

just remember that anything that exists on hardware (like your hard disk) is vulnerable to either being hacked if not encrypted properly or you had something like a keylogger on your system and accidentally open the wallet on that system.

or is susceptible to hardware failure such as your HDD not working again because of electrical shock or something similar.

remember to make a hard copy (write down the seed on paper) of your wallet.
2379  Economy / Economics / Re: Are the Winklevoss twins selling off their Bitcoin stash? on: March 18, 2017, 12:09:44 PM
i can't choose neither of your poll options!
- Winkelvoss twins surely aren't going to sell their coins just because their ETF was rejected. because (for the millionth time) bitcoin is still bitcoin and it is rising and it is still a good investment.
besides they are not idiots to "dump" their coins, if we assume they want to sell they will do it without letting you and i know. the same way they bought it when price was low and you and i didn't find out about it.

- there is nothing nasty going on. it is the usual shit Smiley
FUD about fork and all that drama caused a panic and led to the drop: shaking out weak hands.
2380  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin deep to $1070 best time to buy. on: March 18, 2017, 12:03:23 PM
This is an excellent buying opportunity, obviously.

There is no fork planned. Do your research.
This was a very manipulated correction.

Manipulation is always when market moves against a trader. It moves up - traders scream manipulation, it moves down - traders scream manipulation, it moves down but not enough - traders scream manipulation.

you only think that because you are not looking deep enough into what people say. obviously some people are full of it no matter what they say. but mostly when people say manipulation there is a reason behind it.
example:
- when ETF rejected and price dropped, it was obviously manipulation. use your brain. why should it drop? was ETF necessary for bitcoin? was ETF a fundamental thing for bitcoin?
- when price dropped in the past 2 days what was the reason? was there really a fork? did bitcoin split? did BU have enough hash power to even be remotely close to a fork? does even fork mean split?

the answer to all above answers with a little bit of brain power is NO which leaves us with only other explanation: manipulation

this is true about price rise also. when price goes from x to x +20%x in 1-2 days it is a pump. when price increases 130% in 5 minutes (check altcoins) it is obviously manipulation.
