261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: April 25, 2018, 03:19:58 PM
I took 1. Hope it becomes like the A3 and ROI in a month or 2.

For sure this product is based on their Sophon AI chips. From the Byton site:

"POW algorithm that is friendly to AI ASIC-chips"

Bitmain Sophon server which ships in Q2 2018:
https://sophon.ai/product/view.html?product_id=00020171024103359691D05v6EIt064D&template=server-detail

Coincidence? I doubt it, it's the usual Bitmain sausage machine in action!

Can current asic manufacturer competitors make AI chips?
Anyways, 1 week is quick delivery.

It's a roll of the dice.  Of course bitmain doesn't give enough information to enable a solid decision, or even an educated guess.  they just spring the suprise and wait for FOMO to take over. Grin.   Keep us updated on how you progress.  I will probably join you on a later batch.

Yeps. Hopefully it becomes another A3 success. 1 unit per person is nice touch especially since it decentralizes mining.

Would be better to make it removable just in case the PSU dies. If it is separated, one can just swap the psu. I dont see wats so hard about plugging in a PSU. I had one old psu go down so far and the other one didnt work so well. The miner lives.

Just my 2 cents

Well "B3+" perhaps for english site later?!? this was like L3 first released, only for china market then L3+ released globally..

Was it on the same batch?

Will it also send u to work?

Yep, hopefully no more new competition. There is no need for a stronger arms race when the amount to be earned is limited.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: April 24, 2018, 11:07:22 AM
Why they dont sell outside china? Is it good? Maybe another A3?
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: April 24, 2018, 04:02:49 AM
Network hashrate has been skyrocketing in the last few days as I suspect this latest batch of cheap L3’s are coming online. Difficulty about to jump another 8% or so in a few hours.

https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/litecoin-difficulty-chart

Difficulty was 7.1 a week ago and now 8.3. That is a 14% increase.
Difficulty was 5.7 a month ago and now it is 8.3. That is a 31% increase.

Increase of difficulty in 1.1 in a week is madness. Total difficulty is 8.3 now.
That means that in just 8 weeks, we can possibly add 8.8 increase in difficulty....which is higher than the current 8.3.

If mining difficulty double, that means the litecoin amount mined is halved.
Litecoin price has to double to enable miners to mine at same profitability, if difficulty were to double.

If litecoin price does double, u make 100% gains by buying and holding ltc. If u were mining, u will be mining at higher profitability for awhile, and in just 8 weeks, mining difficulty can go back up to lower your profitability back to the same levels as before.

However, it is unlikely litecoin difficulty will go up at same pace since litecoin mining equipment price has increased now.
Still, there is too much asic production capacity.

So, lets hope no new stronger machines and no new asic manufacturer appear because we have too much asic production capacity as it is.
I dont understand why some people want more asic manufacturers and more healthy competition lol because competition leads to lower asic prices and far higher increases in mining difficulty as we have just seen. This leads to those at the bottom of the food chain, aka miners, earning far less lol.

This is the same for other algorithms currently.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: April 23, 2018, 10:09:11 AM
I also saw prices are increasing.
All miners exept the S9. Theire prices are still the same

That mean some sleeping miner come alive so although the price is up but there are more mouth to feed
Because there are so many S9's being plugged in across the world that the price appreciation in BTC and BCH have barely moved profits. Sign of the times. Just wait....there are many many more S9's coming online from the "corporate miners". The bodies of small and medium miners will soon be stinking up the landscape. The irony is palpable. The greatest decentralized protocol is being destroyed by hierarchical corporate greed and scum. Same flies.....different shit.

Corporates coming in is fine. The problem is if it gets controlled by a handful of corporates. This would mean the prospect of a 51% attack is real. Bloomberg made a story about this also. The problem is that if news that it has occurred and mining is centralized among a few players, that means a 51% attack is possible and just the news could crash bitcoin. Problem is we are all hodlers...

I wouldn't worry so much about corporates. They are pretty incompetent and unknowledgeable when it comes to crypto blockchains. Remember that Kodak tried to offer their own bitcoin mining ASICs which were simply a rebranding of bitmain ASICs? Until crypto matures and blockchain developers become a regular job, corporations probably won't have any real technical capability to harm the current ecosystem we have.

Yeah that kodak proposition was crappy and shady.
What i mean is if the top few big miners control more than 51% of mining capacity and news appears in news articles about it --> Bitcoin can crash just basis the news. No attack has to occur yet. There are alot of banks who especially dont like crypto and will not make good comments about it.

