241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you trust non-bitcoin crypto backed 1:1 by bitcoin? on: December 15, 2020, 07:54:54 AM
There would be bitcoin in a wallet that can only be accessed by a smart contract.  That smart contract will integrate the bitcoin blockchain with another trusted blockchain provider.  You need to trust the provider (the encryption, the code) the same way you trust the blockchain.  How many here had a part in programming the Bitcoin blockchain?

Rather than paying the transaction fees for a much larger network, members can transact on a private blockchain and the network fees are paid as you move the value back to the Bitcoin blockchain.

I think your idea is very-close to or I would say exactly like - 'bitcoin sidechain'. Liquid from Blockstream is the best example of sidechain.

In Liquid network, user sends his bitcoin to the 11-of-15 multisig address held by the members of Liquid Federation. Once, his transaction has 102 confirmations, he got equivalent L-BTC on the network. He can do as much transactions as he wants on Liquid network at lower fees like you said. To get back BTC, user initiates peg-out process i.e. burn his L-BTC and request withdrawal to his BTC address. Functionary (a device held by Federation members) then verifies the output address of the user and issue the transaction.

To comment anything about your idea, I wanna know how your smart contract will work. On blockchains like ethereum, you get additional 'data' field so you can create smart contract like normal transaction without mentioning 'to' address and adding 'data' field. This will create contract address without the need of custody by anyone. But this is not possible on bitcoin blockchain. So, how would you create bitcoin contract address? Where will the keys of that address save? Who will keep custody of bitcoins received on contract address?

Assuming everything is secure with this process, what would your issues be?

In Liquid network, there is a backdoor through Timelock process. So if network is stalled for a time being, it is possible to move bitcoins with three emergency private keys. So, Liquid in true essence isn't 100% automated smart contract.

What is your solution for this? How will your contract handles payments and if consensus rule of your private blockchain doesn't meet for the period, will you keep a way-around like Liquid does?
242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ BitcoinPRBuzz.com's ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 14, 2020, 06:41:43 PM
At this rate, I don't know what to do. Spend time to make picks, no points. Pick everything randomly, no points. Wish I could see majority picks for Superbru but you can only use up free picks to do that.

You need to be more indulged in the league. For example, I don't watch Serie A much and have no idea how teams like Genoa or Benevento play so apart from 3-4 games, it would have been wild guesses for me if I joined Serie A pool. Hence, I restrained from that pool.

But La Liga for me is different, I regularly watch games for almost all La Liga teams so I can feel the soul and body of these games. Hence, I can more accurately predict La liga results than any other league. This week I spent considerable time making my picks and successfully predicted first win of the season for Huesca FC. I also predicted close-win for Sevilla and domination from Real Madrid which both turned out to be accurate as well. However, I was wrong on Barcelona (I thought they would score more) and Real Betis (whom I thought would win). But even after dominating the game, it ended in the first draw of the season for Betis.

Anyhow, on the contrary, I casually made my picks last week. I won't say those were random picks but instead of studying matches, I simply chose scorelines based on my past assessment of teams within seconds. As a result, I got well-deserved 'wooden spoon'.

So, my suggestion for you is to consider factors like head to head performances, formation home team using, how away team play in away games, is it enough to counter the home team's strategy, is any team missing major players, etc. This will hardly take 5-10 minutes but ensure more effective outcomes. Factors like current standings, performance in the league so far, etc. don't matter much. We saw this week how Eibar dominated Real Sociedad in away game.
243  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to significantly decrease the randomness of your newly generated seed phrase on: December 14, 2020, 08:13:47 AM
It's fun to read how this business attempt from Coldcard is turning into an epic fail! A pack of 100 dices to ease the process of creating entropy but no solution for determining the randomness of the dice sequence, this has to go down as one of the most absurd business ideas. Wait until I start selling a pack of 256 one-cent coins for $5.12 each. Easy money!

