2401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Q for Bitcoin gamblers. Are you affected by high transaction fees? on: January 15, 2018, 03:01:11 PM
The only site I play on (Crypto-Games) already has segwit enabled, at least you can deposit using your segwit address.
I'm just waiting until they implement segwit addresses themselves, but they're working on it;

I only gamble using my signature campaign earnings as well, haven't changed my receiving address to segwit yet, but I will once CG supports it fully.
2402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 500$ and 28 cryptoassets for one year hold. Will I get my investment back? on: January 15, 2018, 02:44:22 PM
Looking at your first week, I think you're pretty much guaranteed to make a very nice profit in the end unless something terrible happens with the whole crypto market.
I just don't know if it's a good idea to just leave everything and not cash out from time to time, but on the other hand it's very informative to see how your portfolio performs over 1 years time.

Really like the style of your blog post btw, if you're going to put as much effort in each single one, I'm definitely following!

Thank you and will do!

Well I take this as experiment.. I will be more than happy if I get my own back after one year. Smiley

It's also a possibility that you alter your experiment a bit, just not too drastically.

You could make it even more fun by paying part of your principal back every quarter, so at the end of the 1 year, you have paid back the original 500 dollars. (Pay yourself 125 dollars every 4 months)
The coins that you have left over would be pure profit and it would make the experiment safer.

Just an idea though...
2403  Economy / Gambling / Re: When a Gambler/Player Dies on: January 15, 2018, 01:35:04 PM
I'm of the opinion that it's the players responsibility to make sure relatives have access to any accounts that have any value on them.
In most cases, your partner at least knows how to access your e-mail account, that would also be sufficient to gain access to any gambling accounts etc.

I have no doubt that my own partner can access all funds tied to my name, offline or online.
This is stuff you need to plan for, however unlikely that it may seem for it to happen, be prepared.
2404  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage on: January 15, 2018, 01:05:47 PM
Yes it is legal like everyone said. It is also profitable and many people use robot as helper to make the transaction quicker.
And  suggest to not use bitcoin to arbitrage because long time confirmation.

Did you also use "robot"? If you use robot could you share here please? Sorry if my question is "freak". I'm new on cryptocurrency and I want to learn about trading. Thanks

There are a couple of arbitrage bots available, some are even free.
I've personally only used the arbitrage function in Haasbot, but it was at a time of relative market stability, so I didn't make too much with it.

You can check it out here: https://www.haasonline.com

I'll share a list below of all the arbitrage bots I can find, some paid, some free.

https://github.com/butor/blackbird - free and in development
https://gekko.wizb.it/ - free, has some arb functionality but isn't really built for it.
https://github.com/maxme/bitcoin-arbitrage - free but updated infrequently
https://www.haasonline.com - Paid, subscriptions start at 0.035 BTC for 3 months
2405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manchester City can go 38 games undefeated. on: January 15, 2018, 12:25:34 PM
This season Manchester City is superior, but to unbeaten to the end? I do not think so. By seeing this crazy Manchester City, any team against Manchester City will have the motivation to win bigger than usual. This will be a tough problem for Manchester City. Any team especially the big 6 team will be very motivated to beat Manchester City.

Yup, this is just a mere joke, the statement will never fit to be correct. I guess the next Manchester Derby will be going for the United. But yah, I would surely love to see them win continuously but its kind of impractical. Like, come on its football , and winning continuously or draw is not possible. Not only the derby, but there are many matches upcoming which can be enough tough.
Completely disagree with you that the next derby is going to go to United, if you look at how both teams are playing, the odds are in favor or City.
Too bad they lost against Liverpool, but in the end it was a pretty great match, definitely worth watching.

Can't wait till the next one  Grin
2406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Segwit question on: January 15, 2018, 12:11:21 PM
I've also been using a newly created bech32 address with Electrum to save up on fees, haven't had any problems at all.
Just to confirm what the previous poster has said, it's possible to send and receive from legacy addresses.

