2547  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USB block erupters are now useless. $5 - $7 each. on: October 17, 2013, 06:06:01 PM
Has anyone come up with something else to do with them once they truly are useless?  Something like SETI or Folding?  That goes for the FPGAs and BFL Jallys in a month or so.

Don't they have aluminum heat-sinks on them? Surely that's enough weight to hold down a piece of paper.

You could make techno jewelery out of them. Or keychain holders.

Funny you should mention it:

(That was a BE that burnt out on me)

done it a while ago with a none functional unit i had, they look better without the CE marking

3 units ordered, delivery to 2 different addresses successful (unsecured and untracked mail) and all units are working fine. I will order more,
waiting to see what USB hubs are on offer. Positive trust given (elasticband's trust stayed negative though, not sure why).

Oh by the way, thank you for the feedback and glad they arrived safe!
2552  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: EU Asicminer USB erupters 0.09- 0.085BTC per unit on: October 15, 2013, 02:40:28 PM
i gave up on the trust system along time ago, if people don't want to trust me because a member tried to abuse my first transaction, then that is their choice.

Just to let it be known, i refunded menig for the faulty stick when it was returned, and as for the "missing" stick menig payed me for this instead of going ahead with johns investigation.
He then offered to delete the feedback he had left me first if i deleted the feedback i left him, i obviously declined his offer.....

2556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is way behind at mobile payments on: October 13, 2013, 03:08:01 AM
The UK banking system is far more advanced and flexible than the US one.  In the UK, you can send a payment from any bank account to any other bank account in the middle of the night on a weekend, and it will get there in less than an hour.  And it is free.  And all the accounts have two factor.  So I guess you could say that bitcoin is EVEN FARTHER BEHIND the UK than it is behind US-based Simple.

using my bitcoin phone app is way cooler than using my bank account app to make payments.

Bitcoin has benefits far beyond a simple transfer system, at the moment i see it as more comparable to gold than currency but those are just my opinions

edit: there is no reason why a social networking type payment app thing could be designed for bitcoin, it just sounds horrible.

Maybe something more like GPG where you can load your public key(bitcoin address) to the key server and then your friends could search you based on your email or nickname,  still i prefer just simply scanning a qr code or copy and pasting a bitcoin address, maybe i am just behind on the times  Roll Eyes
