381  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: 2024 will be a good year for BTC hodlers. on: December 06, 2023, 06:42:24 AM
Hope you have prepared well for the bull run that is about to show up in the market next year? Or you don't believe that there will not be bull run 2024?, If what I observed in the market few weeks ago is real, I think bull run that will make people to make big money will surely show up next year 2024.

As we dey talk Bitcoin dun go $43k and December never reach anywhere self, before December finish we fit get that $50k wey you dey think say na next year wey we go get am or e fit also happen for the first quarter of the year 2024. Bitcoin too sweet and the worst thing wey you fit do na to limit the height wey e fit go. As a wise man na to just dey buy Bitcoin dey keep am for your hardware wallet or if you no get plug to buy dat one you fit use electrum wallet for an airgapped device or you use other open source non-custodial wallet dem. 2024 na year wey bitcoin miners reward wey dem dey chop go halve so many things positive go dey happen to the market and dat one go make the year sweet for Bitcoin based on wetin dun happen for other halving years dem.

Quote
Next year will be a good year for me because, I really embraced many opportunities that helped me to buy BTC whenever the price decrease in the market but I know good opportunity will come that will make the price hit above $50k for long hodlers to smile again next year.

I hope you no dey just talk make e be for talking sake, I hope you dey really do wetin you dey talk. One thing I noticed for this forum na say people sabi talk wetin dem no dey do because dem feel say na wetin people wan hear be dat but provided say you dun buy bitcoin then truly the year go soft for you and others wey dun buy Bitcoin. Just because everybody dey say next year go soft for Bitcoin no mean say we go go borrow money to go invest inside bitcoin oh. Remember last halving (2020) year wey corona virus been happen, the year no start well for Bitcoin so if you go borrow money to invest and similar things happen na your head that one dey, just invest money wey no go hard you to hold.

385  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What influences your decisions on: December 03, 2023, 11:43:41 AM
Trading and investment can be a full time job if well managed and properly planned. And this can also be a big life changer if well managed. So for education sake I will like to know how people make their own decision so we all can grow in this volatile market together

Yes trading and investing can be a full time job but it won't be advisable to make that your only source of income especially as a newbie just starting that you don't have the experience yet to have an advantage over the market and also will be needing money regularly. You can make trading your full time job but have other side hustle that'll give you money in times when the market goes against your predictions. No matter how good you dey, some days things no go your way and in those times if you been get other hustle wey dey give you money you no go dey para but when you no get na better wahala be dat.

Some things that influence my decision before I make my investment or decision to trade are;
  • Timeframe: E no mata wetin I wan do if na to run trade or investment, I dey always consider the time wey dey involved for that investment before I sell. If na trading I go also make sure say I know the period of time I go trade before I comot  for the market.
  • Market sentiment: In as much as we no like hype for the market, e get when a particular trend dey wey be say projects wey dey develop for that sector go dey trend and if you trade dem you for make better profits.
  • Capital available: I no dey borrow to trade or invest and I dey only use money wey be say I no go need for a very long time so if I no get that kind money available, e no matter wetin dey happen for market, I go just hold my peace and dey on my line they hustle for the capital until I get am. Invest based on your own strength no go use another person eyes take Invest.
  • Proper research before trading or investing; if you no do your own research na yourself wey you do because na you go surfer am. Alot of distraction full the market so na to filter the bad one out and trade the somehow good ones and na only research go fit run am for you.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a quick rich and get poorer investment. on: December 03, 2023, 09:34:42 AM
Bitcoin is not altcoin that can be hype or where many altcoins are built based on the basic structure provided by Bitcoin, Bitcoin cannot not make you poor when you know what you are doing and is more valuable and can make you rich when you wisely trade in futures.

This topic has been spoken on numerous times and it comes with the same discussion. No genuine investment will be a quick rich investment, if you have such mindset before joining the industry then you have to let go off it or you'll become a victim to scammers regularly as they're many in the industry promising all sort of high return investment when you give them your Bitcoin. We have Bitcoin doublers which are basically scams all over the internet and some other sites that are all fake irrespective of the evidence they display of people getting profits.