It's really no different to giving a user say 2048 words and saying "pick 12/24 of these" Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Well, technically it's different. Picking 12/24 words from 2048 won't work because last word includes checksum so wallets will show it as invalid seed.

Hello guys.

On 17th when dev team is back from vacation, we can make a deeper investigation then.
If it is just a coincidence or is it an alt account. Truth will come out then.
If it is not then it also definitely will come out and I let you all know.

Seriously man? This is how you wanna play out this one?

You said that your system already detected webtricks as an alt account of 'Hello I am Humb'. So, why do you need to further investigate the matter? Just post whatever basis your system chose to report me of multi-accounting. If it is just because of same browser and resolution then just accept it, if not then post the other findings. Lingering the matter just shows that you don't have any concrete proof and making it obvious that banning was more of ill-intention than actual system lapse.

Anyhow, you want more time? Okay, do whatever you wanna do with your devs and come up with your findings after 3 days. But better come up with convincing findings and/or reason for suspicion else I will simply assume that you intentionally accused me of multi-accounting for whatever reason it was for.
245  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam accusations against SupremosKaiosama (alt of Humbertin) on: December 13, 2020, 02:33:06 PM
UTC−05:00  takes in Colombia (which has been established as being Humbertin's point of origin) and Ecuador.  (or are people going to say it's UTC+05:00 which takes in Pakistan  Roll Eyes )

There is no time zone -5.5  -  Why would Webtricks have a time zone that doesn't exist?

You still trying hard, aren't you? Okay, so to disappoint you again, logs blackjack.fun provided calculate timezone using this formula: (UTC - User's Local Time). Humbertin as you pointed is from Colombia so his timezone is showing +5 (although it should have been -05:00). Whereas, I am from India so my timezone is showing -5.5 (although it should have been +05:30).

And can you stop this shit until blackjack.fun admin provides so-called personal information evidence (which I am sure was his shot in the dark) so I can conclude this matter. I am giving him benefit of doubt for another day to reasonably explain the ban and credit me additional 1 mBTC as promised (so I can request a withdrawal from the site).

Since you claim that this guy Humbertin is from Colombia, isn't that evidence that webtricks and him are not the same persons? I see that webtricks is active in Indian local board and has few posts in Hindu.

Somehow I doubt that webtricks is writing there since 2017 as a part of the disguise.

The language is called 'Hindi, not 'Hindu' but yeah, you are absolutely correct.
246  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun-Most trusted & coolest looking provably fair blackjack in Market on: December 12, 2020, 05:55:34 PM
I can share part of the info of both accounts. I cant share more because we have different ways to protect against alternative accounts and I will not share any personal information.
Can you share the full evidence with me? I've "known" Humb for years and I don't believe he's the same person as webtricks.

I would rather prefer full transparency. Post all the evidences here in the thread, @admin. I insist.
247  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam accusations against SupremosKaiosama (alt of Humbertin) on: December 12, 2020, 05:38:17 PM
... and given various humbertin alts are banned, SupremosKaiosama, PIBWORLD, TimesSquareNY and webtricks are also guilty of ban evasion.

Who do you think you are? Some kind of almighty sitting here judging other forum members' fate?

Let me get the facts straight first: You turned on notification for 'Hello I am Humb' keyword and someone posted 'Webtricks=Hello I am Humb' (I really hate when someone writes webtricks with 'w' in uppercase). You thought you got the hit, exclaimed 'Eureka' in your mind and rushed forward to give me the red trust and reported me for ban evasion. What a "responsible member" of Bitcointalk community you are, I really envy you.

Now coming back to the topic, did you even read the Blackjack.fun thread before posting here the findings? I guess not because if you read, you knew that I am the one who's accusing Blackjack for irrational banning. In the defense, Blackjack.fun's admin provided evidence that I am using same browser and screen resolution as the other user! Yeah right! Alt accusation because I am using same browser and resolution, lol. Do you think as the "responsible member" of the community that this is enough for giving red trust? Didn't you think it would be wise to wait for my reply in the thread or wait for admin to provide more evidence? Nope, how could you! You had to do what "responsible member" of the community should do in such situation, isn't it?

