1801  Other / Meta / Re: Don't you guys think it's time for LN to have it's own (sub)section now? on: February 11, 2020, 11:11:42 PM
The number on some board is small because most LN question/topic happened on one megathread, The Lightning Network FAQ.

Exactly this. The twelfth page of the FAQ thread is a good example of that. Most of the questions asked there could be divided into separate threads.

I already can point out the mod for the section - BitCryptex if he agrees of course Smiley

Sure.

Great, I hope this will be a good example why we need a separate section, but as i said before is not needed to be a  designated section only for Lighting Network it can cover the other Layer 2 Protocols.
1802  Other / Meta / Re: Request an option to cancel a report. on: February 11, 2020, 04:57:50 PM
If there's no cool down time, then this is also a good solution for those posts which are unhandled for more than a year. No need to bother the mods and often those posts are outdated so taking them off the queue would be good for the forum.
1803  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any way of gaining positive trust to remove the Negative trust on: February 11, 2020, 01:46:19 PM
Hello. most accounts here do have negative trust and it is as a result of promoting scams OR indulging in scam activities. It is one way of identifying scandalous members here.
what if such people decided to change and become better people. what are the ways of removing the negative trust on them and accepting them back to the community as trusted members.

The affected account can try to send PM to the person who left the negative feedback, but most of the time there is no change. Again depends who left you the feedback. Some people is some occasions tend to change their feedback in neutral.
In general it's almost the same with plagiarism, if you get caught with plagiarism you get banned, and that's for life, like you cannot create new account and start form the scratch, with you "career" in the forum is finished.

1804  Other / Meta / Request an option to cancel a report. on: February 11, 2020, 01:10:30 PM
If I have reported 20 posts and one of them I see I've reported it twice, it would be nice to have an option to cancel this report.
This saves the time of the mods to go trough and spears you a "bad report" ( no, i don't care so much about the bad reports).
It can be even with a cool down time of like 30 sec., It's enough if you make a mistake to correct it.
1805  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: EARN BITCOIN WITH THIS SIMPLE STRATEGY on: February 11, 2020, 09:04:32 AM
This is the swing trade strategy. Try to follow the swings of the market to make profit. Keep in mind that this is not a day-trading, of course there are sometimes big swings in a matter of hours but not that often.  This is more like long term trading. It is also dangerous if you setup unreal goals and the greed plays a big role as well you need to control it and make reasonable TA, not how it suits you.I normally trade 2-3 times in a year.
You have to learn to wait and have patience.

1807  Other / Meta / Re: Launch Possible of bitcointalk.org forum mobile application ? on: February 10, 2020, 10:31:14 AM
This question pops up several times per year:

https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=016660200577587308545%3Aesf40ml9aag&ie=UTF-8&q=mobile&sa=Google+search#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=mobile%20version%20bitcointalk&gsc.sort=

The thing is, there is a new forum script for bitcointalk that is in development, so i don't think Theymos will install a mobile theme for SMF (because he customised SMF, it's not as simple as installing a theme on a plain vanilla version of SMF).

That being said, i've been giving the answer of epochtalk being in development for years... Literally... For the untrained eye, it looks like the development stalled, i don't know if there's any kind of timeframe for the conversion SMF => epochtalk, but if there is a timeframe, i don't think it'll be anytime soon...

There is no time-frame, the forum is basically ready for use, but there are still so many bugs that someone has to report and fix. I've open a thread regarding the development process to monitor the changes and bug fixes.
According the last of theymos on the topic we are the ones to "decide" when it will be ready, it's all to us to test it and report the bugs.

~
In short: If you want the software quicker, go run your own forum with it, and work to get any problems or missing features you find resolved via bug reports, etc. This would increase public interest, provide much-needed testing, and I might even hire you to work on bitcointalk.org when we're ready to do the final transition here.

