I can't find the post with the bitcoin address you signed a message from. If you don't have it posted somewhere on the forum the signed message is useless. On the other hand I found this one, do you still have control over this address below? #JOIN

This seems to be the best practice, If you want to participate in any signature campaigns, you need to buy a membership. If you are good enough, you get much more than what you have invested, if not, the forum benefits and your account is gone.
There are very little bounties or campaigns accept Copper member with same payrates as of Member rank. The most advantage user can have from the Copper membership is a right to post and display images. They can wear signature as same as member rank but it does not make sense if they only buy that membership to be qualified for campaigns or bounties (not too many nowadays). That is true, most of the (good) campaigns required received merit, but again they have a higher chance to get into campaign than to try to shitpost their way up to Member rank ,which most likely never happen, they just get banned at the end or turn into social media spammers. Achieving that 1 merit from 0 to 1 is almost impossible for a huge part of the new accounts, then they face the next 9 merit milestone.. It is quite a big filter for sure.

@ iasenko. I appreciate you for the so much helpful link. Now I know a lot about the forum.
But if someone's post is well merited, can the posts continue to count before the 14th day?
I don't know exaclty what you are talking about but let it make more clear. Let's separate the activity from merit. The 14th days cycle is only for the activity. If you make let's say 20 posts in one cycle of 14 days, you get only 14 points of activity for that period. If you make only 1 post in the next activity cycle you get back the other 6 points of activity as well so you have total 21 posts and 21 activity. Merit on the other hand don't care about the activity cycles. If you receive 1 merit today, you gonna have this merit til the end of the forum (if theymos does not change the system in the future of course) you can't loose it, there are some exceptions* as well but you probably won't face them anyway. Basically your meirt score won't decrease, can only increase. There are other merit called sMerit ( sendable merit) which you accumulate by receiving merits for your posts. The ratio is 2 received merit creates 1 sendable. That's pretty much all you need to know at the begging.

Maybe i saw many members here not welcomed new members and something you can say not polite
I'll tell you why, there are thousands of accounts created every day. 80% of those accounts are most likely spammers looking to make some income from posting zero-value posts, accounts controlled by bots to post zero-value posts in the Alts Announcement section just to create fake volume (and hype), the other 20% can be a genuine newbies looking for information, help or just enjoying the forum. From those 20% maybe 0.1% actually became a good valuable members, the reset loose interest very quickly, they get an answer of their question, or just never come back. So the chance that a newbie fall under the 80% of the low value poster is very high, especially when they ask how can they make money here. What we (the somehow established members) have experienced is that the chance of a newbie like you asking the same question, to actually become an asset for the community is close to 0. That's why you see some bad attitude from the other members. Sorry to say but that is the true, you can just ignore what other think about you and keep doing what you do and see how far you gonna go. Just read the forum rules to be sure that you have come chance to stay here longer.

First you need to learn how to use the search engine. There are already many different threads about how to get merit. Check my Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk. there is also a lot of info. Pretty much all you need in the beginning. Tips: Don't focus on earning from the day 1, focus on learning, the benefits will come later. Same IRL, you need to study to find a good job, so you can't just spam around and expect to get merit, rank up and earn.

Has anyone even read the last news?? THE RUSSIAN CENTRAL BANK CANNOT BAN BITCOIN NOR OTHER CRYPTOCURRENCIES!!read the quote below! This should be enough to stop the FUD, look at the price of BTC it is skyrocketing now The Director of the Bank of Russia’s legal department has admitted that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies cannot realistically ever be banned in the country. Although cryptocurrencies are not exactly legal in Russia, it seems like they won’t ever be banned, either. That’s the latest news from the Russian government. Although Russia has a love hate relationship with crypto and bitcoin, what do you think about this admission? I think personally no bank can control it, but they don't admit it. What do you think about this? If you want to read the full article, you can click on the link below https://beincrypto.com/russian-central-bank-admits-it-cant-ban-bitcoin/

Let's not disappoint the newcomers. They can always buy a copper membership and have a signature. He should be given a chance, if he fails to post a OK content then he will loose his investment. This seems to be the best practice, If you want to participate in any signature campaigns, you need to buy a membership. If you are good enough, you get much more than what you have invested, if not, the forum benefits and your account is gone.

I would expect all merit sources to get adjusted again in May: Last adjustment was in November and used the prior six months of data.
Sounds fair to me, this explians why it took some months to get the MS application approved of one of the best sources out there - LoyceV. Anyway, hope this thread will save theymos some time. OP updated!
Bump!

Nothing New on the Western That Front Shall I consider that theymos has seen this topic but thinks it's unnecessary to make any changes and the idea is not good, that's why he remained silent, or I shall keep bumping this until we get a positive/negative response?

I can't filter who might have disappeared from the forum because of the virus but you can get some hints by just check regularly Top 1000 merit receivers who were not active the past 30 days. Then you know who is "gone" for a while. Then I should start updating this list more often. We have a really bad flu here in Norway (not the corona one) and many people die from this one too, you can't focus only on covid-19, accidents happen every day. Stay safe people

What the hell the OP is crying for ??
The price is 0.00454114 BTC, this is less than 25 EUR.
Where can I rant about the crazy NOK drop from yesterday and huge part of our savings is gone?! Don't complain about 25 Euro man.. this is like nothing... the sig spammers are doing this for a week of shitposting.. well this is what you should rant about!

What is the point of the FUD OP? We have gathered here strong bitcoin believers and I see no way you can break this apart with your assumptions. It is an economical crisis worldwide and it is completely normal everything to go down. People are still not so confident to buy or trade crypto in general because the market is very dynamic and big part are thinking it's a bubble, which it isn't. Now much more people own bitcoin than 5 years ago, most of them have no idea of how the markets are moving, they just sold their homes back in 2017 to take this amazing investment opportunity. Basically dumb people are dumb, you can't help it. When there is 2000$ or more move people start selling in panic no matter what asset we are talking about.
Let's keep it real, there is no "safe haven" assets ( except for the toilet paper there days). Bitcon will be here long after we are gone. Don't worry.

Perhaps users who are advertising here can have their own "signature" available in the OP that has something along the lines of "This Signature is available for rent - Visit the HQ Posters renting out their Signatures, Avatars and personal text thread" e.g. This Signature is available for rent - Visit the HQ Posters' renting out their Signatures, Avatars and Personal text thread today
BTW "REnTING" is spelt with an "N" The idea about the signature sounds interesting for sure, this will help those who are looking to advertise on not so big scale to find participants, I will think about it. Thanks for spotting typos, much appreciated.

To be clear; I don't care for anyone's merit over this, I did this out of personal curiosity (as referenced), and made it clear to DarkStar_ the intent. If you (or anyone else) felt pressured to give merit, that's a "you problem" not a "me problem". Regardless, I return your precious smerit There is no "you problem" nor a "me problem" there is not problem at all and I don't want any "precious smerit" back. Now we are even. I've been honest of what was my first impresion of seeing you PM. As I said above, you did a good job you put a lot of effort, it is constructive and informative data and I have nothing against you. I decided to give you the merit not because I felt pressured, but because of what you created.
