2541  Other / Beginners & Help / WARNING to all DELL users. Security Flaw in Pre-Installed Dell Support Software. on: June 24, 2019, 11:13:58 AM
Warning to all DELL users.

Quote
Dell's SupportAssist utility that comes pre-installed on millions of Dell laptops and PCs contains a security vulnerability that could allow malicious software or rogue logged-in users to escalate their privileges to administrator-level and access sensitive information.

Quote
With this high-level privileges, the utility interacts with the Dell Support website and automatically detects Service Tag or Express Service Code of your Dell product, scans the existing device drivers and installs missing or available driver updates, along with performing hardware diagnostic tests.
However, researchers at SafeBreach Labs discovered that the software insecurely loads .dll files from user-controlled folders when run, leaving a spot for malware and rogue logged-in users to corrupt existing DLLs or replace them with malicious ones.

In other words if you have Dell laptop, don't use the Dell System Detect and update as soon as possible

Quote
Dell Business and home PC users are recommended to update their software to Dell SupportAssist for Business PCs version 2.0.1 and Dell SupportAssist for Home PCs version 3.2.2 respectively.

2542  Other / Meta / Re: A wave of bans: 400 yesterday, 300 the day before. What changed? on: June 24, 2019, 08:07:22 AM
How many got banned til now since the start of this thread? Maybe LoyceV can update the OP with some current stats? Just checked the Alt section patrol and I was surprised to see just a few posts..
It's been difficult to follow all those stat threads, they are so many now Cheesy
2543  Economy / Speculation / Re: *Q2-BTC-PRCE PREDICTION-GAME* Q2 LIST GAME on: June 24, 2019, 08:06:47 AM
I thought that my 6k$ call was realistic at that time, but bitcoin proved again that there is nothing realistic in the bitcoin world.
Looking forward to the next  Q3 game. I'm sure there gonna be a 6 digits price  predictions. Smiley
2544  Other / Meta / Re: [ALTS] What is the procedure for registering alts? on: June 24, 2019, 07:53:36 AM
I don't think there's any procedure on that, but you have done more than enough.
Staked address (it could be a signed message tho, so you can easily recover the acc if something happens), stated that it's your alt in the trust feedback. Soon TimeLord will add you to his list with Alts. This should be quite enough but I think you just created a nice  guidelines for the newbies Smiley
2545  Other / Meta / Re: Stop shameless bumps if you have nothing new to say on: June 24, 2019, 07:33:42 AM
Depends of the situation, but if the posted information is valuable for someone, like protecting newbies from being scammed, or information regarding changes which can affect someone in a way, those are good to be bumped as they are not in the stickies.
Bumping threads like "Bitcoin is DEAD!" or threads that gives you now useful information should be punishable with locking those threads.
2546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Attack on Bitcoin on: June 24, 2019, 07:24:24 AM
I hate when the OP comes with some info (FUD in this case), starts a thread to intrigue everyone and then disappears abandoning the thread.
Smells like CSW supporter to me.
2547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC millionaire looking for good causes on: June 23, 2019, 11:48:05 AM
You probably gonna find a lot of places to donate money.
What we (me and my wife) do after we got our first kid is to donate money to kids with health issues.

There is nothing better than to give a sick innocent child a chance to live.
You gonna feel much better (worthy as a human being)  after that, trust me.

Our cases we find on the TV,  because I now they are true stories. There are so many kids waiting for expensive live saving treatments.
2548  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: June 23, 2019, 08:52:18 AM
Just to note: the manual parsing of accounts it's not working, the list with the top merited posts for the past 24 hours is empty and the top merited members list is not updated for quite some time now.

P.S. I manually refresh the profiles with wrong trust score in the 1000 most trusted list but it's endless work...

So I did this back when coinbase allowed us peons to sign messages.... but we can no longer do this now.... so I have no way to sign the message ever again.... and no way to do anything in the future to recover my account.  So Ill put this out here now since a few weeks ago i swapped my password to something with a lot more entropy... and at this point i can't think of a way to be able to securely recover my account;  unless I can send funds to that address, and coinbase doesn't push them around between wallets on me before I can spend them on a verification TX to someone like phillipma1957 whom I trust and have done plenty of business with... I need to TX some funds to that address and see what happens.  *note* on blockchain.info, that BTC address is labelled with my username.

Any input on the matter would help.  I'm sure others are in the same boat as I am.

Don't you have another wallet from which you can sign a message? You can stake it here and move, let's say some given amount like 5001 satoshi (Idk how are the fees now) or maybe any transaction to this wallet can do the job. Hope there are more suggestions Smiley

2554  Other / Beginners & Help / WARNING! to all VLC player users! Stop using VLC and update it now!! on: June 21, 2019, 08:08:16 PM
And another vulnerability found, no one is save.

I know many people use it that's why I post it here.
Keep your coins save.

Read below.

Quote
If you use VLC media player on your computer and haven't updated it recently, don't you even dare to play any untrusted, randomly downloaded video file on it.
Doing so could allow hackers to remotely take full control over your computer system.
That's because VLC media player software versions prior to 3.0.7 contain two high-risk security vulnerabilities, besides many other medium- and low-severity security flaws, that could potentially lead to arbitrary code execution attacks.

Seems like our meme war against the stupidity of some members is attracting actually more greedy people to try to join when Full.
I am not agree with you(not against you), most of meme poster are already member of this campaign and there are two members who are not even Sr. member (They are either Member rank of Jr. member rank and they know they can't join this campaign). And if there are few meme posters are Sr. member or above then it doesn't mean they are greedy people or they want to join this campaign (who don't want  to join such campaign?).

Your thoughts are possible but not in this campaign where CM select those members only who are Sr.Member or above. And everyone knows the selection process of this campaign.

I wonder if people are PMing me to avoid having to post here? I got this PM this morning

How about a reporting bot based on a given text/link. Monitoring resent posts and reports.
It would be very useful for my CLUB Smiley
