1361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: tx costs of different established cryptocurrencies my personal experience on: December 24, 2017, 02:43:06 AM
you are missing 2 very important facts:
1. these are withdrawal fees not network fees or what you are calling "tx cost". it means what you paid are what the exchanges charged you and it usually has nothing to do with the network fee. and you are telling them in USD! if these altcoins were also worth 15,000+ then their fees would have been big too in USD.

2. you can't even compare altcoin transaction fees with bitcoin! and it is pretty simple, bitcoin is used to its maximum capacity and then some and then on top of it, bitcoin is being spam attacked.
in comparison, altcoins are not used, their blocks are empty and their networks unused, and finally there are not spam attacks.
when comparing bitcoin with each of these altcoins you must compare them under same circumstances.
1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything on Coinbase RED except for BCH on: December 24, 2017, 02:30:37 AM
LOL, you are just advertising what you are bag-holding. nothing more. and doing it with a big ass lie

here are the stats:
DigitalNote: 100%
Centra: 79%
Verge: 70%
Ardor: 56%
Dent: 56%
DigiByte: 47%
PIVX: 44%
NXT: 40%
......
BCH: 9%

so yeah, EVERYTHING is in red and BCH is the best investment with biggest rise among all.... /S
1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will lightning network be added to Bitcoin? on: December 24, 2017, 02:27:00 AM
unfortunately i don't think it will be here soon. it takes time to develop and then test and release it.
and that is not all the problem. the adoption of it later on when it was released is the  bigger problem. similar to SegWit and its adoption now i expect the same thing happening with Lightning Network. the big places like Coinbase won't add that either for a long time. and when the adoption doesn't happen, nothing will change.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The First DPOS Lightning Bitcoin Hard Fork is on the Way on: December 23, 2017, 10:46:59 AM
another forked-coin Lightning Bitcoin is coming on the way.

Fork at Block 499,999

The new project Lightning Bitcoin (LBTC) will fork at block 499,999 on or around December 23, 2017.

you are talking about this in future tense as if it is going to happen in the future.
but the data you are giving us is for the past. a long way in the past.
block 499,999 was mined 5-6 days ago on 2017-12-18 18:34:47

currently bitcoin is at block height 500,675 and growing.

ps. since this is an altcoin i suggest moving it to appropriate board if you don't want it to be deleted.
1365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hidden coin on coinmarketcap on: December 23, 2017, 10:37:26 AM
it is because how the market capitalization is being calculated.

Code:
Market Cap. = Supply * Price

when you don't have one of these variables you can not have the Market Cap either and these coins do not have a clear supply.

i am not familiar with these to tell you why but i remember they didn't have M.C. for BTG because it wasn't started yet to mine and also because back then they had to do a premine of 200,000 BTG so it was not clear how much the supply of it should have been.
as soon as it became clear, they filled in the variables and BTG had a market cap.
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get in while you still can!! on: December 23, 2017, 10:31:27 AM
haha, forbes needs to hang around more in coinmarketcap which they used in their article so that they can see rises like 500% in a week are literary nothing. they happen every week in this market when the manipulators pump each altcoin in turn.

the real question we should be asking is why  did they choose this particular one out of hundreds to write an article about?!!
1367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin. Now it's all about the buyers on: December 23, 2017, 10:21:59 AM
The whales and institutions are idiots. They would have collected more coins if they had organised the correction at Christmas. Nearly everyone invested in Btc would be able to watch the market, more people to panic sell the bottom.

it depends on your point of view actually!
more people to watch means more people to buy bitcoin when they see a big drop too. and that will also create more of a resistance, some kind of prevention for going lower.
the less people means thinner orderbook, less orders to be placed to create that prevention and an easier way to manipulate the price.
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do not people use sewgit address? on: December 23, 2017, 10:14:44 AM
because majority of wallets have not yet implemented SegWit. i am not a core user (so correct me if i am wrong) but even in bitcoin core there is no "easy" way for regular users to create a SegWit address. in other words it is not as user friendly.
other major wallets like Coinbase, blobkchain.info and lots of desktop wallets have not yet released new versions to enable SegWit.

some of them that did release it like Electrum, it takes time for people to upgrade to those new versions.

and finally when you have funds in a regular (legacy?) address and you want to move to SegWit you need to transfer your funds, and that requires paying a huge fee based on the current mempool status.
1369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin prices continue to rise? until what price? on: December 23, 2017, 10:08:31 AM
it is not final, that is for sure.
for the time being there are a lot of FUD and lot of people are afraid to buy back the bitcoin they have sold in the dip of yesterday. and also with the current fees and all the FUD about that with the spam attacks, etc people aren't so happy about bitcoin to invest in it.

but things will not stay this way for long. and as soon as price consolidation ends at this level the next series of rises will begin and the same story will be repeated.
1370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How would you invest $30000 into Cryptocurrency? on: December 22, 2017, 10:53:49 AM
you need to take a couple of very important steps.
1. think first to see if you can afford to lose $30k, if not invest smaller.
2. understand the risks of investing in altcoins, also the risks of using exchanges that may run away at any moment with your money.
3. think ahead what you are going to do after you have invested in them. where will you keep these coins? on exchanges or a wallet?
4. and finally learn what pump and dump means.

the i invest in cryptocurrencies is that i have invested my money all in bitcoin, then i only invest in the altcoins for short term and only will stay in them while they are getting pumped not a moment longer.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin founder Charlie Lee sells all his litecoins on: December 22, 2017, 10:36:40 AM
now i am convinced that Charlie Lee is trying to manipulate the price and cover his tracks by pretending and saying he is not manipulating it.

you can see that it has already taken its effect on litecoin price and i am sure he had his short positions set up before making that tweet. saying "i don't have short positions" doesn't mean he really doesn't. and it was kind of predictable that LTC would get dumped like this after its big pump.
1372  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think on bitcoin going down? How much will it lower down? on: December 22, 2017, 10:27:17 AM
What do you think on bitcoin going down?
it is the usual big correction so far. price dropped about 35% and reached the bottom. if it stays here and goes back up in a couple of days then i will consider this the bottom. and it will be like every other time bitcoin dropped about 30% after a big rise.

