261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Denying yourself comfortability in other to buy Bitcoin on: January 21, 2024, 11:19:32 AM
They are determined and dedicated to believe in the long term benefit of Bitcoin while making personal sacrifices to secure their future. Based on their commitment to keep to their decision it makes me ask myself how do this set of person go about their daily lives when they know they can afford those things they see around?

It all depends on your level of contentment, having just the basic things of life and delay enjoying all your money presently because you understand what priorities is vital in your journey to financial freedom. You should spend more on investing instead of spending on buying liability that won't generate any income for you but keep taking away from you. Denying yourself comfortability helps to keep money aside for investing. The money you would had used in buying liability just to enjoy life can be used to build yourself generational wealth by first investing in Bitcoin.

Quote
Do you think this is a strategy to accumulate Bitcoin faster because of the volatile nature of Bitcoin? Lastly have anyone come across any individual who will deny his comfort for Bitcoin and what do you think are their motivations?

It does obviously because there are more money available for investing in Bitcoin and you can live without all those liability in the world that people put more importance on them. While I was in the university I had money to get myself a car but I didn't buy one but used the money for something else which wasn't buying Bitcoin but get give my an Idea of how investing can be very beneficial. We shouldn't try to be over comfortable while we haven't achieved financial freedom. We should allocate more money to investing irrespective of the investment not being Bitcoin but provided it's an investment that'll give you profits, we should go for them and not buying liability.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin an opportunity like land on: January 21, 2024, 10:50:04 AM
Buy now and don't start waiting for huge dip before entering. Trust me you would miss out.
There are people that sold their lands around 5 years ago and are regretting not keeping till date.
In the case of having a land, i believe leasing is better.

Investing is done to generate wealth so if you invested in an assets and you have gained then why are you regretting. You probably sold because you needed the money for something important so you shouldn't not be regretting your decision of selling but be contended with what you have and strategize another way to make investment in the future to profit. Unless you sold out of fear or in loss then that's when you can be regretting the decision but let us learn to let go of the habit of regretting our decision when we had a positive result from the decision.

Bitcoin is better than land but they're both important and quality investment because they don't only secure your wealth but also appreciate it. If I was giving an advice between the two assets, I'll recommend investing in Bitcoin and the profits can be used to purchase land. Most land are overpriced and not worth the amount they're selling it and I always believe there'll available land to purchase in the future because if you can't afford land in your environment, you can go elsewhere and buy as many as you can for a lesser price but If you miss buying Bitcoin cheap, you'll be buying it costlier in the future.
263  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are your expectations for the few weeks after the halving period? on: January 21, 2024, 10:28:33 AM
There is so much expectation about the bitcoin Halving, and it has even attracted many investors to bitcoins who want to be able to profit from bitcoins after the halving. What is expected to happen during the halving? It is expected for bitcoin to set a new All time high price. After the Halving, what do you think may happen? Do you think that the number of sellers will increase after the halving, sellers of bitcoins from people who want to cash out on the profit they have made?

One fact about the halving is that new money will be flowing into the market and after the halving there'll be some corrections became of short term investors and obviously newbies that don't know how things work will start taking profits which will lead to the market experiencing some corrections. In the past halving the market doesn't start increasing immediately after the halving is over so I don't expect anything to be different this time around. Fomo before the halving is guaranteed and fud after the halving is also guaranteed.

Quote
Or do you think there will be a reduction in interest of buying bitcoins because of it already very high value that new investors will know they cannot profit from anytime soon?

The price of Bitcoin isn't a factor that affects buyers because they know they don't have to own a full Bitcoin to profit from the market and they know Bitcoin will increase to new ATH after the halving. Even when Bitcoin hits a new ATH and let say it's the peak of the bull market, we still have people buying Bitcoin in anticipation of further increases so the price of Bitcoin hasn't been a problem for people to buy Bitcoin.
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Satoshi Nakamoto remove the 21 million BTC limit? on: January 21, 2024, 10:13:56 AM
Speaking in Davos on Wednesday, JPMorgan CEO and also a well-known bitcoin critic Jamie Dimon made a suggestion that Satoshi Nakamoto might lift the limit on the number of bitcoins, which as we know is 21 million BTC. How would you comment on such a statement?

