1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Vcoin sha256 pow on: March 20, 2017, 12:50:43 PM
Will anyone sell me 100k VCN for 0.05 btc (50 sats each)?
You have to try https://yobit.net/en/trade/VCOIN/BTC most of Vcoin users hold their vcoins,  I would describe Vcoin as a rare coin who nobody wants to sell at 50sat larger amounts it's obvious if someone look at yobit sell orders
I did look at the yobit sell orders.
I just thought maybe someone on here wouldn't mind selling me some at that price.
I really don't believe most of the vcoin users hold their coins on yobit, or at least most of the coins. But I may be wrong.

There are currently a minimum of 1.2m still in the wallets at Bleutrade and 620k on Yobit. The rest are probably in offline wallets and/or cold storage.

The forknote 2 works very well. Everyone should upgrade.

When was forknote 2 released? Was there a post here about it?
The older thread. It is now up to date.

Ok thanks.

As far as I am aware, osmium only updates the artwork and does not change any core code. If the designs are in the wallet, the dev can do the functionality updates going forward.

Thanks to whoever fixed the unconfirmed tx.

Dev you forgot to update the source code with the new artwork.
1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NNC] NicNac Coin - Nithrius, a digital ecosystem on: March 13, 2017, 08:02:20 PM
I agree. It looks like this chain is screwed.

My coins that were lost were transferred in one of the orphaned blocks. Anyone at this point that transfers coins in one of the orphaned blocks will lose their coins as they will be subtracted from your wallet but not arrive on the other side. Dev will have to fix and relaunch the coin.
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NNC] NicNac Coin - Nithrius, a digital ecosystem on: March 13, 2017, 06:37:58 PM
I have a problem.

I sent about 10 tx from one wallet to another. 2 of the transactions remains as unconfirmed in both wallets. I have waited a day and it remains as unconfirmed. I tried on both wallets to resync the chain from scratch and also to take an old backup of the wallet and let it run through the chain but it ends up as remaining unconfirmed. I also tried to do reset in both wallets with no luck.

Any ideas?

To send coins to someone:
In Simplewallet type: transfer 0 THEPERSONSWALLETADDRESS THENUMBEROFCOINSTOSEND -p THEIRPAYMENTID (if you chose to use this option which is sometimes required to send coins to an exchange !!)

Yes I sent coins with this method except for the payment ID at the end. Both wallets are my own. All the transactions went through except 2 which are shown as unconfirmed on both sides in both wallets for over a day.

Is there a way to dump a private key from a cryptonote wallet and import it into a clean wallet?

People also waited the whole weekend ready to test and emails only went out at the end if the weekend. Some people will only test next weekend and others will try to fit it in in the week. If emails went out beginning of the weekend as planned, there would have been a lot of results already.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN - *VGINA* - No ICO, 100% Stake - POW/POS - Launched NOW !!!!!!! on: March 12, 2017, 11:22:04 PM
Here are the VGINA Raspberry Pi wallets (headless and Qt) for Raspbian Jessie (v8) as well as a blockchain snapshot. The wallet has been tested on both a Pi2 and Pi3. Since VGINA has a great appeal for staking, it makes sense to stake on a Pi at low electricity cost.

Important:
1) Always backup your wallet.dat first before you do anything
2) The wallets were built on Raspberry Pi2/3 (ARM) running Raspbian Jessie (v8) and the instructions and scripts assume you are running as user "pi". It is a pre-requisite to have Jessie installed on your Pi micro-SD card. You can find instructions of how to do this on https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ by either installing n00bs and selecting your OS or by downloading the image of the OS. NB! It is important that if you do a fresh install from an older Jessie image, that you first expand your file system with raspi-config. It is the first option in the menu. The default image they provide installs a partition of about 3.5GB and it needs to be expanded to 8GB or you will not have enough space for the installation. However, if you use the later Jessie image from May 2016, the file system will be expanded automatically. It is furthermore always a good idea to select the boot options in raspi-config to boot to a command prompt with authentication. You can then start the graphical desktop with "startx" manually. This helps with issues during upgrades.
3) The installation script installs the required dependencies automatically. If you have not done a recent upgrade, you might be presented with a screen of text during the Mozilla security certificate upgrade. If this happens, just scroll down and press "q" and the installation will continue.
4) Installation directory where the binaries are installed is ~/opt/vgina or /home/pi/opt/vgina
5) To run the wallets after installation go to the directory with the wallets and run the wallet file - ./VGINAd for the headless wallet at the command line or click on the VGINA icon on the desktop or run the VGINA-qt wallet file.
6) An Internet connection is required for the installation
7) You need at least an 8GB memory card for the wallet.
8.) The installation itself takes about 45min on an out-of-the-box Pi.
9) You cannot just download the dynamic wallets, you have to run the script to get the dependencies as well else it will not run.
10) The installation script enables the ufw firewall by default, but does not force any special rules. The wallet still works this way with the port blocked. If however you want to enable it to become a fully functional node, un-comment the ufw lines in the script and add the ports you want open (42342 for VGINA) and run it again or easier, enable it manually by running the command "sudo ufw enable 42342" at the command line.
11) Always verify the checksums when you download files to make sure it was downloaded ok. To verify the checksums on your Pi, go to the ~/opt/vgina folder and execute sha256sum <filename> and md5sum <filename> and compare the values with the values in the checksums.txt file.
12) The VGINA wallet uses a bootstrap.dat file which is installed automatically by the script up to block 20543.
13) As the blockchain grows bigger, it is normal during the first run after the download, that the opening of the wallet gets stuck on the splash screen for several minutes while the blockchain is imported.