I know it isn't considered wise to leave retaliatory feedback but I think you deserve at least neutral feedback for coming up with this shit and wasting my time. And since you aren't DT1/DT2 why the hell do I see your red trust as default, who in my trust list thinks you are worthy to trust with such feedbacks, is it Vod? @LoyceV, here's an idea for another tool: what about a tool which tells you who in your trust list trusts/distrusts a particular user, what you say?
Nevermind, congratulations for becoming the first entry in my distrust list. To use forum on positive note, I had decided to try to keep those two distrust columns empty but not everyday is Sunday and you have to deal with the situations like this.

PS: I hope you would understand the average sarcasm I used at places in the post. And you are welcome to give me another red trust for being sarcastic.
248  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun-Most trusted & coolest looking provably fair blackjack in Market on: December 12, 2020, 04:39:39 PM
System told me that Webtricks=Hello I am Humb

I can share part of the info of both accounts. I cant share more because we have different ways to protect against alternative accounts and I will not share any personal information.

Hello I am Humb:
"timezone": 5,
~~snip

Webtricks:
"timezone": -5.5,
~~snip

Seriously! Your system detected alt accounts because two users have same browser and screen size!! LOL! Even a 12-year old can code a better anti-cheating script for you. Okay, I give you one more chance to prove how I am related to that other user. You said you don't wanna share personal information but I am insisting you to go ahead and share whatever you got. It's not like that I shared my passport with you that you are so worried about sharing in the public forum. Also I see my timezone is completely different from the other user so same IP address isn't the case too. Go ahead, share what you got so I can conclude whether you accusing me of multi-accounting is a genuine mistake or ill-intent from you.

Vary sad to see complain that I didnt give extra 1mbtc from good will after this.

Do you think I care about 1 mBTC too? But it's all about integrity. I thought your system had calculation problem, that's why I highlighted my calculation in previous post. But now I noticed that you just didn't credit me 1 mBTC for Sit & Go. But does the amount matter here? It can be 1 satoshi, it can be 1 BTC but when you clearly stated in the chat that you are creating a free tournament and I joined it solely due to your bonus promise, I fell cheated for not being credited, especially when you later come up with a fancy alt account story just because I have same browser and screen size like one of your site's serial scammer.

Fun Fact: 65% internet users use Chrome browser and I assume 30% of them have 1080p screen like me. So according to you, I have 880 million alt accounts using internet.
249  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ✅ Need a community advice. What is your opinion? on: December 12, 2020, 08:48:37 AM
Sub-domains don't matter, no one notices them mostly. I guess since you are planning to host your service on sub-domain, it isn't your primary service. So go with any of the two, what matters more is how good and accessible is your service. If you adequately advertise it and put it with explanatory title in your site's menu; people gonna click it no matter whether it takes them to monitor.coinplatform.com or rates.coinplatform.com.

251  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun-Most trusted & coolest looking provably fair blackjack in Market on: December 12, 2020, 06:56:22 AM
So blackjack.fun hosted a tournament yesterday. I noticed the special 0.001 BTC Giveaway for the first 10 bitcointalk users who would join the tournament. I liked the concept, deposited 0.00108 BTC quickly and registered for the tournament. Got credit of additional 0.001 BTC instantly in my blackjack.fun account.

Everything was going smoothly, although only 2 users joined the tournament, it was fun playing the tournament. I really enjoyed it and blackjack.fun surely has the best blackjack experience among all crypto casino (not to forget that the site has valid provably fair system).

But what happened after the tournament was horrible experience and made me decide to never play on blackjack.fun again. As soon as tournament ended, I was accused of multi-accounting by the admin:

At first I was unable to understand what does 'humb' mean. I thought it's some English word I am unaware of. But after the other guy messaged, I realized the gravity of the situation that I was accused of multi-accounting. And before I could figure out anything, I was banned from the chat. The chat ban effected my ongoing 'sit & go' tournament and I had to logout & login twice to complete that tournament.

