GLUON Token Sale Rescheduled to May 2018 due to recent developments at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

https://www.gluon.com/gluon-token-sale-rescheduled/

This is unfortunate, but understandable considering the whole SEC situation.

Hopefully when they launch in May the markets will be at a much better point, which in turn will help Stratis out too.

Any word about other ICO's wanting to launch on Stratis yet?
Don't count on a May launch just because the announcement said so. If their concern is the SEC situation, no one can really put a timeline on things, and what the guidance or precedent may be.
262  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach 20,000 again on: March 19, 2018, 11:09:07 PM
I just saw it go to 6k and then back to 10k, so 30% rise in a month. Is that bad? Does that mean the whales will sell at every raise and won't let people profit? No, it doesn't work like that. You're allowing your emotion to drive you and you're adding to your negativity by writing those sob stories about newbies panicking and crashing the market or whales not allowing the price to rebound. We had a huge amount of Gox coins being sold in a short period of time and the market had no time to digest and redistribute this. It will regulate itself in time.
30% within a month , we can imagine if the situation run continuously what would we get in the next 3 or 4 months? Back to $20,000! We all know it's frequently happened in crypto where the price movement are so quick , up and down yeah. About the big money from mt Gox spent and sold at the market causing this stuck , I would agree , it's crazy really to sell your 300,000 Bitcoin in hurry . 20,000$ seems still realistic to reach but yeah of course not now.
We've seen prolonged bear markets in the past. This really isn't new. Give it time - Bitcoin will do fine. The tech is more exciting than ever, and applications increasing as well. Lightning is definitely a welcome addition as well. We'll see what it all adds up to in 2020!

How it changes the money after all ICNs have been burned up? Maybe they are going to pay dividends towards the token holders
Lol all ICNs will never be burned up. The rate of burn is extremely low at the moment and hardly affects anything. Most of the revenue goes to the Iconomi team instead of the ICN holders.

A lot of important events upcoming in March and April. Very good investment opportunity.

We were saying the same for January, look what happened lol
Stratis grew up a little in January Smiley The project has a lot of releases in the future. Perhaps releases and news will appear during the growth of the market.
Instead of new releases, perhaps we should focus on old releases? What's the status of the masternode and Bitcoin tumblebit release?
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 19, 2018, 05:57:31 PM
NEM has had a significant tumble because the hack, within light from the broader endure market. A few see how this affects the cost.
These events are beyond our control. Over a longer period of time, let's see how this impacts the project.

What is Recommend for Merit?
Recommend for Merit would be a button available on each post. You can recommend your own post or any other high quality post that you think hasn't received any Merit but deserves it.
This can cause spam on creating many accounts to recommend their own shits.

What Does it Do?
There would be a way for all the Merit Sources to see, in a single view, all the posts that have been 'Recommended for Merit'. If they think a post deserves Merit, they can give merit to that thread and that removes the post from the list of awaiting posts. Perhaps they also have the ability to remove low quality posts from this list (or only Mods).
Too much work form them if they can handle this situation I think from the start they will not introduce sMerit system if they can handle to give merits to all high quality contents.

so , do i need more merit to rank up to Sr.membre ?
Really? on your full member rank you are still ignorant about this? you dont deserve that rank.

I've addressed the spam issue already if you read the whole post. I don't think it's a problem, plus there are always subjective punishments for spamming. Besides, if your posts don't get Merit anyway, doesn't matter how much you try to spam in the recommendation, they still won't get any.

Clicking on a button to recommend for merit is not too much work.
267  Other / Meta / Re: Yet Another Merit Thread (YAMT) But Hear Me Out on: March 18, 2018, 03:13:34 AM
I am tired of so many complaints about Merit/sMerit. It is most certainly a step in the right direction towards improving the quality of discourse on this forum. That being said, a very small minority of complaints about Merit/sMerit may be of value.

One of the things people complain a lot about is that there are not enough Merits to go around, especially in some local/niche threads. The number of Merit sources have been increased, and this should partially help the situation. However, there needs to be a way to shut the complainers up once and for all. Therefore, I propose the following - Recommend for Merit.

What is Recommend for Merit?
Recommend for Merit would be a button available on each post. You can recommend your own post or any other high quality post that you think hasn't received any Merit but deserves it.

What About Abuse?
This would be the biggest problem. So perhaps you can limit the number of posts that can be recommended for Merit based on the user rank or some other criterion.