I need some advice,

I was going to order some L3+'s when they were between $450-505 but now they have have increased to $652 and likely higher I am starting to look at S9's again as an alternative before Bitmain raise the prices again on next batch. I could also consider Baikal X10 or Dragonmints but they are significantly higher priced.

What would you guys do or recommend given current market conditions and pricing? I am looking to double up the size of my farm and so timing of equipment purchases are vital; I was hoping to take advantage of the L3+ fire sale but couldn't get my power upgrade approved in time to comfortably order a lot of them. I guess with the increase in LTC price the profit ratio stays about the same; Bitmain sees to that. It just hurts to pay about 50% per unit from what I could have a week ago and the concern of an L5 release. Should I bite the bullet or look for a different ASIC? I also could wait a few months and hope to score new Nvidia GPUs but that's very speculative.

PS: I wonder if $350 coupons apply to L3++ again with the raised prices; that could change things, its not quite half value though. Anyone confirm?

I suggest buy slowly over time as miner prices are very volatile these days. The avalons dragonmints and S9 can probably get cheaper as the asic war intensifies.
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: April 20, 2018, 08:23:17 AM
I'm still pissed that they sold first A5s at 10000USD and they don't think they did anything wrong in first place.

It is my worst miner investment ever, I don't think I'll ever make any worse decision than buying a A5 unit.

I haven't received any compensation.

I haven't received any coupons.

Nothing.

Same story with us. Sorry to hear it happened to you too.

If Innosilicon really cared about creating long term customer relationships they would have treated us differently. They knew that delay would cause us to never become profitable on those machines as difficulty shot up. Yet they would rather keep that one time sale/money and screw those customers never to have them to return.

Maybe it's a cultural thing and they just don't have the same view of customer service as we do in the US and other parts of the world.

All I know is I recommend my customers and friends to steer clear of Innosilicon because of what happened to me. The premium we paid was BECAUSE of the early delivery, not because the machine itself would be worth that long term. Their failure lost many customers for life I'm sure including me. Our risk was/should have been a DASH price collapse or unexpected difficulty increase before and following on-time delivery, not the delivery time itself. The delivery timeline was their responsibility and failure.

Maybe they are making the right business choice though. There's so many newcomers to the space they might not need sales from previous customers to support themselves?

This is a more common thing among chinese companies than non-chinese. Unfortunately, going after them legally is likely to bear no fruit. This is probably part of the reason it occurs. Good luck and I hope u guys get some fair compensation.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Its over guys on: April 20, 2018, 01:59:21 AM
Looks like this bounce has legs as it is holding though. Congrats to those who bought at the 5k to 6k+ range. Bigger congrats to those who bought bitcoincash lol. It has been mooning through the roof.

...
However anyone could done this, but who needs to project a circle from scratch, when you have a bunch of ready to use and P&P stuff, it shows how far desperated they are in earning money and how much they already gathered so they can make such a device without rising and funding all that industrial network which is needed to build up a working PC - they just buy from them RAM, GPU, CPU and thats it, only need to make your own board which is easy as fucking with all that datasheets they have.

They're chinese, they can do anything for money...[/b]

If it's that easy to build an equivalent competing device, why not release it and beat them at their own game?  Even their competitor Panda, can't seem to build a better device.

It is so ironic how many people complain about others what others will do for money, but they themselves resell what Chinese manufacture for them to get money for themselves.

It is called monopoly, but you have missed the point of my post Smiley

I wont say it is a monopoly considering there are other machines made by others that can mine it.

L3+ is coming to the doorstop Era  Grin Grin Grin

I've had mine for around 8 months and it took me a little over 2 months to get my money back.

 Grin

How is that possible?

Much lower scrypt difficulty, LTC price a lot better

I see the chart and it has gone up from 5.7 to 7.3 in a month?
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: April 20, 2018, 01:46:44 AM
We are in the middle right now of whether "is mining worth it or not"

Last 2 weeks it was very unprofitable due to the low ETH price.

Right now since ETH is rebounding it's looking better but the difficulty can still hurt us.

So if you got a rig, it's wise to continue but wait and see first if you want to buy more GPUs.

Actually, if u just buy bitcoin at 800 bucks in jan 2017 or 2000-4000 usd in jun to august 2017, u would make 10x or 2-4x profit now. Mining would not have made that much or close to it even with free electricity. Right now, mining difficulty increases too fast. So, good luck to miners. The good news is GPU can be bought again at amazon at lower prices these days.

So, wat are u guys mining? While the profitability looks good, does that coin still release coins. The biggest cryptonight coin looks like it has little coins left to release?

For some reason, cryptonight calculation is removed under the asic tab in whattomine website??
