241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: April 18, 2016, 08:14:55 PM

https://www.reddit.com/r/ziftrCOIN/comments/4cghiz/the_first_of_many_updates_from_the_gocoin_team/

"we’ll be using the 300 million pre-mined coins for giveaways and promotions with our merchants. At this point the Redemption Guarantee ($1 or 5%) will be active with participating merchants."

Basically making any of the current coins people have mined worthless. Although with a measly $25,000 market cap and 12,773,630 in circulation one could argue that the coin is already worthless.

This coin has been neglected for over a year by those that released it.  They got their btc from the presale and have done nothing since.  Their merger with gocoin is no excuse for neglecting the people that may have invested in this coin well over a year ago.  The lack of communication shows they don't care.  And why should they?  They got their btc and that was the purpose of ziftrcoin from the beginning..

Uh...the giveaway was planned from day one, before the genesis block was even mined. That's been the plan all along, and it's what will give the coin value as a currency. They don't have to rely on hype, speculators and bubbles to give it a perception of value...they'll give it value by making it reliably valuable, and that's what the redemption minimum is about. Seeing that you can save $5 on a purchase if you buy 5 GoCoin to do it with, and with GoCoin trading for pennies, it would make sense to MOST people to go ahead and buy some to hang onto and use. If it gains value while you're holding it, great...but you know that you'll be able to redeem them for $1 each with GoCoin merchants. So it's a win/win. If enough people see that, then the price will climb due to demand. It won't happen fast, it's not probably going to be a bubble, but I still believe it's going to grow over time, and through use. If it gains enough popularity, though, and the price starts to climb at a decent speed, you'd better believe the speculators will see it. That can be a catalyst...especially because if it reaches $1 or more, they've stated there won't be a limit to how much of it you can spend.

This coin will derive its value from places that most crypto enthusiasts are not used to it coming from: Its use as a currency.

Oh whatever.  The damn giveaway is now months overdue.  The initial value of the coin after the ico is pennies on the dollar.  You can potentially save $5 using gocoin at participating merchants.  How many merchants are going to want to bother with some obscure altcoin?  Most don't even accept bitcoin which is the most widely used and known about cryptocurrency.  And how is it a win/win for the people that bought at the ico or the people that used resources to mine the coin that is now worth significantly less than what it cost to mine or buy?

The coin has basically been abandoned except for an occasional bi-monthly pop in to say they're working on integrating this and that and blah blah blah.  Things like the block explorer no longer work.  The coin has been delisted from most exchanges.  There is no activity in the thread.  Nobody cares about this coin.  You can say anything you want but the facts speak for themselves.

I'm not trying to attack you personally.  I am just disgusted with these people that launch ico's, get their btc and then disappear leaving investors to watch any value they had evaporate.  They never mentioned that after they collected all that btc that everything would be put on hold for some merger that they decided to make.  They basically have told people to fuck off we're busy and don't give a damn.

What is the point sending a PM over at bitcoingarden again? If you are on the list already do you need to confirm your address again?

It probably makes it easier to go through PM's rather than all the pages of the thread and some people didn't post their address in the thread.  That's just my take on the matter.  It may or may not be correct.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ANN | Espers [ESP] | New Algo | New Features In Development | Reverse-ICO | on: April 18, 2016, 04:25:48 PM
i have not encrypted my wallet, but when trying to create new address on a wallet it ask me for a passphrase.
i dont know it. what should i do?

please guys. were can i find that passphrase?
i have not set it.

I believe you are talking about signing a message.
Go to FILE>SIGN MESSAGE and that should take you to the prompt you are looking for.

edit.
If not then you may be talking about wallet encryption. in which case hit SETTINGS>ENCRYPT WALLET

hope this has been helpful
NO. i am not about that. i have downloaded new wallet. and i want to receive Espers from giveaway, but when trying to create a new receiving address they ask me for a passphrase, and the i can see message unable to unlock a wallet.
i havent locked it at all. so how do i know my passphrase if i have downloaded simply fresh wallet?

Did you use a previous version of the Espers wallet software?  If so then that's the password you use.  The new wallet software uses the same wallet.dat file you already had.
245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Announcing ZiftrCOIN Release on: April 17, 2016, 08:01:32 PM
there is an assumption that will change the Protocol and get a different principle of construction and distribution of coins, because the coin is not mine and if at least the numbers on coinmarketcap does not change for a long time and depends on where and was never produced, no trade on the exchanges, but if my assumptions are not correct, then this coin is dead

Wow...Google Translate fail.

