1741  Other / Meta / Re: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. New Round. on: February 21, 2020, 10:14:29 AM
The OP was updated today. Seven Eight sources requested increase of their source merit. We getting back to the time I opened this thread. This can be only a positive aspect. Hopefully more source will be added soon.
Again If anyone wants to be on that list, just leave a comment.

Edit:

ETFbitcoin added to the list Smiley
1742  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST] Open Merit Source Applications... on: February 21, 2020, 10:01:36 AM
~
When was the last time you saw a thread (or even a single post) saying a merit source got it right?

No one will open thread just to say "thank you" but of course if you do something others don't like or accept, then you get all the hell over your head. Anyway, we should keep it that way as it is.
If you show a desire to be a merit source and bear all the responsibilities, others can support your application.
If you thinks someone is eligible for a merit source, then just PM him with a question if he wants to become one. It's very easy Smiley
1743  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers for more than a year. on: February 20, 2020, 01:55:22 PM
Lovely, I think it should be soon time to update the OP with more appropriate informaton, and this will be very usefull to catch those who delete their posts all the time.

@LoyceV, I'm thinking if can you actually put on the top of the profile page the post count of recorded posts? So to be able to to compare the current post count with the recorded one, now you have to scroll all the way down to see the last post. Or maybe just revers the order of the posts, starting from the bottom with 1 and up to the last post.

~
I'll have to pass on this: I currently add just one line to each for for each new post. This is very easy (although it badly fragments the filesystem).
To add something at the top of the page would mean rewriting the entire file. So you're just going to have to scroll a bit Tongue

Ok man, no need to worry about that Smiley It was just a question Smiley
1744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / US DOJ Calls Bitcoin Mixing ‘a Crime’ in Arrest of Software Developer on: February 20, 2020, 01:46:04 PM
This article really took my attention and I couldn't find it here
Seems that the US Department of Justice have stated their opining regarding the mixing of coins. Does this make all the bitcoin mixers illegal?
What is the future of such services from now on?
US DOJ Calls Bitcoin Mixing ‘a Crime’ in Arrest of Software Developer
a quote from the article:
Quote
In a statement Thursday, Justice Department Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski made the department’s views on bitcoin mixers clear. “This indictment underscores that seeking to obscure virtual currency transactions in this way is a crime,” he said.

1745  Other / Meta / Re: Market Place - Computer hardware "split" proposal. on: February 20, 2020, 08:16:18 AM
Maybe instead of splitting the Computer Hardware child board, we can add a child board ASICs & Mining to it? That solves the need to divide the whole Computer Hardware board, because the ASICs fall under the same category, and keep everything in it, just with additional sorting. Theymos knows the best.
1746  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST]Open Merit Source Applications,waiting list. on: February 20, 2020, 07:59:51 AM
If I may appoint someone on the local Indonesian board who might be able to become a Source of Merit, I will appoint roycilik he is active every day.
Since there is a Merit source member from Indonesia who has been inactive for a long time pandukelana2712 maybe he can switch his position to roycilik

Because it is unfortunate that someone who is a source of Merit but does not do his job properly.

This is a good suggestion but I think roycilik should approve it first, because some people does not really want to be a merit sources. In case he wants to become a merit source then he has to follow the same procedure as everyone else, make list with 10 good posts, deserving more merit.
I had some communication with roycilik and I will support his application if he takes this decision Smiley
1747  Other / Meta / Re: Gangs of BitcoinTalk :) on: February 19, 2020, 10:35:25 PM
Damn there's one big gang missing in the big picture, the bone bitcoin Collectors, those are many, with MJ as a top collector, but he is also a team leader of the The Escrow team. Things are getting more messed up when you add the IT Mining Crowd, many of them silently lurking in the Computer Hardware (in the Marketplace).
... I can continue if you want me to Smiley
1748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bulgaria's government is top countries of the world for owning the most bitcoin on: February 19, 2020, 05:25:15 PM
Are you certain that this isn't just another fake news? That doesn't sound very convincing to me, inthat fact I'm sure it's disinformation.
Not just for Bulgaria, I don't think that any government is accumulating Bitcoin.
Yes, governments are interested in cryptocurrencies and want to know how they could be maybe integrated into state system but they are not buying it, not with funds from state budget. So, don't believe to.everything you read or hear somwhere.