Investing in Bitcoin should be with a mindset that you're investing for the future and you'll be selling when Bitcoin has gained more adoption which will mean it has gotten more price appreciation. Forget about all the short term profits that the market can offer and put your timeframe for long term investments. Just keep accumulating Bitcoin because you don't know how much longer the price will stay this low again because more adoption from institutional investors and regular investors are coming to the market.

Bitcoin can't belike altcoins because they're built differently, 99% of the altcoins are centralized irrespective of what they claim to be. BNB, ETH, XRP and the list can go on and on are all centralized and nothing like Bitcoin so investing in those as well are at your risk. I'm not saying you can't make profits from them but you're better off sticking to accumulating Bitcoin.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin story on: December 03, 2023, 09:02:00 AM
I think introducing bitcoin as a story will be better for children to know about Bitcoin and it will be more interesting for them and they would want to get more details about bitcoin as they grow up.

Not a bad idea but why not tell them the real deal, why not teach them about their finance and privacy from the early begining. I'm not talking about when they're still babies but from when they have begin to know their left from their right. Keep the stories for when you're doing story telling and be serious to teach them about Bitcoin when you're teaching them finances. Alot of us weren't taught about finaces from an early age that's why were weren't money oriented until our adulthood which was a bit late.

We shouldn't make the same mistakes to our children. We should make them know liability from assets and teach them how to invest and not saving (which was what a majority of us were just taught). We have to give our children an advantage so their path to succeed becomes more clearer. Bitcoin stories are just stories, when investing in Real estate,, nobody tells you their stories but focus on the most important things one need to know about the industry so the same thing should be done about Bitcoin. Teach your children how to hodl, how to DCA and how to secure their investment with the right wallets that are open source and non custodial.
388  Economy / Economics / Re: Goverments must have good plan very soon on: December 03, 2023, 08:04:41 AM
But governments should have some plan i wait airdrop of money for each people AT least 2000-3000$ without working ubi income

That's a poor mentality there buddy, waiting for handout won't solve your problem. Pick yourself up and tell your friend or others that you know to do the same thing. I know life isn't easy but there are opportunities out there in your country that you can do to make the least to be alive and then you can save some to use to Invest in Bitcoin or other Investment that can give you good returns. If there's no opportunity in your country, learn a universal skills that can be useful in any part of the world or on the internet and look for jobs online that'll pay you for your skills or services. When things go bad for you, you don't have to keep the same mindset that you had before things went had, you have to change and look for other alternatives.

Let say the government gives you the handout that you're asking about, what happens next. What happens when that money is been exhausted, will you be expecting more handwork? And even if the government gives you more don't think they're doing you good, they aren't helping matters because they're making you guys dependant on them so they can control and use you as they want. Governments can't solve every problem and you don't have to wait on the government before you start looking for solution to your problem and that's what differentiate the success ones from the poor ones. Think differently buddy, there's no excuse to be poor again, this is the 21st century.
389  Economy / Economics / Re: The power of investment choices on: December 03, 2023, 07:47:46 AM
It's not enough having an investment plan, knowing the right choice to make for every investment defines the investor better. Take for example jumping on every new coin we find on reputable exchange might not be enough guarantee that coin will do well in the future.

People that do this don't like their money because, the exchanges don't care about their customers, they're here to make money and that's why they can list anything that calls itself a cryptocurency just to make money from the transaction fees they'll be getting from people trading the coin or tokens. Exchanges are listing coins with the highest hype and usually projects with this type of hypes are mostly shitcoins that depends on their popularity to make profits. Don't invest in a project just because it's listed on a tier A exchange or got newly listed. They can always be delisted when they start lacking trading volume as CEX has been doing lately.