What About Rewards?
Similar to reporting spam, if a user repeatedly identifies undervalued posts for Merit and the posts are subsequently Merited, they can optionally be rewarded by the Mods/Merit Sources.

What About Punishments?
There may be a staked game where users stake their own Merit to recommend their posts. But perhaps the most effective way would be that if some users abuse this system, they get awarded negative merit.

Idea in Progress. Feedback Welcome

theymos had to think about it a long time ago .. to have implemented this system only now .. in my opinion it only generates confusion and discontent

There's nothing like perfect implementation. There was a problem, he offered a solution. It may not be perfect but it sort of works fine. As a community, we can make it better, hence the proposal.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 18, 2018, 03:12:10 AM
Well at least XEM is leading on something.  Out of the Top100 coins they are the furthest down today - 22%!
Get used to it, and welcome to the club Smiley
269  Other / Meta / Re: Yet Another Merit Thread (YAMT) But Hear Me Out on: March 16, 2018, 05:57:43 PM
I'm a source, currently I have no idea to post a new task for people to earn merits as the reward for completing them. I see and read many posts, if I'd merit a post close to my opinion, I would be a biased merit source. I actually would like to voluntarily spend time and have people PMing me to merit them. or have a place to go and check some of the highlighted posts. whatever it could be. just nothing extra work for theymos and other staff. I wouldn't mind helping.

TL;DR: A pointless, overcomplicated system that will be overly abused and not put to good use (my opinion, anyway)

Mods are swamped enough - they don't need additional work. I'm guessing not many merit sources would use it either, as it would be abused by people who recommend their own posts, or use an alt to do it, and with the size of the forum, it would be flooded. I am a merit source, and I know for sure that I wouldn't use it, so I assume that most others would not as well. (though it might be because I'm a small source and seem to use merit faster than I regain at the moment. Many other merit sources don't seem to be using up all their merits)

Whenever I send merits, next day I would get more. theymos doesn't want us to have all the merits at once, or it could be a bug.

The idea is to have an easier time filtering content, and also be able to access content from multiple threads. For example, perhaps you don't frequent the economics section much, but if someone pointed out a few threads for you to check out for quality/merit, you would do that since it is easier than wading through a million posts.
270  Other / Meta / Re: Yet Another Merit Thread (YAMT) But Hear Me Out on: March 16, 2018, 01:51:33 AM
Within the current system, a similar approach would be to show a list of the posts you would like to recommend for merit in the personal text area, see the left of this post, which I proposed here.  It helps merit sources to review quality posts and automatically resolves the issue in the OP as there is a limitation of the number of posts you could list, though currently there is no way to list recommendations of all users in a single view.
The problem is, you can only do that for your own threads in your proposal. That generally doesn't solve much. If you're a newbie, no one is going through your list of posts or your recommendations anyway. A universal view is the only legitimate way to go about it, and the recommendations need to be made by others, not you.

If you're short on sMerit but find a good post, you can just recommend it. The workflow is much smoother.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not sell your crypto! on: March 16, 2018, 12:35:16 AM
I keep holding my coins in my wallet for the last three months and wait for a good price to sell my coins and I hope that's not long
It may very well be long, like several years long. If that's too long for you, you should sell and get out of the market now. It can definitely go lower from here on.
272  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING TD AMERITRADE ACCOUNT WITH 6200$ IN IT ( please read ) on: March 16, 2018, 12:33:46 AM
Okay, so theres a family emergency that is going to cost me way more than I have. In fact, I am fucking broke. Called TD today and tried to cash everything out, even though it says its cash available for withdrawl, they actually wont cut me a check until tuesday. I HAVE to have the cash before tomorrow. So, I am selling it for 4750.  You can actually just hang on to the account if you want until I pay you back, or keep it. You can seriously cash it out Tuesday. It's basically liek letting me hold the money so you can go make 1k.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!

Brokerage accounts are not bearer assets. You cannot 'sell' your account to someone else, since you can just call them up anytime and close the account, and the 'buyer' would be left with nothing. It would also be fraud on the 'buyer's part to make decisions on the account that has your name on it. Try harder.
273  Other / Meta / Re: Yet Another Merit Thread (YAMT) But Hear Me Out on: March 16, 2018, 12:31:24 AM
I like the idea, this way people will be able to help a post gain merit, even if they don't have any sMerit themselves. Perhaps multiple people could recommend a post for meriting, and a counter would be increased on the side to represent the number of recommendations a post has. I also think that posts in the meta section should not be meritable, as probably over 75% of all merits have been given in the meta section, a section that was previously dead before the introduction of merit. I really don't think people should be merited for talking about merit.

