241  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi I'm New Here, hope I'm welcomed. on: March 17, 2024, 07:16:10 PM
Hello everyone, I got introduced to this forum by a friend just a week ago. I've heard a lot about Bitcoin but never placed interest in it so since I'm here I hope to learn and contribute but I'll need your guidelines and resourceful materials in learning and contributing. Once again Thank you all for having me.
Of course, you're welcome. Your friend who introduced you to this forum did you a great deal of good and hopefully you put your presence here to good use. Try as much as you can to read all the sticky posts and internalize the rules and regulations of this forum so you don't become a victim of that. Ignorance of a crime isn't an excuse. Familiarize yourself with the various sections you're likely to be posting in. Above all, don't ever plagiarise anyone's content. Give credit to those whose works you use.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Altcoins Going to Dip in Short Term? on: March 16, 2024, 11:54:12 PM
My reasoning is, the whales have dumped their Bitcoin on the institutional investors/Trads in recent months as the Bitcoin ETFs have become available, but they are only seeing bag holders on the alt-coin side, and not seeing newcomers to buy alt-coins from them in order to eventually dump them on the newcomers.
I don't know where your assumptions are coming from. No one is dumping Bitcoin on anyone. What we've seen so far in the market is expected. It's called market correction. Those who got in early will always find a way of taking profit, either partially or completely with an aim to buy back cheap. This action of theirs can trigger paper hands to panic and dump without knowing why others are dumping. Anyone who's dumping Bitcoin now is doing themselves a disservice because Bitcoin is yet to experience its halving which is the main thing that makes price to skyrocket.

My dilemma is, should I sell now, wait for the short-term pull back, go back in and sell in the long term, or is this a foolish sentiment?
While no one will serve as a financial adviser to you here, I guess my comment above answers your question.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies can't surge great height without speculations. on: March 16, 2024, 11:32:57 PM
Whether we want to accept it or not, speculation is what humans thrive on. It's not only in cryptos and trading but in other spheres of life, even in relationships and marriages. It's that integral. Back to the crypto space, yes speculation drives prices and values. Without speculation of where a project could be headed values won't be attached to it. Never.

Surely if you think of what value do cryptocurrencies creates, they do none.
Even if you want to convince yourself that they do none, just think of the fact that you can exchange goods and services with cryptos and the deal goes through without banks. Think of cryptos as payment option if nothing else makes sense to you on it.

There had been sporadic success in gaming but again gaming is another virtual business with no value except the entertainment.
Entertainment is a big influence on man and we can't rule that out. Cryptos coming in to address that is a big plus.

I recieved 201 usdt, but have no trx in my wallet. Wondering if any is able to assist with selling me some after I'm able to move my funds.
I hope what you've there isn't a trap to lure you to attempt claiming something that will drain every Tron you send in there. Be careful. This is the season for heightened scam activities. If you didn't pay for that USDT or participated in something that got you paid with that, then it's obviously a scam.

Poloniex applied KYC on their users before that exchange was acquired by Justin Sun.

I scan their ToS and see with Level 1 KYC, withdrawal limit is $10,000 / day so it is likely Poloniex is not a KYC-free exchange.
Yes, it's not a non-KYC exchange. I used to be on that exchange as a noob. I stopped using it for some time and when I went back, I started having the expected KYC prompt most exchanges were having at the time. I guess that discouraged me from continuing their services. Even Binance was non-KYC when it began its operations in 2017 until later regulations forced them to.

OP, this is a Bitcoin forum, not many are impressed with altcoins discussions, so you may not receive a lot merits if you keep posting in only that section of the forum.
We can say, not many (high ranked users) are impressed with altcoin discussions... As for if there are members who are, there are a great number of them that post there. Altcoin Discussion has become spam centre and there's need to sanitize that part of the forum. It's like what happens in the gambling section.