Instructions to use the headless command line daemon wallet:

1) The installation script creates an VGINA.conf file with the startup settings in it. Go to the folder with the binaries ~/opt/vgina and enter ./VGINAd in a terminal window or at the command line to start the server
2) After the wallet has started and loaded the blockchain (give it a minute or so) you can enter the normal wallet commands that you would as in a Windows debug console preceded with ./VGINAd eg. "./VGINAd getinfo".
3) Remember to always make a backup of your wallet.dat file before you do anything like encrypting it
4) To encrypt your wallet run the command ./VGINAd encryptwallet <yourpassword>
5) Once you have the wallet running, blockchain loaded and your wallet with coins on the Pi, then you can kickstart staking by executing .VGINAd walletpassphrase <yourwalletpassword> 99999999 true

Instructions to use the Qt wallet:

1) The wallet works exactly the same as the one in Windows.

To kickstart the installation execute the following commands at the command prompt or in a terminal window on your Pi.

Code:
wget https://bitbucket.org/jc12345/vgina/downloads/vgina_installation_pi.sh && chmod +x vgina_installation_pi.sh && ./vgina_installation_pi.sh && rm -f vgina_installation_pi*

Let me know if there are any issues.

Bounty for Raspberry Pi wallet? Could do with a VGINA or two.  Cheesy

Are you going to create the Pi Image or just a linux wallet ?

Hows 40 000 VGINA's all to yourself ?

VGINA Pi in the making.

1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BEWARE yobits ripped me off again CLASS ACTION on: March 11, 2017, 01:01:23 PM
Have you tried contacting support? Anytime I have had an issue with a wallet not connecting properly or funds not withdrawing, I just got ahold of support and it got taken care of within hours. Their support is pretty good

Agreed their support is good. Also, most coins are not salvageable to take out of maintenance even if you send support 1000 messages and you can blame the devs for that. However, if you do proper blockchain analysis while it is still live, then you can steer the chain away from the conditions that lead to an unsalvagable chain and have enough information available to help with recovery efforts if things do go south in future. It is like disaster recovery and business continuity management. Unfortunately most people do not care about a chain's health as they only care about dumping coins and when an event occurs you have nothing.
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BEWARE yobits ripped me off again CLASS ACTION on: March 11, 2017, 12:34:29 PM
Strange, Yobit has addressed all the issues I have had so far, including taking coins out of maintenamce. Regarding the wallets in maintenance, they cannot keep dead coins open for long as it takes up resources. There are lots of things you can do as an individual or as a community to prevent a coin from gong into maintenance or to make it easier for a coin in maintenance to be synced up and taken out of maintenance. You must also research the reason for the maintenance eg fork or risk of double spend or if their systems detect a stalled chain for a long period.

Life is all about 80/20 principle decisions and risk based approaches. You shouldnt he too hasty in judgement and just plan properly and do more from your side.

I hope you get things sorted out and do not lose your coins.

PS: It is also a good idea not to keep coins on any exchange for prolonged periods.
1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] - THE BITCOIN MOVIE on: March 07, 2017, 01:25:31 PM
So we will have part in how the movie unfolds? I vote for Satoshi Nakamoto to reveal himself in the movie.
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NicNac Coin on: March 07, 2017, 01:22:15 PM
Hashratre drops.
I think, if soon there is no new news from the dev about the coin development or adding coin to the exchanger, we can consider a coin dead.

You never know. Maybe the dev owns shares in a rabbit farm and in a hat factory making it possible for him to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Looks great thank you, added to the front page.

How ironic for you to acknowledge this one but not the one I posted in Aug 2016 already. 808 is dead anyways.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1591061.msg16059519#msg16059519

and in this thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1532606.msg16059572#msg16059572

Sorry i do not run that thread, probably why i missed it being posted earlier. I do not think 808 is even close to being dead. Haters going to hate, Bassheads going to appreciate the 808.

I am not a hater. I was a supporter because I like the entertainment of POS coins with eccentric emission curves and that is also why I made the Pi wallet to stake that curve and find its sweet spot. It is challenging, like the pit stops of a Formula 1 race. It is all about timing.

There was about 2 BTC to make in 808 up to roughly 3 months in after which it slowly died down. The emission curve for this one only had a life of about 4 months. I must say it was very exciting but there is nothing in it anymore due to the high POS percentage.

Also, you disappeared for several months which is not nice of a dev. You are most welcome to prove me wrong and in fact I challenge you to prove me wrong. There are many people that still have 808 and they would love if you put all your effort into 808 and make something out of it. I am very skeptical though and actually 99% certain of my statement based on alt-coin history and trends.