Quote
Another option is to spread ones portfolio amongst different coins but ensuring the have a greater percentage in projects with a visible future. It is better to win small and lose less than lose more and win less

This is a wrong advice and newbies reading this thread, don't take this advise seriously or you'll lose as 99% or those that tried same strategy in the past lost. The crypto market is correlated, all cryptocurency depends on the success of Bitcoin to determine their fate, we have two season in the market which is the bear and bull season and coins move in similar direction during this times so diversifying doesn't have much difference. Instead of investing in different altcoins which increase your risk of losing your money, stick to Bitcoin and you can diversify into other assets that's not related to the crypto market. If you're a trader, you can trade those other coins but it should be for short term instead of investing in them.
390  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the importance of identify in your local board? on: December 03, 2023, 07:31:28 AM
Other boards like the economy, general discussion, gambling, altcoin etc is well spelt out and one can easily know why it is necessary to participate and identify in these boards discussions but my question is with regard to the local board.

1. Is it necessary for everyone to identify with their local boards and participate in the board discussions?

Also the local board are spelt out and if you look at the name of the local board you'll know who are meant to discuss there. The local board is for members of that locality and those people who can speak the language without the help of translators or AI. Not everybody is good at speaking english which make their replies uneasy to comprehend so them communicating in their local language most of the time will do us and them more favor as it makes them feel comfortable instead of struggling on the english baord. Also there are some discussion that isn't meant for the general forum but for local members to discuss among each other as they'll have better understanding of the topic than the general board. Those are some usefulness of the local board. It's not necessary for everyone but I encourage everyone to associate with their local board, they can either benefit from there or be of benefit to others on the local board.

Quote
2. I would love to get a detailed aim For each of the local board and also know the kind of thread that's best to be created in the local board.

All types of thread that are allowed on the forum is also allowed on the local board to my best of understanding but also engage with the local baord as some might have other rules and regulations that they have added to govern their board. The rules is always in line with that of the forum and doesn't go against any laws of the forum. The members will determine which type of discussion they want to have and also the subboard available will influence what's been discussed.

Quote
3. If it's necessary to participate in the activity of the local board, what happens to the people whose local board is not in the forum.

It's not mandatory or necessary and if you don't have local board, you can decide to use only the main board or if your local members can come together to request for a board after making your local thread (on the other languages/location section to be very active and pinned).
391  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a correlation between liquidity and volatility? on: December 03, 2023, 07:09:41 AM
However, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are also very volatile compared to other assets or investments. Yes, they are liquid but not necessarily non-volatile. Can I, therefore, conclude that the higher the liquidity of an asset, the higher its volatility?

Quick question, does Bitcoin have more liquidity than the Forex market? I know your answer is No so why then do you think the more liquidity of an asset, the higher the volatility?. When there's more liquidity the market tends to be less volatile that's why the Forex market is less volatile than that of Bitcoin. Volatility comes from a market that can be easily manipulate like the crypto market (in this discussion, Bitcoin market). There are other factors that's making Bitcoin volatile which lack of regulation is one of them and that the assets is still a new one (having less traders as other market).

There are some amount of trade that if they're carried out on exchanges, the exchange won't have the liquidity to handle them and would cause a force maintenance for the exchange. Volatility of Bitcoin comes from the fact that Bitcoin is a free market so irrespective of the liquidity, the market will be volatile for that reasons but as more liquidity and institutional investors comes into the industry, the price would begin to be more stable than it usually is. When there's no liquidity that's why an asset can be manipulated and it becomes more volatile so don't think high liquidity equals to more volatility, it's the other way around.
392  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New here and wants to make some money on: December 02, 2023, 10:10:19 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm totally new and I don't have a steady source of income so I'm looking for some help, nice to meet you all 😊

The forum isn't a charity organizations so when you say help, if it's donations that you're seeking for you won't find one as begging is against the forum rules but if you're seeking for help like getting a job, the best the forum can do is provide you with an opportunity to join a signature campaign. To become eligible for a signature campaign, you need to reach certain ranks on the forum but since you're just a newbie you still have a long way to go. You can try building you account and if a manager finds your posting worth hiring you'll be hired when you apply for a signature campaign.

You can offer a service through the skills you have and get customers on the forum, this is the most recommended way to get a job because your rank doesn't matter provided your resume from past works can do the talking. If you don't have a skill to sell then you can learn some online related ones and it won't take you a long time to complete. You can also sell your physical skills on the forum by hosting your announcement thread on the forum and get customers. As a newbie if you're not selling your skills then you need to learn first before you start thinking about making money on the forum.

