1541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Real Bitcoin" on: November 04, 2017, 01:47:30 PM
people are not just going to abandon bitcoin if some hashrate leaves! bitcoin may have some problems if a large portion of it leaves but that will be temporary and surely not all of the hashrate.

and it is not all about miners, it is all the users who also have to choose between these chains. if majority of users also choose the fork then it will be bitcoin and the old one will be abandoned.

maybe i am alone but i had a much clearer choice about bitcoin cash than i have now. i wish more of the topics spend some time about arguing about things that are "technically" bad about SegWit2x rather than things that are politically and emotionally wrong with it.
1542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Besides crypto, what would be the safest way to hold your money? on: November 04, 2017, 01:40:26 PM
i am always skeptical about thinking that many people like OP actually exist or not. he claims that he is trying to not hold any money in banks and that is impossible to do! where are you going to keep your fiat? in your mattress?!

i don't know why some people are so anti-banks around here. we all use them, we don't like all of what they do, but we love other things they offer, so i don't get why this much hatred and pretend that they don't use banks!

as for the main question, cryptocurrency in general is safe only as far as cryptography goes and that is pretty safe for bitcoin and you can say for some altcoins but many may even have bugs. on the other hand safety of money is its value. and in general crypto is not safe at all specially altcoins. even bitcoin is so volatile at that. this means it is not something you keep everything in.
1543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 100.000 new coinbase users in 24 hours. on: November 04, 2017, 01:36:30 PM
the CME news was indeed huge and unexpected. it even caused this big price rise from $4xxx range up to $7000 and the first $1000 was the insiders who bought bitcoin, and by that time i was wondering where the hell this demand was coming from. now i know.

of course there is always the fact that Coinbase can lie, and it is more of an advertisement it may be close to that number but not quite. simply making the headlines is a big advertisement which will push them towards it!
1544  Economy / Speculation / Re: Segwit2x in November on: November 03, 2017, 10:25:48 AM
i am still a little afraid of this upcoming fork but mainly because not much about it is still clear like how many of the miners are going to support it for real or how much hashrate it can keep in the long run like in 3 months after the fork.

when the signalling begins everything will become clear though. i also don't know how they are going to do the signalling either! will it be like SegWit signalling?

there will be a small drop after the fork though. when people get their coins it can come down a little like the BTG drop.
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Panic selling vs Panic buying on: November 03, 2017, 10:11:07 AM
Hey there!
A question of panic selling was already discussed on this forum a billion times. But whats bad here? If you are sure that the price will grow back then you can just buy some BTC in better rates. The more dangerous will be the situation when someone is buying BTC while being afraid of loosing some profits despite the fact that pump has already happened (I'm calling it a panic buying). Thats seems like a straight way to lose money and make a bubble.
I beg to differ, I have stated trading when btc was 5000 i buy that rate.
Then jp sucks and make it 3000.
That period was over and now i am at profit.
In btc one thing i learn,if you hold you will not instantly but eventually.and thats the beauty.

it is 100% true but sometimes it is best to buy in the dips.
for example the JP Morgan thing was an obvious FUD for them to buy bitcoin, and the market reacted on a completely expected manner. you could have sold what you had or waited for the bottom if you had money to buy back and enjoy their FUD and the panic dump that came afterwards.
1546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do alt coin holders lose money when Bitcoin's price rises? on: November 03, 2017, 10:04:39 AM
it is very simple to find out the answer to this!
just take a look at prices of each altcoin in BTC and USD. you can see they are going down in both markets. mostly in BTC and less in USD but it happens in both. that means YES they are losing money.

you can also look at it differently.
lets say an altcoin is worth $300 and that is 0.05BTC while bitcoin is 6000.

bitcoin price goes up to $7000 that means that altcoin drops to $290 and that is ~0.0414BTC
this means if you had $300 in that altcoin, not only you lost $10 because of its drop but also you lost 0.086BTC which is $60.2 with $7000

in other words sell your altcoins to bitcoin before the bitcoin rise begins, that way you do two things: 1) prevent your investment from when that altcoin tanks 2) profit when bitcoin price rises.
1547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: something in India with BTC on: November 03, 2017, 09:52:35 AM
A source close to the Indian regulators disclosed ...

based on my experience someone who starts his comment with something like this is lying! and this is not the first time either.

you either give us legit source or you are just spreading FUD.

worst case scenario they will regulate their exchanges and nothing will change! the price of bitcoin may come down from current ($8500-$9000 in India) back down to normal levels with the rest of the market which is $7100+ in USD exchanges.
1548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bubbles: Tulip Mania, Dot.Com and Bitcoin on: November 03, 2017, 09:44:22 AM
the rise of bitcoin this year was unexpected and it broke the previously perfect trend of rising about 100% to 200% per year. now it is about 600% rise this year. that is why many think this can be a bubble. of course there are many who are afraid of bitcoin and want it to fail so they intentionally call it bubble to create fear in the market a much as they can.

i liked your final questions and the answers. that is also what i believe. although we usually call it BTC not BC Smiley
i think there may be some downtime soon but it will not be a bubble but a correction.
1549  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin Segwit 2 Profit day? on: November 01, 2017, 10:32:29 AM
Are there any dangers around it?

well, as you can see bitcoin is rising pretty fast these days and with each step other altcoins specially ethereum are getting dumped harder and harder. and best case scenario is that they go down against bitcoin.

for example ETH is not worth 0.046BTC and a while ago it was worth 0.07BTC and not so long ago it was 0.14BTC.
this means if you sold 10 ETH a while ago you could have gotten 1.4BTC but now you are getting 0.46BTC ($9100 versus $2990) that is what you are getting now.