Bitcoin has a fixed supply of 21 million Bitcoin but we have satoshi as you can send fractions of satoshi therefore Bitcoin supply doesn't need any alterations. Anyone that wants to do that will only get himself his own Bitcoin and they'll all fail like Bitcoin cash, Bitcoin sv and the rest of the forks that all failed. Satoshi himself can't alter the supply of Bitcoin as Bitcoin is no longer under his control although he started the whole thing but Bitcoin is now owned by the community and we have the final say. Any alterations to Bitcoin supply creates another altcoins while Bitcoin will still be existing.

Satoshi needs the community approval to do that but lets say he somehow removing the whole 21 million supply limits, it takes aways the Identity of Bitcoin and just proves that it's actually a centralized coin and not decentralized as it claims but that won't happen so we can't stop thinking about that and concentrate on how we can lower the fees and make the network less congested and more appealing to merchants so they can accept Bitcoin and increase the adoption of the currency.
265  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A practical way to stop procrastinating and start your investment journey. on: January 21, 2024, 09:56:41 AM
Procrastination is the worst habit any person can have and this can make you lose a lot of opportunities in life, speaking for myself, I always wanted to start my investment journey into bitcoin last year and I was busy giving myself all the excuse as to why the next time would be the best time, at the end of the year I only ended up buying 10$ worth of btc and in the late quarters of the year.

Procrastination is bad and not a good attribute to have, procrastination can make you to miss opportunity like investing in Bitcoin when we don't identify the problems we have and try to solve it before it causes us an opportunity to uplift our finances. One thing that leads to procrastination is when you have multiple decisions to make so you can start by reducing your decision if you want to stop procrastinating. Instead of having a list of cryptocurrency that you're monitoring, just have Bitcoin in your portfolio and it'll reduce your procrastination habits but invest in Bitcoin.

Next you need to have a routine, when you have a routine it becomes your way of life and you won't get the chances to procrastinating. A routine you can follow is DCA, when you know that at the end of the month you have to buy Bitcoin with a percentage of your salary that you have set earlier, you won't procrastinate but buy the Bitcoin.

Quote
This process was derived from think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill I only just used it for a different context. Right now I have fixed my cashflow and gotten ride of all my excuses and I'm a proudly DCAING into bitcoin toady. If your a Victim of Procrastination fight it and be set Free.

Writing our your goal always have its positive effect so even though I haven't tried this strategy I believe it'll be effective. Another way to avoid procrastinating is doing it right away. If you get an Idea of buying Bitcoin, do it right away and not wait for when you think the market will be favourable to you. Just buy and move on to do other things and you won't have regrets in the future for taking that bold step.
266  Other / Meta / Re: Allow to make thread self-moderated even after posting on: January 21, 2024, 07:06:25 AM
I didn't make this thread self-moderated when I posted and now I want to as I feel there are few comments that shouldn't be there. Should op be allowed to make thread self-moderated after posting? I.e, able to edit thread later on to make it self-moderated, what do you think?

We have all been there, I have reopened threads on various occasions because I forget to tick the self moderation box and I always wish there was an option to convert those thread into a self moderation one, at least within the first few minutes of the thread been created just as you can edit your topics or replies within the first 10 minutes without it been indicated as edited. But unfortunately that option isn't available and you have to close the thread then reopen another with the self moderation feature.

People's fear are valid because this privilege can be abuse but having the option to be added just few minutes after posting won't damage anything. But on other note, the option shouldn't be available after the post has been posted more than 10 minutes. OP if the administrators does nothing about your suggestion you shouldn't be angry because it isn't a priori at the moment although the suggestion has been brought up in the past but it's something we can do without. We just have to be a little more cautious when creating our topics and not be in a rush to create our threads and if we mistakenly forget, just do the normal thing by locking the thread and reopening a new one with that self moderation option present.
267  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't be deceived!! on: January 20, 2024, 11:57:32 PM
Why waste  your time and risk your KYC data on the shitcoins?  when you can actually easily understand and hodl Bitcoin which is safer and decentralized. Don't be deceived that such coins in the future will turn out to be like Bitcoin.
There are many scam projects out there so make sure to research and most importantly avoid KYC.
Remember don't forget to keep your keys safe!!

