241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for Advice on buying 16-20" window cooling fan in CANADA on: November 24, 2016, 11:35:31 AM
Can't you just wait another month until the snow falls and -30C weather ?

Also I use the same crappy $25 fans as you and they never vibrate. You can take them apart and lubricate the bearing and see if it fixes any issues.

I added a filter on intake to prevent the snow from coming in and one without for exhaust (but i want to put one on both to sorta hide the Boxfan during the winter).

I have to run them on max for the farm not to overheat. They hum like a old fridge and they barely pull any air through the filter. One is only 1 month~ old as the one before just died.

The farm get at >80C with near maxed gpu fan speed with -10C outdoor temp.
242  Bitcoin / Hardware / Looking for Advice on 16 to 20" INDUSTRIAL window fan in CANADA on: November 24, 2016, 11:24:18 AM
I'm currently venting with two 20" plastic crapbox, you know the box fans you get for 15-20$ at... well everywhere. I'm looking for an upgrade, because these fans vibrate like crazy but move very little air, most likely due to their horrible static pressure. (Wind blowing against basically stop these)

I mine in an appartment currently so i have to minimize low shaking vibration to not annoy the neighbors.

The only thing i can find is the Lasko b20725 20" box. I would have to import it from the US. Takes time and money. Worth it?
http://www.laskoproducts.com/20-metal-box-fan-model-b20725/

-So is there an alternative i missed that i could get better/quicker from Canada?

-In the case not, if i am to import and pay a hefty premium anyways, is there something better i can get? (Good airflow and pressure, setting with lowest noise/shaking as possible)

Plus, he dislikes linux, because many things are harder to do
Just to say about that line...Coin always has 2 sides...it may be harder for you...but not for others.

He meant harder for Claymore to develop on Linux.

That's unfortunate, a new Silentarmy fork released today, which work on Linux and is faster than Claymore 4.0...
244  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] GPU Mining Rig (Amazing Deal) on: November 07, 2016, 01:59:06 AM
This is actually a pretty good deal. Good luck with sale

Yeah, This stuff was all left over from my GPU mining days and I recently found it in a box. Price wise this can not be beat!

BIN. I shall await your PM.
245  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Antminer s7 still profitable? on: October 24, 2016, 12:26:10 AM
go to the altcoin section?can you please tell me more about that how to earn with altocins pleasee

Yeah i said to go to the altcoin section because its sorta forbidden to talk about not Bitcoin on the specifically Bitcoin section. But you'd be using GPUs.
246  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Antminer s7 still profitable? on: October 23, 2016, 10:39:43 PM
I wouldnt even buy an ASIC with such high electric costs Sad You're at the borderline, where even if its profitable, all your profits will go to upkeep. Better go to the altcoin section.
247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does ETHOS and Saphire RX480 Nitro modded bios Work? on: October 23, 2016, 08:12:02 PM
Because the drivers on Linux is different from the one on Windows. Alright i'm waiting to hear back from you running it on Ubuntu, thanks.
248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does ETHOS and Saphire RX480 Nitro modded bios Work? on: October 23, 2016, 07:53:11 PM
It does. ethOS support is that way ; http://ethosdistro.com/kb/#support

I doubt you got the cards hashing on Ubuntu at the same speed as Windows. Can you show me your 29mhs on Ubuntu 16.04 ?
249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked in VDDC in 480 REF Bios. Card reach 31mhs at 130w on: October 21, 2016, 01:30:05 AM
Hitting 30 on a 480x is normal and via your screen capture it shows only being able to hit 31 and not a constant 31. I do wish you luck in selling it. If you could sell it let me know so i can sell to these farm bozo too...

Again, i am NOT selling this BIOS.

The RX 480s easily go higher than 31mhs, this isint what i'm showing to people. The volt mod is to be added to anyone's favorite ROM, to save power. You may have not noticed its at a mere 2200 mem?

Changing VDDC on the ROM is unrelated to the hashrate, which is dependent on the memory. I guess you probably have not realized, but there's no point in showing off the MHs, since unless you're editing memory timings (You're not), the hashrate you can get is up to the card's silicon lottery, not the user's skills.

And when you have 500 Cards, that amount to how much? We serve GPUs on ethOS in the numbers of 5 digits, and that's only a small portion of the ETH network. O.O

ethOS is good for R9 cards, but with RX cards sucks.
What mhs (and  what power consumption) it has under ethOS 1.1.2 ?

I won't lie, but its not "ethOS" its the linux driver stack, so the -2 to -3 mhs on Linux is universal. The most i have seen/got is 29mhs on Linux and 32.5mhs on Windows (about same watts at that ratio).