by the time fork happens you may get 0.04 or if you are unlucky there may be a bigger dump and you get 0.03 per coin.

this is the "danger" you forgot to see.
1550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New ICOs everywhere, What's your take on them? on: November 01, 2017, 10:20:28 AM
there is an easy way open for those who know how, to scam people. so they will use it as much as they can and as long as they can. so lots of them will be created, exploiting this "opportunity".
as long as people are paying them money they will keep on creating the crap and sell it to them and make money from their idiocy.

it is like the premined coins which were pretty common not so long ago. the dev premines the coin saying we need the funds to develop and in a short while after they liquidate those funds, the development stops.
1551  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price to the sky if Amazon rumor become true ! on: November 01, 2017, 09:53:26 AM
that is a big "if" though.
bitcoin has been around for a long time an all this time there has been so many people wanting Amazon to start accepting bitcoin but it has not yet happened.
other big US based companies such as Microsoft have already done this years ago, so there must be something preventing Amazon from doing it already and i don't think it is yet lifted.
1552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin + Bitcoin Cash.... on: November 01, 2017, 09:46:53 AM
sorry to disappoint OP and all those who may think like him but what you think will come in the future has to start today. better yet, i has to have started yesterday.

so far bitcoin is used for all those things and it will only grow more and more in the future.
on the other hand bitcoin cash is and will be used only as a pump and dump altcoin and something that miners use when they want to abuse the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment to make some big profit in a day. nothing more.
1553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2x to dump or not to dump on: November 01, 2017, 09:39:07 AM
... small holder
... confused

if you are a small holder and are confused about these things the best course of action is always to transfer your bitcoins in cold storage like a paper wallet and wait these things out.

you are holding small amounts so you shouldn't really worry about any money loss. for example 0.01BTC would have given you 0.0007 BTG at best which is not even going to cover the exchange withdrawal fees!
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen for people who does not support Segwit2X? on: November 01, 2017, 09:31:28 AM
i am starting to think all these "support" "don't support" things they keep releasing are just political and in order to gain some publicity. and of course news sites enjoy all the click baits too.

i remember most of exchanges were saying the same bullshit of "we don't support bitcoin cash" but now a lot of them have it listed Cheesy

the thing about exchanges is that they don't give a shit about bitcoin. they only look at the high volume. if it has it, they support it because it gives them more profit.
1555  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Bubble Yes / No on: October 31, 2017, 11:23:02 AM
bitcoin is not a bubble.

but it has a lot of bubbles that burst and correct in time. the thing is, we should look at bubbles in bitcoin in a different way. they are not always a huge thing that needs to burst and drop to an extremely low price. a bubble can be small too and the correction of it also will be small.

people who talk about bitcoin bubbles, always forget the big drops that bitcoin had so far. they are right there on the charts! each big dip which looks like a valley.
1556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese will be allowed to trade Bitcoin again soon on: October 31, 2017, 11:15:33 AM
As some crypto experts such as Clif High, Bix Weir, Teeka Tiwari of The Palm Beach Confidential and many others have already predicted it is very possible that the Chinese can trade again with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in a short time as soon as the authorities regulate this market to avoid scams.

you can never predict China, they will do unpredictable stuff. they may never allow bitcoin, or they may remove all restrictions from it. both are equally possible in my opinion.
however from what i have seen, they have nothing against people trading bitcoin. they banned exchanges that were shady and had lots of ICOs.

Quote
Do you think that this will happen as soon as it is predicted or will we still have to wait a few more months? Or do you think that this will never happen or at least not so easy?
i believe this will eventually happen. it may be a couple of more months though.
1557  Economy / Speculation / Re: How can be attributed the recent price surge of bitcoin? on: October 31, 2017, 11:04:09 AM
The price of Bitcoin grow up from $5,800 to $6,345 during one day, $4,800 to $6,345 during one week.
Which range of factors affects the price?

these two are 8% rise and (in 18 days not 1 week) 32% (1.77% per day) rises.

these small rises do not really need reasons or factors. anything that falls within 10% i will call normal fluctuations of bitcoin price. and that has always been the case even when price was $400.
1558  Economy / Speculation / Re: Upcoming alt bull run on: October 31, 2017, 10:57:38 AM
... BTC is clearly on wave 5 which a nice ABC correction should shortly follow, sparking a massive altcoin bull run ......
...
as it is the better way to hedge in a downfall by stacking more BTC, as opposed to fleeing to fiat.

these are two things that i do not agree with at all.
first we have seen many times that whenever bitcoin has any correction altcoins follow it down. meaning they will have a bigger drop.

second, altcoins are never a better hedge than fiat. if you want to go out, go out to fiat. ALWAYS. altcoins are better tools for the times when they are getting pumped not generally.
1559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold a Funeral ? on: October 31, 2017, 10:34:25 AM
that is what anyone who tries to abuse "bitcoin brand" will get and they deserve it.
forks like bitcoin gold and bitcoin cash and possibly a lot of other bitcoin banks will have the same fate, nobody wants them and nobody believes in their future. and they don't have any either. that makes for a nice massive dump by anyone who receives these tokens and the price crashes hard.

they will always have pump and dumps for a while though, then they meet their inevitable doom.
1560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The next Ethereum pump on: October 29, 2017, 10:28:27 AM
when an altcoin is already pumped and its price is in a big bubble you can not expect any significant pump out of it. the only things you will see is small rises due to some FOMO buying which only lasts a short time because of  the already existing bubble and the fact that there are many bag-holders waiting to dump their coins at the smallest rise.

in my opinion ETH has to fall significantly first to be able to pick up and have any meaningful pump.