Newbie's still won't hear, they want to make money so quickly that they'll believe everything they see online, just because few lucky project were able to list on top exchanges and made those that farm their airdrops some project doesn't just make every project you see to be worth claiming either through mining or whatever name they what to call it. Buying and hodling Bitcoin would always be superior to investing in any altcoins no matter how the altcoins are gotten whether free or through the so called mining and don't forget you're not getting those altcoins for free as you're trading your time for their piece of shit.

Here is the catch ;
these miners refer as much people as they can so they can increase their mining rate and their coins, which on the other hand brings more profit to the developers. Now the more people troop in to accumulate the coins the more KYC Data the developers can accumulate. These creators can later sell these data for their profit in the future.

The projects sell out their crowdfunding from the referrals buying the tokens in anticipation of making alot of profits when they get listed, at the end of the day it's the project that benefits more as they raise more fund and get to go away with millions of dollars without developing the project and they can do this continuously for as many projects as they want yet people keep falling for the same tricks.
268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to change trading pairs on existing holdings? on: January 20, 2024, 11:49:53 PM
Amazing, thanks everyone.
If it makes no difference to long term value of the coin, if I originally bought it with USDT pair or BTC pair, then I’ll just leave everything as it is.

Glad you get that now because as I read the first replies they weren't not understanding you and I was about clarifying what you just said above. It doesn't really matter which pair you bought but if you're tracking your portfolio with satoshi value and not just USDT value you'll understand why altcoins aren't been advice to hodl on the forum. While as you'll make profit in USD value but you'll keep getting lesser sats value so technically it would had been better to hodl Bitcoin instead of the altcoin you bought.

Let say you bought 1 ETH for 0.05 BTC (and the value was $2,500) when you want to sell in the future, you could have double your profits in USD by selling that 1 ETH for $5000 but with a lesser BTC value ( lets say 0.04) so while you made profits in USD you lost in BTC because Bitcoin increase in value and it would had been better just holding BTC).

Don't store your coins on exchanges, altcoins are a gamble so I don't hodl it against you if you want to gamble but don't trust centralized exchanges nor wallet providers to store your coin with them for a long time. They can be hacked quite easily and they can freeze your assets not giving you control of the coins you think you own when storing them on their platform.
269  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Have you benefited from SOCIAL MEDIA AD? on: January 20, 2024, 11:32:47 PM
So with the way all these social media as take de pop up for my phone eh, e no de even take me time before I go just skip the ad continue with wetin I de do.

I understand say some of these things when dem de promote actually de legit but because of the way them de use promote am eh, e de hard me to even look at the advert twice.

E get how our brain dey work, shey you know say if you dey road and dey lookout for red cars, you go see plenty red cars than when you no dey think about red cars and dey road. Na the same way ads dey work, you dey see all those ads wey be say you dey see so when time reach to buy things wey dey in the same category as those ads wey you see, you go mostly choose the ads than the other items because since you dun see the ads before you go trust them pass wetin you no know. As big as coca cola dey dem still dey advertise because dem know the importance of advertisement.

How una see this matter? Una don try out all these social media ads when relate to investment shit and any of them really pays out well in the real sense?

As you dey skip no mean say everybody's dey skip, E get people wey dem dey use the ads and na wetin make this ads dem still full online because dem dey get better positive outcome from the ads. Ads revenue no be here oh, E dey make the business get more popularity and na popularity dey make business dey successful when those popularity are turned into sales. Most of those investment ads dem na ponzi schemes sha and no be legit business so me dey just avoid them but e get people wey dey believe them sha.

Omo the way the country dey go now, I don't think it's wise for any person to have only one source of income again oh, omo
One source of income not for do anybody again. Price if things Don high, house rent Don high, oya the one wey dey shock me now and wey dey still pain me na as common water wey dey everybody house Don add serious price, even as cheap as the major resource them dey use produce am dey.