As for the skills, if you're looking for what to learn you can try graphic designing, Bbcode designs, community management and customer service management. You can learn skills associated with blockchain, cryptocurency or not but can be implemented with crypto projects as those are the employers you'll find on the forum.
393  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make We no Dey Use Centralized Exchange to Receive Campaign Payment Directly. on: December 02, 2023, 06:58:14 PM
So nai make I say make I come tell my country people say let dem no use Centralized Exchanges to receive pay because di exchange itself can freeze your account if there is a small mistake. And in this days Binance set dey hot. And dem dey on hot seat so small things na KYC na dem dey ask. But if you use non custodial wallet to receive your pay nobody go question you. Use Electrum to receive pay and send to Binance to sell and not to keep. To avoid wahala na be the best approach to settle cases. Be careful out there. Like this Binance don send messages to all this people wey received BTC from the Sinbad escrow address to do KYC and more information. Dis one na for your own good.

Shey we dey sing am here everyday say exchange should only be used as exchange and nothing else but people no dey gree hear, this one wey Bitcoin fee been come high e come make many people come dey use exchange address to receive payment but now dem dun see am say it wasn't a wise decision. Wetin dey there to receive your Bitcoin for your non custodial wallet then you can do with the Bitcoin received anything wey you want. Those affected should take this as warning to not trust exchanges especially centralized ones or any centralized Bitcoin service providers as anytime wey problem come dey go find way to throw you under the bus. And those wey no dey affected should also learn form this. Also avoid centralized wallet providers and only use non custodial wallets.

We Nigerians aren't decentralized enough, we need to learn how to dey use more of decentralized services for this industry because we self no dey better country wey be say the government fit just wake up one dey wan ban every account that has a connection with Bitcoin through any centralized service wey dem fit get access to, to collect data wey dem go use work. E get time wey government been dey target cryptocurency traders so dem fit do am again. Make we dey dey careful and take our security very serious oh because if we no do am na we go dey regret later. Know wetin you dey promote before you start dey join campaign. Government no like mixers so dem go always get problem with dem, so no do transaction directly with any exchange from mixers and some other sites them. E make sense to send the coins to your non custodial wallet first before you fit move am to exchange for trading.
394  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: HOW DOSE BITCOIN MAKES MONEY? on: December 02, 2023, 06:29:30 PM
HOW DOES BITCOIN MAKE MONEY?

in my own little opinion Bitcoin makes it money through mining process, its data of transactions and rewards computer operators.

Your little opinion dey wrong, Bitcoin na money himself so Bitcoin no need to make money. Your question just dey like how Naira dey make money, e make sense to you like dat? Wetin you go talk na how people dey make money with Bitcoin and na when different strategies go come on boards like;
  • People make money from Bitcoin through investing
  • People make money from Bitcoin through mining
  • People make money from Bitcoin through trading
  • People make money from Bitcoin through offering a service relating to Bitcoin.
  • People make money from Bitcoin through lending and other ways wey you fit make money from any currency, assets and so on

You fit devlope your own means of making money from Bitcoin, some people dey wey dey work and get paid in Bitcoin. People dey wey dey combine the plenty ways of making money from Bitcoin, basically Bitcoin go give you money anyway wey naira or any other currency fit make you make money too. Bitcoin na a tools to use make money and the best way to make am na by buying and hodling as e better pass others means but if you be person wey dey very creative, you fit invent your own means and they get your choppings.
395  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Be careful during the halving season on: December 02, 2023, 06:14:35 PM
The things way i won talk be say, as the bull dey front dey come, e go good if those way done invest for Bitcoin earlier this year and way back dey careful this season and the whole of the next year and after, because I really believe say plenty of scammers go dey more active to dey find those way them go scam (more especially Bitcoiners).

Bull market mean say alot of money will be flowing into the market and this money dey involve old money (from investors wey already dey into the industry) and new money (from new investors). The new investor's dey come in their number wey be say dem dey plenty die and lack proper knowledge of how the market be so this na why scammers dey chop dem scatter. Scammers know say newbies dem go plenty so dem dey target dem with mouth watering offers and many dey fall victims. You wey be investor, na you suppose secure your investment and you no supposed believe everything wey you see for online unless you go fall mugu to scammers.