Moreover, I think balance reflecting in my account is not correct. The admin said in the chat that he will create free 1 mBTC sit & go for the players who are playing the tournament:

So, as per my calculation:

     Balance Deposited                =  1.08 mBTC
(-) Fees for the Tournament       =  1.00 mBC
                                                 -------------
                                                   0.08 mBTC
(+) Balance from tourney          =  0.43 mBTC (I am not entirely sure but it was close to 430 uBTC)
                                                 -------------
                                                   0.51 mBTC
(+) Prize for winning tourney     =  1.00 mBTC
                                                 -------------
                                                   1.51 mBTC
(+) Reward for Bitcointalk user  =  1.00 mBTC
                                                 -------------
                                                   2.51 mBTC
(-) Fees for Sit & go                  =  1.00 mBTC
                                                 -------------
                                                   1.51 mBTC
(+) Balance from Sit & Go         =  0.06 mBTC
                                                  -------------
                                                   1.57 mBTC
(+) Winning the Sit & Go.         =   1.00 mBTC
                                                  -------------
                                                   2.57 mBTC
(+) Free credit for Sit & Go.      =   1.00 mBTC
                                                   ------------
      Final Balance                     =   3.57 mBTC

But I only see 2.59 mBTC as my balance. Hope admin will provide here the reasonable explanation for everything - why I was suddenly banned, what connection did he see between my and humb's account, why balance in my account is not as per my calculation? Else, I am never going to deposit and play again on blackjack.fun ever and recommend others to not do so as well.

2 Only send money to the exchange account (Zebpay, WazirX, etc) when you plan to sell the coins. Don't hold coins earned from bounties, etc on Exchange account where you have done KYC.
What about p2p trade? If I sell my coins to someone and get paid with paypal or directly to my Bank?

Follow the same procedure for P2P as well even if you are using P2P platform without KYC. Send the campaign earnings from your personal wallet to P2P exchange only when you are planning to sell the coins. Don't hold your campaign earnings on P2P Exchanges. However, you can hold the coins which you have purchased with the bank balance because those are subject to capital gain.

Thank you for detailed explanation. Yes I know income frome bounty and airdrops are also taxable but my concerned is about source of this income.
What can we describe as source of this income since we don't get any invoices etc.
It may be assumed that we are getting it from some illegal source or we are involved in money laundering etc. How can we safeguard ourselves from such possibilities?

Section 44AD and Section 44ADA is specially designed for small businessmen and professionals. According to the section 44ADA, if you show the profit more than 50% of your total receipts, you are discharged from maintaining books of accounts. So, for example, if you make Rs. 16,00,000 from bounties, campaigns, promotions, etc in a financial year. Then, you can simply say my profit from profession was Rs. 8,20,000 (more than 50%) and pay tax on this amount after taking deductions.

There are very less chances that Income Tax Department will poke you with notice if you are filing return under presumptive section (44ADA). But you need to take care of certain things:
1. Make sure you report the entire amount received in the bank account from bounty work as the income. (don't leave any)
2 Only send money to the exchange account (Zebpay, WazirX, etc) when you plan to sell the coins. Don't hold coins earned from bounties, etc on Exchange account where you have done KYC.
3. Don't, I repeat don't club profits made from trading of cryptocurrencies with bounty income. Show bounty income separately as 'professional income' and trading income as 'capital gain'.

If you can follow all these steps then you are good to go and needn't worry about invoices, etc. However, there are indirect taxes implications too if you are earning over Rs. 20,00,000 from these sources. If that's the case, tell me and I will explain that as well.

What about income coming from selling BTC/alts earned through airdrops and bounty campaigns?