Anyway, if by "dead" you mean "not in a parabolic move thanks to pump and dumpers" then yes, it's dead.

If by "dead" you mean "no prospects for widespread adoption and use as a currency" then no, it's probably the coin with the highest potential for widespread adoption...and in my opinion, it has THE highest potential for it (yes, including Bitcoin). There is a plan to get it into peoples' hands, to encourage its use, to create incentives surrounding it. None of which any other coin's backers have the ability to do. It was created with the express purpose of getting people to use it...not relying on speculators and "pumping" to create imaginary value that people would hopefully chase on the pump.

Other coins rely on a press release saying they've introduced some new bell or whistle to get a little pump for speculators to cash in on...or they celebrate one new soap vendor who decided to take it in payment. The growth has been atrocious over the past couple of years. GoCoin has a plan to get people actually using this coin, and it is through USE that it will gain value. That's the one and only reason Bitcoin has value today - it was put to use, thanks to the undernet markets. If it never gained a use as currency, people would still be trading it for fun to order pizzas. It would be nowhere. But Bitcoin has a LOT of work ahead of it, to become a truly spendable currency and there is no way to grease those wheels. GoCoin has the means to encourage the use of its coin because they are also the payment processor, and they already have a large network of merchants using them. When they can do credit card processing, that number is going to skyrocket. And every person who uses a credit card to buy something with a merchant that uses GoCoin may end up with GoCoin in their wallet to spend on their next purchase. For those people, GoCoin will be the face of cryptocurrency...not Bitcoin.  Are you serious?

Bitcoin has been built solely on the backs of the people who evangelize and support it. GoCoin will not have that difficulty...they will rely on circulation and use to grow. Which is why I believe wholeheartedly that this coin has the potential to be more successful than any other coin as a currency, in the long term.  But it's not intended to be used as a currency.  It's purpose is to be used as a coupon Specifically because they DON'T rely on evangelism or crypto fanboy support.

The same Chris Bates from the prozcoin ico?  That sure doesn't give anyone any confidence in this.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740383.0

We would like to officially announce the Coin Proz project is coming to an end. We appreciated all the support we had for the project but we are unable to continue working on it. The bitcoin we raised from the token sale was used to re-develop coinproz.com Until recently we have tried to find ways to keep the project alive. Now the entire team has decided to close the project officially.

In October we were starting to run low on Bitcoin to help fund our Developer. The team continued to look for additional ways to raise capital to continue developing coinproz.com. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in raising significant additional development capital.

We had ambitious plans of creating an all encompassing social media site for the crypto community and we were stretched too thin financially. We appreciate all the support from the community and we are sorry we could not deliver the project we had envisioned.

The team cannot afford to keep working on the Coin Proz project but we open up the offer to let someone from the community to take it over what Shannon has created. If interested or you have questions please email Tim Frost at coinproz@gmail.com or Shannon Code at genecyber@gmail.com regarding taking over the project.

Here is a breakdown on how the bitcoin was distributed.
We received a total of 56.6 Bitcoin from Prozcoin token sale.
31 Bitcoin worth $12,000 Shannon Code received to develop coinproz.com
12 Bitcoin was used for refunds and buyback for Proz
5.5 Bitcoin was compensation to other team members for contribution
The balance was used to pay for operational costs and payment of debt

Anyone who has any Prozcoin needs to remove it from C-CEX by June 30. Any prozcoin remaining on there will never be recovered. An email will be sent out to all accounts that hold Prozcoin on C-CEX to notify them.

You all killed this project.

You are not "shareholders", and to act like you are is either disingenuous or displays an extreme lack of understanding.

After all this time, only two people have ever contacted our team beyond this thread.  None of you ever wanted this project to succeed, so stop pretending.

You don't talk to grown men like this, and expect a positive response right?

As far as I'm concerned, anyone still posting in this thread is just doing it out of pure malice.

Chris

Haha haha ohhhhhh I definitely need that one. Cheesy
You sir are great!

