Graham, do you perhaps have source code that will work on Ubuntu 19? I would like to upgrade the OSes on some of my nodes that are on Ubuntu 16. Then also, who is running with the p2p pool. Is it public or private?
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: September 17, 2019, 06:03:24 PM
Okay just entered new password and went into my waves account thanks.

So i just went to my portfolio and what i notice is it shows qualified coins.  Then there is all active coins.

So the active coins... its all i have but most of these are scam coins right?

Now why is it in qualified, liquid is not there?  Back then i remember it was worth something to waves but now the value is 0?  Back then i remember you could get like maybe 1 wave for ever few liquid?

Also i lease my waves and back then i would always get a ton of this thing called waves something.  I dont remember name.  Now there is no more?

Anyone know this?  So liquid is now worth $0?

A token on Waves as any token on Eth or a token on Tron or a token on EOS or a token on Binance chain etc. is worth as much as the effort behind that token. Unless there is a lot of effort and a solid purpose there will be no value. Lots and lots of tokens on all the chains I mention are worthless now. If you look on DEX there is still a pair for Liquid/Waves but is the only pair with any price to it. The volume is next to nothing so you can safely say that Liquid's prime has passed. For most tokens on any of the mentioned chains if you hold onto too long the tokens eventually become worth very little and you should have sold your Liquid way back. The nice thing about base Waves is that the team is actively promoting and there is some adoption.

About a month ago I read that Waves is one of about 8 coins/tokens being considered for listing on Coinbase. Has there been any further news/progression on this and what do you think the chances are for Waves to be selected?
Yes, there was information about this. Coinbase wrote about listing eight new asset in aug 5.
I think the Waves have a good chance.  Cool

I have high hopes for three of them - Waves, Matic and Harmony One. Perhaps the good news that sasha wil reveal soon has something to do with this or if not related, that the good news would be the catalyst needed for Coinbase to list Waves.

Its not too late to get to be on coinbase. To be fair with waves, there are good projects in this platform such as ZRcoin. Commodity backed project in WAVES, seem to have add value to WAVES. Do you think the volume on their DEX will increase even just a bit because of this?  I have tried the DEX, its fees are just bits and it would be really good if it just have volume.

I hope it does. The Waves DEX is a solid platform and if Waves gets listed on Coinbase then I think Waves DEX volume will grow - if I understand your question correctly. An important factor is that Waves got their money in the golden era and the long term winners will be the teams that can hold out with enough reserves. I can already see some very good platforms that only got their money recently but will be forced to close shop due to funds drying up.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HARMONY PROTOCOL on: September 17, 2019, 10:17:27 AM
Does anybody know when phase 2 of Pangaea will end? I am already confused with those postpones.

Update on network instability:
Sorry for all of the stress that we've been causing you all for the last few days. We've had conflicts between trying to upgrade the software on the network and the software not being stable enough to handle the insane number of transactions (which I believe is impressive and awesome, just haven't had a good way to get these metrics 😢). Just to make it clear, the instability is problem that needs to investigated much further by me and I've brought this up to the entire engineering team.

Unfortunately, today is officially the last day of my full-time internship, as fall quarter for university is starting back up, so a lot of my work will be transitioned to Andy (full-time engineer) and Ben (full-time intern). In addition, many of the tech support team, will given the power to have more control over the entire network, which originally I had sole access over. This includes Soph, Ionut, Yelllowsin, JB273, Crypto Wolf, Mindstyle, Mirror Mirage, and Seb.

I predict that this transition may be extremely rough and hope you guys can give our team more patience, but in addition I will be moving onto 10 hours/week part-time, so I'll still be here, albeit significantly less frequent.

Lastly, if your node is working, and you're not the only one, don't worry. We'll be sure to compensate for that. I've been really glad for everyone who has participated in this project and I fully understand the choices that people have made in deciding to leave, but in the end, we honestly are just trying to fairly reward you all for the work you've put in testing our network.

Thanks again for everything, and we'll be sure to try to get the events started as soon as possible.

It sounds as if you had a key role to play especially of you had full access. What does your departure mean to the future of the coin especially in this turbulent time with the network instability. It sounds as if there will be more work now for less people where it should have been less work for more people to solve the issues.

Pangaea phase 2 is supposed to run from Sep 10-24. However there are lots of issues currently on network stability and getting all the shards to work properly. They are apparently experiencing high transaction volumes as part of the testing which is good. Perhaps the network stability issues will impact the planned end date or perhaps not. Holding thumbs to get a key to host a node as part of phase 3.

Is there any news about the potential of Harmony One to list on Coinbase? In August One was part of a list of eight coins being selected for listing on the exchange.

Good to see that you are using MyWish contracts. Those guys are doing a great job with their contract platform. Just did a swap there from Eth chain to Binance chain and worked very well.