Different scams plenty during the bull market but e get one wey people no dey too reason because dem believe say everything wey dem invest inside you do well (most times e dey go that way but e no dey last). We need dey careful wetin we dey Invest inside because plenty altcoins go come out during this time. Many of dem no go fit survive after the bull market as the project founders only created the tokens for the bull market and after the market finish dem no get any plans for the bear market and the project go die so if you still dey invested inside them na you go lose am. During the bull market, ponzi scheme go plenty too and Bitcoin doublers go begin dey plenty but as a wise investor, we need dey avoid all this sites them and just dey hold the coins wey we dun buy for the bull market.

For Nigeria here, we go begin here all sorts of defi platforms dem wey go dey promise all sorts of benefits, we need avoid them and not give out control over your coins to any platform wey go promised say dem go Invest for you or trade for you and dem go dey give you returns. This na some ways wey scammers dey steal people money during this bull market period.
396  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Preparing and protecting bitcoin future holders on: December 02, 2023, 05:54:46 PM
We know that everything has it time and that we can't continue to become relevant in this field forever and will have to eventually leave it someday in the hands of the younger ones who will continue the advocacy and push for bitcoin adoption in our country and also Considering the fact that it is not all that feasible to hosting sensitization programmes in schools and public places  that could help in educating the younger ones about the functionality of bitcoin and the necessity of it adoption in our country, I'm concerned regarding the fate of future bitcoiner in our country and and what we can do to educate the younger ones on the benefit this has to play in the ease of global and local transaction in  the country.

Me I no just believe in forcing Bitcoin adoption on anybody and I believe say by the time our children dun come of age, Bitcoin acceptance for the country go dun reach e peak. If by the time our children become adult and we still dey push for Bitcoin adopting for the country e mean say we never really achieve anything na because that one go be like 18+ years time assuming we born today. If in 18 year we still dey do wetin we dey do today then government dun already rule out the possibility of accepting Bitcoin be dat so make we just leave that talk and dey invest for the purposes of profits gaining and wealth security even though the utility no possible for the country.

As we get wealth for Bitcoin, we go need pass am from our generation to that of our children and in that process we go teach them things dem go need know on how to secure the Bitcoin well and do other needful things them for the industry so that way we dey preserved the adoption of the currency. Bitcoin go take care of himself so make we no go dey stress ourselves much. Just as you carry sabi about Bitcoin na so other future generations go sabi about am too. We get people wey go pick interest for teaching about Bitcoin and just like the current educators wey we get so for like dem YouTube and other social media them wey dem dey monetize their channels to you educated people, na so the same hustle go continue and the gospel will continue been spread about Bitcoin.
397  Economy / Economics / Re: Inventing a job is better than finding a job on: December 02, 2023, 12:42:57 AM
So which one should it be? Do you take the risk and invent a job or do you want to keep running the race knowing the possibility of winning is very low and you may never reach the finish line?

Always, working for yourself (inventing a job) is better than working for someone else (looking for a job). If you can pass through the stages of developing a job that you can call your own then you're closer to making that business a success. Been self employed isn't easy but after successfully launching your business and making it to stand, you'll see the benefits of owning a business because you're your own boss and nobody get to tell you when you get to come to work or close from what.

You get the chance to pay yourself and give yourself vacation break that you deserve for your hardwork. Basically you get to treat others the way you wanted your boss to treat you, that's why being your own boss is important than working for someone else. Inventing a job isn't something everybody can do so I don't blame people relying on working for others. Even after you invent your own job, you'll still need workers at some point of the company's lifespan especially after making it into a big brand, you'll need employees and that's why those that can't invent their own jobs comes in handy.

Both inventing and looking for jobs works hand in hand, they both are needed for the society to function but if you can develop yourself into been a business owner, it'll be more beneficial to you then living your whole life working for others. It doesn't matter how small the business is, start it today and you'll be surprised how far it'll go in the future. Most businesses started as a small enterprise but later became a multi million dollars company.