Agreed. Here are some points from your reply -
  • Multiple votes for a given post is definitely a good idea. Just need to prevent abuse. Maybe some sort of a tiered system or weighted voting based on rank?
  • Posts in the meta section can be excluded. I mean, that's an implementation detail. I think good posts should be merited even if they talk about Merit.
The goal is to make the forum better, I see no reason why. But the important point is, it is doesn't matter. If Theymos decides to exclude this section, that's totally fine by me. Doesn't change anything really.

276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to create your own token on: March 15, 2018, 11:14:43 PM
yeah i just want to know if i can create my own token (NOT erc20)
also since you insist on erc20
can i use erc20 token for ICO
and later for my own blockchain platform?

Why don't you first go and do some very very basic research and come back with better questions, and we'll be more than happy to answer any specific questions that you might have.

From what you've posted, it seems like you have absolutely no idea whatsoever regarding what it is that you want to do or why.

Is it possible to use the Iconomi coins to invest in DAA rather than ethereum or bitcoins
Not yet. ICN has too little liquidity compared to the DAAs so it would move the market big time trying to get in and out of ICN, thus the use of BTC and ETH that have a higher monetary base.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: TaaS — Tokenized Closed-End Fund on: March 15, 2018, 10:59:50 PM
last payout from TAAS token was?
Do i only need to hold the taas token in my eth adress? Or is something else to do?
thx for info.

The second payout was more than a dollar per taas and you need to keep the taas on a popular wallet to receive the dividend.I would say go for myetherwallet which is best and reliable.

This was 3rd payout now are into 4th quarter I hope this will be also profitable. I prefer to keep them store into Trezor if someone has goal to hodl this for long term but Myetherwallet not a bad choice if we use this carefully because it demand more responsibility to be aware of phishing sites.

and the date for the 3rd payout was?

Thx for the trezor advise. I thinking about to invest in taas, so there is now no need for a trezor for me Wink

Now TAAS will make payout for 4th quarter and the team will announce about the snapshot date. We will get rewarded only to keep hold this token and just wait for further updates while you can read about previous report.
https://medium.com/@Taas/token-as-a-service-quarterly-report-3c11e89eff01

waiting to drop to 4.6 in order to buy and sell again to 8-10. three such tactics worked, I hope to repeat 4 times going to work before the payments of dividends.
At least someone is making profit off trading TaaS lol, I guess trading profit is much more than dividends.

You can lose your principal in trading. You cannot lose your principal in collecting dividends.
it is better to double in trade than to get 10-20% in dividends. Yes, there is a risk in trading, but in a cyclical product as a token with dividends, it is easier to work on a cycle than with a product that lives only with a market price and depends only on news about the company and has a non-cyclic price. price 4.7 nearby 4.6
If you don't understand the difference between getting money from dividends and getting money from investments, I suggest you first start investing in some stocks or read some high school finance books, which might help you understand this better.

Also, if you think you can consistently make money trading, I have a bridge to sell you

Let's hope that the dev team will deliver according to the new roadmap. $500 at the end of the year would be very nice, but it the current market (who knows what will come this year) I'm already happy with $50.

Lol I really like Stratis but hoping that it goes to 50 billion USD market cap till the end of the year is just utopian.
What do you mean it's utopian? Do you mean it's a dream?
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: March 14, 2018, 06:35:03 PM
Why so much focus on the price in the videos? Even the introductory video spends a lot of time talking about 'if you invested 1 Bitcoin, you would now have ... ' type of material. I'd rather see the intro video to be professional that talks about the benefits. What I would like to see -
  • How are Sidechains 'better' than other solutions.
  • Why should enterprises choose Stratis over say Private Ethereum
  • How does Stratis differ from other smart contract platforms
  • What are the strengths of Stratis
  • Some examples of how Stratis can be used for businesses

Why are you discussing price in the introductory video?

What I have noticed is that to attract people of all corners, the presentation has to have a strong focus on price. Human nature as it seems . Look at most of China's blockchain apps , NEO, Qtum, Omisego ... they all have decent price yet not as solid as Stratis. But as a noob , they tend to look at the price first.

That's an excuse that doesn't understand the cons of doing so, and even the pros you listed are sketchy at best.

Do you ever see an Apple ad that talks about how much the price of its stock has increased? Exactly.