Do keep in mind that a lot of services don't support bech32 yet, so you might run into some trouble if you're trying to send funds from an exchange to your segwit address.
2407  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are the trading bots worth the price? on: January 15, 2018, 11:37:43 AM
I've bought a license to Haasbot a couple of years ago and I was pretty happy with it, their licenses aren't that expensive @ 0.035 BTC for a beginners one.
I think I'd made a total of 0.05 BTC profit in the end, but I felt that it would have been more useful for me if I had more technical knowledge of how the algo's worked.

Check it out for yourself here:

2408  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: open source cryptocurrencies exchange on: January 15, 2018, 11:28:30 AM

thank you @eternalgloom, I'm looking to be really independant and not use another exchange
Is txbits still good to be used or no ?

txbits is the most promising project but not updated anymore and I'm more looking for something like shapeshift.io really open and no inscription etc

I can't believe this is so hard to find something like this

Yeah that's the thing isn't it? I really doubt that Txbits is ready for production use and it's also completely different than Shapeshift/Changelly.
Peatio should be production ready, but it's also not updated anymore sadly, last commit was in 2015.

Do have a look at Coinpair, I know it's not finished, but that's exactly the kind of thing you're looking for, it should be a Shapeshift clone.
2409  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: open source cryptocurrencies exchange on: January 15, 2018, 11:13:35 AM
You've got a number of different options, but Peatio might be your best bet, I'll list the other ones anyway.

Shapeshift has a number of public repositories on Github, so I would think that would be a pretty good start.
There are other open-source exchange scripts, but afaik none that have the exact same functionality as Shapeshift/Changelly.

https://github.com/Shapeshift-Public

Another option would be to build an exchange on top of Changelly, you can charge a commission on trades and you can make use of their API, it's all whitelabel.

https://changelly.com/developers

This next script is supposed to be a shapeshift clone, but it hasn't been updated, might be a good start though.

2410  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ 10 coins ★ Since 2014 ★ 7 games ★ Jackpot ★ Highest Faucet on: January 15, 2018, 11:00:48 AM
Am I remembering correctly that crypto-games.com was a different site which was kind of a scam?
Yes, around 2013 (IIRC) the domain used to belong to a gambling site that didn't take a very fortunate end.
AFAIK the site was already shut down by the time crypto-games.net was established.

Did you buy their domain to prevent confusion?
For better accessibility and to prevent the domain being used by anyone else, regardless of their intentions.

Glad that you've got that domain too now, I've made the mistake in the past of visiting the .com instead of the .net, usually when I was on a different laptop.
I'm just glad it wasn't a phishing website or I might have lost a deposit due to my carelessness.

On a side note, I really hope that the lottery returns back to normal soon, a few big pots are nice to have, but I'm also missing the smaller ones.

Great news, it seems that there's a lot more news about companies accepting Bitcoin payments.
On the other hand, some are also dropping it, I'm still sad that Steam decided to drop it. Hope they will enable it again once the scaling issues are solved.

Too bad it's just KFC Canada though...
2413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Minecraft and cryptocurrencies on: January 11, 2018, 05:34:22 PM
Hey guys, what would you think of building a roleplay minecraft server on top of a Blockchain with a currency. It would be a roleplay server, where you can earn currency by working inside the game, or trading items, building stuff, would be the ingame currency. This currency in a future could be exchanged with bitcoin.

I`m not an expert, but i think that you would have to ask the Minecraft creators for permission ,before implementing such crypto version of that game.Anyway,i`ve always wanted cryptocurrency mining to be more like a game and not just a bunch of complex math calcuation tasks.I like the consept of blockchain+gaming, but we would have to create a genuine game, not Minecraft.

That's completely false, you can implement this by making a mod or server without getting Mojang's permission and it has been done before.
I think there is even a server that's still online that has an in-game economy that's denominated in Bitcoin.

https://www.coindesk.com/kid-friendly-minecraft-server-launches-bitcoin-economy/
http://bitquest.co/ -- still exists

I think it's a great idea OP, but the server itself should be fun to play, without the Bitcoin aspect.