Need turotial step by step  how to mine here Wink
https://www.vultr.com/

Several users have requested a Linux compile guide.
We are in the process of creating one. Excuse the delay we are working as quickly as possible. This should be completed today.

Here ya go:

Code:
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install build-essential libtool autotools-dev autoconf pkg-config libssl-dev
sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
sudo apt-get install libdb++-dev
sudo apt-get install git

git clone https://github.com/CryptoCoderz/Espers/

cd Espers/src
mkdir obj
chmod -R 777 leveldb
make -f makefile.unix -j32

That works for Ubuntu 14.04. Wallets aren't portable because of libdb version.

You can build with the correct version of libdb by replacing

Code:
sudo apt-get install libdb++-dev

with

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev

Then your wallet should be compatible with the Windows binaries.

Wow! Thank you! You saved us a lot of time. We'll post this to our website and link it in the ANN OP.

Now we can focus on those wallet features we promised today.

Will also add a little to it for how to create the config and setup the daemon. Just minor touches. If must of the team including myself weren't stuck at work most of the day progress would be even faster. Still the way this community is banding together is just awesome. Thanks guys.

Wow!

This coin is still CPU and you've got some people interested.  Glad I kept mining.  I was skeptical at first but I still don't see a GPU.  Good job.

i just posted once on bitcoingarden, and was your reverse ico post...Hope im not out...

No no you're not out. We have a brain and can discern nonsense from legitimate. Smiley

It's not new garden accounts that are an issue. It's the submissions tied to then that we look at. If one has zero posts in  Twitter for instance and just made an account for this then you will most likely not be considered, if you have aFacebook account that actually has activity for example use that instead of creating afresh social media account to prevent being excluded

Well that's no good.  I have maybe two followers on twitter and none on reddit yet I posted on both those accounts.  Both accounts are at least a year old.  Not recently made.  Will I be denied a share of the reverse ICO because I'm not popular?

Please understand that HOW RECENTLY YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CREATED IS FACTORED, If your account isn't brand new then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. We are reasonable people and want everyone to have a piece of the pie.

If there is anyone that mined on my pool 104.156.253.111 that isn't going to be mining anymore and has a pending payout of less than 1 NPT let me know and I will send them out.  I don't want to keep your coins.  You mined them.

your pool will  be colsed ?
bad news ...
and Why don't you stick to it

Not closing the pool just want to make sure people get their coins.  I have a 1 coin minimum payout and there are many that haven't mined for almost a month that are below that threshold.  I'll just send out payments to anyone who hasn't mined in two weeks and send out the small payments again after a couple weeks.  I don't want their coins.  They don't belong to me.

Glad to see everybody is not dead !

What is the main goal of the donation pot ? I can give too but I want to know why before  Grin

The purpose of the donation pot is to get APT listed on an exchange, pay for the block explorer, fund a decent website, and provide incentive for development.

I don't think many people realize that this is a CPU coin.  If they did they would likely be mining it.

I'm working on getting this coin listed on an exchange.

It's already on the voting list at c-cex but I'm not going to pay the .35 to beat the current leader.  If you want to help get the coin listed then vote for it at https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

What is the problem requiring difficulty re-targeting?  We're already using Apt-Curve, which was designed specifically for this coin.  I'm not aware of further shortcomings.

I have never heard of yobit.  Can anyone else vouch for them being legitimate and not a scam?  How long have they been around?

If everyone thinks it's a good idea, I'm supportive of you or someone else starting a donation pot.  I will donate some too, although I'm skeptical of this exchange because I've never heard of them.  Maybe I'm behind and they're great.  Let me know what others think?

It seems like you get stuck on a high n-factor of 12 or 13 for a long time then when you solve a block it drops significantly and you find several blocks rapidly and then the n-factor goes back up significantly then a block and lower n-factor a couple blocks and repeat.   A smoother change in n-factor would be nice.  I'm just mining this now and then to help keep the chain viable for now until hopefully some new development comes along.

Edit:

I've started a donation pot and funded it with an initial 30.000 APT http://45.32.67.42/address/AWPdaDQAgN5xrMMiY9rAb1CPPqG2b6E45e

If you want to donate and have an issue with me holding the donation coins we can look for someone else to hold them.  But lets get that donation total over 100.000 so we have enough to do something with.