Back on topic there are already many mobile solutions like this > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4500633.0
But nothing official.
1808  Other / Meta / Re: Most informative posts in 24 h on: February 10, 2020, 09:25:22 AM
The idea behind it is good, I was really looking for something like this to make my project (I discontinued it due to low level of interest and lack of time).
So basically I support the idea.
The thing I don't like here is that you have to a third-party website (which I don't know and don't trust) to see those results , nowadays everyone should be very careful what he is doing.
In addition the controversy with you account, you choose a bad username. It was a clever way to trick the system for sure.
What is the difference with LoyceV's ones?
What are the conditions to list the results?
1809  Other / Meta / Re: Active users, top posters and most active topics in the past 1h, 24h and 7d on: February 10, 2020, 09:03:10 AM
I am friendly-bumping this thread with one remark (and request).
On your home page of the loyce.cubs website the link to the Most active topics is missing. You have only the links for the active members (luckily you have the link to this topic too Smiley .
I know you are busy man (even the AI are busy these days), but when you have some free time, just add a link. Thank you Smiley

Edit: Actually under the user are the topics. so you just need to edit the link text and add the (topics). Smiley

How about : Active users, top posters and active topics in the past 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days (topic on Bitcointalk)
1810  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is the owner of Bitcoin on Twitter? on: February 08, 2020, 11:27:43 PM
I think Roger Ver, gave up shortly after the deletion of the @Butcoin, during the Twitter crypto purge.
I remember a random dude posting from it.
It's good that Ver gave up whoever is in control now its only better for bitcoin.
Hopefully soon Ver will give up on Bitcoin.com as well and hand in over to theymos.

So, looks like the official @bitcoin account was deleted and someone has just resisted it again.
Looks like a noob to me but he's gonna make some money for sure.

At least you didn't do anything stupid to get yourself banned. That means that you still have a chance to change.

The people already told you, you(in the forum) actually is your post history, you can't escape it, but you can change it.
There are so many different things you can do to improve. Meke sometimes significant, something that will make you learn new things, like setup a full node, set up a lighting node on top of it, open some channels, make a guide how the newbies can install Epochtalk, make a video lesson, generate a vanity address, learn and ask questions and you'll see that later the campaign managers will prefer you instead of the others. You will be the top candidate, trust me.

Remember,
In order to receive something, you need to give(do) something as well. If you really learn something, then share it with the others. You will only benefit from it.
It's not as easy as the one-liner posts but it benefits you in may ways,
You improve yourself, you make some profit from what you learned, you find friends here and you improve your writing style for sure Smiley
1812  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase is scammers.. on: February 07, 2020, 10:17:55 PM
I have a coinbase account since 2013, i lost my phone 2 years ago together with my Google 2fa (silly mistake) then i had to contact the support, i got reply in 7 days.
That was October/November during the crazy bull run and even then I got my problem solved.
Just a few days ago I log in on a pc (i use the app on the mobile most of the time) and i got warning that my account is not 100% approved and i have to send proof of my current address like invoice on my name.
I was a bit disappointed as all my funds in coinbase are from mining or bough with credit card but still i had to prove where i live.
Other than that, i never had any issues with coinbase/Gdax and i'm a long time user.

1813  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: February 07, 2020, 06:49:46 PM
Ok guys my lightning node is up and running. Any strategies while opening channels? I'm not doing it for profit (i guess you can't make any significant profits with that low fees anyway) so wonder how much to put in a channel. I won't have any transactions from my side in the beginning, it will be only to interconnect different nodes and create better routes, later i may open some channels for transactions as well?

How about paying for campaigns trough LN? What you think, opening a channel with the campaign manager and close it when the campaign is over, just to boost a bit the LN?
1814  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coinbase is scammers.. on: February 07, 2020, 11:57:04 AM
so i can't transfer my btc from coinbase?

I know it's not the best option but can't you cash them out in paypal (I don't know how are the regulations with paypal in Turkey), it's the easiest and quickest way? You loose a little bit but you can re-buy bitcoin again.
There is another option you can try but you have to have someone you can trust and someone who already have coinbase account. You can transfer coins between coinbase accounts while using only email address, so you can send it to this another person who can withdraw then you your other wallet.
There is a third option too, create a Coinbase Pro account and transfer the coins to it - it's free of charge, then try to withdraw from Coinbase Pro.