We're at the mercy of AMD on that one, hopefully their linux team reach performance parity before long.

A lot of people still use ethOS for them... because setting up and managing 200 windows rig is a bit of a pain. But for a small-time hobby miner, it's understandable to edge toward a windows rig and its nice little tools.
250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked in VDDC in 480 REF Bios. Card reach 31mhs at 130w on: October 20, 2016, 09:52:14 PM
My RX 470 4GB get 128W from the wall running at 28.5MH/s mine ETH only.

I am pretty sure if I had the 8GB model I would be able to reach 31mhs at around a similar power consumption.

All I had to do is strap the bios and lower the VDDC to like 850mV.

Why the 8GB model can do better? I thought the memory size does not matter. Does the 8GB have higher memory frequency?

there is more faster memory chips

Correct... They put Hynix(or worse) in most of the 4gb's, which perform at quite lower mem clock than the Samsung mem you can find in the 8g's...
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked in VDDC in 480 REF Bios. Card reach 31mhs at 130w on: October 20, 2016, 02:28:03 AM
Not sure what you mean about the speed and I am guessing the bios has a vddc offset.

I got a crude one, but i get 0.5MH/s~ more at same clocks vs using the existing 1625 or 1750 straps. I only know one person that daddles in making his own straps. Even more Niche.

I get 5mhs across my few rigs using it (its not world shattering), so its there more for showing off one's (Wolf0's) skills.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked in VDDC in 480 REF Bios. Card reach 31mhs at 130w on: October 20, 2016, 02:10:03 AM
Nice work on the bios.  Cheesy

I wasn't saying it is a bad idea, $1000/month savings is great if the cost of the bios is less than you save.  Although I would say it would be hard to sell for much since there are so many bios available free.

But that is a nice bios

Maybe there's not much demand... maybe there is. I haven't seen a free bios with either the speed mod or the volt mod in. Smiley

I've done a mod for someone;

And the one i've been asked to share the most so far, for 380x;

253  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] H81 PRO with CPU, 4GB memory and PCIE risers on: October 20, 2016, 01:16:55 AM
Are you asking me to ship it to you first, then you will send payment after you get it and make sure it works?

PM me.  Smiley

Yeah pretty much. I PMed you.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked in VDDC in 480 REF Bios. Card reach 31mhs at 130w on: October 20, 2016, 01:14:56 AM
How bout a screenshot of the GPU draw on either GPU-Z or HWinfo  Wink  And a pic of the hashrate after 30min to an hour.   Thanks

I have been been running it for two days on several rigs. And the GPU-z value doesnt mean much, but here;

I don't see how this is a big deal, I can use watt tool to set the voltage offset manual for any 480 card myself as low as is tolerable for the system
some cards I have as low as a 150v offset and I get 120 watts DUAL mining on those

Anyone who pays for these voodoo bioses is a dum fk

If you don't understand, it just mean you're not part of the mining game. What if, you don't use windows? What if, you want this to be on 300 Rigs?

I agree, any bitcoin/eth paid for a bios will be hard to recoup mining.  I think its $2/card/month savings from 160w to 130w at 31mh

I used to think 480s were pretty good, when we were doing 27mhs at 165w. Now i get 31mh/130w at the wall, wow. Smiley

Shitty screen D: But you can see the important part... VDDC lowered by ~0.1v, hard modded into the BIOS. (Thanks Heliox/Wolf0)

RIP 290/390 2016.

Can you share the ROM?

Hello ps_jb.

So far i've only shared/sold ROMs with difficult mods privately to farm owners. For this ROM specifically, it has mods in it i don't own, so no can do either way.

Anyhow i'm just showing off the VDDC section. I think its interesting to know what the cards can do.

P.S.; If you need a ROM for rx 480 REFERENCE, I posted one for Everyone here;

Its probably not an interesting offer but, i can give you your price, if it include shipped to Canada, after i've verified the mobo kit work. Good luck with your sale.

You want to sell an old, obsolete card, not including shipping costs+etc for its retail price (which has free shipping) ?

They go for 130$+ new, I'm willing to drop down to 80$+free shipping. Just want to get rid of the card.

Hello again. I didnt want to crap on your thread too much, as they call it... its just for that price you can get a used r7 370 2G. I would not pay 40$ for it, you may be able to find a buyer for 50? Anything more, might as well buy from retail and get 2-3 years warranty.

Asabeb outlined what i vaguely said pretty clearly. Even at your second asking price, retail is still cheaper. Best of luck.