I noticed that since the Ledger Nano S 1.5.5 upgrade I could not install more than 1 non-BTC wallet on the device at a time. You had to remove and install when you switched to different wallets. With the recent BTC wallet upgrade to 1.3.11 I installed BTC, ETH and tried Waves and it worked. I wonder if it is a Waves wallet size thing or if they reduced the BTC wallet size to make some space. Whatever the reason it is very convenient not to have to uninstall and install when authenticating to Waves DEX.
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][INCNT] Incent Loyalty | Waves Token | Traded on Bittrex on: July 22, 2019, 06:31:19 PM
The new Insync tech platform that launched is a really cool concept. However it is just available to Australian users. When will you roll out to other countries or do you first want to prove the tech in Australia?

Yes - prove the tech and its use case in Aus, then expand.

Ok but on the meantime what can people outside of Australia do? Just buy on the market? Do you foresee months or years for wider expansion.

Can you please confirm if you have a block explorer running so that I can see more about status of the the chain?

use the command
vfc dump

this will list all transactions in the chain

there is no official block explorer UI so far.

Thanks. Any idea when an official block explorer UI will be up? It is a requirement for the better exchanges.

Check out the transcript of the Live Q&A Session with Waves CEO Sasha Ivanov.

https://www.docdroid.net/5tIbhzK/qa-with-sasha-ivanov.pdf

Thank you very much for the transcript. It was much easier reading it on docdroid than reading it on telegram.

indeed , very easy to read this way .. thx m8

still disappointed  about the wavesprice ....

Everyone is disappointed but it seems currently little new money is flowing into crypto. There is a lot of BTC up Alts down and vice versa, Waves included.

dApps just out for waves, with a good initial demand.
concurrence is welcome with ETH.

https://twitter.com/ikardanoff/status/1150637416824414213

Maybe this was the reason for the brief spike over 15k. I would much rather that the price go up because of functionality like dApps than because of a buy-back. Waves is trying hard to break-out but BTC is keeping it down (for now)
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: July 15, 2019, 04:20:00 PM
Waves should do a buyback and lock the coins in a smart contract for 3-5 years to ensure a good future development and stop FUD about Waves Team self-dumping.

buyback has been initiated:

https://twitter.com/sasha35625/status/1150723176286097408

Is there a place to see how much funds in $ the dev team has or at least in BCT and Waves? Buy backs should only be done if there is lots of extra money and really nothing better to do with the money. I dont mind a buy back in the sense that it will make the price go up. Looking from an organizational perspective is it the best thing? Especially if the tokens bought back will again find their way back to the market to cover development costs as per the tweet.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LIBRA - Simple Global Currency - Reinvent Money - By Facebook on: July 15, 2019, 04:11:48 PM
With enough money backing the project it has a high chance to succeed. Even though there are recent talk from the highest level in the USA against crypto, the forces behind Libra are strong. There are some big names backing it. From page 4 of the whitepaper the founding members are listed as:

Payments: Mastercard, PayPal, PayU (Naspers’ fintech arm), Stripe, Visa
Technology and marketplaces: Booking Holdings, eBay, Facebook/Calibra, Farfetch, Lyft, Mercado Pago, Spotify AB, Uber Technologies, Inc.
Telecommunications: Iliad, Vodafone Group, Blockchain: Anchorage, Bison Trails, Coinbase, Inc., Xapo Holdings Limited
Venture Capital: Andreessen Horowitz, Breakthrough Initiatives, Ribbit Capital, Thrive Capital, Union Square Ventures
Nonprofit and multilateral organizations, and academic institutions: Creative Destruction Lab, Kiva, Mercy Corps, Women’s World Banking

thats why it's retarded ~ bitcoin cannot be reinvented..genie is already out the bottle!  Cool  zuckerN00bs~

It is nothing about re-invention. My argument is that where there are billions of dollars and big names behind something it will be difficult to fail. Bitcoin will always be there and be the pioneering king, but with the penetration like Facebook there could be quick mass adoption of whatever Facebook puts on the table, especially if the card associations are behind it as well.
280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why president Donald trump is not a fan of bitcoin? on: July 14, 2019, 11:49:13 PM
so, what will happen if Trump is not a fan of bitcoin, will it damage bitcoin, I think bitcoin is still alive and has many large communities throughout the world, there is nothing interesting with his tweets, so just look in the next few years whether he will become a bitcoin fan or not

I think the publicity given to Bitcoin placed it right up there among the other important matters on the world stage. By raising Bitcoin to the highest level placed a focus on it and might just cause the opposite effect than was planned by more people getting involved and not less. It is almost like those alien movies where every time you hit the blob it becomes bigger.

To your question, progress might be slowed down by regulation, but Bitcoin will not die (I believe it will become bigger) and some of the other platforms will also survive.
