I'm working on the OP but the lack of free time will be a problem this whole week.
I have a suggestion that I think it is good for you  Wink I have a lot of free time in the near future, so I can help you check and update information from other users (weekly). Then, the update will be placed here for you to update OP easily. Basically, it's like the work ralle14 is doing on Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns. What do you think about this suggestion?

This sounds interesting. Then I will try to setup the new changes in the rules by tomorrow and see how this will plays out. I can for sure update the OP once a week, like every Monday or something.
Time files...

I'm working on the OP but the lack of free time will be a problem this whole week. I have a big project @work on Thursday and the updates I have to make from the PC. I'll see if I can get it finished today or tomorrow. There will be changes in the rules as well. Thanks to Loycev for giving a hand with the past 120 days check up Wink

Good evening everyone,

First of all I sincerely apologize for the response time, since the end of 2019 / early 2020 I am very busy, which means that I have no time to go to the forum.

@iasenko told me about your subject, would you like me to help you install it ?

Hello lulu,

I think the OP gave up on this one. There is another project using epochtalk as well : https://coinbistro.com/ so I talked with the guys who set up the Epochtalk there and ask if they can make an installation guide for newbies. Here is the installation guide they created.

After the drama with game-protect and all the threats that they will closed down bitcointalk if they get banned (which actually happened a few days ago), I think theymos can pull this joke quite successful. Just redirect the main page to

Actually, the very first post is archived here > https://bitcointalk.org/first_topics/1.pdf
Those were the first posts made in the Admin side of the forum (Staff Forum) of course by Satoshi himself.
You can find the other historical posts from the staff forum here > https://bitcointalk.org/first_topics/
I just love this history Smiley

Just to be clear, the rule is that a user has to have at least 100 Merits received in the last 120 days or overall? I guess it's the first (in the last 120 days), but you should put that in writing just to be clear.
If there's no time limit mentioned, it doesn't make sense to assume 120 days.
Basically, 1006 users qualify.

True. That's why I suggested that OP edit the rule to make it that only those who received 100 Merits in the last 120 days can apply. If anything, it would be easier for him to maintain the list.

Besides, I really think that people who want to rent someone's signature don't care about people who received 100 Merits from the time Merits were introduced on the forum.

I was thinking about it but then I have to provide the users
(and me)  a way to check their 120 days merit history. I know LoyceV has this project running, maybe just a list with those with +100 updated weekly can be enough.
This i will decide next week.
1628  Other / Meta / Re: Merit/activity ratio. on: March 07, 2020, 03:16:40 PM
Interesting statistics, i've just crossed the 2:1, merit:activity. On the way to cross the 2:1 post:merit, which is not that bad taking in consideration that many posts were just lists with users Smiley
Receiving 1 in every second post and only 2 posts in WO (i actually have 2 posts there but no merit).
Maybe i should start hunting for merit to improve those stats...
Funnily enough I thought doing lists of users WAS merit hunting! Who’s not giving a merit to a list with your name in?
/j
/s

I get the sense of what you are saying, but bear in mind that “merit hunting” is a very loose concept. What you think is a worth and honest post, can be labelled as merit hunting by other users (happened to me in the past).

Also regarding WO, unpopular opinion: there is a lot of noise, for sure, but a lot of signal can be found there: concealed in memes, lateral humor, inside jokes, often you can find true pearls of wisdom.

Hehe, i was excited to reach the 1000 merit for sure, but i wasn't in hurry because the lack of activity. After i hit that milestone it's not so exciting anymore as you have no ndw goals to chase. To be honest i pushed a bit only to rank up to Full Member, because I wanted to have an avatar, so there were 2-3 merit giveaways i joined. That was it.
Now does not really matters if i have merit or not, same with the signature, im just pleased to be on one of the best campaigns in the forum, its more like reputation.
What i really miss is the fun reporting those homograph cheaters, it brings a lot of pleasure to hunt them, now there are just bumping bots...
1629  Economy / Services / Re: [LIST] People renting out their signatures, avatars and p. text. on: March 07, 2020, 03:04:55 PM
The next update will be next week, maybe on Monday, depends on how i am with the free time.
Those who are on the list and have entered in a campaign sig+avatar will be removed. Im considering to change a bit the format and add trust + link to bpip project.

Have a nice weekend guys Smiley

I've found almost 2k scammers last year fell bad not to be on the list, I've stopped cause I was promised with a very small payment in the past (around 200$ for a lot of hours of effort) and got scammed in the end.

Sorry to say, but if you are doing it for money, then you are doing it wrong.
I dedicated every day many hours in chasing spammers, reporting, but I do not expect anything for my time spent here (not exactly true, I actually feel good while doing it). Well, I joined signature campaign but this does not reflect the time I use to report, connect accounts, browse spreadsheets, compare posts etc. so I don't take it as a payment for what i report. It's just a side earnings from my activity in here. Before I joined the campaign I did the same.
Putting a nail in the coffin of the old baking system and moving to a mass adoption should be enough reward Smiley

Never said that.
I was doing the same thing as usual reporting abusers on the thread and a manager told me "great help me on find the abusers and I will pay at the end the bounty".
I've continued to report abusers even after this never kept promised and I've never did for money lol.

Sorry if I understood it wrong but the way you wrote it sounded like you never got paid what you were promised for bust scammers and you gave up on doing it because of that.
Now it's much more clear.
Anyway, you have my respect.

<...>
There should be no need now. The rank now shows the regulars ranks for all profiles on the file I publish along with the Dashboard update. If, on the other hand,we still want to see on that file the original rank that is really shown on the profile (I.e. copper member, staff, etc.), I can add a column with this info later on.