When you dey a country wey be say even the president no get only one job, him be president and still be minster of petroleum with other small small offices wey him dey keep for himself you suppose understand say e get how the country be. Our lecturers no be only lecturers dem get other side hustle dey or dem dey jungle between two universities dey teach. Our doctors dey do the same thing as dem dey work for government hospitals and still dey work for private hospitals. After all this things wetin make you think you go fit survive with one source of income. You supposed get different hustle wey you dey do incase this one no pay, you no go para but go turn to the other hustle to continue living your life and when both dey pay you fit get enough money to use sustain life.

271  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: After halving, waiting be the sign on: January 20, 2024, 09:04:17 PM
After halving happen we know say e dey always take some times before bull run which is unpredictable to some extent, but at then waiting be early sign the market wan start the bull run.
Make una talk from experience, make people learn because me know say some people fit keep mind for early 2025 make the thing go happen b4 then or after that time.

To begin I'll say the bull markets starts when the price begins to recover from its lowest point but many people think it's when we hit a new ATH. If you invest at the lowest price of Bitcoin and the market recovers to the previous ATH you dun already make so much gain wey be say you no even need to wait for a new ATH to sell and make profits. Even before the halving we go get some bull run but the thing be say after halving, the fomo dey come much wey be say the price of Bitcoin go come reach a new ATH.

I no go advice make you dey wait for signs of a bull run before yo invest in Bitcoin because by the time that signs go dey show it's already too late but e no mean say you no go fit still profits but I dey try talk say we supposed get in during the bear market and not to wait for signs of a bull market to get in. I no go talk talk all this without giving you some insight too on how to identify the bull, just dey monitor the market you see anytime wey you just begin dey see careless altcoins they pump anyhow and everything dey green for a very long time, just know say we dun dey enter the bull market as new money dey flow into the market thereby e dey pump the altcoins them and Bitcoin isn't excepted. The time wey we dey look na 2025 but the bull run will be going on before then although na 2025 na when the peak of the market go dey as usual.
272  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto Trading Risks and Management Model. on: January 20, 2024, 08:43:03 PM
Therefore, as a crypto investor, have it at the back of your mind that , there might be losses or gains.

But then there are principles to apply as investment risk management for every professional investor.

You dey write about investing or you dey write about trading because the thread dey confusing but get some wisdom inside sha. Your title dey talk about trading and if you dey talk about trading for real e get some things wey you write wey no relate well with trading but if Na investing wey you been dey do e make sense. When you dey talk of crypto trading risks and management then e get things wey as a trader you suppose do to reduce the possibility of losing all your money but you no list any of them as all you been dey talk about na investing which isn't bad but the title of the thread might need to be change for better understanding for people.

When you dey trade the exposure wey you dey get wey be the risk na the volatility of the market and how you go fit protect yourself against those volatile na to first understand the market wey you dey inside. Bitcoin is less volatile than altcoins. If you dey altcoins and noticed a dip in Bitcoin market you suppose take cover because normal na dip for the rest of the market wey dey follow after Bitcoin dun get small correction.

You go also get to put stop loss for your traders dem so if the volatility come and the coin wey you dey trade, the stop loss go help reduces the weight of losses wey you go get because of the volatility of the market. This na some of the management things wey me I think dey necessary and I was expecting to see more of this since the title of the thread was talking about trading and risk but not investing.
273  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Holding fiat not the best against Inflation on: January 19, 2024, 09:24:38 PM
How do you think Naira would cope when Bitcoin beats ATH?
I nor really sure say government fit help ahn currently.
We dey experience persistent inflation and dem neva still do anything.

No be Bitcoin wey dey control Naira price, na the economy of the country and the government policies wey dem go pass to use strengthen the country growth so we fit no really know wetin go dey happen dat time but I fit say since the pressure go dey high and the demand for BTC/usdt go high too people fit dey find way to buy BTC or USDT and that one go dey drive up the price of dollars for the cryptocurrency space. Normally dollars prices for the crypto market dey always high well during this time and we fit dey get more higher prices but if governments dun do better things to help the economy, dollars fit fall self..