All incomes are taxable so you have to pay tax on airdrops and bounty campaigns earnings too. Most of the members who earn through these mediums are also involved in some sort of campaigning for projects like signature or social media campaigning. I have talked to several CAs in my fraternity about this and it is general practice that they treat clients' income from these sort as 'Professional Income'. Although, section 44ADA which is meant for professionals doesn't specifically consider this work as profession but the section mentions this line:

"Other professions mentioned by the Central Board of Direct Taxes"

And CBDT mentioned 'Advertising' (code: 16006) as one of the professional income. Although, CBDT doesn't specifically explained which type of advertising but it is safe to assume that anything you earn by promoting crypto project is sort of an advertising and you are kind of professional who possess special skills for which projects pay you. So, in my views 44ADA is the best way to report such earnings. You should club your bounty earnings alongside all other forum and crypto earnings (except trading profits) and report it as professional income. Check out my this thread to learn how professional income is treated: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206607.0

Alternatively, if your amount is not much (less than Rs. 50,000), you can report it as income from other sources (freelancing income) like @pawanjain said.
258  Local / India / Re: Do you have a KYC verified account on Indian exchanges - read this! on: December 10, 2020, 03:22:44 PM
But isn't it good because this will regulate crypto trading to some extent?

Exactly! If government is planning to tax the income from trading cryptocurrencies it means they won't ban it or declare it illegal.
That's a good news. But yeah, I know it might not sound that good to pay 30% of the income as a tax.

Besides that one thing I would like to ask is what if the annual income is not under the taxable bracket ?
Would the government still tax the income from cryptocurrencies ?

What's say @webtricks ?

Like I said in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5297645.msg55775907#msg55775907, even if government decides to specifically issue guidelines for crypto taxation, it won't charge flat 30% tax from every individual who earns from cryptocurrency.

The writer of Coindesk article has misled the readers with this line:
"Some experts are anticipating a 30% tax on cryptocurrency gains and many are advising their clients to file bitcoin returns as capital gains, which are associated with stocks, according to the article. "

Maximum flat tax rate on capital gains in India right now is 20%. 30% is only charged in case of progressive income i.e. if you are earning very high income but even then long-term capital gain isn't included in progressive taxation system in India. So, 30% for every crypto income is quite misleading.

About your other question - NO, you don't have to pay tax if your total income inclusive of crypto earnings is below taxable limit. Current taxable limit is Rs. 2,50,000, if your total income is below that then no tax. Moreover, your tax payable would still be zero if you are earning upto Rs. 5,00,000 from all sources due to rebate of Section 87A. However, you will have to file income tax return of NIL tax in this case.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: security of a hardware wallet vs removing the sw-wallet app? on: December 09, 2020, 03:21:47 PM
I am wondering if and why a hardware wallet should be more secure compared to removing the wallet app(and erasing it's private key) from the mobile AND remembering the 12 word seed......

Are you talking about 'buying once and holding till selling' or 'making transactions regularly'? As @joniboini said above, you will need private key to sign transaction every time you send bitcoin to someone/somewhere.  To sign the transaction, it is required that your private keys are available in your wallet. Such private keys in the wallet will be encrypted with the password but still the security is lesser than the hardware wallet.

Or if you are just looking to store bitcoin safely offline for long period without making any transaction until you plan to move it to the other address not associated with your seed, then your method could work. Seeds are random and possible to remember as well. Speaking personally about myself, I have perfectly memorized 3 of my mnemonic seeds and there isn't any record of them except in my mind. But I don't think this is possible for everyone so I won't suggest anyone to try this. It is better to always write it somewhere and keep it safely. Also, make sure you are using open-source wallet (whose source code could be verified) and you are offline while generating the seed. There is no need to be connected to the internet while seed generation process and if your wallet insist for that, better not to use that wallet. Copy down your bitcoin address or master public key after seed generation and delete the wallet.

If you can meet all the conditions of the above paragraph then yes, your bitcoins are safe.
