262  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [15000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: January 23, 2015, 10:57:20 PM
Excellent work.
Thanks again for the open communications.

Now that the forums are back:  There were 2 sets of rolling restarts earlier today, with each pool server going down for about 5 seconds, though there were always 6-7 pool servers still online to failover to during the restarts.  Most users probably didn't notice the restarts, and the pool's stats before and after restarts seems to confirm that most miners these days will no longer stop functioning properly/failover permanently like they had a tendency to do in the past.

These restarts updated 3 things on each mining server:
1) Updated bitcoind [BTC Guild was a few updates behind, prefering caution to fast upgrades after what happened with 0.8].
2) Updated bitcoind settings to 900,000 byte max blocksize.  BTC Guild previously had this value set at 500KB.
3) Updated to a faster version of Matt Corallo's Relay Network on all servers (some were still using a python version).

Thank you for the update!!!
I will try the newest cgminer right now.
Nice work on the new miners. :-)

hmm.... seems not many people know our wiki page:
  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon

Here is for nano:
  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon_nano#Cgminer_for_Avalon_nano

The cgminer support Avalon nano out of box after 4.7.0:

I just wish we could get it compiled into BFGMiner or cgminer standalone.  I keep messing with them and no luck.  I worked CLI to fine tune settings and they still dive off a cliff for some reason.  Start out well and then just stop.
They are fun I like the way they throttle based on temps and such in a more active way than previous USB miners.
Been interesting for sure.
You would not happen to have cg or bfg standalone would you?

Does this version get rid of the weird BTCTelecom ads in the software?

Does anyone know how to make it work? User guide is unavailable (following the link on ehash.com), Avalon nano software for Windows is in Chinese and even if I install it I can't find a GUI...

p.s. it's not for me, one newbie asked for help to make it mine...  Roll Eyes

I'll get it fixed. Tldr is http://downloads.canaan-creative.com/software/avalon_nano/software/latest/AvalonInstaller.zip though.

I have no idea, I've never seen that in the first place.

269  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 02, 2015, 05:29:16 AM
Thanks, Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
I am still getting it all down but I am always trying to do better as well and learn from it all. :-)
I just got off Skype with someone that is going to get some miners for me to review we have not seen before. I am very excited about bringing that to you all.  Going to be interesting this year with all the advances in the tech.  Add in all the cool things people are about to unleash with things to do with the blockchain it is exciting.

I am already in touch with an expert about the security breach to follow up on the article.
I also am going to speaking to community members who are not happy with GAW.  I do not take money for my articles no need to raise funds.
Things will be covered.

Thanks and hope to see it soon. I look forward to reading your reviews on new miners that will be out soon, you are on point with equipment.
I hope you get well soon.
Happy new year to you and your family. Smiley
270  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 02, 2015, 04:09:43 AM
Noted and I will keep trying to do better.

Red flags and broken promises are going to be addressed.  I have not ignored that.  I have reported bad news such as the breach.

Again the Title is "GAW Claims" not me not the site the claim is on them and I wanted that clear.  If you choose to read it as me absolving them of the issue that is fine but that is not the intention.

I do not work for GAW and have not.  If I could work I would be back to running networks and mining bitcoin.

I read the article you published about the data breach and thought it was a PR job when I read it the first time. Your claim here is that no one spoke to GAW and you wanted to get their side of the story. So, I went back and just read your questions without GAW's responses. In my opinion, your questions are very leading and it seems you are spinning the story a certain way. Especially when you editorialize with comments like "So while there was a glitch it was not a massive data leak or a breach. GAWMiners responded quickly to the error and cleared up the issue" what you are doing is releasing a PR piece for GAW. That's fine but call it what it is. If the goal was to get GAW's side of the story, just let them say their piece without your own comments. For the record, when you can see customer PII such as personal email addresses and account balances, even if it's a static picture, it's a data breach.