You really didn't read the whole story, didn't you?
Nowhere is written that the government bought bitcoins, they were confiscated during a big police action from bunch of a criminals and were supposedly kept in secret. Some say the government already sold them on private auctions, or never actually had a possession of the private keys of the confiscated wallets.
1749  Other / New forum software / Re: If we want a proper testing of Epochtalk, we need at least the Beta site back! on: February 19, 2020, 03:43:39 PM
- Hire a prof QA to do it quickly and efficiently.

This so much.

I finally got ET installed and it's quite horrible. There's a bunch of issues reported on Github but unfortunately I don't have time to go through all that and figure out what's already been reported, what has been deemed as acceptable etc. There needs to be a somewhat dedicated person with QA experience for testing it if there isn't one already. Random users poking around won't cut it.

That's for sure, spending hunders of bitcoins on the development and at the end to not have a proper testing sounds silly, especially with that recent prises of the Bitcoin, it won't takr that much.
So finally we can have a final product and migrate to it for once and for all.
1750  Other / Meta / {TO THE MODS} Who can pin a topic in the New Forum Software section? on: February 19, 2020, 02:35:19 PM
Here is my request to pin this topic > Epochtalk installation readme in the New Forum Software Section.
The reason is clear, if we want to migrate to Epochtalk we need to make it easly accessed for the comunity.
Thank you!
I don't really know which mod is resposible for that section.

Thank you, i'm locking this one Smiley
1751  Other / Meta / Re: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. Done! Thank you theymos. on: February 19, 2020, 02:27:22 PM
OP updated and LFC_Bitcoin added to the list Smiley
Anyone else?

Also out of merits, so I could do with a bigger allocation. Wasn't sure if I was going to use them after an increase and after the art contest has ended but I've 0 merits left to award worthy posts with right now.

Added as well Smiley
Total number of applications 4 5 (haha strikethrough is not working on 4 Wink. We need more sMerit people Smiley

I am frequently out of both source merit and personal merit, and I receive lots of merit so I am always spending more than my normal allocation. I tend to spend small amounts of merit per post I merit.
One more added Smiley
1752  Other / Meta / Re: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. Done! Thank you theymos. on: February 19, 2020, 01:55:21 PM
I've got a good feeling 'bout this...
If he will be a Sauce then the Vixen will try to lure him into the Foxhole just like what they did to you, end up being on cycle 😂
Foxpup... I know you're there, what's up and what can you say 'bout another guy on the Foxhole?
Sorry, but for obvious reasons the foxhole doesn't admit anyone under the age of 18; that phoney beard's not fooling anyone. Smiley
Rofl, that beard have seen and done quite some +18 things during those years, but the baby thing is reflection to my bitcoin career, so for those who thought that I was born with hypertrichosis I have to disappoint you guys. Anyway someone mentioned some time ago a 55-gallon drum of WD-40, well this is interesting for sure, if it's still available let me know Smiley
1753  Other / Meta / Re: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. New Round! on: February 19, 2020, 12:10:28 PM
Bumping this again, the tread is unlocked now.
The original OP was archived (see the new OP for a link) and we have a new round of requests for increasing of the allocated monthly smerit for the merit sources.
If anyone is not happy with the smerit hie has and want to end up on the list, please post a comment here and I will include you.
This apply also for source who cannot spend their monthly allocated sMerit and they want them reduced. (hopefully the leftovers will be spread between the other Merit sources.
The ball is back to theymos.
1754  Other / Meta / Re: #MeritBrokeMyLife AGAIN on: February 19, 2020, 11:58:50 AM
Seems like i have to re-open my sMeirt begging thread again? Any other sources that need more smerit out there?
Keep me on the list, but it's a global scandal that you aren't a merit source yet. We should focus on that first.

The craziest thing I get refill almost all the time, so whenever I run out of sMerit takes around 2-3 days and there I have again enough for a week. I doesn't really matter if I post " don't send merit " they keep sending, here a fresh example from today so I really gave up on that.