Again, OP needs to be more active here and make constructive posts if they want to be noticed and their posts merited. Also, they should stop begging for merit. It's against the forum rule.
246  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am i bad to this friend if i refuse to loan him some money in bad economy on: March 16, 2024, 10:26:28 AM

At least say that you still can't pay back the loan money. because in reality I also didn't charge and wanted the money back because I saw that he was my good friend. but somehow he walked away and never had any contact with me again. Even when they meet on the street, they don't seem to know me.
There's a popular saying in my locality that the mannerism of asking for a loan isn't the same as when it's due to be paid back. It's that simple. The borrower goes to the lender and asks for a loan in a tone that makes them appear humble and dying 😅 but when they're asked for the repayment, the stupid ones among them will ask the lender why they're bothering them as if there aren't people who owe others. Some even would tell you that after all countries owe, let alone individuals like them. Some of these responses would leave one wondering why one helped out in the first place. I've had my share of this. It pains me that some people neglect the essence of friendship once money issues come up.
247  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am i bad to this friend if i refuse to loan him some money in bad economy on: March 16, 2024, 12:00:26 AM
Now I am profiting from my Bitcoin investments then and one of my colleagues is now in dear need of financial help, he needs some help, not life-threatening but money, and now I am not ready to loan him any money as long as it affects my overall Bitcoin holdings.
If he needs financial help and you know it's not a life-threatening one, it behooves you to make use of discretion in what amount you give to him. You can't be saving to safe yourself from poverty and someone who is frivolous in spending is asking for your sweat. Remember that nothing destroys a relationship faster than borrowing and lending. Most times those who borrow don't want to return it and they will act like it's their birthright to your money. For me, I've come to judge anyone who borrows from a friend but doesn't return it as placing the worth of that friend on the same amount they're borrowing. If a friend asks for 100k and doesn't return it, it means he holds your relationship with them at the level of 100k. So, what do you do? You move on and that puts an end to that relationship. Don't go bothering or fighting them for that. You can remind them once or twice but don't let it bring a quarrel. I've a situation like that at hand. Mine is that I haven't even bothered to remind the friend and it's been over a year they're supposed to have returned it. The friend is acting like they've forgotten but he's acquiring properties. It's not as if he doesn't have the money to pay back. It's a lesson we all learn but handle differently.

I think the point you mentioned is that you won't invest in the ratio 1:6 because you don't wanna take risks...
I never said I didn't want to take risk. I said it was going to be too MUCH risk for me investing in 1:6 risk to reward stuff. But of course, every business has its level of risk. In the crypto space, any presale that gives you a 1:6 isn't lucrative. That's the way I see it. If it's listed, it's a different thing. Presale means before the project is listed and exposed to the general public. So, you see that it's greater risk investing in presale projects than already listed ones. There are some presale that never make it to the market. If that happens, and the project doesn't get listed; it's simply goodbye to presale investors' funds.

...but how you will make it realise to the newbies they just want some very good profits so they do it. The greed for getting rich overnight has destroyed many over the past and it'll in the future
Anyone who allows greed to undo them because they want to hit it big at once should face the music when it comes. Again, no matter how long you talk to people about their own safety and security there are those who will still fall prey to what they had been warned against. This is what happens with most newbies.

In respect to this warning, let me quickly share what I encountered today. I believe it will help someone take care of their security. There's this token I have enough quantity of – Megaland. I didn't know the project migrated. I only got to hear of it recently. I went to their Telegram only to find out that people were complaining too of how they couldn't get theirs migrated. I commented there too like every other person. The next day I opened my app only to find someone had volunteered to direct me on how to solve the issue. A link was sent to me which had every trappings to show it was from the project. Correct link and all that, just the same way I saw it on the Twitter handle of the project.