If you really wanted to find out what happened, perhaps you could have talked to CloudFlare to find out how things like this happen. I'm going to guess it's improper programming. Especially when a coding change by GAW seems to fix the issue. However, I'm not positive because I haven't spoken to CloudFlare to get their side or reviewed any of their best practices material (if they have it).

As an aside, the GAW response to this issue reminds me of a software engineer I had on a project once who asked me to open a trouble ticket with Sun. There was obviously a bug in their CPU since his code didn't work. I told him to check his java libs and dependencies but he insisted that the error was with Sun's CPU and he had even isolated the problem. I didn't open the ticket. He finally figured out there was a lib mismatch.

Our recent PayCoin report.
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/paycoin-price-plunges-ring-new-year/
The info in your image will be in a future article.

This made me chuckle given the current topic of conversation (nothing personal Scott): https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/josh-garza-to-launch-paycoin-media-tour/

"GAWMiner’s ICO is going huge and public in a big way. With interviews with CNN, Fortune Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and others soon to hit the airwaves Josh is getting the news out about Bitcoin and Paycoin while working for greater acceptance of Cryptocurrencies. If GAWMiners is a scam, the worst thing you could do is draw the type of attention they are now getting. We are looking forward to the next stage in the ICO and CCN will bring you the news and info as we get it directly from the source, Josh Garza the CEO of GAWMiners."

I am actively researching more about the red flags, more about the issue that caused the breach on PayBase and will have a follow up.
I dare you to post this on your website. Or do you ignore picture evidence as well? I'm sure we have some archived proof that you can look into, but I think we both know that won't really make a difference, will it? You only make articles based on lies when it comes to GAW.

272  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 02, 2015, 04:04:48 AM
I am working on that and will have something before too long.

I do not have the power to ban anyone on CCN I am not an admin if someone is banned that is not me.

The funds that were given was done by CryptoCause who is not part of GAW and Josh does not give me money.
I am actively researching more about the red flags, more about the issue that caused the breach on PayBase and will have a follow up.

I have seen people go off like anyone reporting on GAW that is not totally negative means they are paid.  Right from coindesk, coinbrief, techcrunch WSJ to others it makes no sense that people will say we are all paid off because we reported on what they were doing.  None of us are being paid off.

There were no calls that BitFury owns me when I interview them or Spondoolies although I got hate for that when they first announced because people called them a scam.  No one said that because I wrote about ASICMiners I am not somehow FriedCats shill.
GAW does not own the news sites. I do not get paid by them and they are not perfect we will cover it.

Their Hashlets were their cloud mining system.  Genesis has theirs, Zeus and others theirs.  LTCGear as well.  That is the way they all market their products for better or worse.  We are seeing some of them get shaken out now.  We will see what happens with GAW it could be good and it could be bad.

I do not censor comments anywhere I do not have the power nor would I use it.
I will ignore abusive comments leveled at me though and I have.

Red flags and broken promises are going to be addressed.  I have not ignored that.  I have reported bad news such as the breach.

So news sites should not cover a companies release of a product because some people do not like them?

Reporting on a product people don't like = Perfectly fine
Reporting none of the red flags/broken promises/bad news = bad
Censoring any negative comments = bad

I will also say that the title is GAW Claims not me claiming it.
I have no once said it is not a big deal peoples email addresses and balances were seen.  It was and is a bad thing.

Do you work for GAW or are you a journalist?

I think you've basically admitted private data was lost, so why not do the honest thing and fix the title?

Scott are you fucking kidding us all.

I've seen you countlessly ban people from Crypto Coins News that say accurate things about GAWMiners for example how much they scream Ponzi Scam.

Then you also do everything in your power to take money for your Surgery from Josh Garza when the money he's giving you is the complete definition of Fraudulent money.

He made it out like Hashlets were worth something. That Hashlets were miners.

They never were.

They were never worth anything the entire concept is just his fucked up imagination making people believe things that are the complete opposite of what the Cryptocurrency Community as a whole's values are.
you should post a news article covering the concerns of the other side of the fence to keep it impartial. people tend to think ccn has no credibility on GAW being a scam as their paid banners cover the ccn sites. news should be about impartial sides else credibility fails. once credibility is gone viewers drop and advertising goes down.