Quote
This one na proof of the failure of fiat instead of ahn to appreciate e dey Depreciate compare to other product.Holding fiat not the best against Inflation

It has never been a good decision to hodl fiats whether na Naira or other fiat currency. Instead of you holding, investing it will be a better option because of how fiats dey depreciate normally. Investing is the best way to go but since this country get as him dey be, investing no come dey too sure for the country again so if you fit take your investments outside the country e go better and when you invest inside Bitcoin na universal investment you dun do so as e no dey tied to any country but dey independent.

Without giving away too much personal info, I have a chronic disease. I've had this disease for a decade and have had a lot of treatment for it, but it is winning.

Not again, I hate visiting the reputation board because every now and then there's a sad news like this been published and I can't stand the fact that we keep losing people on the forum. If it isn't health issues, it's the death of one of us. I don't understand why the good ones are the ones leaving, you're going to be missed buddy. I know you and I haven't encountered ourselves much on the forum but the little times we have met you wrote like no one I have read their posts on the forum.

You'll be leaving with all your wisdoms and thoughts and that just makes me sad. I hope you know your impact on the forum was appreciated as alot of people gained from your presence here and sadly that's going to be missed. I wish we can't replace you but that's not happening, I'm so sorry that you have been battling with health issues for this long.

I pray God will intervene and he'll heal you buddy, miracle still happen and all hope shouldn't be lost. Let it be known that you had a family here and we'll cherish all the moment you had on the forum. You're leaving a possible impact behind as you depart from the forum. Spending time with family is the  best thing to do buddy, enjoy yourself and we'll miss you.
275  Economy / Reputation / Re: An awoken problem on: January 18, 2024, 11:06:22 PM
A little off topic to the thread but I have seen plenty of people use BitVest campaign all around the forums. Is it like the easiest to get into?

Has one of the most post requirements on the forum (60 posts weekly)
Has one of the most participants (50+)
Has less strict restrictions on the boards to post on.
Has a less strict requirements to become a member of the campaign but that doesn't mean we're accepting everybody that applies as there are alot of rejected applications more than accepted ones.

With this you'll likely see our ads all over the forum but if you notice someone abusing the forum and wearing our signature, report them both to moderators or on the signature thread and they'll be removed with immediate effect.
276  Economy / Reputation / Re: An awoken problem on: January 18, 2024, 10:37:08 PM
You would *think* that now this has happened again that at the end of every payment period a check to see if there is enough on average to cover the next payment +/- a bit of BTC would be an obvious step.

That has been the obvious steps as each fourth week, the wallet has always been refilled (with or without asking lightlord) it has been going on for the last 3 months for both campaign but this week it was missed and reason isn't known but it was never a doubt that the escrow wallet will be refilled. The pausing of the campaign was just a precaution step.

Starting from this month, the refilled will be requested every third week so we have one week funds left incase there's a delay in response (refilling the wallet then pausing the campaign) but we hope that won't be the case in the future.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if all Bitcoin is lost? on: January 18, 2024, 10:21:53 PM
What would happen if all Bitcoin is mined and all Bitcoin is lost?
Lost means that if it can't recover then it will definitely become worthless. And if Bitcoin starts to constantly disappear from the total supply then of course Bitcoin will slowly increase in demand and the price will likely increase a lot.
However, since Bitcoin is decentralized and there is no way to increase the supply like paper money, the more Bitcoins are lost from the supply, the more pressure there is on the amount of Bitcoins left.

You don't understand, the OP means if all the 21 million Bitcoin are mined and by God knows what unfortunate event all got lost (the 21 million Bitcoin got lost), what would happen. From my perspective I'll say we forget that Bitcoin ever existed and we go on with our life's but that's so unlikely to happen because Bitcoin isn't centralized just as you have highlighted and we can't lose all the Bitcoin all at the same time unless something was to happen that all the 21 million Bitcoin that was created get destroys through some kill switch and we don't have anything called Bitcoin anymore but that too is unlikely to happen.