Hello,

Just returned back home from a long trip working on a project.
Can you increase the Bounty for explorer? I can get you a working explorer in about 6hrs or less.
I will have to Modify your RPC Server and a couple of files to add that functionality

You can check my test pool below and let me know if you are willing to increase Bounty.
http://185.45.192.46/website

#lulw0rm

Can you share the source when you collect the bounty if it's based on my code? (it's with GPLv2 license)

Surely, It's opensource, Idea borrowed from the forknote project [ https://github.com/forknote/forknote-pool ].

Nice.

Would the block explorer have search functionality?   It would also need api access for acquiring total coin data.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BBR] Boolberry: Privacy and Security - Guaranteed[Bittrex/Poloniex]GPU Released on: April 14, 2016, 06:18:42 AM

I have had recent discussions with CZ and he has intimated to me that once Lui is launched he is interested in bringing enhanced features to BBR, some of which he is developing for Lui. Meanwhile he recommended to me another cryptonote developer that he says is highly skilled. I have spoken to this gentleman who has expressed interest. However this developer wanted clear directions from the community about where we wanted to take BBR. I posted a request for community feedback a week or so ago, but so far the only response I received on here was from a couple of Monero trolls that for some reason still read this thread.

I am just a messenger. But its up to the community what we want to do. I am willing to help, but I can't do it on my own.

Jon

I think DB implementation is a good starting point.  Another feature that would be nice would be the ability to change the wallet password on current wallets.  Boolberry has Aliases and there isn't any method that I'm aware of to change the password on those unique wallets.  Going forward it would be nice to have a mnemonic seed generated with new wallets so you could change the password by using the mnemonic seed to recreate the wallet.

Another thing that would be a nice addition would be the GPU solo mining with the daemon like MBK has implemented https://github.com/mbkuperman/boolberry-opencl   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=693118.msg8339439#msg8339439

Hmm, it seems like the c11 sgminer links are no longer working.

Here's tpruvot ccminer source  https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer  It mines c11/chaincoin.

I think I downloaded the sgminer source at one time but I'll have to locate it.  I'll let you know if I find it.

May I know what cpu u have ? My i5 2410m couldn't find shit for the whole night !!

i7-4700HQ 2.4GHz Haswell

It's a Republic of Gamers laptop I bought a few years ago.  It's running pretty hot but I have it on a Cooler Master and it's staying about 85C.  That's hot but the CPU is rated up to 100C.  I just bought a new one so this one is a spare.  These laptops are more powerful than most desktops and have 17" screens.  Definitely worth the money if you're a road warrior like me and need to travel with a decent computer.  Haven't found a block on it for quite some time now.  Although I went for hours without any blocks and then found four in the course of 45 minutes.  Just gotta keep mining.  All my other comps are busy with other coins.

260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ANN | Espers [ESP] | New Algo | New Features In Development | Reverse-ICO | on: April 14, 2016, 04:02:30 AM
And here is the miner:

https://github.com/ocminer/cpuminer-hmq1725

Use with:

./cpuminer -a quark -o stratum+tcp://esp.suprnova.cc:3451 -u suprnova.1 -p x

You can also solo-mine to your wallet.

And I want to be honest: The probability there is already a GPU miner is pretty high, I've checked the algos and there are already modules for Nvidia/AMD for them, so somebody just has to "rework" the quark algo in ccminer/sgminer, chain the correct modules and "voilla"...

Ya think?

New algo normally = private miner

These assumptions are nausiating. We created a custom algorithm to level the playing field. And yes we are TOTALY raping the chain with 50k per block. C'Mon peoplle get real here.

I wasn't trying to cause you any nausea.  It's just that there have been many coins claiming to be cpu only that had a private gpu miner at launch or shortly after.  After observing the hashrate for awhile I am satisfied that there is not a gpu miner for this coin at this time.

I signed up for the giveaway and am mining using a spare desktop.  I'm finding blocks here and there.  I think you should think about reducing the number of the coins for the giveaway to 10% and burn the other 10%.  That would remove 50.25 billion coins and make the 5 billion used for the development fund about 50% of the giveaway.  That benefits the development team as their holdings are not as diluted.  Also, giveaways are very hard to verify and there are always those using multiple accounts to game the system.  You also risk losing miners once all those coins are released for the giveaway.  And I am a firm believer that miners are the backbone of any successful cryptocurrency.