Quote
How much will it lower down?
my hope is that it goes back to $10,000 so i can buy more of it because i currently have some funds ready to be invested but i don't think it will go any lower than $12,500
1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies in Panic More: Five Reasons for the End-Of-Year Crash on: December 22, 2017, 10:20:53 AM
dear ThrowAway account,
here's how futures trading on CME works.
- you can not use it whenever price is dropping hard.
- when the price has dropped more than 7% they close the market!
- whales who want to short, do it on exchanges that have been offering this feature for years without the 7% limitation.

have a nice day creating new accounts.
1374  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does the bubble already burst? on: December 22, 2017, 10:14:15 AM
there was never a bubble to want to burst. unless you can $19666 as a bubble and its burst to end at $14000 then you are absolutely right, the bubble burst and it was over.

the fall that you currently are witnessing is because of the panic sellers and the FUD and also the fact that bitcoin fees are increasing at an alarming rate. none of these are good for bitcoin price.
1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 281133 unconfirmed transactions, fees > 1000 satoshis/byte on: December 22, 2017, 10:06:08 AM
And the number still increases: https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

Who cares about bitcoin it's already history , smart people already sold this 10 year old technology. It's like paying $15k for Windows 95 in 2017 lol
Don't be stupid please. Bitcoin is regularly updated so it's just not right to say that. What other alternative you have ? Everyone is talking about BCH low fees blah blah but it's just Bitcoin with tweaked settings and I guess if you care about fees it fixes that. There are good alternatives (BCH does not belong here) but they will never be as popular or accepted by community as Bitcoin. Thats a fact.

I agree to you BCH now is in the hot topic everyone exchange to bch because of it low fee and fast transaction compare to bitcoin with lot of unconfirmed transaction but I believe this case will resolve soon I hope hahahaha xD
Still waiting for more people who create topic will this unconfirm transaction Cheesy

the problem with this statement is that things won't last good for bitcoin cash forever. bitcoin cash is also the same as bitcoin with only bigger blocks and they actually increased it suddenly to 8 MB instead of a smaller size first in order to say we don't have the problem.

and since bitcoin cash is not going to implement any solution like Lightning Network, it is doomed to fail.
1376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin founder Charlie Lee sells his holdings in the cryptocurrency on: December 21, 2017, 10:16:35 AM
this is a weird announcement in my opinion because of many reasons.

i can see why he would say he has sold all of his LTC. as the article also mentions. but also it may be out of fear of being targeted. having a lot of something that is worth $4 is nothing but having a lot of the same thing that goes to nearly $400 can put you at risk.

also i don't get why "all". a developer in my opinion needs to have some stake in his own creation. having some LTC means the LTC developer believes in what he has created.
1377  Economy / Economics / Re: How to actively participate in the crypto economies on: December 21, 2017, 09:57:13 AM
crypto currencies in general are not really currencies so you can not use them anywhere to purchase anything ever. there may be some extremely rare use cases for a handful of them but since transactions are not reversible those are not to be trusted since they are small and without prior history.

as for bitcoin there are lots of use cases, you can purchase many things from digital to physical stuff with bitcoin both online and offline. although this past 2 months it is becoming harder and harder to consider bitcoin as a currency though because of the higher fees.
1378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is going down. on: December 21, 2017, 09:48:42 AM
Bitcoin will adjust downwards and then further increase to 20,000-25,000 USD. But many people will favor switching to the top 20 coin

nobody who really understands cryptocurrency ever favors moving away from bitcoin to any of the altcoins specially the top 20 coins be cause they are the most broken of all.

what they do is that they go there to participate in their pumps in order to increase their stake in bitcoin and they will dump each and every one of them to get out.
of course there are other newbies who fall for the fake advertisement and invest in them and become bag holders who lose money.
1379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners will now remove your profits on: December 21, 2017, 09:39:02 AM
Miners will now remove your profits

how much did you invest in bitcoin? $1?
normal person invest at least a couple of hundred dollars. lets say $100. in a month price has gone up more than 100% which means your investment is now worth $200+

how much do you pay for fees? $12? $16? $30 (that is 900 satoshi/byte)?
my math is not good but i think $30 is bigger than $100 profit!!!
1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Store of Value: Is That Enough for Bitcoin? on: December 21, 2017, 09:33:27 AM
with many of these problems existing for a long time that we are really wondering why it took so long for the solutions to arrive.
the solutions were there for a very long time, or did you miss the ~3 year old scaling debate?
the issue was to reach a solution that everyone agrees about and also at the same time keep bitcoin decentralized and not lead to centralization like increasing the blocks and making it impossible for regular people to run full nodes in the near future and centralize them.

We are always told that Bitcoin is a store of value, just like its real and physical gold counterpart. But the question is: Is that enough for Bitcoin to continue in rising in terms of value and popularity?

no it definitely is not.
in my opinion the only reason why anyone ever pays any attention to bitcoin for long term is because it is a currency. otherwise the short term attentions and any value due to them is useless.