Nobody controls Bitcoin so they can't just make all the Bitcoin to go missing without any trace. Bitcoin is the blueprint of the industry and without it there will be no cryptocurrency industry, if satoshi was alive and all the Bitcoin was to go out of existence, he'll have something to do about the situation to win back the trust of the community and they'll back him.

Maybe a fork could happen and we get new Bitcoin with the same features and values and it's left for the communication to decide if they'll still trust satoshi or not because for anything to be able to remove all the current Bitcoin from existence, then it has to be beyond human and normal computer capacity.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever regretted selling your bitcoins ? on: January 18, 2024, 10:09:30 PM
We've all been there, that moment of realization when you remember selling your precious Bitcoins years ago and wonder if you missed the boat.  Well, take a deep breath, because im here to remind you that in the world of crypto, time is always on our side!

Not always, I get that you're being optimistic and reassuring people that they shouldn't live in the past but plan for the future and own the present although not all the time that you can let go of your Bitcoin and get them back at the same price or a cheaper price. Sometimes as you sell you can't own that quantity of Bitcoin anymore unless you'll be willing to spend more to own that same quantity. Nothing is impossible for Bitcoin but there are some prices that seems impossible for Bitcoin to retrace to that doesn't mean it can't happen. If you sold your Bitcoin, you don't have to wait for that prices to get back into the market as sometimes you can never see those price again. Start a fresh and let go of the decision you made in the past as they were reasons for that decision to be taken.

Quote
It might sting a bit to think about what could have been if you held onto those BTC, but let's not forget the golden rule of crypto: it's a marathon, not a sprint. The market is dynamic, and opportunities are ever-present.

If you sold your BTC in profits you don't have to regret selling, just get back into the market and learn from the previous decision of selling because I won't call that a mistake that you should start regretting What makes you become better at investing is when you can learn from the mistakes you made in the past and better those decisions as you make better ones in the future. If you sold too early, this time don't be in a rush to sell but take your time and only sell if there's no other sources to get the money you need urgently.
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrong perspective towards Bitcoin investment on: January 18, 2024, 09:43:50 PM
From his reply, he said he came across a Bitcoin mining website that was shared via a YouTube video. The mining site mines Bitcoin in small quantities, which he decided to buy some mining power to accumulate faster. He successfully purchased one of the mining power worth $80, but the site eventually shut down a week later without allowing any withdrawals.

This story isn't new and I'm not surprised we still have victims falling for this type of scam. Their targets has to be newbie as those are the set of people that'll fall for this type of scam. The old members should already know about that there's nothing real with cloud mining because they're all scams or operating a big ponzi schemes that uses the money of new members to pay the old members and the cycle repeat in the same manner until the scam get exposed. Mining Bitcoin is now costly that $80 can't give you anything reasonable so why would someone buy $80 worth of mining power and expect to get profits if what he's engaged in isn't ponzi schemes. Your friend was a newbie and that's why he got scammed and this is a lesson for others to avoid quick money schemes.

Quote
I couldn't just leave him hanging with that mentality towards Bitcoin. I showed him some love by converting $10 worth of Bitcoin from my personal funds, sending it to him, and also sent him the BTT link so he can learn from a large Bitcoin community. I have done my part, and I repeat: there is no such thing as getting rich quick. I am glad he has joined the community, but wouldn't want to be mentioned.

Well this doesn't deserved to be announced, when you do good you don't have to blow your own horn. If the praises was coming from the affected users that'll be more reasonable but coming from you, it just seems like a cheap hurt for merit and to blow your own horn. Your thread mightn't have represented any of this things I have said but that's how it looks like. Next time when you do good keep quiet, this part of the thread wasn't necessary. Simply warning people about cloud mining scams would had been great without having to add this part and the large image.

So what is that your lucrative business idea? Let others know to diversify their sources of income.

Since you dey find side hustle, I get some for mine wey I go like share with the board members but I no go encourage any physical side hustle for the time as things dun dey be like say nothing dey work for the country. The economic dey kill businesses to grow and when you dey do things online e go give you more space to do many things and make you more money faster.