Nonetheless, my sixth sense told me not to activate it on my wallet browser directly as that was the instruction to copy and paste in app browser. I had that token in my main wallet. So, I transferred it out to a burner wallet. Then I sent $1 worth of BNB as gas to the burner wallet to serve as migration fee. I copied the link onto my browser and linked my wallet. It was then I discovered it was a phisher. I chatted the dude up and told him to go enjoy his $1 loot. If I hadn't moved that token out before assessing that link, my entire wallet would've been drained and months of my ceaseless labouring wasted. I just have to put this out here so people will be more careful. Scammers are getting wiser this day. This bull season is as lucrative to them as it's to those genuinely investing.
251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin pump|before halving on: March 12, 2024, 06:51:17 PM
~
Why shocked? All we need is just another month like the last one. If we recall, a month ago we were still hovering around $42k range. Now, look at us! So, another $30k in a month is certainly possible.  I know, that would be exceptional. But Bitcoin's history is full of surprises.
You know that thing they say about thunder not striking twice at a particular spot? That's the whole scenario I'm trying to paint with price doing $30k from now and before halving. I think Bitcoin has exhausted that steam to run through another sprint within a short time without a major correction. It's not as if price won't rally up but I don't think it can go that high. Yes, Bitcoin has a history of surprises and I would be delighted it pulls another one on us. However, sincerely typing, I don't think that will be possible at this time.
252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin pump|before halving on: March 12, 2024, 05:20:40 PM
Looking at the current price,Bitcoin has pumped to $69K with a very high bullish momentum. My concern is can we see bitcoin rally to 100K before halving, bitcoin has increased by 40% so far.
$100k before halving will be a difficult order, seeing that we're just a month away from it. We may see $80k as it's romancing $72k already. Hitting $100k will mean Bitcoin doing $30k addition to its current price. I would be shocked if that ever happens.

before halving, but JP Morgan give a contradicting idea saying "bitcoin would drop to $42K before halving " ....amidst investors buying more bitcoins.
Keep your sanity intact by not listening to those guys and their institutions. They want to FUD so they can buy cheap. A few times that I listened to them in the past, it didn't end to my advantage. I lost out.

Quote
Will bitcoin drop to $42K as speculated by JP Morgan..?
It's an elusive dream for anyone to think that will ever happen this year or next. They I'll have to wait for 2026 to see $42k. Anyone who missed an entry at that level has missed it for good and should either move on or buy at whatever price it's now. There's still room for upward movement.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is $PENG The Coolest New Memecoin on Solana? on: March 12, 2024, 04:19:52 PM
Seems you are holding enough of it for talking about them...
Maybe OP does 😏. Remember the axiom – where a man's treasure is that's where his heart will be.

That aside, I've come to discover that almost all memes on the Solana chain from Analos, Pepe, Loaf Cat, Bonk to Wen have had nice run on their prices upon listing. Nonetheless, the meme thing cuts across several chains in this crypto space. I think it's an innovation different chains are using to draw attention to their main chains. it's not just Solana alone. These projets are doing a fantastic job at it. As for Peng, within its few days (3 days) of listing we can say it has done tremendously well leaping from $0.08+ to $0.51+ before relapsing. Its supply isn't that much and I believe it can do more than $1 during this rally.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in a newly project is worth it or not ? on: March 12, 2024, 01:32:35 PM
Guys i am a trader but i never invested in the new projects but i know some guys who perform trading on newly projects and take a good profit from it so i am decided to do that as well so i found a project called...
Your explanation and activity according to your post means you're an investor, not a trader. Both don't mean the same thing.

Quote
...and its offers mining through the smart contract i have checked the dapp their pools are not live but when i connect my wallet nothing is stolen so its look safe and when i dig more i found out their fairlaunch on pinksale is coming in next 24 hours and after the launch their pools got live i have witnessed a projects who offers good rewards through mining pool for the early birds so what you guys think participating in the initial sale of a token is safe or not?
It's obvious you're just shilling for that project. You ought to have come clear with it than hide behind the trader thing. Well, I don't know anything about that project and I ain't interested to go digging into its tokenomics and all that. Nice try, though.

https:// dynexcoin.org/ I think you can consider $dynex as it is the future.
You expect anyone to believe that? Of course, that's what every new project claims. Since such post is coming from a newbie, it will be a herculean task believing it.

I know no matter the advice many read they woudl still invest in shit coins so stake what you can afford to lose.
That's the nature of humans. We tend to believe that every bad experience should've a compensatory reward when revisited. Again, some will reason that they could be very fast to get in and out of the scheme. Incidentally, most of them get caught in the web.

It's way better to only own Bitcoin. Wink
Well, on a long run; yes Bitcoin will be better. However, on a short term investment altcoins will out perform Bitcoin in terms of ROI. Those who know how to plot TA and carry out onchain analysis will be better equipped trading alts and benefitting maximally from it than buying Bitcoin and letting it lie idle in a wallet and then claim they're hodling it.