Those are the things I would try if I was in your situation.
1815  Economy / Services / Re: Are there any avatar campaigns? I'll do a list :) on: February 07, 2020, 11:46:49 AM
~
Exactly this. Yes it is possible to add a link to a personal text just below the avatar, but companies prefer to monitor the results of their marketing and if it's not a clickable link, there is no way to no which users were attracted to your website from bitcointalk, except of course running a survey which does not give accurate results.

Also the ease of just clicking on a hyperlink and being directed immediately to a website would attract more users than if they had to copy the link and open it in a new tab. Considering that most signature campaigns maximize their investments by requesting users to use both the signature and avatar and sometimes also the personal text, and there are members willing to do it reduces the chance of avatar only bounties being popular.

Please someone merit this man ^, ouf of merit.. again.
via Imgflip Meme Generator
I fully agree with that, but there is another factor that plays a role here.
That's why some people tend to use the website link in their profiles which has an clickable icon right under their avatar. Well it's not that obvious of course like a direct link on the picture or text but it is still useful.
1816  Other / Meta / Re: 2020 Merit Source Application - iasenko. on: February 07, 2020, 11:35:24 AM
Ah, I was wrong. I thought you are already in merit source list.
For some reason I had the same impression as well, and I guess I missed this thread when iasenko started it, but I absolutely support his application and wish him good luck with it.

Not sure what Theymos is thinking as far as adding more merit sources, but I think when solid members like OP do apply, he ought to just make them a source without thinking too hard on it.  It's not like this forum has too many or that shitposters are ranking up way too fast.

I also thought that OP is already merit source because he is really very good candidate,  well respected in the forum and he already received a lot support here.
I guess theymos waiting to see performance of other merit sources and how merits are distributed in the forum and based on that info he will probably increase number of available merits for existing merit sources and add new one.

Thank you for the kind words, let me use the opportunity to bump this thread again this week with the hope that theymos will have it in mind when the time for selecting new merit source comes. I'm out of sMerit at the moment so all those who I bump into and deserve will have to wait a little. Where I can I ask other people to merit their posts.
1817  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers for more than a year. on: February 07, 2020, 09:46:05 AM
I've found some peculiar posts from lilialfahas94. At first, I thought it could be plagiarism, but I couldn't find anything. It looks like he's creating long posts to spam "Vollar" (see this example, but there are more), and spams links to his own topics in his other topics.
If someone has the time to dig deeper: go ahead Smiley

Hmm, after quick look, I tried one post and here are the results.

According to the Washington Post, Brennan Center for Justice, a non-profit organization focused on criminal justice, said hundreds of local police departments across the United States spent about $4.75 million on software tools to monitor the location of those active protesters or social media accounts used by the suspects to collect data on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other websites. Public has no aware of such behaviors. It seems to be an unspoken secret that chat and social media are monitored, and everyone takes various measures to keep their privacy from being revealed. Is the Internet convenient or intrusive?

Since Internet is controlled by a centralized server, there’s no privacy at all, and the disclosure of personal information is not uncommon. Each platform, in order to count big data, monitors the traces we leave, and even sells user information. Our privacy is used in a variety of business, political, and even criminal activities that we can’t stop. VDS adopts decentralization and encryption technology to solve privacy problems, and develops a secret chat system based on a distributed anonymous network.

The reason why VDS does not use a centralized method for data transmission and storage is that many encrypted chat tolls using centralized servers are forced to submit user data, keys and other contents under the mandatory requirements of centralized agencies, governments and other departments during some special events and periods. Not only that, the fault tolerance rate of the encrypted chat tool run by the centralized server is very low, it is difficult to guarantee that a “center” will never go wrong, a perfect security system will also have vulnerabilities. Therefore, in the secret chat of VDS, numerous master nodes are selected as distributed servers to provide network services such as information transmission and data operation, they do not store user information or chat content. All information is only saved on the local devices of sending and receiving parties, which eliminates information leakage caused by the fact that central server is monitored or attacked by relevant departments from the root cause. Information transmission is further secured because hackers cannot track or lock these servers which relies on technology to hide node IP. Masternodes constitute a distributed anonymous network, which is the basis of secret chat in the VDS ecosystem. Based on blockchain technology, anonymous network decentralizes the entire system through distributed nodes and makes the system more secured and stable. Since the network is composed of numerous nodes, the attack on several of them will not paralyze the whole network or cause data loss. The IP anonymity of super master nodes offers a protective umbrella for the entire network.