I just report stuff as I see it.
Coinfire should contact GAW directly as well there is usually someone who will talk with a reporter asking questions.
If I had not covered the breach you would complain I ignored it.
Does not matter either way we just did a report on the falling XPY price today as well.  It is all news and needs to be reported the good and the bad.

No you saw the discussion here and the detailed ramifications. Coinfire was on it and you responded with their excuse for it there after.

I contacted Joe directly when I saw the issue.  I was not able to alter anything in the screen I saw.  A little while later it was all working as it was supposed too.  I had even said that it was bad emails and such were seen but nothing was altered.  Coinbase and some others have had issues similar to this in the past as well.
It was a bad issue for GAW that is why I asked about it and published what their statement was as well as what happened.
It was not a good news article.

I am not paid by GAW nor have..I been.

...
deletia
....

How did you manage to get such an immediate [inaccurate] response from Gaw Miners about their flaw yesterday? What was it like within an hour of Coinfire? Why did you not bother fact checking their response?

1. the pages most certainly were not 'static' you could fire off an SMS to the registered no.
2. nothing lost nothing changeable, as was explained here as well as by coinfire, the damage is quite larger than that. a mere threatening email to the registered account holder suggesting revealing his balance in 'anonymous' cryptocurrency can yield wonders to those inclined.

You fired off their reply in an instance.

Why is that?

Why not post links to this thread or other threads like many "NEWS" sites have done? Or the questions that have been asked.
How about an interview with someone like our fearless leader suchmoon? Tongue I am sure many of us would get together and make some funds available to pay you for your time.
I also think you know the truth about the 8+ hours it took for gaw to fix the "cloud" problem that exposed peoples emails and how much coins they had in their accounts. You stated only emails were exposed... Do you not call this a breach?
And volder keep your 20-25 btc on the buy order (its been bouncing around like a dirty whore for days, the 20+ btc), I want to see it get eaten up, stop playing chicken Tongue
The 13 btc sell owned it.

I did not ask for donations the community did that on its own.  I vented on the forum after multiple surgeries.  The community instead of attacking me responded with that.
I am also paying it forward by donating it on to others in need.

He pimped his crippledness to get donations.

Real cripples don't cry foul. They don't woe be me. Fund my life.

In is in the archives if you have me on ignore.

Well I am not crippled or anything, but it just seems so harsh to say that sort of stuff. Anyone who bought into this well..how can you be surprised?

You continue to turn a blind eye to real journalism of the corrupt and persuade people to join in the falling knife that is GAWminers. You actually said yourself it was a private data breach and now you just back peddle. Your justice will follow if it hasn't already. Karma does not encourage such actions and you'll pay the price when it's time. The price seems very high at this point.

I have never put anyone on ignore until now.
I report about a breach and ask the company involved what happened as no other site bothered.
Fine if they want to spew hate that is fine.  I'm done responding to it and reading it.  I never personally attacked anyone or made fun of their situation.  I don't wish on anyone what I deal with each day not even him.  But I am done responding.
There is no need for that.  That is why people who are on the outside think Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies are not serious and the playground of people they don't want to deal with.  Too many people cannot debate or disagree without resorting to something like that.  It is not just about GAW stuff either there is just so much hate between different groups and philosophies in here instead of discussion and learning.

"No private data lost" is a blatant lie.  Data that was previously not public, was made public. That is the very definition of losing private data.

You claim to publish the good and the bad but in reality you never publish the bad, you censor any slightly negative comments, and publish nothing but GAW press releases/advertisements.
279  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 02, 2015, 02:19:57 AM
I said it was several times I also said that there were no coins stolen and contents of accounts could not be altered.  Simple.
This was a breach I reported on it and got the companies account of what happened as no one else bothered to ask them.
This was bad I have said that.
There is nothing else it is the same as other sites that have had similar issues.  It is a breach from a glitch.