Often times I keep wondering how signature campaigns sponsors get their funds considering the huge amount of money they pay campaign members of their various Signatures and Avatars because some of the Signature Sponsors Refills their Escrow Funds on a weekly or monthly basis.

I want to know how advertising their Avatars and Signatures provides funds for the sponsors or is it that they just actually want their Signatures or their Avatars to be advertised to the public?

Just know if campaigns weren't making profits or gaining from their advertisment on the forum they won't be refilling their escrow wallets and keeping their campaign going for many weeks. The projects gains from their advertisment on the forum directly from forum members picking interest in their platforms from the campaigns that's ongoing on the forum and from other benefits like the number of traffic or unique site visitors that they get from the forum. Basically if the projects weren't receiving value for their promotions that they were carrying out on the forum they would have ended it a long time ago

Projects are advertising on the forum for various reasons, some just need the traffic the forum offers when their links are been click on and it helps place them at higher position on google website rankings which introduced them to potential clients when they search for services that they render while some need the reputation that the forum offers like for mixers that the forum has being playing a major role in making them very popular among the forum members and cryptocurency community at large.

Signature Campaign sponsor make their money from the popularity that the platforms gives them and all this happens because of their signature campaign. Some happens immediately while others take longer therefore some projects might be using money from their pocket without making any profits but with time and as the project gains more community acceptances, they'll likely make back all the money they have sent in publicity and also make other profits.

Hi everyone.
We can all agree that the starting of this year 2023 has been extremely good for Bitcoin and a few other Cryptocurrencies unlike last year 2022 that Bitcoin had an epileptic run and was literally struggling, making lots of people think twice about still choosing Bitcoin as their choice of investment.

Last year, we were in a bear market so everything that happened was expected of the market to happen. Bitcoin decrease in price after the bull market has ended that we saw in 2021. Usually the next year after the bear market isn't always that bad because the market would be in a recovery phrase and most of the panic sellers would have already sold and left the market in the bear market year which was 2022. I expected this year to be better than last and so will other years to come until after Bitcoin halving and we get the main bull market that we'll see Bitcoin getting to a new ATH and also setting a new price milestone. Those that had second thoughts were probably newbies as those with experience would had been accumulating Bitcoin because they know the story will be different in the bull market.

So please I'd really need your contributions and ideas on what you feel or think would be the outcome of Bitcoin the remaining weeks of this year and most importantly, what would the new year have installed for Bitcoin?

One thing I can tell you is, Bitcoin block reward will be halving next year and that'll brings alot of positivity to the price of Bitcoin. Next year will also be more better than this year as alot of fomo will be coming to the market because of Bitcoin halving. Just to summarize, it'll say better days are ahead for Bitcoin. We have gone through the toughest days already (the bear market) and starting next year the market will be shifting from bear to bull. Alot of positive development will be coming that'll make investing in Bitcoin gain more attraction again.

Theymos, I understand this decision had to be taken to save the forum from alot of accusations in aiding fraudulent activity in the future but what next are we going to ban? Will crypto non KYC casinos be next as they too can be used for mixing. The government are winning and there's nothing we can do about it. It's sad that one of the most rewarding service on the forum that pays their participants a decent amount of money is going away. I guess we'll return to the casinos taking over the forum. Mixers were associated with Bitcoin and it was nice seeing them around as it remembered us of privacy. I didn't use a mixer until I say an advert of one on the forum and currently promoting one because of their usefulness. It's just sad that we're killing privacy everyday.

Will it come to a time of KYC-mixers?

It sounds weird now but maybe in future, it will happen and with KYC, mixers will be allowed by laws. The point is to avoid criminals to use mixers, not good people who want privacy to use mixers.

Where's the privacy going to be when you have already submitted your kyc that can be access by hackers or the government whenever they want to. The point is the government wants to monitor everything so services that makes it difficult for them to know what is going on is a threat to them and they're try to eliminate them on time and not give them similar doubts they did to Bitcoin and see where Bitcoin is today (impossible to kill). I also see things heading the way of kyc-mixes as the government is okay with privacy that's under their supervision.