And in order to avoid being tracked or content monitored, the secret chat of VDS is achieved through distributed encryption transmission. Each piece of information will be broken into fragments, encrypted in different ways, and transmitted through different nodes. Each node in the process of transmission cannot obtain the complete information and make storage, nor monitor any chat content. VDS has enhanced encryption or decentralization in every step of the transmission process. The meticulous design makes chat data monitoring and information leakage impossible, which avoids the defects of the centralized chat tools to the greatest extend and guarantees user privacy.

Most of the centralized chat tools require the account registration of a centralized institution. With personal info involved, this has become one of the hidden dangers for the unavoidable monitor. As a decentralized chat tool, VDS does not require personal info at registration, nor does it require the verification of any centralized institutional account. The only thing needed is consumption of Vollar, the currency circulating in the VDS ecosystem, to fulfill the creation of VID so as to use secret chat. VID is just a proof of identity in the VDS ecosystem, without requirement of authentic identity info, which not only makes VDS’s secret chat completely anonymous, but also respects users’ personal privacy, so that everyone reserve their right to provide personal info at the use of social platform.

The original intention of the social platform was to use the Internet technology to shorten the distance between people, but how long has it been since our last free speak of mind with friends? How long has it been since we were comfortable sharing people our contact information? How many times have we double-checked to turn off privacy Settings? In the secret chat of VDS, you don’t have to worry any more, just feel free to speak, rest assured to share your VID with others and no more need to check privacy Setting. VDS will not use or store any chat message, transmission is in decentralized encryption. It is a real anonymous network, a platform for freedom.

In VDS, personal information and chat records belong only to individuals and cannot be monitored by anyone.

1818  Other / Meta / Re: My Own Personalized Merit calculator on: February 07, 2020, 08:53:57 AM
the idea is good and there will be enough people with interest Smiley
but you should consider doing it online or using other technology.
the download of an executable file is nowadays a (good!) reason to distance yourself from the service... much too risky.
nothing against you but fortunately the users are getting more and more careful and an .exe (from unknown source) always looks dangerous.

Thanks for the reminder, soon I might as well try to study and use node, angular and javascript, in order for me to develop easily accessible application which is multi platform and web based. But i couldn't force everyone to download because, I myself know that exe files are less secured, though, I don't have any option yet.

I used google spreadsheets for mine when I had the time to do the calculator, and is quite OK. People tend to trust google a bit more than some anonymous guy on internet asking them to install a shady program on their PCs, all done with "good" intentions.
Especially in the crypto field where most of the people have their wallets on the same pcs/phones as they are using to browse the forum/internet you can't expect no matter how friendly they can be, that they will trust you. I'm sure at least 95% of all the users here have been scammed one way or another and they have learned their lesson. The other 5% have a bit more common sense Wink
1819  Other / Meta / Re: Market Place - Computer hardware "split" proposal. on: February 07, 2020, 07:59:06 AM
Agree, looking for a grapich cards to buy sometimes is pain in the ... you know.
Computer hardware and mining hardware can be a bit confusing if you are selling your mining rig in parts, so the graffic cards actually fall under both section and the mining MBs fall under the mining section. There should be a better divison like ASIC Miners and Computer Hardware maybe.
1820  Other / New forum software / Re: Please help me to install epochtalk, I have zero idea about github on: February 06, 2020, 11:44:05 PM
So that's why it is important to make it more popular so it can be tested and improved.
You (and suchmoon) very likely already know that but just to make things clear for everyone reading: the best way of doing that right now is probably by using and bug testing Cryptos-Currencies.com (which uses epochtalk).

In addition to this one there is one more, https://coinbistro.com/ which was created by Cyrus and the recovery team. I wonder if there are other installations around which we haven't heard of yet.

Edit: I just ask them if someone can make a guidelines, or video on how to install Epochtalk fro newbies. Hope it will be more popular that way.