Once you see projects that have promises to have a return, that’s already a red flag.
I also do think so too, especially if a certain percentage or amount is mentioned as a specific reward. Businesses don't work that way with that level of assurance and certitude of profit making. It's the market that can decide  it.
256  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Have I been Scammed?? on: March 12, 2024, 10:53:21 AM
I did contact a lot of the members for reviews or if they had been paid and no bad reviews, everyone got paid per plan, thought surely not everyone lieing (10 people).
What you did there is akin to asking a question in a public group on how to get something done on a wallet. The first person that sends you a DM is obviously a scammer. This thing is a pattern. I've experienced it countless times. Anyone reading this post now can try that experiment. It won't take more than 5 mins before you find the scammer in your net. You wouldn't know if all those you asked are in on it with the person you invested with. It's highly possible that they were all together.

As for if it's a scam or not, you should just move on and take what happened to you as the cost for the experience you've now acquired with that incident. Life is full of lessons; some we pay heavily for while some are free gift.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins Thriving in 2024: Should We Embrace More Crypto Fun? on: March 12, 2024, 08:00:32 AM
While most memecoins lack real use cases, they seem to thrive more than other crypto projects with genuine applications. I believe many are driven by the desire for profit, willing to take risks even with highly speculative investments like memecoins.
Hype is what gives Memes their value. People like hype and anything that promises them mouth watery benefits. That's what memes promise. Those who get in early at several zeros easily make unbelievable profits and that drives their greed to participate in the next meme project and also in the next, it goes on like that. In 2021, I invested around $50 in a memecoin that that gave me over $5k. It was like a dream. Sadly, greed didn't allow me take profit until it went down significantly. We're having a repeat of massive gain for alts this season like we had in 2018. Everyone should position and take advantage of that.

Currently, I'm trying my luck by joining meme contests on X (twitter), hoping to win some memecoins.
Twitter is the main place to catch airdrops and fresh projects but one has to be extremely careful not to get scammed.

Degen hunters are people I consider as gamblers to me they are worse than future traders in terms of risk management.
Yes, they're. It's blind investment approach, especially when the trader isn't an insider to the project or has someone who is and who tells them what's happening in there so they can better take and made an informed decision.

By the way, everything in life is about risk. It's a struggle out there and only the prudent and shrewd guard themselves judiciously from scammers in this industry.
259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Platform selling upcoming ICOs. IS THIS LEGIT OR NOT?! PLS HELP! on: March 11, 2024, 06:40:51 PM
IM BITTER LIKE A BAD COFFEE ON A MONDAY MORNING when I get scammed! PLEASE HELP ME AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS COMMUNITY THAT CAN POSSIBLY GET SCAM AND GIVE CRYPTO A BAD REP! I’m attaching their calendar of ICOs.
Well, just take that sad experience of yours as the price you paid for the knowledge you've now. Many more of these shenanigans will come up as Bitcoin continues to soar. It's the modus operandi of these criminals. I commented about this PAY token recently. No matter how hard we shout it here for people to be weary of them, there will continue to be victims. Talking about ICOs, I had my fair share of their scam in 2017/18. I know better how to follow them now.
260  Other / Meta / Re: Request delete my account from forum on: March 11, 2024, 05:34:12 PM
OP has only one post and he is saying that delete all my data. I think he want to completely leave crypto forum which may be the reason he want to delete his account because his email will be still connected with forum even if he not using it. OP can explain the real reason behind it but pleasure to see that Theymos accept newbie request to secure anyone privacy.
Actually, OP was registered here on December 13, 2017. I find it difficult to believe they only have just a single post to their name till date. It's possible they got past posts deleted for whatsoever reason(s) they also want to get their account here permanently deleted. Anyway, it's their decision to make but it's theymos' call to do what's obtainable. For me, I think OP should've just left the account in a way they won't be able to log in again after deleting all posts by changing their password to what they can't remember even after 30 minutes of logging in and doing same for the email they used. It's that simple.