There was no theft and people only had access to static data.

So private data isn't private when it is "static"? Sorry, but you are sounding like someone trying to weasel out of a fight they already lost. You said "no [...] private data lost" when it clearly was. Admit it and move on.
280  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW Zen Hashlet PayCoin unofficial uncensored discussion. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: January 02, 2015, 02:01:19 AM
It was static for me I was unable to change anything.  Were you able to change anything?  If so send me screen shots I will write a follow up with the screen shots and your first hand account.  Simple.
I will not accept photoshopped screen shots. You can blank out customer data though that is fine.

There was no theft and people only had access to static data.  I never said that emails and balances were being seen was a good thing I said it was not. It is also not a Blockchain.info sytle breach with funds lost.
This was not good at all.  I contacted Joe for an explanation.  That is what is what in relation to what happened.  There also is not a bunch of info other than emails and balances in PayBase other than some who filled in their addresses which I did not see when I experienced the issue.
Others may have I did not.

It's ok I understand.  People are concerned and we as a Bitcoin community world wide has been burned by scams and disasters like Gox and BFL along with others.
GAW is doing something new and that has some people excited and others upset and afraid of another huge scam and disaster.  We all have worries and the next several weeks will show if GAW can do it or not.   We will have more info on just want the deal is or is not with retailers, we will see if they can get their debit card and bill pay going.  If they do it will be good if not we will see why.  There are many companies trying similar things even ZeusMiner stopped making hardware to focus on the cloud and their payment system.  We are seeing an evolution in Bitcoin and the industry with many players doing all sorts of stuff.  It is exciting and nerve raking as there is real money involved and peoples lives.
We as a community need to support each other and at times agree to disagree and move on from there.
I promise you if I find hard evidence GAW is a scam I will get the news out ASAP.  I am looking at things people are worried about and I ask more and more difficult questions of GAW and others.  So far there are some rumors and flags but also some things that have moved forward and a huge community that supports them for better or worse.  That is what all coins want and need are committed communities.  That is what gives them value and gets them used.
Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies are the cusp of another evolution of how we interact with each other and have a monetary system backed by the faith of people and not governments who do not always have our best interests in mind.  Bitcoin is changing things and I think for the better.
I am excited about what was started in 2009 and want to see where were are in 3009.
Happy New Year and Best Wishes to you and everyone. :-)

That is a well written and concise pile of contrite ass covering horseshit. The fact of the matter is that Josh Garza and his company GAW repeatedly lie about everything, all day, every day, with reams of direct evidence showing so. The guy can not even complete a sentence without contradicting himself. And your readers are supposed to believe that you are an actual reporter and you can not find hard evidence? I have to call bullshit on that one. You are either completely inept as a journalist or a complete liar.

Case in point:

There was a massive security breach with Paybase that allowed thousands of people to directly access other people's accounts showing balances and giving detailed information about the account holder. You reported it was "static data of customer sessions" and that "No coins or Private data was lost" . That sir is not bad journalism, that is an outright lie. Balances and account holder information is definitely private data, and I am certain you are well aware that anonymity for many people investing in crypto currencies is paramount. Did you previously work for the NSA where they record every telephone call people make and then call it "meta data" or what? That report was a total disgrace, and the fact that you will lie directly to people's face's means that you have no respect for them and think they are fools that will believe whatever you write. Well, you can count me out of the group. And then the fact that the powder puff bullshit "article" (GAW press release) is framed by GAW ads completely shreds any amount of credibility that someone might still mistakenly have for you. Perhaps you should spend your time trying to blow smoke up people's asses somewhere like HashTalk where they are gullible fools and the forum is run by the guy keeping your lights on.

Thats not true.  It wasn't static data.  It was fully interactive data the only thing that saved them was the fact that 2fa was active and working or there would have been massive losses.  The only reason Josh was able to lie is that 2fa prevented the loss of coins which allowed him to downplay the breech.  THEY WERE NOT STATIC.