Hello, maybe I could create another cryptocurrency, and the 'mining process' could be finding 'gold blocks' and "mine them" in-game. But this could be very slow, I could limit the amount of gold blocks available in game, for example, 5 millon, and the the rarety to find one about 3%. But if this in the future would a normal cryptocurrency with other use cases that would be a problem, because to mine blocks you have to play, and there must always be people playing, to create new blocks and add transaction to them

I dont know if this could work, what do you think?
I think you have to be 100% sure that cheaters don't get away with using mods that can see through dirt and other blocks.
That's really a problem in general, cheaters can be detected, but I'm not sure if there is a way to be 100% sure that people aren't using hacked clients.

Haven't played Minecraft in a really long time, so don't really follow the development.

Are you planning to build your own mod or are there existing mods to incorporate Bitcoin into the in-game economy?
2414  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Gains.Pro - The top cryptocurrency winners and losers in 2017! on: January 11, 2018, 05:14:03 PM
This is actually a really good idea, it's kinda amazing to see how much value some coins have gained in 1 years time.
Would it be possible to share your code on Github by any chance? I'd like to set it up on a server for personal use.

Anyway, nice job, this is definitely going in my bookmarks folder Wink
2415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much can Bitcoin evolve to compete with newer and more advanced altcoins? on: January 11, 2018, 04:18:10 PM
Slower development of new features isn't necessarily a bad thing IMO, I think it's good that enough time is taken to vote on new features and test them enough so that they are ready for use on the main network.

You give IOTA as an example on how to do it differently, which allows me to point out that IOTA isn't anywhere near the levels of security that Bitcoin has.
This is the problem with smart contract platforms in general, they have a lot of features, but there's an inherent risk of vulnerabilities surfacing.

We all saw what happened with Ethereum, IOTA certainly isn't immune to something similar happening.

2417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is the best time to invest in BTC? on: January 11, 2018, 03:25:17 PM
If the rate of BTC is  below $1 before 2010.,  Is the best time to invest Bitcoin... Today, Bitcoin is touched and rate now is around $14000.. Therefore, it's too late to invest bitcoin but the best to invest in altcoins like Dogecoin, RDD etc which value is below $1.

That's just plain bullshit... If you think that Dogecoin value will ever reach as high as Bitcoins' than you're just plain misinformed.
There's a reason why doge's value is so low, there are billions of coins in circulation while Bitcoin is capped at 21 million.

Just because Bitcoin's price is so high doesn't mean that it's a bad investment.

Thanks in advance !  Wink
There's an entry in the Bitcoin Wiki about that, here's the link to the page: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Genesis_block

So, the hash of the genesis block is: 000000000019d6689c085ae165831e934ff763ae46a2a6c172b3f1b60a8ce26f

2419  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question/Poll - Will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? on: January 11, 2018, 11:16:19 AM
first of all this is a lottery and lotteries don't have that many people interested in them specially with such a high price for buying the "tickets" which is 130-150 USD based on bitcoin price at that moment. which means even less people will be interested in it.

secondly making a lottery to a provably fair thing is nearly impossible in my opinion. you can add a provably fair system and pick the winner in a fair fashion but that doesn't guarantee fairness of the lottery itself. you may have gotten 1000 players but had 14000 fake entries yourself (the total of 15000). nothing about such system is fair.

If all deposits are accounted for, it doesn't really matter if there are 14000 'fake' entries by the owner, as long as the coins are put in the pot so to speak....
People are able to buy more than one ticket, even if one person owns 14000 tickets, they can still lose.

If he can make the draw provably fair, I don't see any problem with a lottery like this.
2420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question/Poll - Will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? on: January 10, 2018, 09:26:26 PM
The concept itself is pretty interesting, I quite like the idea of a high stakes lottery, but only if a couple of conditions are met.
How would you make sure that you'd operate the lottery in such a way that it is provably fair and that you won't run away with the funds?

If this could be done via smart contract or through some kind of very trusted escrow, I would definitely be interested in participating in something like this.