Now we have two persons asking for more merit,so it's time to release the Kraken unlock the thread, for a second round Smiley
1755  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk - Problems of accessing in Turkey on: February 19, 2020, 11:34:52 AM
Yes, bitcontalk.org is under censorship in Turkey, as well as other crypto related (and maybe not only crypto) websites. Here is a thread I remember I read some time ago regarding the same issue.
 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5189441.0
So the best solution is to use a VPN or another DNS server. Luckily you are just for a short time there, enjoy the Turkish food tho.

First of all, welcome to Turkey : )

Turkey currently does not ban access to forum. No access issues. There is probably a problem where you are connected. There are exceptions at several internet providers (kablonet, ttnet). A vast Turkish community connects every day without problems. Last year, we had access problems for a short time but it improved. There is also no legal issue or restriction regarding Bitcoin. In fact, Turkey is a paradise for crypto currencies. Because there is no legal regulation, yet.

Taka a look the thread I posted above and let me know if it was true then.

Quote
Yes as other users pointed out it's a Turkish Telekom DNS censorship issue.
The fastest way to access BTT in Turkei would be to just switch to any reputable non Turkish DNS server.
1756  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk - Problems of accessing in Turkey on: February 19, 2020, 10:48:25 AM
Interesting, because there is a quite big Turkish community here in the forum and quite active, never heard of blocking the forum before.
What is the error you got? Cloudflare issues?
If you use mobile, the easiest way to go around the block it you use Opera, with it's integrated free VPN.
1757  Other / Meta / Re: #MeritBrokeMyLife AGAIN - A Message To theymos on: February 19, 2020, 10:43:59 AM
Seems like i have to re-open my sMeirt begging thread again? Any other sources that need more smerit out there?
To all those who cannot spend all their allocated smerit maybe you can follow the example of TMAN, and rank up some good old should-be-a-legendary heroes, so they won't be lost with the time Smiley
1758  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: February 19, 2020, 08:12:40 AM
What is the methodology being to used to calculate recognition?  Why I ask I was at 30th place with a score of 791.667 and then around the time my post count started dropping without explanation (as discussed in the original BPIP thread) now my recognition score is a dozen points lower while the other users with scores around mine are all fairly static.

At the time it was suggested that the posts were very old in threads that had been nuked, now I'm not so sure as the evidence suggests manipulation by mods to push my BPIP score down with very targeted deletion of posts.

The score is calculated differently, referring to this post from 2018 back then the recognition score was calculated based on this formula.
Quote
Recognition = (Activity Rank + Trust Rank + Merit Rank) / 3

Today we have just a little change - the actual result of the above equation is extracted from 1000.

So you have the following formula:
Recognition = 1000 - ((Activity Rank + Trust Rank + Merit Rank) / 3).

In your case:  1000 - ((285 + 152 + 229) / 3) = 778

You can check wich of your scores are droping or who is above you.
1759  Other / Meta / Re: Gangs of BitcoinTalk :) on: February 18, 2020, 08:40:21 PM
Rofl... You missed the SpamBusters' gang, we are silent killers reporters, working anonymously with the Mods' gang (another one you have missed). We also have our place under the sun. There are more gangs like the LN supporters, the BSV - scum of the galaxy, the faketoshi believers, and the biggest one is the gang of spammers fighting with our gang all the time... etc...
1760  Other / Meta / Re: There is any problem if anyone make any post on behalf of banned user? on: February 18, 2020, 02:03:46 PM
Suddenly yesterday I discovered this curiosity.  Smiley

Suppose your friend is banned for few days  and unable to make any post. But he needs to make an announcement which is urgent/necessary. So if he asked you for making a post on behalf of him. And you make the post.

So, In this case is there any problem can happen with your account? Is there any rules about this case?    Just want to be clear about this. Thanks

If your friend is banned, he has the right to create a new account only to post in meta regarding his case.
If you are going to post an annoucnent that the guy is banned and if anyone wants to contact him to do it outside the forum, should be OK, at least for me.
If you want to take over a proejct, this should be fine too.
Normally those who post "of behalf of " somebody most offen turn to be alt accounts.