No, no need to add a column just for this, the real ranks are important the sub ranks are just for information and as you said you can always check them in the user's profile page.
Thanks, I was thinking drop some work off your back if you are doing it solely for me, but if it's already done, it's OK. BTW if you need any help with anything, just shoot a PM, i'll be glad to help you out Smiley

According to the file ^ mu_enrico is Legendary but in the reality, he is still a Hero, so I have to trun to @DDmr for help.
Yep, that case and a few others are not trivial to derive, since their profile states they are Copper Members without displaying the rank (you need to go to a post of theirs to the real rank). I can derive the proper rank for most Copper Members (have done so for a while), but those with merits and minimum activity for Legendary need a bit more (manual) work (only on these Copper Member cases). I think I've got the Copper Members all correct now.

I’m also trying to do that with all non-standard ranks (i.e. staff, etc.), and have succeded for the most, but again a few need manual supervision and there are a few I still need to review over the coming days to get it right. When I succeed, there should be no non-regular ranks displayed (there are still a few I need to look into later on).

Do you have the raw version of the file with all those Copper Members? Maybe I can just filter them based on the copper rank who have the needed Activity and received merit and go trough the list. Everyone with merit over 1000 with + at least 500 received merit should have been a Hero when the merit system kicked in, it should be easy to check. This can be applied also to the other ranks like Staff.
1634  Other / Beginners & Help / {WARNING}pppd vulnerability put Linux users in danger. Keep your crypto safe. on: March 06, 2020, 02:26:39 PM
Anyone having Linux out there can be affected, the vulnerability was found in the PPP daemon (pppd) software which comes preinstalled on most of the Linux distributions and some network devices.
There is no fix yet, but security patches would come out soon so stay tuned.

Critical PPP Daemon Flaw Opens Most Linux Systems to Remote Hackers

Quote
The US-CERT today issued advisory warning users of a new dangerous 17-year-old remote code execution vulnerability affecting the PPP daemon (pppd) software that comes installed on almost all Linux based operating systems, as well as powers the firmware of many other networking devices.

The affected pppd software is an implementation of Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) that enables communication and data transfer between nodes, primarily used to establish internet links such as those over dial-up modems, DSL broadband connections, and Virtual Private Networks.

Discovered by IOActive security researcher Ilja Van Sprundel, the critical issue is a stack buffer overflow vulnerability that exists due to a logical error in the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) packet parser of the pppd software, an extension that provides support for additional authentication methods in PPP connections.
The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2020-8597 with CVSS Score 9.8, can be exploited by unauthenticated attackers to remotely execute arbitrary code on affected systems and take full control over them.

For this, all an attacker needs to do is to send an unsolicited malformed EAP packet to a vulnerable ppp client or a server.

Additionally, since pppd often runs with high privileges and works in conjunction with kernel drivers, the flaw could allow attackers to potentially execute malicious code with the system or root-level privileges.

"This vulnerability is due to an error in validating the size of the input before copying the supplied data into memory. As the validation of the data size is incorrect, arbitrary data can be copied into memory and cause memory corruption, possibly leading to the execution of unwanted code," the advisory says.

"The vulnerability is in the logic of the eap parsing code, specifically in the eap_request() and eap_response() functions in eap.c that are called by a network input handler."

"It is incorrect to assume that pppd is not vulnerable if EAP is not enabled or EAP has not been negotiated by a remote peer using a secret or passphrase. This is due to the fact that an authenticated attacker may still be able to send unsolicited EAP packet to trigger the buffer overflow."

pppd Bug: Affected Operating Systems and Devices

According to the researcher, Point-to-Point Protocol Daemon versions 2.4.2 through 2.4.8 — all versions released in the last 17 years — are vulnerable to this new remote code execution vulnerability.

Some of the widely-used, popular Linux distributions, listed below, have already been confirmed impacted, and many other projects are most likely affected as well.

    Debian
    Ubuntu
    SUSE Linux
    Fedora
    NetBSD
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Besides this, the list of other vulnerable applications and devices (some of them listed below) that ship the pppd software is also likely extensive, opening a large attack surface for hackers.

    Cisco CallManager
    TP-LINK products
    OpenWRT Embedded OS
    Synology products

Users with affected operating systems and devices are advised to apply security patches as soon as possible, or when it becomes available.

At the time of writing, The Hacker News is not aware of any public proof-of-concept exploit code for this vulnerability or any in-the-wild exploitation attempts.

@DroomieChikito You are also on the list with a small correction, 600+ received merit.

I thoguth to inlude turst but it will be too much info, maybe link to BPIP for more stats instead and replace the post link. What you guys think?

Will you be removing users if/when they join a SigComp?  A few of the SigComps have become quite fluid recently and closed at short notice.

I'm planning to check every user on the list once a week and probablly update the merit, and if they have paid signature + avatar then I will remove them.
Maybe a simple post as I joned a campaign can also save me some time but this will be considered later. I have to see how many participants there will be.
1639  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: March 06, 2020, 10:58:45 AM
What is the policy for the old posts that got deleted? Only the post count is taken in consideration or the actual posts made during the week? Example: if you have posted in a self-moderated thread, and the OP decides to remove your comments from his thread after 3-4 months. You have your post count increased with only 10 posts but you have posted 12 posts during the week.
1640  Economy / Services / Re: [LIST] People renting out their signatures, avatars and p. text. on: March 06, 2020, 09:34:43 AM

You need at least 100 merit to be on that list.

@Timelord2067
You messed up my format, but FIFY.

@LoyceV
I have a new rule now, so I had to de-list you because of that. Hope the Thick-Skinned Gang Leader won't de-friend me because of that. I updated the mobile version of you, tho. Wink
