@Darthswan,

which contact method did you try?  They are currently assisting others as this is being posted.
242  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: May 05, 2015, 09:07:57 PM
antpool.com seems to have connection issues.  We see well over one thousand miner can't connect at the moment from USA.

Anyone else having trouble getting to either bitmain.com or antpool.com right now?  I can't get their pages to load.

My miners seem to be mining there ok, but I was wanting to check the luck stats.

243  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4+ Discussion and Support Thread on: May 04, 2015, 05:19:10 PM
@MidwestMiner,

Can you open the top cover and video record how all the LEDs are acting to include the blue Beagle Bone led and ethernet port LED?

Red LED indicate, the system detected an error.

Please go to the System Log/Kernel Log and see if you can grab that data.

My Bitmain Antminer S4+ rebooted and now shows a solid red light only on the front. What does this mean? Solution?

LED codes:
Quote
  - The green LED will flash when mining, and the red LED will remain on while in an error or overheat state.  - Download firmware as above. Navigate to System -> Upgrade and click
"browse". Select the downloaded file and click "Flash image". Do NOT
interrupt this process or you will brick the unit.

Is it possible your unit overheated?

Possible but unlikely.

@Darthswan

send us email to support@bitmain.zendesk.com

Please attach PDF of your Bitmaintech.com order confirmation page and descrition of what is wrong with your unit.

If you have done the self diagnostic, the result would help our techs to expedite the process a bit.

@dogie,

We do not carry any U3 for RMA in USA, EU, SouthEast Asia, and Ukraine centers.

246  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AntMiner Community Edition Firmware Improvement Project on: May 03, 2015, 02:51:50 AM
To clarify, the goals of this project include integration of mainline cgminer into the firmware images.

We also want to keep the base Linux OS and other utilities up to date as much as possible

We also intend to release tested versions as firmware upgrades with full warranty support, versions that have not undergone full testing and approval would however not have warranty support.

Bitcoin Miner is a Specialty Item at the moment.  (Fortunately or Unfortunately)

Bitcoin Mining Hardware, the life span can be very short.

At least Bitmain Hardware sold directly from Bitmaintech.com is sold from Hong Kong, SAR, China.  A special district within China.

You can certainly buy from some resellers in EU.  Some of the person resells Antminer even post comments here time to time for Antminer products and also provide technical assistance.  They may be held on the EU standard but not when you buy direct from the Hong Kong Company.

Direct Sale only covers the original buyer for the 90-day warranty.

Bitmain is strive to make better and long lasting hardware every day, however, bitcoin mining hardware is still a very early stage mathmatical system that is specially build for a small nitch of market by special demand.

Please be patient with us and we will try to remain the best in Warranty when it comes to the industry standard.

P.S:
We do have S1, S2, S3, S3+, S4, S4+, S5 and U1 and U2 parts are held for Special Request from EU customers for the units that were sold from some of the local warranty centers of Bitmain USA to be compliance of the EU Consumer Protection Regulations as well as the regulations in USA.

Hope this helps a bit

250  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / AntMiner Community Edition Firmware Improvement Project on: May 02, 2015, 08:21:54 PM
With Bitmain's recent release of the source code that is needed to build AntMiner firmware images we have decided to start a community project to provide improved and customized firmware builds for all AntMiner products that use an embedded operating system. These builds will currently be built independently from the engineering group in China that releases the official builds.

Disclaimer
These builds are unofficial and WILL NOT be covered by Bitmain's warranty. Anyone using firmware builds from this project should be familiar with the relevant recovery procedures. On the S1 and S3 this means a TTL diag cable is needed and on the S2 S4 S4+ S5 and C1 a SD card and reader is required.

Once fully tested builds based off of this project may be released with warranty support but for the moment no builds here have warranty support.

Project Goals:
Improve security by testing/auditing software applications and keeping software up to date.
Keep software in sync with upstream sources as much as possible.
Improved reliability by having community software testing.
Document the software and build systems used in order to make it easier for others to contribute.
Add features to improve management monitoring and automation of large scale industrial mining farms.
Add features to make it easier for home miners to set up, configure and monitor their miners.

For reference Bitmain uses 2 primary types of controllers.
For the S1 and S3 they use a AR9331 based control card that uses the MIPS architecture with internal flash memory.
The beaglebone based controllers are ARM based and come in 2 variants.
Controllers with internal NAND flash include the S4+ and S5
Controllers that use SD cards include the S2 S4 and C1

Current Status:
S1
Firmware from S3 can be loaded but needs to be modified for compatibility.
S2
Tested but unable to hash
S3
OpenWRT firmware based off of trunk sources compiles and runs reasonably well. Source code needs to be cleaned up and tested more.
Patches need to be submitted upstream to OpenWRT for native AR9331 board support.
S4
Untested but similar to S5
S4+
Untested but similar to S5
S5
Compiles and runs without issues but needs to be brought up to date with mainline Angstrom Linux
C1
Untested but similar to S5

We have started a github repo based off of the released Bitmain source code with some cleanup.
https://github.com/AntMinerCE

Who we are looking for:
Software developers who can make improvements to the firmware.
Testers who can provide detailed bug reports and test new features/changes.

TODO List:
Setup Continuous Integration testing and automated builds.
Download server for nightly builds.
Cleanup and Document sources so that others can more easily join the project.
Bring software components up to date.
Transition to mainline cgminer.
251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Future mining powered by Tesla? on: May 02, 2015, 08:50:32 AM
interesting, with it was a bit cheaper.  May be some area, someone could qualify for the government rebate or tax rebate or some kind of comp or investment tax write offs and use it for multi-purpose to get best ROI

Best be, call the data center you are hosting your miner and request them to power it off, then call them back when the internet is back on to power it on!!

Always, it's better than sorry.

Is there any way in software to shut the miner down?

I have some remote boxes that are going to be without internet for about 8 hours tomorrow, I don't want to have them overheat.

no i dont know of any way to turn off the miner completely from software.. just reboot.

you try to SSH into the miner, and do a shutdown -t now

i dunno if that will turn it off tho.. it might put it in a limbo state where you would have to power cycle the psu to get it back on.

Different size from Gridseeds  Cry

Do these use the same power input connector as the Gridseeds, GAW and Zeus miners? I don't want to use the stock PSUs.
254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4+ Discussion and Support Thread on: May 02, 2015, 07:36:43 AM
Our first generation Miner S1 produced in October of 2013, are still hashing!
S2 released in April of 2014 are still hashing!

Warranty is 90-days, however, most hardware do last well over 1 year and S1 as an example, 18 months and still hashing!
